software update?

I just had a notification on my streak 7 that a dell software update was available. Though when I opened it up it said the same no updates...

Same here, message comes up every time you reboot it... just started today.

Me too Wonder what's up.

Whatever it is, it won't be anything major. Honeycomb won't come until at least July according to Dell's "roadmap".

i think we can all agree that even if it is only a release to increase stability, it will be welcomed gratefully.

I am so happy to see this post here as I was suspecting my system giving me more **** by flagging false update notice EVERYTIME i reboot the phone...
I just uninstalled the bloatware AccuWeather last night, so I thought it was because of that...
anyways,
whatever updates from dell should be welcomed, I guess.

Yes, I have Steve's updates and I got the notification. It seems to have stopped now.

maybe dell was doing a mass 'testing' of the devices on the field and an update is in the near future? :-s

[Q] Damaged Dell 7 housing

I justed dropped my Dell 7 and damaged the back case, has anyone found a place to order replacment part and installed it themself ?

Any local Streak Rooters?

Anyone on here local to Austin Texas? I really want to root my S7 but dont have windows and still cant seem to get my mac to fastboot.

I live in queens and go to school in midtown(Baruch) I could do it for ya. But I'd have to charge ya something(you actually would be my first client of the IT consulting company I started today)

You don't have to fiddle with Fastboot if you didn't apply to 2.2.2 update, FYI. You can simply use SuperOneClick, and then flash CWM and DJ_Steve's StreakDroid7 ROM.

So how much am I looking @?

You still have to have a pc to do SOC. My only pc is a laptop that runs vista and SOC wont run on it for me.

I used Vista to get CWM, then rooted rom. Just use drivers pre-loaded on
The sdcard.

When I try to use my laptop it says I need some Java JDK stuff and I have downloaded all the java JDK files I could and it still won't work. I was also told that SOC does not work on Vista so I gave up.

Not much man,, whatever you think is fair is cool with me. I can do it for you in just 5 minutes. I would do it for free but I'm trying to get my business off the ground and I have to start having that business mentality

SOC will only work if the DS7 isn't updated to 2.2.2, if it is flashing CWM recovery and a rooted Rom is the only option you have at the moment. I'm in DFW now, otherwise i'd say meet up at Austin Java Co or something ;b

I work at Georgetown airport mon thru fri, I am totally down for meeting anytime you want. Drop me a pm.

If you wanna put it in the mail ill do it for you. With a return label. But might I suggest holding out for a few weeks. Things may change with cwr.

no it would still be fastbooted but we may have to rewrite cwr not sure yet though. stay tuned. but im serious if you want too send it to me with a return label ill be more then happy too do it for you.

Revolution off the shelves

I called verizon and complained about my pos revolution and they offered a droid 4 without offering me another rev. I asked why and they said they took the revs off the shelves so no more replacement revs. If you have probs then call and they will offer somethine else. I took droid 4 because i wanted to try it out. Maybe they have other phones available. Im not sure. This was the 1st time i called about my rev. Just relaying the info I got. Enjoy

I must have taken the last one. I just ordered my 3rd device on Monday and it arrived Wednesday. I will have to come up with a problem with this one so I can get a different one

It was still under warranty but i also have insurance. I didnt pay so it was definitely warranty. Just told them i had probs with rebooting and right away he said he would send a droid 4 and then i mentioned my wifes phone was having issues as well and asked if i could get 2...he checked and said yes. So i got 2 droid 4. Called last Saturday and got phones on Tuesday

Yes just sent in revos after i received my d4s. No receipt probably cuz its in their computer as to when i got them

So is there any way I can purposely "break" my phone so I can use my warranty? \:

Just call and tell them that it randomly reboots itself and the screen freezes all the time, they will probably want to troubleshoot it. Just tell them youve deleted messages and apps and did a hard reset and it still does it.

Most likely means your store/area still has Revos and plus since your first replacement they'll try their best to keep you in the same phone.

Last time i called, i made up some issues and they offered me the bionic. Of course it was the third revo i had gone through lol!

When I send it in, should I do do a hard reset or set it back to stock?
And assuming worse comes to worse, should I back up all my apps etc. on my computer? Just incase?

Definitely make sure its stock with all traces of root removed. Just flash a .tot upgrade to zv9 then factory reset.

I'm on review #3 too, got it last week. I'm sure I'll need another one before September's upgrade.

Went through 4 revos before I was able to get the Nexus.

While that might be a nice program for beginners, I don't recommend it in the long run (unless you happen to know how to unlock and root manually already, which even then, you probably don't want to use a toolkit)

It works and most of my xda friends who are getting the new nexus are already rooted in their other devices. It works very well.
Besides, it's pretty difficult to brick a Nexus device.

That's not the point though. While it may work, most people that use toolkits have no idea what it actually does. If they ever do get in a situation where they have to manually root (or use another feature from the toolkit), they are probably going to be clueless...
But don't get me wrong, I too used to use the toolkit when I first got my Nexus 7. But I eventually learned how to do stuff without the toolkit, and I have to say it's pretty cool Knowledge is power

Google really seem to be getting a reaming on japanese blogs/2ch by people who are expecting FedEx to be as flexible as takyuubin companies regarding scheduled/night/weekend delivery.

You should then list your methods here. I have no problem with that. My method worked twice for me for rooting and a third time to add CWM recovery.

Nope, I received mine in 34 hours, 6:30pm on the 26th.
As soon as it hit "at local depot" I rang up customers service and had them set to "hold at facility for pickup".
Japanese customers that have never had any prior experience with FedEx are going to expect to be able to ring up and say "deliver on saturday in the afternoon" like it was Kuroneko Yamato or Sagawa Express and Homey don't play dat.
