Unluss you've flashed a none rooted ROM, you shouldn't need to Root it again. Try to plug and "ASK for Root permissions" in flashtools. at anyrate if you look at the flashtools menu, all you need is there for root, JIT and xrecovery.
ALSO, Never EVER update the busybox, it's just gonna cause you grief. at any rate, the most updated busybox is included with a rooted Custom ROM.
BUT, if you really have to, be sure to wipe cache and Dalvik and set permissions in recovery.
He flashed original 2.1 again, so he has to root if he wants to install a custom ROM again.
@syuk84:
Use SOC 1.7, and do the following:
Start the program.
Click root, but don´t plug the phone yet.
Wait until it says "waiting for device", and then plug the phone with enabled USB Debugging.
That´s it.

Most stock kernels avail for flash are already rooted. That's why i asked him to "ask permission" in flashtools. To check for root.
Besides, he's already flashing with Flashtools. Why would he need to use SOC? the root button is right there.

Today I decided to root my captivate and was unsuccessful with the super one click. I then decided to do it manually with the update.zip. After I finished rebooting with recovery mode I saw the su app. I then tried to use titanium backup and it said that it could not get root permission. Could someone please help me figure out what went wrong and help me get a successful root so I can enable normally apps.

Did you enable USB Debugging for the one click method? Is your captivate I896? More info please.

What ROM are you running?
Titanuim Backup probably wasn't given su permissions.
1. Have you tried rebooting it. Sometimes all it needs is a simple reboot and when you start TB, it will ask for su permissions.
2. Go to superuser. If you see titanium backup, click on it, forget, and reboot.
Just oneclickstock, load your ROM, and root again.
Maybe it's an app that's getting in the way?

I'm trying to root my p990h with SuperOneClick and i can't get it to work, my phone is on stock froyo 2.2, i'm using the usb driver and method from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037751 at first i had trouble with the drivers provided, they wouldn't work properly for W7, i changed to Win XP and they worked just fine, then i ran SuperOneClick, click root, it does everything, reboots the phone and just hangs there, i downloaded a root check app and says phone not rooted... i've tried it several times.
Is there any other method for 2.2? i'd like to get cwm and custom roms/kernels...
Tnx for your help!
Hmm have you checked if you have superuser on your phone? If not then try again following this thread and selecting the psneuter option:

Yeah, there is no SU on the phone, i'm going to try that psneuter option, tnx.

Hello!
Did you use the latest Version from shortfuse.org?
While you are on Froyo you could also try gingerbreak apk (don't have a link hand right now).
Superoneclick is the easiest option to root existing Stock ROM. Important is to enable "USB Debug-Mode" from Settings -> Apps.
If you want to use custom roms (which are rooted already), the easiest option is just to put the rom on your sd-Card, flash CWM and install the rom via CWM.
First I've rooted my x8 (15i) successfully, I installedl nAa 13 and installed a Rom. I didn't liked the rom so I flash to my original kernel and version (2.1Update). And I flashed nAa13 again to install Minicm ICS rom but It didn't work for me.. So I flashed again to my original fw.. (I'm a newbie here in flashing so everytime I want to flash a new rom I flash first to my oriniginal fw so I dont know if it's the right way). After I flsahed to my orig fw I've format my sd card (I forgot to unroot my phone.) And now I unroot my phone.. Relocked the bootloader. And root it again but when i root it and connect to usb cable open it on my computer I dont see the system folders (like Android folder) Ive tried everything like using superoneclick, x8 toolbox, flashtool to root and those application said that my device is rooted but I can't see the android folders. What can I do to see it again..? I wish someone could help me. I tried everything but it's not working. (
Try software update/reset using the Sony Ericsson programme on your computer (SEUS) - that should reset it to 'stock'?

if you want to flash new ROM just have rooted phone and unlock phone!
then flash the kernel that is the requirement for the ROM..i.e nAa - MiniCM7 OR alfs - DingerDX
I don't what you mean?
u can't see your folder from your PC or from your phone??
if you want to see from your phone, download and install file manager or root explorer
..
heheh im sorry I'll explain it further. When I root my device and it become rooted (installed superuser) and plug it in my computer i cannot see the SYSTEM FILES OF ANDROID. Like Android Folder, DATA.. That's what i meant but the software (like x8tool, superoneclick, flashtool) says that my device is ALREADY ROOTED. BUT I CANT SEE DATA SYSTEM FOLDERS WHEN I PLUGGED IT IN..
I never see the /system folder on my pc with the phone connected. Why not just use a root browser app on your phone?

hey i've root it again the superuser was installed. And when i plugged it in again in computer and OPEN TO VIEW FILES the folders contains only a FOLDR and 2 xml domcument. I thought when it is ROOTED I can see the Android Folders, DCIM folders, DATA, But why I cant see it. (
Rooting has nothing to do with those folders. Use your phone for a bit and they'll pop up, take a picture etc.

