I got my HD7 via UPS yesterday. It was completely brand new, but when I powered it on there was some weird flickering lines all over the screen. The intensity of it has diminished but they are still present. I can't see them on black or white colors, but I can clearly see them on every other color. I have no idea what is wrong. Anybody know what is wrong or how I can fix it?
send it back.
hd7 screen issues
if you have not foundan answer, here is a post from HTC
Thanks HTC:
Dear xxxx xxxx,
thank you for contacting me about this issue.
I have looked at the forums and seen that this is a fault found on quite a few of the handsets.
The fault is not the operating system or something that Microsoft has done. It is the graphics chip located on the main board of the device.
All that needs doing is what’s known as a resink. Basically the chip is blasted with hot air to melt the flux holding the chip in place and re-establish a proper and full connection between the chip and the board.
How ever, we will require you to call into the centre so that we can book the device in for repair.
If you have any more problems, then please do not hesitate in getting in touch with us again.
Regards
Carl

Is anyone having an idea on how to handle the following:
- Start menu is opening and closing by itself, and
- after a while the device stops to respond to any input on the touchscreen, while other functionalities seem to be OK;
- neither a soft nor a hard reset help. The screen remains 'frozen' until... again difficult to say why, it recovers and then ...all over again as above.
thanks,
Nic
I had the same problem after about 2 weeks of use. Turn off, soft-reset, hard-reset didn't help at all. Leaving the phone off for couple hours helped but the problem occurred again. Very frustrating. I have contacted the HTC support but still haven't received any responses from them. I think it's the hardware problem.
This is either a motherboard problem- it has occurred on some Trinity and Hermes devices and involves the screen controller chip; or it could be a problem with a screen protector (if fitted ) causing pressure around the edge of the screen
I had the same problem. Sent my device to HTC and they replaced the motherboard. When I got it back, I thought all is well. The drop down menu started again so I sent back to them with a nasty message. It is in repair now and hopefully they will fix it again, change the motherboard and the screen!!!
Hello Gilbert,
When you send to them, you had to pay the shipping fee?

Hi,
Oh yes. twice already and this pisses me off. When they sent the device to me the first time after claiming it was fixed, i did not have to pay for shipping costs. Let's hope they fix the bloody device soon or I am going to change brands.
Thanks,
Gilbert
I saw that problem on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYfohqde2E8
Man I really hope mine doesn't have that problem, I wonder what it is? Let us know what happens when you get it back, again.
Dam, wtf, while reading this thread my Trinity started to act exactly as described in the above posts!!! IT'S contagous! Seriously... I do have a screen protector... Hope it rights itself....
This is really terrible...

Hi there,
After having used my Trinity for 4 weeks I am experiencing same problems of erratic behavior, the start menu is activating itself and as a consequence device is slowing down gradualy up to the point where it freezes. I tried, soft/hard resets, removing battery etc. but nothing seemed to work. I have not installed the screen protector yet, so I can rule out straight away the effect of the screen protector. First I thought it could be jog dia lwheel which might be faulty, then it crosses my mind that it could be some virus. I donwloaded some applications off the internet. Before I found this thread I was considering of deleting the ROM and replacing it with another one, but it seem that the issue is more of hardware origin rather than software related. What happend after you got it from the repair? Is it working now? Cheers.
Hi to all,i've got a rectangular spot on my diamond's lcd:it's similar to "oil under sun" effect, something like a rainbow...it's almost not visible directly, but it gets very evident under direct light, but it would be nothing, the real problem is that touch response is quite inaccurate in that zone (and it takes all the middle part of the lcd).
I guess that "something" got pressed on "something else" (maybe the touch part with the screen itself),is there a way i can solve it avoiding warranty waiting?
Hi...
i got the same "oil" problem as well,
went down to HTC Service Center in SGP.
was informed that this phenomenon,
is due to "excessive pressure" on the screen...
& it is a "wear & tear" issue...
so its not cover by HTC warranty...
To rectified the problem,
means to change the LCD display, costing about S$200 .
& the problem will still come back again...
Customer Service informed that this issue will not interfere with any functions.
so i decided to live with it...
This a known and talked about problem.
I have it as well.
Check out This thread it has a few solutions, none of which I actually tried.
Good luck
I think it's an known problem, they should definitely fix it under warranty!

