[Q] Help-connecting to PC - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all
I have a friend with SGS Froyo 2.2.1 JPY and he want to flash GB. The problem is that he can't connect to the PC. He have installed Kies and when he plug the phone nothing happen, only sound for connecting and charging . The PC didn't recognize the phone at all. Try different cable, different PC, Factory Reset and nothing. We try with my phone and there is no problem on the same PC's. Also try with external card and the card is not recognized too. Change usb settings from kies to mass storage and back, again nothing.
So please help, any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Problem with usb afer flashing JP6

After flashing to JP6 (which works ok) i'm unable to connect thru usb.
Odin wont connect, Kies wont connect, mass storage doesn't work.
I noticed that after the flash, when i connect the wall charger a popup appears asking me how to connect (kies, mass storace, etc).
When i connect the normal usb cable to the phone and computer, nothing happens. It charges, but doesn't connect.
I tried uninstalling and installing kies, reboots, wipe cache, factory resets..
Anyone??

Click to collapse
I am definitely not an expert of anykind at all but it sounds like to me that the new software has the mapping for those 2 fuctions backwards.
Dont know if this can be changed by some simple "re-programming" or not but that is waht it sounds like to me.
If Im wrong anyone... Please correct me. I am always looking to learn!!!
You should go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB settings -> select Ask on connection.
when you connect, does it reboot and loop into a charging mode ie: showing a battery and a "wait" icon?
If so, I had the same issue with my first device within 3 days of using. Only thing I did was rooting and Voodoo fix (i'm not sure if I used the lagfixed for my device or for another one). If you have the same issue, I think you could revert back to stock using an SD card to transfer an update.zip of a stock image, might be worth a try
Guys, thanks for the help. When i woke up today, i gave it another try, and it worked like it should..
Still al little confused though..

[Q] Usb problem after flashing to 2.3.2

Can anyone please help me?
I flashed my sgs with odin to 2.3.2 i downloaded the files from samfirmware.com, everything is working fine just like the other times i flashed my sgs, the only thing is: my pc's and laptop don't reconize my sgs at all, the win pop-up tells me the usb device isn't reconized becouse it't broken. It doesn't even try to install drivers, so i did thay manualy. Still the same! Next i tried with two other (new, original) usb cables... No succes. Then i tried other pc's with different versions of windows, again... No succes.
For the record:
my sgs does charge when connected to usb
Tried usb debugging
Tried factory reset
Odin cant find phone
No mass storage
No kies
No mediaplayer
Okay my question: does anyone know how to fix this?
If no, can anyone create a update.zip to flash back to stock eclair or froyo?

[Q] USB Problem + recovery

Hi all,
I have a huge problem. I dont have USB mode anymore. When I plug the phone to my PC, it doesnt ask me if I want to connect it as a storage mass. It is only charging; windows doesnt recognize a new device too, so I cant use nvflash.
Besides, I dont have the recovery mode, I cant use it to install an previous rom...
Can you help me please ?
I have the same problem on my G2x after flashing ClockWorkMod...
I had the same problem. I asked the retailer for an exchange. However, just before I returned it, the phone was plugged in to my laptop USB for charging and all of a sudden there was a notification saying that USB was connected. I had done a factory reset before this but it hadn't helped.
You could try enabling Hidden Menus and then in Port Settings try changing from AP USB to CP USB and see if it helps.
Also, try reinstalling the drivers on your computer.

[Q] Can't connect to pc

Hi,
Maybe for you this is a standard question. But i've got a problem. When i connect my phone to my pc nothing happens on my phone. My pc sees an unknown device and can't install the driver for the device. That's because nothing on my phone happens. This is so on all my pc's at home. So how can i solve this problem..
I'm running JVR Odexed with Darkcore 3.0
Again this same.
You have installed a Kies? It solved my problem with this
uninstalled it ; no difference..
reinstalled kies, put usb option in galaxy and conect to pc.
already did everything, odin doesn't recognize it either when i have it in download mode..

very weird pb.please help

Hy guys,
I was trying the other day to flash a friends Galaxy S stock 2.2 but i couldnt connect the phone to the pc. In the pull down menu, it didnt appeared the dialog to click to go for usb mass storage or anything.
I've selected USb Debugging, clicked in the options for USB Mass Storage, and when i connect the phone to PC and cable, both play the connected sound, but still nothing more. What could be the pb? and how can i solve it?
Pleaaaaase help
And thanks in advance
also to mention. I'm running win 7 on 64bits, drivers installed correctly and my phone has no pb at all when it comes to connect it to the PC.
So....Odin not recognizing, PC not recognizing phone...what to do....?
try different ports or re-install your drivers(kies) take a look on the Themes and Apps section i saw a thread for drivers... try on a different computer....
have tried reinstalling the drivers, also using all the ports available on my pc. still the same pb.:-<
