I have damaged the USB input and I want to do unroot...
XRecovery already brought back the original ROM, 2.1-Update1 2.1.1.A.0.6, but it has a root.
I found such a thing:
Manual unroot:
Remove su, busybox and xrecovery.tar from /system/bin and push original chargemon in case you had xRecovery, clean up /data/local/tmp to remove RATC or psneuter exploit and uninstall Superuser. And if you've maybe chmodded any files in /system that are not listed above, first go to xRecovery and fix permissions.
Click to collapse
I need orginal chargemon, please.
Sorry, for my bad english.
Can you not run SEUS and do a "repair"? Phone will be unrooted and stock 2.1 installed.

Hi there guys, i just picked up my Milestone from Motorola (had to replace my touch screen) and they sent me back with Froyo installed (i don't think they installed a retail version once it has OI courrier sim tool).
I was using ShadowModBR 0.9.16 on it before but i think i'll use the oficial Froyo for a few days but i would like to root it to uninstall some Motorola crApps.
I already tried some root Apps (Universal Androot, Easy Root, z4root, Easy One-click root, etc...) but none of them worked or i got FC.
I would like to know how to root it and backup my system (in case i wish to install a custom rom one day so i would have a backup of it - just to don't have to install the 2.1 sbf base + update it using Motorola software if one day i would like to return to it)... and because i'm a bit interested in installing CMM7 on it.
I read that i could backup it installing the Vulnerable Recovery + Androidani.. can i root it using these Apps?...
Hope that i make myself clear with these questions... thanks in advance for the reply and sorry 'bout any english mistakes.
ps: i'm kinda noob in Android system.
thx!
Copy AOR to your sd card. Flash vulnerable recovery using RSD.
Boot your phone into recovery mode, apply update.zip and there you go.
If you need portuguese assistance send a PM.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA Premium App
thx wise.. i just sent u a PM
---------------------------------
edit:
thx wise.. i just rooted it and backuped my nand.
for those in doubt here's a short how-to:
- 1: turn the phone off and on again entering bootloader screen.
- 2: plug usb cable and flash it using RSD Lite + VR sbf.
- 3: enter in recovery and apply update so it'll start Open Recovery.
- 4: from here you can choose to root phone, backup nand, etc..
now i'm backing up my user/system data with Titanium backup and after i'll remove the crApps.
thanks!
I already root my x8 before but last night i update my busybox using busybox installer... after that my phone became unstable.... all app force close.... then i flash back my x8 using flashtool... but when i try root using superclick... my superclick hang and cant root... pls someone help me here...

Unluss you've flashed a none rooted ROM, you shouldn't need to Root it again. Try to plug and "ASK for Root permissions" in flashtools. at anyrate if you look at the flashtools menu, all you need is there for root, JIT and xrecovery.
ALSO, Never EVER update the busybox, it's just gonna cause you grief. at any rate, the most updated busybox is included with a rooted Custom ROM.
BUT, if you really have to, be sure to wipe cache and Dalvik and set permissions in recovery.
He flashed original 2.1 again, so he has to root if he wants to install a custom ROM again.
@syuk84:
Use SOC 1.7, and do the following:
Start the program.
Click root, but don´t plug the phone yet.
Wait until it says "waiting for device", and then plug the phone with enabled USB Debugging.
That´s it.

Most stock kernels avail for flash are already rooted. That's why i asked him to "ask permission" in flashtools. To check for root.
Besides, he's already flashing with Flashtools. Why would he need to use SOC? the root button is right there.

you cant, you would need to download the original firmware to flash it to stock, you might try one of the backup tool in the market but a full nandroid backup you cant do unless rooted

Ok I have a root now ,
when I rebooted my note to recovery I get this : Android system recovery <3e>
It looks like CWM but has no backup and restore options and thats why Iam confused
How I can get the CWM I used to use with my HTC Sensation
It looks like you only did root when what you wanted was root + CWM.
Go back to Dr.Ketan's guide and look at the procedure below this line that is in the first post:
-----------------------------------------Forget all Above and follow simple Step below------------------------------

My summary of your best options:
Follow from Step 2 and use the already-rooted.bat file
OR
The better (in my opinion) way:
Purchase Mobile Odin Pro(MOP) from the market and go get the CF Root Kernel that matches your firmware to get CWM. Just put the Kernel on your sdcard and run MOP, make sure EverRoot and all injections are checked, select file, find kernel, flash. Done.
MOP has also enabled us to retain root when flashing stock firmware updates by using the EverRoot and injections options, however you will lose most CWM functions when this is done. To regain CWM, you simply follow the same steps as above to update to a matching CF Root Kernel.
Have fun, and be sure to hit the thanks button for Ketan and Chainfire!
Dear beestee,
So: I have Kernel KK2 - Download This - and Extract
then : I am Already Rooted - Execute "already-rooted.bat" and follow the instructions
is there any side effects ? like format ot can not Upgrade via OTA or else?
Is there any thing need to be packed up first? like the original kernel if this method will change it
Nothin side effect, you can upgrade over OTA, BUT If you update over OTA/kies, you will lose Root.
So you have to use CWM or Mobile odin to update newer ROM

