Halo everyone!
i need your help wherever you can.
i have a galaxy tab p1000 from MTN in south africa. last week i downloaded overcome kernel and tried to install it through CWM. i download the script to check if my bootloader was blocked, it said no. so i proceeded with the install and everything was ok. then i got a 32GB sd card and moved all my games to there.
what i never realised is that the gyro stopped working with all the games using it.
i thought maybe it was the new kernel, so i decided to restore back the original which i made a backup. after the restore finished my tab just got stuck on the screen where it shows galaxy tab. i can't go to recovery mode anymore but i can go into download mode. So i got a thread on this forum which talks about bricked tabs, i followed the steps but everytime the flashing fails. now my tab is longer detected by my laptop and i still get the same problem.
im still able to get to download mode.
Please if you get reffer me to any solutions that you have come accross, i would really appreciate it!
Thanx
Go to samfirmware.com and download the version of your firmware. Reflash that, be aware that you may need to recheck the bootloaders. Best advice I can give...
For about a week now my samsung galaxy tab p1000 keeps freezing on the samsung logo screen and every minute ore so vibrates very short.
No matter how long i wait it keeps like that . Ive tryed the reset from the recovery mode (powerbutton + volume up) but no luck. The tab is still on a stock fw 2.2 i believe. and no root or anything.
Im very new on the whole rom stuf so some help is needed on how to restore the tab. I havent flashed it or anithing. Also it gives a error like in the screenshot below:
You should flash your tab and install a new firmware that's the only solution

oke i figured that much yesterday, when reading some topics, but wich rom do i need to use?? because i dont know how to root the tab because it wont boot ore is rooting not a must?
dude... get the latest 2.3.3 firmware...
you may check www.samfirmware.com to see latest firmware for your deivce. If you are in ASIA region, look for JPI edition. Its good, fast and stable.
Use ODIN to flash, with REPARTITION ENABLE... once complete flashing, reboot, and repeat the FLASHING again... DO IT TWICE..., but REPARTITION ONCE only...
Do i have to fully boot between flashing, or after first flash straight to download mode?

Im at your same state. My tab hangs on samsung logo and lets me to download alone. I can help you with the drivers part. Im sure you have the Kies in your system. Just push the on button and connect your phone to the pc and run Kies. You have an option to troubleshoot which will update the drivers for your phone. This worked for me. For the rest of the part, there is a chap who is helping me on this forum and he advised me to go for stock ROM. Ill try that today after sufficiently charging up my phone.
I ve been searching for a while now and looks like this is common and nothing much to worry about. Ill keep you posted on what happened on my attempt to odin flash the stock ROM.
Hello friend, my tab is back and working fine now. Hope tried connecting kies to get your driver up for the tab. Once its up you can get to the download and flash stock rom using odin. This would bring your phobe back to life.
I am currently running on overcome experience rom. Its pretty good and they have great instructions on their site. Try that you should be all set.
Best of luck.
I have the exact same issue. I've been trying to flash a Euro 2.3.3 for the last 5 hours. Anything special you did before I create a new thread? I've done this a billion times on my old tab....I just got this one today off ebay.

Can you be more specific on the state of your G-Tab?
What firmware were you using before the problem occurs?
if you are updating from proyo, you will need to flash dbdata.rfs. For your reference you can follow these following steps (given you can access download mode).

