OK I know there are a lot of different opinions
But I just need some feed back because my soft keys were doing crazy things my Captivate was rooted recently it got even worse so I went through warranty (which I technically shouldn't have because I bought my captivate from eBay) but the day after I called warranty and they shipped a refurbished Captivate my phone started working correctly. I panicked and Odin one clicked my phone so they wouldn't know it was rooted then since it was working properly I did one click again but while it was restoring back to factory setting I disconnected the USB cable to say that it was bricked...it doesn't turn on the regular way and it will only go into download mode what happens now is my warranty voided cause if so they are talking about $339 processing fee

As long as the phone is still under one year then it is still under warranty it doesn't matter where you bought it from, and you do need to flash back to stock but there is no need to brick the phone on purpose
Currently Pinnacle 1.2 and have never been happier

since you r willing to brick your phone may as just flash using oneclick since u were doing that initially and that will bring it back to the way u had it...
OK so as long as I use Odin I'm good even if its working properly?

Hey guys,
My external and internal sd cards arent mounting, I was running JPK just fine with OCLF, but then it froze on me. After the freeze, it wouldn't load past the Flashing S logo.
And now, It wont boot into JPK at all no matter how many times I flash or which PIT i use.
So I flashed back to UGJG8 and now its telling me mounting point incorrect.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your phone is bricked. There is no way to fix this. Your only option is to send the phone back to Bell/Samsung for a mainboard replacement. (I just received mine back yesterday for the exact same issue)
I do, however, suggest you flash back to UGJH2 prior to sending the phone in for repair so they cannot tell that you were flashing unofficial firmware.
Haha wow, that really sucks. Thing is, I dont have warranty at all. I bought this from some guy off craigslist. Great, anyway i could send this in for repairs without receipt?
well actually when i flash UGJG8, i can still use the phone, just Sd cards aren't working.
same error popped up on my stock phone, no matter what I did there was no way to recover the issue, formating, reseting or anything. (the phone did not have 3 button recovery anyways). I sent mine in on monday, hoping to get it back soon.

A copy of the original sales receipt is required for repair
ahh this sucks, would i be able to pay for the repair? the phone is totally working, except for the mounting, ill use it as is for now i guess. unless anyone from toronto is willing to lend me their sales receipt.
damn JPK and losing 850 band. made me brick

The sales receipt has the IMEI listed on it. So no luck there either...
Check your PM's.
Looks like I'm also in the same boat...no external or internal SD after trying to do a Clockwork Recovery with new JH2 (with 3 button recovery enabled) and Voodoo lagfix
For a while, it was only the external SD card that wouldn't work, now the internal isn't detected anymore
My phone is still functional (calls, sms, browsing, ...) but I'm past my 30 days for a return
Should I try to reflash with Odin ?
I'm afraid it won't fix the SD card problem, and i'll just lose my data/sms and be back to stock firmware with no root
Samsung has extended then warranty DOA too 60 days, digg out your receit and thae itslick too then store
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Tried calling my local Best Buys and Samsung Canada to see if they knew about the warranty extension to 60 days but none of them did...
Do I need to go to Bell since I'm actually a Rogers customer?
if they say they don't know, then they are BSing you
because all the Bell stores in Toronto knows it and are doing the xchange if they have inventory, if not you just go into waiting list or repair
Same thing happened to me tonight, regretfully. I was actually pretty stressed trying to flash different firmwares in Odin to get it to work again. Some wouldn't boot, and any that would gave me the error about the internal and external sd cards. Good thing is, since I bought it from Best Buy, I got their replacement warranty where if something is wrong with the phone I just show them and they give me a new one. I suppose it doesn't hurt that I was able to flash back to JH2. Either way, I'll be waiting for official froyo before I start screwing around again.
new galaxy s i9000 user here, have had the phone a couple weeks, didnt do anything to the phone at all in terms of messing with firmware or anything like that, yet i got the same problem. And like a couple others, i bought the phone off craigslist. Im gonna try reflashing the firmware but other than that, what are my options?
craigslist is not exactly the best place to buy a phone
did you get the invoice?
you will need an invoice for the warranty
hey guys, i'ev been trying to do a DOA replacement but im a rogers customer im having trouble doing the exchange anywhere in toronto. I bought it from craigslist and he bought it in St. Catherines. Is there anyway i can get this repaired or replaced in toronto?
Bricked phone! will Bell charge me 500$ ?

