Help with MODEM on JetpackROM+Semaphore 1.7! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Guys , iv'e noticed that my battery'd draining on JVQ modem so, i would like to change it to JVR but even after using the jetpack rom tool,SGS kernel flasher the baseband remains same it says "XXJVQ" . Any ideas on changing the modem??
I9000 on JetpackROM v4 + Semaphore v 1.7 JVS.

Not sure, but doesn't Odin support only modem flashes too?
So, if you download eg. Stock JVR rom from samfirmware and flash only PHONE-packet, it could work.

Very Simple Question.

I've been using some DOC ROMS and you had the possibility to flash other modems like JPP , JPD or JPM to gain better performance in signal or whatever , now I'm not using this DOC ROM anymore , instead of that I just use the stock XWJPA with JPP modem.
Now the question is : Is it possible to get other modems aswell on a rom like this , and how do you do that? also via CWM?

I'm sure there's a way to do this with odin, but I don't know it since I haven't had a windows box to play with in a while. You can, however, do this with heimdall. The command should look something like this:
heimdall flash --pit <your_pit_file> --modem <your_modem_file>

[Q] Darky's rom v 7.7 reception issue

hey guys , i have flashed several rom and i really like the look and feel of the darky's rom however i have really bad reception issue. sometimes at home where i usually have full bar i have no signals at all , or last night i was traveling to Oklahoma city with my friend who is running captivate on stock rom and he had full bar while i had no service at all ! any idea what i'm doing wrong ?
Usually better to ask in the darky thread , but anyways.
Did you flash back to stock and then upgrade to darkys or did you upgrade on top of a previous rom? If the latter, flash back to stock and reinstall.
If the former, try a different modem. I am not using the modem or kernel that came with darkys rom. I am using the kernel with speedmod and ugjl2 modem and so far I have great reception. Of course that isn't saying much as I always have great reception using my cell device (can't think of its name atm.)

You are running the I9000 version and not the captivate port. This alone wont cause problems if you have the reoriented kernel but the jpy modem you have will. I believe it does not have the 850 band. Flash a different modem from the modem thread in the development section and you should be good to go.
If im mistaken please forgive as its 7:30am and I still haven't slept yet.

thanks for your reply ! well yea i did one click odin to stock 2.1 and then flash this using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868262
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808286 flashing xcaliburinhand's latest reoriented kernel (odin version) with voodoo (I9000_reoriented_v2.3.0) so i'm not sure what is the issue here ... can you all guide me what modem should i use ? i was actually thinking about the same thing because i use to have a phone that didn't have 850 bad and i had this kind of issue ! so any help of how and where to get a modem to flash will be greatly appreciated !
I personally use JK4. A lot of people find that JL3 works better for them. Either way at the moment these are the top two modems available. Both can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9134296&postcount=2 and are flashable via CWM.
Also next time you are going to flash a version of Darky's just use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429 or any one that ytt3r starts because he ports them over to the captivate and you don't have to worry about messing with kernels or anything not working properly.
thanks i'll try it next week , since i'm running Axura 2.2 and so far i like it

You can flash darky rescue center. Download it. All instructions are in darky zip file.

Nowhere near bricked... But you have to follow directions now.
Flash either a 2.1 or 2.2 rom. The rom has to be 3 files. You need to flash with a 512 pit and re-partition.

Because you have more ways to screw up your phone with odin compared to cwm. Its not that hard to use cwm recovery imho

It takes about 10 seconds to flash a modem. Most of them are small files. Just flash them give them some time for testing and get a new one if the one you tried does not work.
List of modems here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158783

CyanogenMod 10.1 + Semaphore 3.2 + Modem kk4 ?

hi all
is possible to use cyanogenmod 10.1.3
with semaphore kernel 3.2.0 and modem Radio-CM7-ICS-KK4-Captivate-signed.zip ??
I am interested in KK4 modem
CM10.1 is Android 4.2.2 based ROM, Semaphore 3.0.0c is the right kernel.
Default CM10.1 UGKG3 modem works well in most places, why you want to change it?
I see mobile data works better with KK4 modem, in my country.
OK, I never had to change a modem, so wait for someone with more experience to answer this question.
Thanks for your comment

Changing modem is probably the most basic thing when it comes to flashing. Your ROM/kernel and bootloaders don't depend on it.
So flash away, you can flash whichever you want and as many times as you want, all it affects is your connectivity.

Ok tanks, i test kk4 ICS modem.
I should mention that you gotta flash the right modems zips. I believe it's the I9000 zips for the cappy (unless it changed since i last used my cappy).