Use the latest version of odin. Also go into download mode before connecting to pc. Plase thank me if you found this useful.
My father in law bought a new phone SGS on O2 and I offered to unlock it as I have unlocked my husbands last week (he's was on O2 as well but in 2.1 or 2.2.1 version I think-froyo?)
Before I continue may I say I know you guys out there know so much more than me and I really need your help. I really tried to help unlocking this phone and for hours I searched and read things like reboot, download mode, recovery mode, flashing, JKV and so many other words and letter that I could not understand. Very few I understood in the end but may have messed up badly (?).
Please, I need help and please treat me as if I were your mum or even grandma. Step by step in simple normal English please.
My father in law's version is 2.3.3
I tried unlocking it the way I unlocked my husband's but didn't work. After looking for hours I thought that the best way to do it would be to downgrade from 2.3.3 (gingerbread (?)) to 2.2.1 (froyo (?)) and then unlock it.
I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089989
and tried to follow it.
I downloaded EZRom and EZboot-Froyo-1.0.tar.md5 from the same post.
I followed:
•Download the right version from section above
•Reboot your phone into Download mode
•Connect your phone to computer
•Run EZOdin
•Select EZboot-Froyo-1.0.tar.md5 or EZboot-GingerBread-1.0.tar.md5as a PDA file in EZOdin
•Check the "Phone Bootloader Update" checkbox
•Click Start
I waited for the phone to turn off and feel the little vibration but didn't. Instead it just froze at the first screen when you turn on the phone. The black background with white letters: Samsung Galaxy...
I waited and waited and as nothing was happening I then I took the battery out. Put it back in and tried turning it on. I wouldn't it would just stop and that same screen, the black and white one.
I reread
•Wait until phone reboots and make it reboot into Recovery
SO then I remembered in the many threads I read about the recovery mode so 3 clicked vol up + button at them bottom and turn on bottom.
It gives me a few options. When I click on reboot all it does is show me the black and white screen again and nothing else. ah!!!
I took the battery off and put it back on many times, I also selected the fatory reset option and tried different buttons but nothing. Please help me.
I'm happy to phone any of you guys to help me and guide me even if it's just to put the phone back to what it was before, turning on normally, etc. I'm feeling really sad and a bit stressed as these days are supposed to be a nice time to spend with my little ones and family.
Anyway, please ask me anything.
Thank you so much in advance. I really hope I didn't do anything wrong and I'm just stuck because I'm ignorant in this matter. Thank you
I was never a fan of EZ-stuff.
That said, think you can easily solve that flashing your phone with odin and a proper rom. At this point i am unclear about what bootloaders you have on your phone since you've tried a downgrade.
Without getting into further details (sorry, at work atm). You can get tutorials easy for all of this around this forum.
I'd get Odin, get a proper stock rom from samfirmware with bootloaders included and flash it fresh from start with that. Doesn't really matter if it's froyo or ginger as long as it includes bootloaders.
You'll be left with a working phone at this point.
From here, if you still want to try to unlock it, i'd flash a kernell that would get me root (like the ChainFire one) since i find this the safest and easiest way of getting root on your phone and do a backup of your EFS partition (preferably saved in your computer or wherever outside your phone). This is very important, if you lose of mess up with this part of your phone it will be a pain.
Now, there are several ways of unlocking this phone, the only one i found to be most reliable (but not the easiest one) is to manually edit the nv_data.bin file (located in your EFS partition in hexadecimal.
There's a tut right here

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply although you are working!!! Really appreciate it.
I'll try your suggestion but I don't know how to choose the right stock rom with bootloader from samfirmware. I went to the website and registered but don't really know what to do.
I know you are working so might not be able to help me, may be someone else?
Here's where I am. Update. I found a list of firmware. This is the last one on Samfirmware.com.
Europe Samsung I9000 Firmwares.
I9000XXJVS ##
512.PIT
2.3.5
2011 September 8
CSC = I9000OXAJVS
DOWNLOAD
Things I need: (I think)
-Download a firmware (should I use the lastest one?) or 2.2 or 2.3.3? . Is there one better than the other? or is it my choice? How can I choose the best one for me?
-Odin. I have OdinMultiDownloader v4.03 in my desktop. Is that the best thing to use or should I use Ezodin. I don't know what the difference is.
-(Do I need to download or do anything else?)
Things I should do:
-Put phone in download mode
-Plug it to the laptop
-Open Odin (or Exodin?)
-click PDA. Choose the fie I downloaded-firmware.
(-after this I don't know what else I should do or tick or untick)
Am I in the right track or completely off it?
Thank you again to anyone taking the time to read this.
Download Jvt From sammobile. com, you need Odin on your PC (1.7 or 1.8) plus Samsung drivers. Read there flashing guides carefully, check you have download
Mode, battery charged > 50% etc
There is also a video on youtube which shows you how to upgrade to jvt.

