So I may have dropped my phone into a puddle this morning but I did manage to take it out in less than 3 seconds and remove the battery.
I waited a few hours and tried to turn it on but it would not. Thinking it was still wet I left it in the sun today hoping it would dry out.
Just now I plugged it into the computer with the battery in and saw that it starts, but it only shows the HTC logo and then reboots. Does anyone know why this would be?
I'm going to let it dry out a little longer and I hope that'll fix it.
Any other advice?
Thanks
Ok, so I've put in a bag of rice overnight but it's still doing the same thing.
Sometimes it makes it up to the Stick Together logo but then it just reboots.
Is there anything else I can try? I need the Focus S to come out now
Ok, so did some fiddling, rebooting into Bootloader and recovery environment and now it turns on fine! Not sure what the problem was but it's all good. Yay.

Howdy,
So I flashed my phone to cm4.2 last weekend and everything has been quite dandy. But I now I have a problem, and I kind of doubt its from the cmod because that was a week ago and this problem happened yesterday...
Yesterday I was talking on the phone until the battery died. Then I rushed to my charger and plugged it in. I tried to turn it back on but it would not. It goes to the G1 screen then to the CM boot animation screen then the screen turns BLACK! IT will not stop doing this. I have to keep pulling out the battery. Last night I even pulled out the SIM and battery for a few minutes. Then put them back and tried again. Same result. I charged it fully last night (while off) thinking that might help. This morning after the LED light was green I tried again to reboot the phone.. Also sometimes the phone will do this reboot sequence after I plug the charger in, but it still goes to the blank/black screen... awww..
I am really hoping I do not have to wipe the phone and start over again with my apps and stuff because I have not really found a great free backuper and have not backed up within the last few days. I can use home+end call button to get to the bootloader (right name?) screen. However I am REALLY hoping I do not have to wipe.
Any solutions? I tried searching but could not find an answer..
THANKS!! This is basically terrible timing too because I leave on vacation tomorrow morning and will be needing my phone.
So, I've run into something that is scaring the crap out of me lol. If I turn off and on the phone while it is on the charger, the phone won't turn back on, it gives me the screen that the phone needs to be restored...if it isn't on the charger, all is well...anybody else able to reproduce this?
mine just reboots when you switch it off while on charge, but I charge from the mains, so not sure if its something it does from USB
I actually think my phone is faulty...it doesn't reboot at all...does the restore screen on or off the charger...gotta pull the battery to reboot...

I would tell your carrier about it and see if they can fix / replace it or find a solution.
I had the device replaced, it was faulty, all good with this one, and its much snappier, that one had some issue. All is great now, amazing phone
I had that happen once. But I let the phone die after buying it. So it didn't really have a charger to do anything. I put the phone into bootloader then pulled the battery. Haven't seen it since.
I had similar. Phone had no batt, so put it on charge (in a 3rd party car charger), and restarted. Showed a blank screen. Tried multiple times, removing the battery for over 30 seconds. I really thought it was bricked.
Put it on the official main charger and left it until fully charged and it worked fine. This happened about a week ago and its been fine since. So there could be a bug, but seems ok.
I think I figured it out, at least on my phone... I found that if I hold down the camera button, even slightly, while im rebooting the phone it will go into the restore screen. Turns out that the skin I have my phone in slightly depresses the camera button, and was causing this issue over and over again. I wonder if the same thing is happening while you guys are plugging in the phone? Anyone care to try it out?

Hi fellas, long time no see!
So, first of all, yes, I've used the search, but what I've found is threads about wet phones, mine I believe is already dry.
Situation: I'm in the club, glass of absolut and redbull in my hand, phone in my jeans pocket, extra glass of absolut w/redbull on the bar next to me. Fat drunk aproaches the bar and tips my glass with his elbow, all my drink spilled over my clothes. After a brief discussion I realized the guy was too drunk and was a worthless douche so I let it go. I reach for my phone and realize my pocket is soaked wet, when I take it out, phone is out, red light dim. So I turn it off, take it apart and forget about it til the next day. Next day, it began to turn on, but shut itslef off after a few secs, so I take it apart again (that is back cover, battery, SIM and sd, I dont have the screwdrivers to go further), cleaned what I could with alcohol, let it vent in front of a fan for a few hours, then in a bowl of rice for 2 days, no good.
So I got an extra phone and let it sit for more than a month. The other day I decided to give it another try and voila! it worked, had to be dry by now! used it for a day, left it charging, when I came back, it was off again, unresponsive. I have an extra battery, so I got one of those universal battery chargers, because I though the problem could be the phone not charging the battery. It was (even when the light turns on red and it says charging and all). So, first weird thing, light turns on red, screen says charging, but USB wont wont actually charge the battery if it is somewhere below.. 70% maybe, it does charge if it is lets say about 80% or above.
I used it like this for a week or so, and now, when I turn it on, after the bootscreen and the initial loop, the phone now powers itself off (with the text "turning off" -or whatever it says- and vibrating and all), even with the battery full. Tried with both batteries full, plugged in the usb (the light is green when full, and will even charge), erased battery stats (recovery works fine) but the damn thing wont load android properly!
Any ideas what might be causing this? it should be dry by now (its been like 2 months already and I let it vent and used the rice method), it doesnt smell funny (you know, like burnt, like when sth short circuits).
btw, also tried flashing the ROM again (i always have a couple in the sd just in case) and didn't work neither, does exactly the same.
i know it is a bit long to read but i wanted to give you the most insight i could. i know that it works! it did a couple days ago, but something got screwed with the startup and i dont know what it is!
i see that u tried flashing the ROM again, but just to be sure u did do a super wipe correct?
this is very strange though, and yeah it should be dried by now.
Thanks for the reply, and yes, I did! I'm sure that is not the problem :/
Hello everybody
Today I had me a horribad accident and ended up spilling coffee on my KFHD7. at first it seemed fine once I wiped it down, which was within 5 seconds. Then it went into fastboot mode and stayed there, so I shut it off. I put it in some rice for a bit to try and suck any moisture out, but now I've tried it again and it won't turn on, or respond to normal charging. I plugged it in with my factory cable (thanks SkOrPn :good and the screen just started cycling different colors; red, blue, white, etc. so i shut it off and jammed it back into the rice. anyone have any advice, other than maybe give it a little while? I just got cm10.1 running like a charm, and I was lovin' this thing. thanks all for any help
update: thanks to the jump start from the factory cable, its turned on again, although its not ready for active use. i think a few more days in the rice is a good call, since i saw a bit of a water mark on the screen but yeah. i recommend rice in this situation to anybody
Well I dropped my HTC one in the water, I quickly removed it, turned it off, dried it off and stuck it in a bag of rice. After about a hour it started restarting itself, only to the android boot screen then turns back off, approximately on for 3 seconds. I have tried holding the power button and the volume down to get to boot screen, I have selected all options but the phone turns back off before anything is actually done.
I left it to die overnight and waited a extra day before trying to charge it. After a minute of being plugged in the same bootloop occurs, I believe something is be shorted causing it to restart. What should I do? I would have to open the phone I assume.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I didn't respond because I wanted to test out your theory and report back after. The battery was already depleted so I didnt have to power down. I did leave it in rice for a week or so, put the phone on charge and it seems the same problem is occurring somehow. Not sure what happened to cause it, it must be getting shorted out somehow but after a week I would think it should be fine. Not sure what to do now, I may take it to a repair person but don't want to pay much money to get it fixed when the phones not worth as much anymore.
