Please help - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hope someone can help me....
If i push the power button the battery charging sign displays on the screen (grey empty battery) for a few seconds and then goes away... i can do this over and over again... if i plug the phone in to charge and wait for the grey battery to turn green and then push the power button the phone will turn on....
if i leave the phone plugged in until it is finished booting then unplug the charger the phone still says charging in phone status... if i unplug the charger as soon as the phone starts to boot everything works fine until i reboot or turn off the phone.
I have flashed back to stock rom and am going to be taking the phone in for repairs, but would like to know if anyone has had this happen before and if so what was the fix.

[Q] Touchpad won't boot

I cannot get my sisters TP to boot. I guess she let it die completely, so now when I plug it in, all I get is the home button to blink back and forth. If I try to turn it on, I get the red battery with a lighting bolt icon, then a white plug icon, and when I plug it in from there I get the "To reliably charge" message. I don't have the original ac adapter or cable because she lost it. I have already reflashed the A6 firmware. Also, if I leave it plugged it with the home button flashing, after about 20 minutes or so, the flashing stops for a few seconds, then starts for a few seconds, then stops again and so on and so forth. Is there anything else I should try? Or is this thing dead?
See if you can get an OEM cable or a Touchstone.

Leave it charging for a long time, 24 hrs +, it should charge.
Good luck.

You need to find an original charger or maybe a compare able 2amp Carter will work. A standard phone charger or USB port on your computer is not powerful enough to charge it.
Check amazon it shouldn't cost more than $10
I have another tablet charging block that is 5.0v and 2 amps, but when I use that all it does is make the home button flash then stop then flash again. I left it charge on my computer overnight to try and get it to trickle charge. When I woke up the home button wasn't flashing and when I try to turn it on, the red battery comes up for a second then the white plug icon. I guess I'll see about getting an OEM cable, hopefully that works.
UPDATE: I got it into "recovery" mode? It was plugged into my PC so I held power and vol up until my pc recognized it. But it's showing up as palm in the device manager, and no drivers seem to work for it.
UPDATE 2: My sister found her OEM charger and now it seems to be actually charging. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if this doesn't work.
Yep, usually issues like that are because of not using the OEM Charger.

Battery dead, bricking issue
I have had several charging issues with my Touchpad. I am using ClassicNerd Butta OS. IF I am using the Android OS (Butta) and I turn off the Touchpad and then plug it in to charge it will restart the Butta OS. When this happens the Touchpad discharges instead of charging. So, when I come back later the Touchpad is dead and it takes a lot of messing around to get it going again. To prevent this I always turn off the Touchpad when I am using the Butta OS but I don't immediately attach the charging cable. Instead, I wait a bit. Then when I plug in the charging cable I immediately switch to the WebOS operating system. The device seems to charge well using WebOS. When it is done charging I unplug the cable and turn the device off. Next time I restart the Touchpad I let it boot to Butta. Then when it discharges to 80% or so I start the process again as stated. Sticking with these procedures has prevented the no-charge / no-boot issue from reoccurring. I also no longer charge the Touchpad at night. Instead, I charge it in the morning or during the day and only leave it on the charger for an hour or two until it is fully charged. It is my understanding that technique should result in longer battery life and better (longer) charge in the battery.
When my Touchpad battery has gone completely dead it is a real pain to get it to charge up the battery again. When the batter is totally dead the device will not boot into any OS or allow me to even get to the boot loader program. Takes a lot of messing around to get it to start charging again. Though I have been able to, eventually, get it to boot into WebOS and start to charge. But this was not an easy process by any means.
Also, I would agree that you really need to get a stock charger with the cable for your Touchpad. Using a different charger could damage the battery in your Touchpad and/or cause the battery to charge too slowly.
Good luck!

My Hp TouchPad tablet came today and I was told when bidding that it was doing exactly the same thing as mentioned here. I have the OEM charger and cable.. I'll let you know when I can get it straightened out and I hope it is a good one.. Thanks for the info..
While on the OEM charger it booted and I selected webos for the tptb to reflash A6, but soon after it was off charger it went back to the battery icon. battery life low I guess? I selected shutdown. Let it charge over night and see what happens.
Many thanks to many members who are so helpful...

Endless boot cycle, don't know if it's power or OS issue

I looked in the previous threads about non-booting but no one I could find had my issue. Bought the Nook HD+ about 4 months ago and rooted it and installed Android (not sure which version but cm11). Out of the blue, last week I pulled it out of my bag and the battery % was flipping between 1% and 31%, so I put some stuff on it via USB and then shut it down to charge. I plugged it in overnight and tried turning it on in the morning. All I was getting was the low battery picture, so I kept trying to charge it, but it wasn't charging, the power light would go to orange when I plugged it in, thena fter 3-5 seconds it would flip green and then turn off and retry. My assumption is the battery is dead, but it could be a corrupted OS now as I got it to charge long enough to get to the CM11 boot menu. But I even went out and bought a new charger and converter to rule that out and it still is stuck in the same boot sequence. I obviously can NOT charge this thing while it is off because of it's reboot loop, it can't charge. I'm not quite sure what is going on or whether it is a battery or boot issue but after I leave it for a big it freezes on the cyan picture (which is frozen on some scrambled version of it) until I turn it off.
I can't power it on enough to charge it to rule out the battery, I tried holding the power and n button for 3 seconds, letting go of the power, and then pressing it again to get into the recovery menu, but that isn't working either. And I prepared another SD card for a second flash for a corrupted OS and that didn't seem to work either.
I'm stuck here and I'm not sure what to do now to get it running again. I don't care about the data on my tablet at the moment.
Try plugging it into a PC USB port over night.