So I rooted and unlocked and lag fixed my phone almost as soon as i got it
and about two week later the phone died (got the sdcard not mounting problem).
Fearing I had voided my warranty I carefully asked some questions to the Bell store guy without revealing what i had done. He eventually told me that if you unlocked your phone any other way then through the official samsung channels then they send a KILL SWITCH SIGNAL too turn off your phone.
Is this for real or just some bull****, do the BELL versions of the SGS have a KILL SWITCH?
The Bell guy also told me that they could exchange my phone under the 60 DOA agreement, but they would send the old one to samsung and if they detected that I had done anything like rooting/rom changing etc. then there would be a 500 CHARGE TO MY CREDIT CARD, and he told me that it already happened to someone and that someone was trying to fight it.
So fearing being charged 500$ I tryed just about every fix that is on XDA forums now my phone is so ****ed up that I cant even get into download or recovery mode (which i could before).
My question is has anybody been charged the 500$ without their consent?
And for all those who have been modding and bricking their Bell SGS phones did you get any problems from when you went to send them in or exchange them?
I was also told by the Bell guy that samsung could send a signal to turn the phone back on?
I don't know what to think anymore, I just want my phone working again and I am considering doing some actual destruction to the phone (like giving it a power surge) so that they wont bother checking to see if it was modded and just send me a new one.
Could all those people out there who have sent in for repairs or had their Bell SGS exchaged, please let me know their experiences.
Thanks.

sorry for the double post dont know how to delete it?
Ok I know there are several several threads to this problem. I've searched in and out but still am just sitting and staring at the symbol getting crazier by the minute.
I did a foolish foolish thing by flashing the 3 button SPL in the wrong way.. I kept the re-partition button ticked and kaboom this problem arised.. and the PC does not even recognize the phone.
I'd be grateful if someone helps me or by chance posts something which I've not tried yet! and Nope I wont do the heating trick..
For the info.., my recovery/any modes are not working from phone itself only used to work from the PC using adb. Now that too doesnt work!
Thanks a lot for taking time to read and answer!
Sadly I have to say that your phone was properly bricked since it has no download mode, you cannot use Odin to reflash other firmware.
Your situation is the same as mine, 3 weeks ago, I tried to fix 3 buttons combo to enable recovery/download mode but it was failed and my phone could not start up.
Now there is only one solution to rescue your bricked phone, that is RIFF JTAG box. My phone was rescued successfully by that box.

Thanks Stephen for your reply.. Other replies please...
You have to know that if the phone can enter download mode by pressing 3 buttons combo then you can re-flash it with another firmware by using Odin, otherwise you cannot do anything to make it boot up because its boot area had been corrupted.
My phone is under warranty.. so can Samsung service centre guys do something about it?

yes, you can take it back to samsung for repairs
or you can flash it back yourself using Odin
@Allgamer.. I've tried everything I could bro.. used Odin 4.3, Odinepic1.3 but no use... and my 3 button technique is disabled in my phone Damn why does it have to happen to me when am outta my city
did you try with the usb cable plugged in?
or the battery pop in when the 3 buttons are held
or the heat trick with the hair dryer?
Yeah tried with cable plugged in and also the battery pop in..
I dont have a hair dryer with me at the moment. I mean not that I cannot borrow one, but am a bit scared to try it since it might affect the life of my phone..
Thanks for helping Allgamer bro! Appreciate it.
Hmm anyone found a way to get into download mode with 3 button mode disabled yet?
Finally gave my phone to the service center Hope they treat it well.. and hope they enable the 3 button modes ...
Hmm finally got my beast back from the service centre. And guess what they have enabled the 3 button mode for me yippee

