[Q] 3.2.x OTA Update - Xoom Themes and Apps

I rooted the Xoom and have HC 3.2. However starting a few days ago, the Xoom keeps prompting me to install an OTA.
How do I get it to never OTA or tell me that there is an OTA?
Thanks.

I think there was a thread for 3.1 to stop the prompt but i didnt see one for 3.2....damn prompt. I get it and i have tiamat

There are threads in the Developer forum that offers downloads and instructions on how to upgrade from 3.2 to 3.2.1 HTK75D without losing root.

if you run tiamat 2.2.1 moray then go to developer forum thread and download then flash mod pack 3....I will attach here for reference as well...will not work for stock honeycomb though. Check developer thread foot updating without losing root as mentioned above.

I can confirm that the mod disables OTA's on Tiamat 2.2.1

Z4root and super one click havent worked for me..
thanks for your time...
EDIT: i cant post the link here put there is a page on droid-life.com titled "root droid 1- regardless of os version" the instructions there worked for me.
Did you get the ota link when you updated?

is there a version of this that we can apply without loosing root?
just want a stock version w/ root
I am at android version 2.2 build FRG22D rooted
and just want to get the FRG83D update
similar to what Pete does
http://www.peteralfonso.com/p/downloads.html
after looking at the update list I would only be interested in the new twitter app, new gmail app, and news/weather widget. It seems it might just be easier to find these apk's individually and install on FRG22D rather than deal with the upgrade.
Unless there's something else worthwhile in the upgrade that I'm missing...
I didn't notice anything different after upgrading.

Honestly...I still do it the old fashioned way, and it hasn't served me wrong.
Good old RSD Lite lol.
RSDLite still works.
I know that for the X, z4 still works too. I'd imagine it does the D1 too.
Nope, z4root doesn't work anymore on D1

Did you use the small FRG83D-from-FRG22D file (under the OTA section) or the full FRG83 DeOdexed?
Or is that smaller file just what Verizon sent out?
I successfully rooted my Droid1 using SuperOneClick tonight.Downloaded it from XDA tonight. It reverts back to frg83.I am a complete dummy but the instructions were simple.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
ok, not knowing what was added in Peter's build, I used a rooted stock build posted by metiCkOne (link below) that included busybox and superuser.
I didn't even wipe data, updated on my rooted FRG22D with SPRecovery.
After that I just re-installed my preferred kernel update to get a higher overclock setting.

hi,i used the latest download from peteralfonso.com website -its for stock roms -a star is beside it to let you know its the latest version....just click on deodexed(i used this version*)-it will download to rom manager-flash using clockwork mod recovery-this worked for me -i was rooted on 2.2 before i flashed this and didn't lose root afterwards....hope i answered your question,i'm still new at using android os(coming from apple os)
ps:use your xda app on your android phone-much easier to apply downloads
To everybody trying to root just factory reset and then use a one click rooting method
No ever since i got froyo second update FRF22 i never being able to get 1 click root solution.

[Q] Is there a GRJ22 full update direct download?

I am looking to build my own ROM based on GRJ22 / 2.3.4 using dsixda's kitchen. Is there a full stock version of 2.3.4 available for download from Google? The only direct download links I can find are just an update from GRI40.
Answering my own question since I did some investigating to find the URL:
I downgraded to and older Froyo 2.2 (FRG83D) stock ROM and was setting it up. After a moment I got an update notification for Gingerbread MR2. It said it had already downloaded it and was ready for install so I thought "Hmm, maybe I can reboot into recovery and find the file".
I found the file name in /cache after mounting it and then pasted that on the end of the normal OTA update URL and...
Code:
android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/passion/b90257ed8cd3.signed-passion-ota-121341.b90257ed.zip
It is 87.6 MB so I assume it is a full update. Hopefully this is useful for someone wanting to update or build custom ROMs on 2.3.4.
Edit: Can't post links yet... :\
Just wondering. Is that link a full 'install'? Could I load that over any version on my Nexus S?

It is a full install for Nexus One (I did a wipe from Froyo and then flashed this and worked fine). I'm not sure if the N1 and NS images are the same. If they are then I guess this would work.
Ah I just noticed you were talking about the Nexus One. I don't think it will work since the One and the S have different code names, source.android.com/source/building.html#choose-a-target

Try the following link… use the clean GRI40 rom and the modified update.zip patch to update the rom to GRJ22, then dump the nandroid to make your custom rom. Follow the instructions in dsixda’s kitchen for nandroid dumps. Works perfect.

