I'm trying to get information on upgrading to 5.6.890. Right now I have 5.5.959 but I'm having a hard time finding info on this update on this particular forum...I'm not sure if it is supposed to be "secret" because it may or may not be the soak version, but is it safe to flash this over a rooted version of 5.5.959?
Thanks!
All the info is in this thread:

Or, just wait a week or two for the official release of Froyo.
Is that what we are talking about? One or two weeks?
Flashing the rom is not that big of a deal, was concerned about unlocking the bootloader for AT&T and what was required to do it. Didn't want to make a mistake and have a $500 paperweight
Still not sure where to go or what to download after reading the stickies about AT&T to unlock the bootloader before the flash.
when I got my phone 3 weeks ago, they said 1 or 2 weeks then also, lol....
I have the same type phone att/rogers. I did this then this (thx Jack)
Follow this until rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636795
then
Follow the guide for rooted N1s from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686326
using...
# Links for update.zip: [DOWNLOAD][MIRROR][MIRROR]
# How to update your rooted Nexus One: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686734
I followed both of those to the T and it all worked out, once or twice i had a problem or 2.... but I just renamed the recovery image and it worked..... and something else, over all... for a noob, I did pretty good, lol. Very glad I did, sooooo much faster, smoother and flash support
No rooting needed if you use the "originally" leaked FRF50 build .. just download to the phone and run the update.
You may use google to search for the file and the instructions
Good luck!
Edit: sorry, just realized you have an AT&T one. So, you may need to root. My one I got directly from Google and it does not need to be rooted.
does anyone have any idea how to update a testing version of moto x to the latest update? every time i check for updates it says there are none available. it is an xt1053 with a kernel from june
If the bootloader is unlocked download one of the other firmware packages then upgrade

How did you end up with a "testing version" of the software?
Anyways - I imagine that if you flashed the original firmware that you would probably be able to check for an update and receive it. But I could be completely wrong and you could wreck your phone trying (standard disclaimer). This link might help you...

The video tutorial I linked you to gives step by step instructions of how to do what you want to do. They even have a link to the files you mentioned. Did you look at the tutorial?
If it helps the xt1053 is the T-Mobile model. You could try flashing the T-Mobile firmware or unlock the bootloader to flash other versions.

So I just bought the XT1068 and I know that the L update is still not released in India so how can I flash it instead of waiting for the OTA? Any step-by-step guides would be helpful because I am quite the noob. My phone is brand new, just removed out of the box so please tell me how to flash the update.

Mate, I'd hold on a bit if I were you . You have to unlock your bootloader to flash these ROMs. Unlocking means losing your warranty (special case in India :crying. And there's also tiny bugs in those ROMs.

It all depends - while I will leave the research up to you, I was able to update without unlocking the bootloader on an xt1064. The trouble is that all the pieces have to fall into place correctly, meaning that you have to have the right update file for your build (and YOUR device - xt1068). My update process was haphazardly documented here. Basically, I started out with a carrier locked (Consumer Cellular) version of the phone, running their specific build. I unlocked the phone's sim lock via online vendor, flashed over the latest factory firmware I could find at the time (21.11.23.titan_retuaws). from there, I installed the specific update to go from 21.11.23 to 22.21.25 (where I am now). but that's the kicker - you need the OTA files that correspond to your exact build(s) and there may be more than one to get you all the way up to current.
Anyway, I did all of this using official, signed OTA files and firmware and more importantly, with a locked bootloader.

NIIIICEEE!!!!!! But the problem here is, we don't have Lollipop OTAs for XT1068/69 to do that.:crying:
Hello,
I'd like to know what the latest firmware of the XT1096 is so I can make sure the phone is running the most recent Verizon firmware and radios.
Here is the info for the device I have which is running crdroid 6.0.1.
bootloader version 6011
baseband MSM8974BP_4235210.110.09.13R
I think it had LP5.0 before sunshining, but I don't remember.
In any case, does anybody know what the latest firmware is (5.1 222.21.39, I think) and the best way to update it (hopefully fastboot)?
Also, would flashing the latest firmware lock the bootloader?
I searched this forum, but didn't find was I was looking for.
Thanks!

I believe that the mikeoswego's ROM in the link below is based on the latest VZW 5.1 ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/img-xt1096-victara-mofo-image-root-t3100145
You will not relock your bootloader by flashing any ROM.

The latest is probably this one here:
https://mega.nz/#F!ow8igZRL!Z7vmN8GOpez2bVMYDvEKkg!h9FWBQha
5.1 LPE23.32-25-5
The flashing commands for the full firmware are contained in the included flashfile.xml file. You need an unlocked bootloader to flash it with fastboot. Flashing a firmware does not relock the bootloader.
(I was a few seconds too late)

I flashed that file with success easily with RSD Lite. It updated the bootloader from 60.11 to 60.16. I think its the latest, I'll have to dig around the net to make sure. Thanks a lot. Bootloader still unlocked. woot!

Excellent! Now just make sure you never flash an earlier version of the bootloader or partition table, so you don't risk bricking the phone. Since you flashed stock factory firmware, you can check for official system updates from the phone. It's not likely Motorola will release any more updates for the Moto X 2014.

Does anyone know if I can take the current Verizon software update From Sept 1st NRD90M.G950USQU1AQGL. I Will I be able to revert back to the original stock OS version with Odin if I update it? Does SamPWND work on this or any updated OS software. I would like to get an update to allow me to use Bixby voice, the stock Rom is missing that, is there any safe update to take.
Reason I ask is that normally you need to stay on the original stock OS or downgrade if there is ever a bootloader unlock method ever found. I tried looking for this kind of info couldn't find it. Usually there is a thread with stock roms with this info but I can't find any. Any suggestions?

I took the first 2 Ota updates and flashed back to original firmware without problems before I switched to unlocked firmware. Sorry for the late response.

You should have no issue doing so as long as they don't mess with the bootloader