What does "wear & tear" mean?
I read in the linked topic that many people got the screen fixed/changed under warranty...i hope they will fix it to me too
customer service says...
its a normal user problem ( on excessive pressure )
even go to extend & show me her HTC diamond,
which was also having the same problem...
then go on to explain, HTC ( in SG ) does not warranty on this "fault"
so replacing it ( or shd say the whole LCD display ) , user will have to pay.
same thing happened to my touch cruise before the touchscreen stopped functioning, i think its from the touchscreen liquid leaking out (resistive touch screens are filled with gel/oil between 2 layers of plastic. for my cruise the inner layer burst and the gel leaked out (it couldn't really go anywhere cuz the LCD was right behind it so looked like oil under the screen.
HTC replaced it under warranty. if not try PPC techs (i hear their good) or for self repair get a full screen assembly (MAKE SURE you get the FULL assembly most ebay listings are for the digitizer and/or LCD and are missing the 3rd peice of glass that has to be glued directly to the digitizer for self repair to work)
My Diamond screen has broken(since the stupid technician tried to fasten a wrong, long, nut into the back which cracked the screen)
The problem is since i'm a NEWBIE to hardware repairs, I need help to dismantle the device(I'm not going to the tech guy)
Plus, when he opened the device, since WIFI has stopped Turing ON. From comm manager as well windows, I assume there is some hardware fault after opening the device, perhaps faulty ribbon cable connection or broken side wires(entenna?!)
Please provide help on dismanteling it, and advise on what could be wrong with WIFI.
I'm ordering this display from E _ Bay U.S.A
http://orders.ebay.in/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ImportHubViewItem&itemid=260562114698
or
http://orders.ebay.in/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ImportHubViewItem&itemid=270554369035
It seems this second one is better.
Please advise what should I buy
hmm search about microp error... i'm preaty sure same thing hapend with wifi on my diamond when i had that error. cheers
any insights on the screen?
Bulls eye!
microp error
This occurs when while boot diamond fails to find the corerct hardware radio, wifi and bluetooth
Well the small cable was not attached properly so i opened and attached it. Hell of a job, HTC are very compact.
And WIFI bluetoth back on.
Warn you this cable is very delicate and HTC's original manual says to replace this cable once you open your device. But where will you find a cable?!?!
And I have got the screen from ebay U.S.
Now while replacing the screen the tech guy stuoid NooB forgot to take off the last fblack colored film of the display and reattchaed the new one over it, so now the digitizer isnt wrking properly and the new screen appears very dark.
I have to do it my self. I dont know if i will ever have my diamond back again
This is more of a hardware issue, yet maybe there's somebody who has a clue. So, recently my dear Xperia SP has experienced some severe drops and has not taken it like a hero. Sometimes (randomly) image on the screen gets stuck and unresponsive, followed by all kinds of odd stuff (color changes, lines, stuck pixels, you name it) or it becomes blank and unresponsive, even though the phone itself works (can receive calls, music in background is still playing).
I am no longer covered by warranty, so please do not suggest bringing it to service center. I would just like to hear an opinion what might be the actual problem - screen connector, screen itself, motherboard, maybe something else? I am not looking for a free diagnostics either, just trying to understand if it is something I could fix myself at home eventually.

Based on the symptoms given, it could be the screen connector

I see. I'll try to get a hand on a screwdriver small enough to disassemble the phone. Thank you for your opinion, I appreciate.:good:
Hello Guys !
I have a big massive Problem with my Note 8 SM-N950F.
I was watching Youtube and my Phone has worked fine no Problem no Green Screen till suddendly my Screen went full Green Flickering mode and I dont know what the Reason is. I restarted the Phone and it worked again no problem for 30min then it went back to Green flickering screen.
I have try : Restore the Phone as New completly Wipe out / Result = Negative
Installed a Custom Rom / Result = Negative
I did not dropped the Phone nor does it has a Water Damage.
The Green Flickering screen only comes when Im in the System but while I am on TWRP it never shows up so I think it has something to do with the system and not Hardware.
Problem still there still need a Help

A full wipe and flashing the latest official firmware usually solves non-hardware issues. If you tried that and the issue is still there, then it sounds like a hardware issue that would need repair (hopefully within warranty).

Motherboards can be faulty, etc. It doesn't have to be caused by the user. If you flash stock with full wipe and the issue persists then the only remaining variable is hardware. Either that or maybe you didn't do the full wipe when flashing latest firmware. Not sure what else to suggest beyond those two possibilities. Hope you get it working.
I had this also on my N950F. It happened very suddenly while I was using it:-
* Greenish tint
* Reduced brightness capability
* Flickering
* ~half-inch border of more intense tinting on all four sides
Cut a long story short - couldn't fix it with a complete factory reset.
Today, the problem has suddenly disappeared and the screen is perfect after four days with this issue. Just out of the blue - screen back to normal.
I'm guessing it was either a dodgy board connection which righted itself, or a temporary light sensor issue.
it is a hardware fault relating to the lcd. this is usually seen when the phone has been dropped. and is a broken lcd. i know its stated it wasnt dropped but that is the issue

Utter nonsense. It hasn't been dropped and it doesn't have an LCD screen. Know-it-alls spoil it for others by making unfounded comments.

Yes, that's it, if not droped, then a faulty screen, just like that, many people wish that all problems can be fixed by some trick, clever app or hidden setting, but, in true, a very little number of troubles are fixed this way, so my advice would be to take the device to an authorized samsung service center

Be nice to people trying to help you.
There is two causes to this. Software or hardware. Next time it happens try screen capture. If appears on screen shot it's software buggy. Although highly unlikely but if it does usually a reboot or factory reset solves it.
Other more likely scenario is hardware. If you used a crt tv you'll know as its the same symtom of failing picture tube.
And it's definitely not connector issue.
