this is the theme i want to put on my phone (the purple one) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898892&highlight=theme+purple
i searched through the threads and found a video on youtube that is meant to help put themes on the phone:
How to ROOT your Samsung Galaxy S - SuperOneClick Method
so i followed and did everything it said.
and now im completely confused!! in another video the guy uses Darky's v10.1, so i went and searched the forums for that and found a guide for noobs. im not sure if im meant to unroot the phone and put darkys thing on or what!
i put the reccomended apps on my phone but the vodoo sound app doesnt have the options to turn off lagfixes and the backup app Nitrality keeps forcing closed.
i just want to put the theme on my phone!
someone please help me :|
Question before: why don't you use Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.4) instesd of Froyo? Ginger is much faster. Then you can put a custom ROM on it and everything will be ok.

Easy guide
I'll help you
1: first use this link:
JVP CWM Base ROM:
http://www.multiupload.com/PFPFZYNA6N
or
Rom kitchen (to cook a GingerBread version)
http://romkitchen.org/
2: Flash through ODIN
3: Link phone on PC using USB and copy theme to your 'internal SD'
4: Restart Phone in CMW (Volume UP + Power Butten + Home Button)
5: In CMW: select install from zip
6: Select theme.zip and click yes to install
7: After it say install completed go back and reboot
Theme should be installed.
Might want to note that the theme is for Froyo only so if you follow the guide to go to Gingerbread it will not be compatible, but there are heaps of cool themes for Gingerbread! The reason you couldn't put the theme on is because it requires a kernel with CWM and a deodexed rom. If you installed Hardcores Speedmod kernel through odin then installed a deodexed rom via cwm you then be able to install it, this removes your warranty though.
1) is your phone rooted?
2) giv ur kernel details.. as in go to settings>about phone> and tell us which kernel you are using
You need a deodexed rom, as stated
Insanity cm017/glitch v10c
My problem briefly :
my phone was Not rooted
i've installed (hardcore-speedmod-i9000) zImage via heimdall-frontend app.
now my phone run the download-mode (but i don't know what i can do to it) and it doesn't run into the ClockworkMod Recovery ... and doesn't run into the normal operating mode .. just the plain black Samsung Galaxy I9000 screen ....
i tried Pwr+VolDwn for 10 sec. nothing ..
can someone here help me please ...
files downloaded are from CyanogenMod wiki official website
my only problem is i found lately that i need my phone rooted ...
i'd appreciate it if someone helps me here

Hello.
I rooted my SGS+ GT-I9001 and installed ROM Manager. Now I would like to flash CWM Recovery, but if I try to install it via ROM Manager the app asks me to confirm my device. But in my list no I9001 is listed, only Samsung Galaxy S I9000. Should I choose this or take another way to get CWM on my phone?
Thanks,
wormix
no DON'T select i9000
nd btw after 2.3 update of i9000 rom manager does not install cwm on it...
So even if u select i9000 it wont be able to install cwm...
btw search xda and flash a custom kernel wid cwm (using odin)
i have galaxy s plus
and i want to root it
and change rom
how can i do it?
The instructions below are for I9000 but I guess they would work just fine.
First of all, you gotta install a base JVU ROM via Odin (instructions here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/).
After that, you can root it (instructions here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvu-firmware/).
And then, just copy the .zip file with the ROM on the phone memory and install it directly with CWM.
Cheers,
Mihai
DO NOT flash Galaxy S (I9000) Stuff on Your Galaxy S Plus (I9001)
It will **** up your phone..

If you want to flash CM9 you will need gingerbread.
There are 2 ways to upgrade, the official way and the unofficial way:
Official way: 1. Download 'Samsung kies'.
2. Plug in your ace.
3. Select upgrade.
Unofficial way: 1. Go to sammobile.com
2.Find the ace and your regions firmware.
3. Download the firmware + flashtool(Odin)
4. Load all the packages as shown in the flash guide.
5.Put the ace in download mode(power+vol down)
6. Connect ace and flash.