Did they disassemble your phone? And how about the warranty?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yeah they had to replace a board they said... Some pba board the receipt says.. Don't know what so ever that means
Forgot to mention.. Since it was under warranty I wasn't charged a single penny
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Dont know why they had to replace the board, the problem does not concern with hardware, it's just a software issue, exactly is the boot loader was corrupted so the store that I send my phone to took only $15.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Yeah but the thing is I did some weird things by mistake like keeping the repartition box checked while flashing etc... So might be that might have blown something off...
Anyway am happy to have my phone back with the recovery and download modes ) Doesnt matter what they changed as long as my phone keeps me busy
Title pretty much said it. Out of careless mistake I flashed 3 button fix stock jf6 rom over a gb rom. Hard bricked. On Odin it said the flashed is completed with no error, and success. So just wondering if there is any trace left in the phone AT&T or samsung could trace it down to fire a back charge on me? Or anyone that warranty their phone for the same reason had heard anything from AT&T. Thanks in advance.
P.S I do have some custom rom and kernels zips on the buildin flash. Is it against privacy for AT&T or samsung to check those stuff if they do manage to bring the phone back to alive?
Honestly if they can get you phone back up they are going to nuke it. You should be fine

why dont you get connexion2005 to fix it, hes tying to perfect his jtagging service and offering free repairs atm
could really help out the rest of the community when warranty replacement is no longer an option...
check his thread right here!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1041042
I would if this phone is out of warranty. Kinda tight on wallet recently to play around with stuff or I may get a rift jtag to try it myself. Thx for the clarification tho both of u
No, money required ... He's offering it for free!!
And it will help out all of us in a couple months when we can't return them for a warranty replacement and 3rd party jtagging is the only option...
Just sayin...
Yeah. Time is ticking away at that warranty lol

I have sent my rooted phone running gb twice to samsung(I bricked the bootloaders).they don't check for that at all.samsung only cares about water or physical damage.but they will erase all your data and put the stock at&t froyo though.just call them and tell them you phone won't turn on and wont charge and you don't know why.don't mention that you rooted it.the whole process takes about 2 weeks and its free.

My LG Thrill is not booting. The battery is fully charged. I even replaced the battery and nothing. I am past my warranty and I was wondering if there is a way to fix it?
How can you already be past the one year warranty?

I'm not past the year warranty but if I returned it to At&t they would charge to get a new one (So I was told by customer service). So I'm just seeing if there is a way to fix it before I pay.

I swapped 4 captivates between me and my wife in the last year, I have never heard of being charged for warranty replacements. I could understand a restocking fee if you want to return, but not for a warranty replacement. But, I have always handled it over the phone, never in store. I have always been able to get a replacement overnighted to me without issue or charge.

Try to connect to the computer through usb and see if it is recognized during "boot"
Its not powering at all. Ive connected it to the computer through USB and its in a loop of the computer recognizing it and not recognizing it.
Did you do anything to it, CWM, ROM etc? When I soft bricked my captivate that's all it would do. I had to get a jig to fix it.
I don't know how to unbrick a Thrill, but I think the O3D forum has an unbrick method that should work, if its a soft brick vs hardware failure.
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I did CWM and installed a ROM
If the computer "see" the phone it means that at least is not totally dead.. probably it is just bricked follow the unbricking phone guide in the Optimus 3d forum
I've tried that but the computer "sees" the phone then doesn't. It loops in recognizing and not recognizing. Its pretty frustrating.
did you ever fix your phone? I have a thrill here that wont boot at all..
Can you get into CWM recovery?
I have the same problem.
Have you tried holding the volume down and power at the same time? You would let go at the lg logo if it works. That should get you at least into recovery.