in stock rom i dont think there is any use for "android" folder as you cant install apps at your sd(i dont remember if i had this folder when i was at stock, but how could i, its been a looong time!), but for "dcim", try to take a pic,as mentioned above!

dual recovery is the "recovery" for your device. you can wipe data, cache, dalvik and etc on in. and using it, you can make nandroid backups, flash mods, and other fun stuff. To access it, turn you phone off. Then turn it back on, be ready because it should flash a GREEN led light suddenly, once it lights up click either up or down volume until the color changes. Down volume = TWRP, Up volume = Philz touch I THINK. not sure with the up volume. i use TWRP for backups and mods and roms.
Thanks

Root Z1. KitKat 4.4.X
Hello everybody!
I am a new member here and i would like to share how i root my Xperia Z1 (C6903) KitKat 4.4.4. Version 14.4.A.0.108 with
stock Firmware and locked bootloader.
So, i have tried to root my phone with different flashtools, installed drivers etc etc but no luck. Finally i came over this page;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092
First: I disabled any antivirus, malwareprogram it can give a false viruswarning and remove the file. I extracted the program Newroot to my desktop (How to find the program see above link).
On the phone: I went to settings/about the phone, scrolled down to the bottom to: Version, tapped version several times (for me 7 times) and a popup comes up and say you are now a developer. Now i set the developer options to ON and enabled USB-debugging. As default i also have enabled installation from unknown resources and unchecked the box Verifying apps. (Settings/SecurityUnknown resources/Verifying apps).
Now, I connected my phone to the PC with the USB-cable. Started the program Newroot from desktop, in the popup of the program i see that option "Check this to root your phone" is set by default. Now i just hit proced button and the rooting started, kept an eye on my phone and the phone rebooted. That was all and i had rooted phone with the superuser app in the apps section! :victory:. For some users first root does not work properly. If not sure you have completely root, check root with: Check Root. You can find it on Google store here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avaranasoftware.checkroot
If there is any error-messages, or if it says that busybox is not installed, use the Newroot program again to Unroot the phone instead. After unroot use Newroot program again to Root your phone. After reboot check again with Check Root, now everything should be fine. and both superuser app and busybox should be installed.
Good luck!
Note: Above is only a description of how i successfully rooted my phone. So i don´t take any responsibility for any eventual problems for others who root their phone.
Huge thanks to munjeni for this awesome program! :highfive:

If you unroot the phone you will lose recovery.
If you want to unroot the easiest way is just to flash a stock FTF using flashtool.
And rooting does not void the warranty, only unlocking the bootloader does that

Now a couple of days i used the Newroot tool. I have installed some utilities with functions that requires root. Root Manager app says i have the Clockworkmod and most functions in that program does not work, and Titanium backup pro complains that my CVM- Superuser program can cause some functions to work improperly, and i should update my binaries to SuperSU for the program to work properly.
I installed SuperSU and in recoverymode i got the question if i wanted to "install the untrusted SuperSU Zip and this can not be undone". I chose no because i was not sure what could happen so i reboot the phone and after that i was not rooted anymore, i checked with root checker and my programs that requires root did not function. So i rooted the phone again with Newroot and i got root again and all problems were gone, root access was granted to all programs that required root, except for root manager...
So i googled about Clockworkmod and that mod is rarely used for the Z1-model, most used for Samsung and HTC.
So i wonder if i backup all my data via PC-Companion, can i choose "repair the phone" and it will turn back the phone to it´s original state?
Or do i have to flash the phone myself with a stock rom? I have search for my stock rom everywhere and i cannot find it. But with PC-Companion is it possible to return the phone to it´s original state?
Force a repair with pccompanion to return your phone to factory state

Successfully returned it to factory state. Pressed *#*#7378423#*#* and checked, and everything is exactly as it was when i was rooted, so i assume the Newroot prog did nothing to my phone except for rooting it and installed recovery?
Anyway, maybe i will root my phone again now when i know it is possible to turn it back to stock to get the benefits from root.
Huge thanks gregbradley you made my day! :good: :victory:
No worries.
Yes the newroot process only roots the phone, it does nothing to the bootloader

Hi,
I am new to this, kind of have no clue how to proceed. I checked other sticky posts, but its a bit confusing. I currently have ICS(4.0.4) on my P970, i want to install CM on it. I have already rooted my device using UnLockRoot. I then installed ROM Manager and tried to do Flash Recovery, but it gets stuck at 100% and nothing happens. I have already downloaded the CM version which i want and copied to my SD card. Whats the next step after rooting the phone ?
Thanks

I had the same probem. You need to try a few times to flash recovery untill Rom Manager will ask for superuser acces. You can also change for superuser acces from "ask" to "allow" in superuser app.

It's stuck at 100% because Rom Manager doesn't have root acces.Update your SuperSU,open it: ACCES=GRANT try flash recovery 2-3 times. If doesn't work ACCES=PROMT again 2-3 tries.
Also you can try to backup you current ROM using Rom Manager to see if ask for su acces.
Good Luck!
