Hi. I'm new at using custom rom and I have a question regarding updates.
I'd successfully flashed my milestone to miui 1.9.9 rom. So if I'll like to update it to 1.9.16, do I still need to do wipes like what I did when I 1st flashed it? Or do I just apply update?
Thanks

Techincally all you need to do is wipe cache partition and dalvik cache before and after flashing (don't forget flashing the baseband as well!). If you have problems, try a full wipe.

Thanks So doing a wipe on the cache partition and dalvik cache, am I correct to say I don't need to do a titanium backup?

No, you shouldn't have to do a backup. Create one just in case anything goes wrong, or you need to do a full wipe.

Did you do a wipe before flashing roms? Also wipe/clear devlik cache in recovery along with wiping system, data, and cache. Then flash rom again. This should help.

i did all that but it said flash via adb for the devlik cache
If you are trying to flash an overclocked ROM your phone may not be able to handle it. Try to flash a stable rom such as CM6 and see what happens.
And please post your questions in the thread of the rom you are flashing or on the Q&A board.
I had the same problem and i was that i need to install a Kernel.
First we need to know what rom do you want to install.

I wipe/delete factory reset and wipe dalvik cache. Flash the zip, then restore data using cwm. It works for me.
I just did wipe cache & dalvik cache, installed the zip and it went OK.
I took a nandroid backup first, just in case, but it seems to be fine.

So far I've seen Cyanogenmod9 screenshots on Touchpad only in landscape. Is it possible to use ICS on touchpad in portrait mode? Could somebody with alpha1/2 post a screenshot?

First of all install the latest version of 4ext touch, if you are coming from previous version just do a wipe cache & dalvik and format all partitions except sd card and it boot up.
I have the problem flashing .25, flashed it with 4ext normal recovery, upgraded it and my problem resolved.

Hi all,
I have a problem with this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203700
I install the .zip file with CMW.
After wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, format system I reboot.
And the phone does not boot.
It stops at the LG logo.
Any solutions?
I tried also with TWRP

Dude 1st: format/wipe everything
2nd: install/flash rom
still nothing...
I install it again without re-flashing kdz
is it right?
or I need to flash the kdz, wipe all then install?
now I use TWRP recovery.

Probably now you have some kind of tutti-frutti of files in your phone...
Better flash your phone with .kdz or other method, after that follow the tutorial.
Did you flash from ICS? You need to be on V20 (JB) before you flash it.

Oh, just realised you stated you formatted system. You're not supposed to do that since /system contains the ROM, so it wouldn't boot past kernel logo.

Then what I could do?
Now I am on v20a with TWRP installed.
I need to reboot into recovery, do a factory reset, system wipe, cache wipe, data wipe and then install?
TWRP is the same of CMW?
Thanks

I sugest you to use adb instead of terminal.
Once that you facrtory reseted the phone, check if you didn't forgot nothing... root, etc...
Try install SuperSU if you have Superuser.

hi, I'm back with another problem: how to remove some horribles lines from my screen??
they are appeared after restore from twrp recovery.
but they seems to be an hardware problem...
I don't know
the restore was needed because of another failed flash of the rom in the title of this thread...
thanks

If its a hardware issue you should had it before...
You tried to do a clean install?
I have a odd issue with my phone. Every time I make or receive a call the phone freezes and I can't hear the other person, nor can they hear me. I am unable to hang up and have to wait for either them to hang up or for the phone to tell me it's not responding.
I am running CM10.1.
Any help would be appreciated!