That's what I did that got it charged enough to get to try to boot, where it now shuts down. But now as it tries to boot it reboots, maybe from too much power consumption? I only had it plugged in for half hour or hour before that got it charged to the point where it boots to the logo screen. I have a feeling it is not charging because every reboot the light turns off (orange light stays on for like 5 seconds)
I will plug it in to my PC and charge it overnight and let you know what happens. It's interesting, I plug it in now and the orange charge light comes on, shows the Nook screen, then shows the low battery screen and shuts off, then the orange light turns off, but it remains plugged in... not sure if it is still charging but as I said, I will leave it overnight and see what that gets me.
No success. I can turn it on and the charging lights turns on for 5 seconds and shows the nook screen, then goes black and shows the low battery screen, then immediately shuts off and the charging light turns off and it no longer charges.
Any other suggestions? I can't seem to do anything with the Nook now.

[Q] Battery 100%, after unplugging phone can't start

Hi, first of all sorry for my bad english.
I just bought Motorola Moto G 2 and i tried to start it - white LED lights and the device isn't starting, i thought that its normal that the battery isnt charged because its new phone. I plugged charger and it showed me that battery is about 50% charged, and when the charger is plugged phone starts and works normally, when i unplug the charger phone still works (havent checked for longer time but didnt immediatly turn off, just worked), but when i turn phone off and try to turn it on again LED lights like its discharged.
I tried charging to 100% and unplugging, doing reset but still the same. Only works when starting with charger plugged. What should I do? Is there any solution?

If the led is lighting up for just a moment, you didn't hold the power button long enough. If device is not starting up even after pressing power 5-10 sec.... customer service

Wont turn on at all. Was fine yesterday. Button's not doing anything

Hi all,
plugged my phone in overnight to charge as usual. Woke up this morning and it was off. I presumed it hadn't charged properly so plugged it into multiple other chargers/battery packs etc. and nothing is happening.
I have it plugged in right now and it's just all black and the charging light isn't even on.
If I press the power button, the charging light comes on, stays on for a few seconds then goes off.
If I press and hold the power button then nothing. If I press and hold the power+UP nothing happens, if I press and hold the power+DOWN nothing happens at all.
My 'guess' is that the battery is so knackered (3yr old phone) that it's depletion overnight just emptied the battery so much that it just wont recover now and take any charge.
Looking for any and all suggestions of things I can try.
Hold power, volup, and voldown simultaneously.
Try connect it to computer, boot in flash mode and flash FW via FlashTool. Possible is that the FW got messed up... everything is possible.
Managed to get it going finally. Wouldn't charge, didn't anything. Plugged it into PC, loaded flashtool and it recognised it. Nothing happened though so was talking to tech support and magically after like half an hour talking to them it suddenly booted with 1% battery life.
It'd now charged and running ok

Please help! Can't turn on my phone :(

Hello everyone!
I was charging my phone last Wednesday night, last I checked was the battery was at 92% , then after 15-30 minutes I checked my phone again and I found out it was dead. I tried to charge it again, but it doesn't show or indicate that it was charging, I tried pressing the power button, but no display, I tried hard reset, and it displayed the logo for a while then go black again.
I tried charging it last Thursday evening and the phone suddenly blinks red light for about a minute or more, then no reaction at all.
I tried doing some combos from forums like :
Tried doing while charging press voldown + power button = blinks a red light once
Tried pressing voldown + volup + power button = nothing happened
Tried pressing voldown + power button for 15 secs, then volup + power button for 15 secs, then voldown + volup + power button for 15 secs, nothing happened.
I dunno what to do now, please help, service centres are I think closed here in Philippines due to some implementation of the government against COVID-19.

Mine's bricked and still waiting for it to be shipped to china to be fixed
same situation Sir. Any update on your phone now? what measures did you do? thanks!
today my phone suddenly restart then freeze then restart then long beep for about 10 sec. then dead and can't be power on any more help
Same with me. My Phone suddenly froze, and couldn't turn off or close the game (Genshin Impact) and a high pitched noise was coming from the device.
I Tried to force it to shutdown, but then it can't be turned on at all
The phone itself can't be turned on at all UNTIL some point when the phone reach 0% Battery (yes, I don't even know when does my phone reach 0% Battery)
When the phone reach 0% Battery, you can charge your phone and get some small red light indicator response, BUT IT STILL WON'T TURN ON
Then, after some couple of minutes, the Small Light Indicator would be off, the phone would be look like they're fine, it will show the battery percentage as usual when you charge your phone when it shutdown. BUT IT'S NOT FINE YET.
When I tried to turn it on (no matter Via Long Press Power Button/Power Button + Volume), it would stuck at ROG Logo, then it completely shutdown and can't be turned on again.