Sounds like you've got the boot-loop problem, which means that you most likely "soft-bricked" the phone. Don't worry, this isn't that big of a deal and can be fixed with relative ease. I agree with the posters above, a clean flash with Odin will probably fix your problem and get you out of the boot-loop.
I'll go into a bit more detail with some steps (feel free to correct me if I missed anything)
1. Download Odin 1.85 here.
2. Head over to Samfirmware.com and grab the latest firmware for the phone. I recommend Gingerbread 2.3.5 (JVT).
3. Make sure your computer has the proper drivers installed so it can communicate with your Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000. If you've flashed the phone before with your computer then you probably have the drivers installed, but here's a link for them just in case: Samsung USB Drivers
4. Enter download mode on your phone, depending on your firmware, it could be Vol down + power + home OR Vol up + power + home. Pull the battery out, pop it back in, and hold those three buttons until the phone turns on.
If you can't enter download mode with the 3-button hold method, then you might have to do so via ADB with the command "reboot download".
Getting into download mode is pretty critical, as you cannot progress further without it.
5. Once you're in download mode (should see a triangle with an Android shoveling stuff in it), plug your phone into your computer's USB port and open Odin. In Odin, press "Reset" on the right hand side. Odin should be able to detect your phone (this is indicated by a yellow box on the left side). I'm using a PC, so inside the yellow box I see something like this: 0:[COM9]. On a Mac it probably says something different, but as long as you see the yellow box appear then it's all good.
If you don't see the yellow box, then there's no communication between your phone and the computer, which means that you may have to reinstall the Samsung USB drivers.
6. With the contents in the firmware package that you downloaded from Samfirmware.com extracted, load them onto Odin accordingly.
PIT: use s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA: JVT (sometimes the PDA is labeled CODE instead)
PHONE: JVT (sometimes labeled as MODEM instead)
CSC: use HOME-MULTI-OXAJVT (should be about 9.5 MB in size)
Since your father-in-law's phone was originally 2.3.3, you shouldn't have to alter the bootloader with Odin, so leave the bootloader field empty.
7. Once you've loaded up all the necessary files, make sure Re-partition and Auto-reboot is checked. Leave the rest of the checkboxes as it.
8. Press Start. This should initialize the flashing of the new firmware. After the phone has been flashed, it should reboot automatically and should hopefully be able to get past the Galaxy S black and white logo (aka. boot loop).
9. The phone should be in working order now. I used this method to unlock my SGS: SIM Unlock on the SGS. With this method, your phone needs to be rooted, so head on over to ChainFire's thread here to install his kernal which is already rooted.
Flashing firmware can be pretty scary since nobody wants to end up with a brick that costed $400 and it seems like so much can go wrong, but hopefully the steps I've provided helped. Good luck!
Hi there, I am new to this forum as I am trying to fix my gf's Samsung Galaxy S i9000M on Bell.
I tried to search up boot loop and have tried a few different ideas on the board but it doesn't seem to work.
Would like to know if anyone can help.
Here are the specs: Samsung Galaxy S i9000M - unrooted / stock.
Problem: The phone when turned on will only show the "Samsung Galaxy S I9000M" screen. It will turn black and then reloop itself. I have tried the 3 button boot to "download mode" and have successfully connected to ODIN.
I have tried to download PDA/Phone/CSC from one of the pages on this forum containing North American firmware files.
However, the problem still persists! I cannot check the OS version as I can't get the phone to boot into the OS. Is this a bootloader corruption problem? What should I do to try to fix this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU in advance.
