[Q} How to lock to 4g only? - Motorola Droid Bionic

On the thunderbolt the lte onoff app you are able to select "lte only" setting. Is there any way to provision this? The reason I ask is because on the thunderbolt The 4g is always on even in the "cdma/lte auto" setting in my area. However on the bionic, it's very intermittent. It chooses to jump to 3g randomly.
I do notice that on the market app lte onoff app it says thunderbolt only. Is there any other ways to achieve this?
Thank you so much for any help.

4g switch?

I like to turn off 4g. Because I want longer battery life?
Is there any 4g switch app available?
Thanks
Yes, dial *#*#4636#*#* and select Phone Info, then Select CDMA Auto PRL.
*#*#(INFO)#*#*
LTE wont look for a signal anymore.
To Re-Enable LTE, Dial *#*#4636#*#*, Phone Info, CDMA + LTE

Thats cuz there is one on the Evo. Maybe we'll get one in a future update. No worries, someone will make an app.
beautiful widgets has a 4g toggle widget, but it pops up with a warning that it's only for 4g wimax phones...not sure if it'll work or not for us, and i'm not in a 4g area.
Download Any Cut from the market. Create new shortcut, scroll down to Phone Info and it will make shortcut to the screen where you can go to cdma auto, which will stop LTE from running

download app in market called "network mangelow"
3G - CDMA auto (PRL)
4G - CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto
I switched LTE off, looking forward to see battery improvements tomorrow since 4G isn't in my area yet.
tell me how much of an improvement it is
There is absolutely no question of the improvement. If the 4G radio doesnt have to keep searching for a signal that is not even there, of course its going to save your battery.

im using this app and it works great. what i did was make a widget with minimalistic text and have it open this app.
Yup, Im using this too. Works perfectly. Its called "Network" in your apps list. No 4G at work yet so I make the switch at least twice a day, this helps.
What I find is that I have to switch to airplane mode to get it back into 4G though, anyone else..
Tried the app. Just bootlooped :/. Not sure if i'll try it agian. I might wait for a more direct app

whats the difference on these three?
3G CDMA auto
3G CDMA only
3G Evdo only
I use Phone Info by [email protected] Can't post links yet, but it's in the market. Small app, saves a lot of typing to get to the menu.

Can't force 3g on .2233

I am in a fringe 4g area where I don't have a really good signal, so I want to force to 3g but the option for preferred networks is grayed out. Anyone else have this problem?

I was able to install LTE onOff from the market, but I should be able to do it in the system settings.
Go to the Dialer, type *#*#4636#*#* and then go to Phone Information. In the lower half of that screen you'll get every network option you could ask for. Go "CDMA Only" for 2G data only and choose "CDMA Auto (PRL)" for 3G
Thanks for that, buy we used to be able to switch between 3g/cdma and LTE in the settings menu. I am just trying to figure out if it is an unfinished part of the leak or something permanent of ics.

Switch LTE \ HSPA 4G

Anyone know anything about forcing the X to be in LTE or HSPA 4G only? Ive downloaded LTE ON\OFF App from the market which basically launches the Phone Info dialog. You can select WDMCA Preferred and it does goto HSPA 4G only mode. Except a reboot or toggling WiFi on and off switches it right back to LTE\GSM. Anyone know how to make it stick more permanently?

How to enable HSPA 3G on t-mobile and ptel?

I want to select network and choose 3G for tmobile/ptel. It works great on my defy.
I am out on the edge of town where 2g and 4g reception are weak but 3g is great. Sadly the phone always either chooses 2g or 4g and is having problems getting a signal out here.
I know for a fact I have tmo/ptel 3g here. My moto defy is on it right now.
I downloaded network setting app and i do not see how to change the settings.
How can I get this Atrix HD to force 3G on t-mobile/ptel?
Do I need to root?
I use this app called Phone Info that has been removed from Google Play (it was actually only renamed, it can still be found at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=myc.phone.PhoneInfo with a title in Chinese). I get 3G when I select WCDMA only.

Tmobile's "3G" and "4G" are the same, or are you referring to LTE? Look in your About Phone, what type of data connection does it say you're getting while idle and using data?
Depending what ROM you have many of the ROMs you can enable toggles for the desire network

If you use the hidden menus you can force it to stay 3g.

[Q] Network settings won't work on T-mobile Roaming

My brand new Moto X will not work while roaming on t-mobile. This is a bummer because I'm in Alaska and roam on GCI. The problem lies in the network settings. I can't change the "preferred network type" to "3g" like I can on the N5. My only choices are "automatic" and "2g". Can anyone think of a way around this?
You can grab an app called "LTE Setting" from the play store, it will allow you to select "WCDMA only" - which is HSPA/3G.

Are you sure that's the problem? T-Mobile's Moto X considers HSPA to be 4G. When my T-Mo Moto X switches to HSPA, The 4G icon stays, but the LTE icon goes away. It could be GCI does not use the band(s) the T-Mo phone is equipped to use.

Yep, that's definitely the problem. 3g works great on my iphone, and Nexus 5 but you MUST turn off LTE / 4g in order for it to work. Since the Moto X doesn't have that ability in the software it wasn't working. Seems like the LTE settings app is working well so far.
