Well I just stumbled upon this little nugget of info as I was browsing the LG website for info about shutdowns:

These informations are in danish so here is a rough translate:
When will the P990 get updated to Android 2.3?
LG P990 will get the update to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in June-July 2011. More information about the exact date will follow as we near the date.

Thanks for sharing the information.
A bit later than expected compared to others like Motorola, Samsung and HTC. But better late than never, I guess.

Really? My Incredible isn't (officially) getting GB until the summer.

Damn! Then april the 18th wasn't the the magic ginger date as we were hoping for Crossing my fingers that cm7 soon will be available

Yes, you can definitely count on it!
Cyanogen tweeted himself that his next phone will be the G2x (same device, different software)

now i already july, but still no info for gingerbread ..

You will never get Gingerbread update haha!
Eventually when other devices will be already on Ice Cream.
O2X is the biggest disappointment of the year!

Depends on your point of view.
I bought it to use with CM7, not stock.

The newest 10c stock works great for me. It isn't slow and i got no problems.
I have tried most of the roms and stock is the best for me

I would have expected that most people should know by now that all dates given for any LG updates are FALSE, so please stop posting these messages and just wait.
Its done when its done and in this case its taking much too long (but thats the only thing lg is good at: keeping their customers waiting)

Lol, my friend Jake has an Iphone, He thinks its the greatest device ever made. I however shut him down with my epically modded Hero200.

Went into a local motorfactors to pick up some bits for my Activa, spotted the guy over the desk had a HD2, we got chatting, he was using android but not a very stable ROM, gave him the details of XDA and the ROM I'm using and we exchanged tidbits of info, was uber geeky

Haha so true. Only thing that would need a change is that for some reason most people I see on the subway managed to smash their iPhone screen big times.

Yeah I think that'd true too same thing happened to me and my teacher. I offered to help him root but he denied me saying his phone was fine. I then taunted him all year long about rooting and how great my phone was compared to his lol

Yeah, i thought it was pretty bunk that he made a "worlds first" out of it when I loaded the bootloaders onto my phone about a full day before he got involved.

You better be getting a slice of that $40 pie he is selling. Honestly, I think that is absolute garbage. This guy is taking advantage of many users offering what should be a donation service because of the work you and others have done.

Now Mobiletechvideos provides a professional grade, top notch technical service. He runs a business and that's his source of income. We text each other for technical advice once in a while. Even if I wanted to, I could not possibly keep up with his workload and do my own job as a hospital electronics technician. We have a deal worked out where he will eventually buy Rebellos a replacement phone via PayPal donations. He's a guy running a business. I look at the business aspect as a downfall of his ability to support himself with technical expertise. All I'm saying is technically its not a worlds first as Android isn't booted and I was running the bootloaders first.

Ics? Dah.......

Lol, like everything else they come out with because they are so useless is that they have no idea, they wont know untill it is released so when we know they know if we don't know then neither do they.

Is the next step that they actually decide whether to hire a programmer?

Remember the disaster of the rollout for Gingerbread?
So, why are you surprised that other companies are running ICS already and providing ICS-updates while the promised timeline of LG (2nd quarter 2012 = April,May, June) is running out of time.
Honestly: Are you surprised?

Why they can't set a fixed date for the update?

as i mentioned in other posts, they (LG) "might" start working (or in this case reviewing) on ICS and not as so many interpreted releasing the rom.
thats how big corporations handle such mathers, with sentences that can put any way "they" want to satisfy the customers and if need be (like most of the time) put them as they want it to be and tell the customer to shut up because they at no point mentioned what "YOU" expected.

They're not going to release ics on any lg device, before the official release of the 4X
They don't want their UI out, not like its good anyway...

Nah, that ain´t true. LG has at least one device available with ICS. It´s the LG L7 P700. It run´s with Android 4.0.3.

LG Germany still says Q2 but I don't trust them!

Google should lower the time manufacturer have, to upgrade their devices to the newest possible OS..
18 months are way too much... LG, I see what you did there.

We can just wait for any of this phones to have ICS so we can steal the tegra binaries over.

Well, it's LG and this news is expected Hope we could get ICS on LG O2X in 2012...

First of all, it certainly isn't OK from LG to delay ICS that much, but really, folks, who cares? CM7 and many other great custom ROMs are there for us, so I don't suffer that much waiting for ICS - just send many thanks to the great devs we have here!