I assume you want Gingerbread?
If so, you want the UGKG3 download from Bell (it's the only GB ROM from Bell to date).
Go here and search for UGKG3.
The file is in 7Zip format. If you do not have anything to unpack it with, download IZArc.
Thanks for responding so quickly.
I did try the GB firmware - flashed it with ODIN - the software says successful.
But once the phone boots - it goes back into the loop - it does not know to unpack the OS to try to install and boot into it....
Any other ideas? Thanks again!
Did you flash it as a single file or 3 files?
You need to unpack the 7Zip file so you end up with 3 files:
Select PDA_UGKG3_Sbl.tar.md5 for PDA
Select CSC_BMCKG3.tar.md5 for CSC
Select PHONE_UGKG3.tar.md5 PHONE
Then flash with Odin. That should get the phone up and running again.
---------- Post added at 11:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 PM ----------
How long has she had the phone? I wonder if she was on Froyo or GB.
Can you get into the recovery menu?
Thanks for your response.
I have unpacked all three files and loaded it into ODIN as per the firmware upgrade instructions on the thread you provided me.
I have also tried loading in both both the GB and the Froyo versions (UGKG3, UGJK3). After the "successful" message on ODIN, the phone boots up - shows the Samsung Galaxy GT I9000M screen and then goes black and keeps looping again.
I have a feeling this made me a problem with the bootloader. If the phone is completely stock, which one should i try flashing?
As the phone is stock there isn't a recovery (CWM) that i know of.... Or am I incorrect?
thanks again for your help!
OK, thanks for the clarification.
There should be the stock recovery from Samsung (2e or 3e).
Yes, it does sound like a bootloader problem.
Is it still under warranty?
EDIT: What is the build date for the phone? There will be a number in YY.MM format under the battery.
See if you can get into the recovery and try to clear the cache. That may give an indication as to what is going on.
We've had the phone for a year and a few months, so no more warranty.
In fact, we brought it back to bell store and they said there is "no way" the phone can be fixed. (yea right).
So I see a bunch of bootloaders in the forum here. Are there specific ones that work for the GT i9000M on bell? Or since I've tried flashing gb on the phone, do I need to download one that is specific to the OS? sorry as I am quite a n00b at this.
thanks!
The 3 file ROMs include a boot loader.
The GB one for Bell only includes the secondary bootloader (sbl.bin).
Bell no longer sells the i9000m, so they are hoping you'll simply buy a new one.
Your GFs phone is a couple of months older than ours. I bet the phone is one of the ones that has the issue where the internal storage is known to fail (builds prior to 11.03).
If that's the case, I think Samsung may repair/replace it, since it's a known issue with the early i9000m phones.
Did the phone get updated via Kies recently?
thanks again for following up.
How do I test if the phone's internal storage failed?
No I have not tried to update the phone via KIES. How does this work and what will it do?
Thanks!
Going into recovery and clearing the cache might show it.
If you see an error message that it can't mount something, that would be an indication.
EDIT: What's the build code?
I can't get into a recovery mode because the phone doesn't have CWM nor can I get by even the Samsung screen when it first turns on.
How do you flash via KIES? All I can do is get the phone into download mode. Can't do anything more.
Thanks.
Boot loop on stock Bell GT-I9000M
I have the same issue and still trying to find a solution.
Can't get into recovery. From most of what I read it's the boot loader. But I may be wrong, I 'm very new to this. I flashed with I9000UGKG3-homebinary with no luck. I did not however try the Sbl.bin file yet. I can still get to the Download mode and don't want to loose that ability.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