[Q] verizon gtab wants to update software to gingerbread

Verizon software update wants to update from froyo to gingerbread on my gtab, will the root survive and will verizon b able to see the root? If so, can i disable update, it reminds me every 30 mins.
You will lose your root. I don't think vzw can see that you are rooted. I had no problems with my update with my rooted tab. Too get root back you have flash a pre-rooted rom. Right now I'm using "Galaxy Cuded" from the dev section, very stable.

I too am running the ROM from the Dev section. It comes pre-rooted, thank goodness. Haven't had any issues with it so far either. Very stable.

[OTA LEAKS] DROID 3 (XT862) 5.7.902 AND 5.7.905 Updates from QA Server

Hello!
These are updates going for DROID 3 owners on the Verizon Wireless network. The 5.7.902 and 905 update does include a kernel, BP and bootloader update.
This update is known to quite a few but was not actually released fully due to the fact that it was not rootable and cannot be FXZ flashed back to 5.6.890.
This changed on February 11, as Hashcode rose up and said using the D4 root exploit can root this update. This was correct, I have used the exploit to root the 5.7.902 update. A lot have risen to say both the 5.7.902 and 5.7.905 update are rootable using the exploit below.
Disclaimer: It is your choice to update your phone to this, not mine. If in any way do anything happen to your phone that never happened before, you are responsible. I am not responsible for anything that happens, ill effects or not, to the phone.
**OTA ROOTKEEPERS DO NOT WORK, PLEASE PROCEED WITH CAUTION**
THERE IS NO WAY BACK TO STOCK.
AFTER SEEING REPEATED PROBLEMS, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU FLASH THIS UPDATE WHILE ON A STOCK 5.6.890 OR OTHER UPDATE.
DO NOT FLASH OVER AN ICS ROM OR ANY ROM. IF YOU HAVE PERFORMED THE TBH DROID 3 RADIO HACK YOU ARE RECOMMENDED TO NOT INSTALL ANY LEAKS.

*Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is HIGHLY integrated with Google+, and the app is usually only added as a bloatware addon if the phone is being prepared to see Android 4.0. Just this means we could be one step closer to getting a official ICS update!

Aaron, did it work? Also, did Hash tweet that this works? I'm sorry, but I just want to hear it from the man himself...I'd be very upset if I lost root.

Ohhhh thank you for this..
my phone has run solo much better on maverick 3.0 which has the 902 system files
can't wait to see how much better it runs with the complete update
thanks again!
clarification please
I've seen this OTA update posted elsewhere a week ago. I want to try it, but don't want to get stuck again in a dead-end OTA update leak.
So just to clarify - because this leak is now root-able, this means we can fxz back to 5.6.890?
I've seen theres a 5.7.905 update out now from the Production Servers will this be available?
mavrom 3.0 already uses the files from this OTA

This wont put ya in a dead-end area of OTA updates unless the update coming in a few weeks is different.
KEEP IN MIND: The ONLY way to get back to stock 5.6.890 is to flash a rom based on 5.6.890, or 5.7.894. (Hashcode's ICS, Steel Droid 4.5, etc..)

You can't FXZ flash back to 5.6.890, I've tried. I ended up bricking the phone and had to get VZW to send me a new one haha.

What? Why wouldn't you be able to SBF using this method :

You can access m+power regardless of what OTA/ROM you flash?

[Q] SlimICS 3.6 - no OTA

(firstly, apologies this is not on the developers ICS thread but i don't have enough posts to post in that section at this point).
Just a quick question...updated to SlimICS release 3.6 last week and just noticed that only the ROM update is available via the OTA option...has anyone else had this problem ?
If nobody else has had this then do I need to reflash the ROM to resolve this issue ?
Many thanks in advance !

It's a feature not a problem. When a new version comes out, "update me" app will alert you. You proceed through the app to download the base and essentials. Once both are on the sd, reboot to cwm and flash from there.
You do not need to reflash.

Thanks for your reply although I don't think my initial post was very clear.
Since updating to 3.6 the add-ons OTA is not available...the only option available is to check to see if a new ROM is available.
On 3.5 I had the option to install add-ons OTA.
This is why I am wondering if I need to re-apply 3 6.
Thanks again.

Try the back button, mine default opens to the ROM section. Otherwise try reinstalling the update me app, clearing data may help also. Make sure the app is updated.
If that all fails, reflash the ROM, you would probably need a wipe.

Good call on the Update Me google play update...it wasn't showing in my downloaded apps, yet when I selected it, it was offering an an update.
Updated to 1.2.0 and everything was then as expected. Thanks very much for your help.
Interestingly, I can see 3.7 has just been made available...so another update required. It's now suggested that a "full wipe" is undertaken - just wondering what exactly this covers ? Normally do a cache and Delvik cache wipe, so not sure what additional things should be done this time round. I'd ask this in the dev thread but cannot post there as of yet.
