WILL ANYONE EVER WORK ON HONEYCOMB FOR THE SGT?
WILL THERE BE ANY DEVELOPMENT FOR IT?
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR THE GSM VERSION.... THIS SO SAD

Next time I will buy an Ipad. You see apple offers something called support and comparability.Hah android and my sh...t.Never again android. It runs on my device - ooppps it doesn't runs to your's.And don't hear about closed platforms. There is cydia and more

I dont see the problem.
No discussion about the better stability. Its an effect of the closed system.
I dont like a closed system where im not even able to send one song of my sd card to a friend.
So you buy an ipad and i continue enjoing my perfectly running galaxy tab.
Not running honneycomb thou. Overcome with density 185 and vtl launcher in landscape mode.
Bye

L.O.L.
After having spent considerable time with both I have determined that android is much more friendly to those who prefer customization.
My most frustrating experience with support and compatibility involved a jailbroken iphone. Pick one or the other, stability or customizability, because the nature of iDevices does not allow for both...and apple makes sure of it.
Once in a while, though, you can find both in an android. The trick is realizing when you have found it and being content.

I still love my Android. As soon as the 10.1 comes out for t-mobile I am gonna scoop one up.
Apple is for novice users.... I like to be in control of what I own and willing to customize my own and not be locked into being narrow minded.
cheers!!!

I think it's not important that samsung will not release HC officialy for sgt 7.
The important thing is we can customize our system in android but in iOS you cannot eat water without apple permission

I feel like my prayers are being answered and someone is watching over me.
hint(maybe its the Dev's)
see below thread started yesterday. can't wait.
Many thanks goes out to Dariolob, Spacemoose and Oldmancut!!!!! Devs are awesome!!!

[Q] Honeycomb Performance Questions

For those brave souls using Honeycomb daily on their Nooks, what kind of tweaks are you doing to help with performance/compatibility?
Thanks in advance!
Bot
I'd also like to know if there are tweaks you can do to makc HC stable/perfered for the nook, anyone using it full time?
If you already have it installed on the eMMC with an overclocked kernel you have done all you can do.
Honeycomb development pretty much died the day Google said that their was going to be no source code release. We might never see a "stable" Honeycomb for the Nook Color.
With that said, many people has been working on making Froyo and CM7 better in Honeycomb's absence. I personally think the Tablet Tweaks CM7 version is more useable than even the Honeycomb on a Xoom I tried (at least our SD card slots work), and for people who are DYING for Honeycomb there is the NookieComb which is Froyo hacked to act like Honeycomb.
Take a look at the development forum for more information.
you can turn off all transition animations to get a bit of a speed boost...also opera mobile is much faster (but not as nice) as the HC browser
im running it off emmc and its actually very stable for web/reading...video isnt great yet and there is a bit of UI lag but IMO very usable...
I thought Google said they just delayed the 3.0 release. I read into that that 3.0 is a disaster right now and they are still trying to make it a clean product. I think Ipad is scaring them and they are moving into overdrive at Google trying to get ahead (meaning 3.0 came out before it was really ready).
I totally agree. Google doesn't want to let a half baked product out the door when you know the ipad 2 will be stellar.

The head developer of Android has said that AOSP won't be released until the phone features are merged, which means no code until Ice Cream.
So if the original ETA for Ice Cream was summer 2011, then I guess we see nothing until at least Christmas?
Meaning that Android tablets have been dealt a death blow for <b>another</b> year?
I am so glad for the independent developers working so hard at XDA.

i could be wrong but am pretty sure something will get 'leaked' before then....
I don't think Google minds -too- much that they are slowing down tablet development anyway. They've made it clear they want the "final solution" for tablets to be ChromeOS. Android for tablets is just a stop-gap measure.

Ice Cream Sandwich for O2X!

Not sure if everyone here has heard the news from Google's I/O, but they have announced that Google is setting a guideline for updates to phones, and many companies have agreed to give timely updates to their phones for at least 18 months from release.
LG is one of them so this is good news and will most likely mean that our phones will live to see an official Ice Cream Sandwich build
I would be getting it from CM regardless
Does anyone know whether this agreement is retroactive though? Might not include the *2X
First, LG agreed to that terms AFTER the O2X release, so that phone isn't concerned.
Second, they add "if hardware can follow", which is the magical sentence for manufacturer to explain why, finally there will be no update (even if that's total bullsh*t).
Bottom line is, nothing new, still the same.
But, it doen't mean we won't have ice cream Sandwich either
Let's hope for it.
Even though the news are good, Google making some pressure to manufacturers develop android updates, thing is that ice cream is said by Google to be released Q4 2011...hmph, how long for LG2X to have IC? Q2 2012?