although you do not have CWM you should have a stock recovery... I know you have probably already tried.. but try again.
Menu+Power+Volume up...release only the power button as soon as the initial screen disappears.
if you do get into this screen you can do full wipes...
--pm me if you live in the Toronto area
It also might be a boot loader problem depending on what version of of android you were on and what you tried to do with odin and if you had the right version with the bootloaders etc.....

As dlockhart said, you should have the stock recovery on the phone.
Since you can get into download mode, you should be able to get into recovery mode by pressing volume up+home+power button.
Flashing through Kies only works if your phone will actually boot.
Since the phone is constantly boot looping, i tried to go into the stock recovery mode multiple times with the volume up + menu + power combination. Tried releasing the power button when the words are on the screen, when it is blank, and other permutations - but i cannot get into the stock recovery.
Once i press the volume down button instead though, i can quickly jump into download mode.
Is this normal? or am i doing something completely wrong?
Is there another way to get into stock recovery mode?
Don't release the power button until you see the recovery screen.
maybe also try flashing another kernel?
Boot loop on stock Bell GT-I9000M
I have tried to get to the recovery screen also with varied timing on button presses and releases, but no luck. Vol down and power gets me to download screen every time though.
I would keep trying the volume up power and home and as soon as you see the black background with galaxy showing let go of all buttons but wait until you see it restart again. So you'll hold vol. up + power + home and your phone will restart and you'll see the galaxy words keep holding the buttons until it restarts again and when you see the words let go of all three buttons. Now if your willing to switch kernels I would go to www.darkyrom.com and follow the directions there for flashing darkyrom 10.4.2 its just as smooth as stock but its not stock and voids your waranty, but since you dont have a waranty go for it. Good luck if you need any extra help you can pm me as well. I have had my phone since Oct. 2010 and flashed atleast a hundred roms and thought i broke my phone a few times but these thing are damn near impossible to totally mess up.

Is there a minimum remaining battery-life requirement for the device to enter Recovery?
Does the 3-button Recovery require power cable to be attached or not?
For what its worth, my I9000m has a Build Date of 11.04 and came with Froyo 2.2, so unless he already updated he's definitely not on 2.3.3
Downloading Kies to your PC and updating to 2.3.3 that way, just might work. Thats what I did.
So basically I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (i896) and it was running 2.1, so I decided to try and upgrade to the newest stock available for the captivate (which is 2.3.5). I had to use heimdall because I bought the phone used and it was rooted and possibly running a custom ROM so kies is not an option. When I put the phone in download mode the computer wouldn't recognize it (I'm on a Mac). I did alot of reading online and I couldn't find a solution. So I decided to flash a new ROM hoping that this would solve the problem.
So I flashed a random ICS ROM. But with this ROM I couldn't even access download mode. I tried a 3 button fix, I tried to use terminal to boot into download mode, and I tried to use ADB from my computer; nothing worked. So I figured I would flash another ROM (this time I used Hellybean) but when I tried to install it, a bunch of code ran on the screen and it said "installation aborted". Before attempting to flash this ROM I completely wiped the phone (i formatted the system from the mounts menu in CWM) and now the phone is showing the at&t logo, then going to black, then some code runs on the screen, then it goes black and starts the whole thing again.
I cant get to recovery or download mode.
Is it bricked? How do I fix this?
I don't know what I did wrong! any help would be appreciated.
P.s. I would really like to avoid building a jig because I feel like Im not too good at that kind of stuff....but if that's what it comes to...
Thanx in advance

I've tried all of those methods except for using a jig. Is it possible that while flashing a ROM my phone somehow lost download mode?
Also if all of those combos didn't work is it likely that a jig will work?
Looks like you started reading after you messed up the phone. Update instructions say clearly that you need GB bootloaders before you proceed to ICS or JB. You provide no information what exactly ROM you started from, what GB ROM you attempted to flash (with or without bootloaders), what exactly ICS you flashed after, what "some code" runs on the screen now, etc. It's a lot of guessing here. If bootloaders are messed up, than you won't be able to fix your phone at home. I have never seen a problem you describe, so wait for someone with more experience to stop by.
I got it going! All it needed was a jig and then I was able to flash stock GB with bootloaders.
Thanks for the help.
Good news! :good:
I have a Cappy and gingerbread boot loaders come in three flavours i897, i896 and i9000 and they're backwards compatible with froyo and éclair roms. Don't mix froyo and gb boot loaders though you will hard brick your device. I have i896(Canadian) boot loaders and when I flash kk4 [email protected] Odin gingerbread my "i896" boot screen is garbled image of pixels until I flash the proper param.lfs file to match. Hope this helps. BTW I have a jig as well and for all galaxy devices it's a must.