Ok I done it and it working, but I found that CWM is a program now you can access from phone not like in HTC where you must inter bootloader and MAGLDR to inter CWM
I can make the backup and restore from inside the program - right?
You can get it with entering recovery too, you have to press Home + Vol UP + Power to enter in recovery mode.
you can simply do it with inside app - restart in recovery
when you give command to backup, it will restart and auto enter in recovery mode and finish it

First I've rooted my x8 (15i) successfully, I installedl nAa 13 and installed a Rom. I didn't liked the rom so I flash to my original kernel and version (2.1Update). And I flashed nAa13 again to install Minicm ICS rom but It didn't work for me.. So I flashed again to my original fw.. (I'm a newbie here in flashing so everytime I want to flash a new rom I flash first to my oriniginal fw so I dont know if it's the right way). After I flsahed to my orig fw I've format my sd card (I forgot to unroot my phone.) And now I unroot my phone.. Relocked the bootloader. And root it again but when i root it and connect to usb cable open it on my computer I dont see the system folders (like Android folder) Ive tried everything like using superoneclick, x8 toolbox, flashtool to root and those application said that my device is rooted but I can't see the android folders. What can I do to see it again..? I wish someone could help me. I tried everything but it's not working. (
Try software update/reset using the Sony Ericsson programme on your computer (SEUS) - that should reset it to 'stock'?

haha!
lolz!
if you want to flash new ROM just have rooted phone and unlock phone!
then flash the kernel that is the requirement for the ROM..i.e nAa - MiniCM7 OR alfs - DingerDX
I don't what you mean?
u can't see your folder from your PC or from your phone??
if you want to see from your phone, download and install file manager or root explorer
..
heheh im sorry I'll explain it further. When I root my device and it become rooted (installed superuser) and plug it in my computer i cannot see the SYSTEM FILES OF ANDROID. Like Android Folder, DATA.. That's what i meant but the software (like x8tool, superoneclick, flashtool) says that my device is ALREADY ROOTED. BUT I CANT SEE DATA SYSTEM FOLDERS WHEN I PLUGGED IT IN..
I never see the /system folder on my pc with the phone connected. Why not just use a root browser app on your phone?

hey i've root it again the superuser was installed. And when i plugged it in again in computer and OPEN TO VIEW FILES the folders contains only a FOLDR and 2 xml domcument. I thought when it is ROOTED I can see the Android Folders, DCIM folders, DATA, But why I cant see it. (
Rooting has nothing to do with those folders. Use your phone for a bit and they'll pop up, take a picture etc.

in stock rom i dont think there is any use for "android" folder as you cant install apps at your sd(i dont remember if i had this folder when i was at stock, but how could i, its been a looong time!), but for "dcim", try to take a pic,as mentioned above!

Hi... I've been trawling through the forums but found nothing specific to my phone. I recently received an update on my RAZR i to JB (bootloader unlocked). However, I didn't realise I'd be in danger of losing root access (I know now!)... hence didn't try any rootkeeper programs etc. If I go into ADB I get error "Segmentation fault" when running SU. Anyone know how to restore root access please?

Thanks for the tip but I've lost root so can't install busybox... and didn't have it installed before. Just tried flashing CWM for Razr i through fastboot and that didn't work properly either. Now device is not even found through ADB. Really need some good advice before I brick the thing!
Had my su backuped with rootkeeper on ICS 32. Worked like a charme when upgrading to ICS 40, but when i installed the JB OTA, i can't restore the su anymore (rootkeeper says all is restored successfully, but no root at all).
I still have the su-backup in the system partition, but when trying to access I get the same "segmentation fault" error.
My BL is still locked, so i'm just curious about the error and if there is any workaround to fix it...

Forget ADB atm, you need to re-flash the whole ROM first. Download RSD 6.14, take 91.2.26001.Retail.en.EU - 4.1.2 ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1936512 and flash it first. It flashes CWM as well and pushes root files up. You you will need then is to boot to CWM recovery and install RAZRiRoot2.zip.

Thanks for your help. Have downloaded RSD 6.14 and it recognised my device (or something at least... it says N/A for all info etc). Am currently on 91.2.26001.Orange.en.GB so should I download that ROM from the link you sent or doesn't it really matter? Is a factory reset at this stage advisable or would that not really solve anything with regards to getting root back? Also note - ADB does recognise my device... when I tried to flash CWM it somehow switched off USB debugging. Still have Segmentation Fault on running su though.

Thanks a lot. This totally solved my problem. In fact as ADB was recognising my device I decided not to use RSD 6.14 and used the FlashAndRoot script included in the 91.2.26001.Retail.en.EU - 4.1.2 package. Am now on Jelly Bean and have root access.