I hope we'll get Ice Cream Sandwich. But let LG first bring Gingerbread to us all!
I am doing a noob question... i red about hardware problems of o2x getting ice cream sandwich. I mean that it seems ice cream rom is going to be very heavy, about 500 MB... so the ram available is not sufficient to run this OS... can someone confirm this problem?

That's just stupid. Neither the Nexus One nor the Nexus S have more than 512mb of memory.

It's not so stupid because this could be the excuse for LG to decide to stop ice cream on the 2x like they did with optimus chic: the 01 will be upgraded to gingerbread while the chic (that has similar hardware) will not. It's just commercial strategy.

Yeah i know the difference but the OS is loaded during boot in to the ram isn't it? So how much free ram do you think are you going to find after booting the phone?
Anyway my personal opinion is that this prevision of how much heavy will be ice cream is for tablet's only... i hope phone's one will be smaller

I understand you. I encountered only once the freeze problem and that's all. No problem so far and i tried cm7 and modaco that make this phone incredibly faster. Anyway it's true there are a lot of problems but theese are going to be fixed by lg's software update and then by community. In Italy a lot of people are selling 2x at incredible low prices and i can't understand why...

The Acer Iconia A100 is a Honeycomb tablet with 512MB RAM, so the *2X is gonna be fine.

I'm a CM7 user as well, coming from Nexus S to Optimus 2x and I would say the same only after we got a stable mod. I'm using Nightly #23 right now and it's great... but far from a beast ATM. Let's remember about bluetooth audio problems, no HDMI, 1080p video recording or FM Radio for instance. Nightly CM7 it's already great, but there's a lot of little things to be fixed.
Unexperienced users should keep away for now, is called Nightly and experimental version after-all.
There is HDMI out

Do you think IOS5 will be an overhaul?

With Android getter bigger and better seemingly by the minute and WP7's fancy interface it seems like IOS is old news, WWDC starts June 6, do you think they will unveil IOS5 there? And what do you think will be the improvements? Minor or Major?
I think Apple has the hardware already and its only gonna get better but the OS is starting to kinda age a bit, it just dosnt seem as fresh as it once was.
Im gonna keep my eye on what Apple and MS have in store as one of those will be my next choice.
Yeah im sure apple has to have something awesome up their sleeve because android is killing them( sorta). Im excited to see what they well bring as well.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I bet ios 5 will have some pretty big changes, if not they'll just get left further behind. I'll find out soon at wwdc though.
It looks like there going to copy something from android.
I am really interested what they would copy then since all 3 OS systems are based already on each others succeses . Better to copy good then badly develope.
If it's going to be something entirely new its going to be aimed at the general public since Apples OS isnt really tweaker friendly, thats the category where Andoid is strong.
No i dont think so. Knowing apple, they don't mess up with their models or.system.too much

They need to revamp their notification system.
Lack of push notifications is one thing I can't stand about iOS (UI wise)
Sent from my Captivate. Andromeda 3, Onix 2.0.5 @ 1.2Ghz
I have to agree with the posts above. I think they will revamp the whole OS. Android is getting better and better. They are going to have to do something to keep current.
IOS5
I bet it looks a lot like android lol
they are going to get stuff from android and call it a "revolution"
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
The rumo(u)rs (for you brits) says that iOS5 will get better notification system and widgets. Just a rumo(u)r though.
But we all know that Apple always have a plan. Nothing they do is by coincidence.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I hope they overhaul the interface and incorporate a few features from Android, such as a notification bar and widgets.
Also think nothing is to worry them there cult following is around tthis earth
mm android is not bad, im more like ios user lol
Here's my opinion. They have a fine line to walk. On the one hand, they can't (or won't) change too much, lest they risk alienating their "regular consumer" user base. There are things that previous posters mentioned, like better push notifications, some limitations that some Google apps have.... But they will have to something as Android is becoming very popular. You can tell Steve Jobs doesn't like it either because in one of their last earnings calls He lambasted Android and that's a cardinal rule of business, never mention the competition, especially by name. On the other they really should do something, I mean 3.5 inch screen in 2011? Really!?!!?

I belive there isn't much ram on sgs to run ICS
And anyway, we have CyanogenMod. It will surely be updated to ICS.
One way or another we will get it.
How relatively well it will run on our device is another matter.

Totally agreed. There is hardly even enough ram for gingerbread to run as smoothly as froyo.
Android developers claimed today that ics is lighter and snappier. So i guess that means it will require less ram then gb. Its newer version so it is obvious they tried to make it lighter.
