[Q] New Software available through LG Updater - LG Thrill 4G

So I have been messing around with the LG software updater tool and earlier today it would tell me that there is no software update available for my phone, however now its saying that there is an update and to start the updating process.. Does anyone know what this is all about?

Interesting according to LG's Website says Android OS 2.2 Upgradeable to 2.3.....http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/LG-P925.jsp Read there it says so.

I just tried the update process, after a while of downloading or installing, it finally told me this model is not compatible with the software updater.

I bet it must be for the Optimus and is giving a false availability.

Missing "Software Update" option in my LG O2X

Hi all,
My wife just bought an LG O2X and the phone is running into some restart/freeze problems so I thought I'd check to see if there are updates available to address the issues.
What I realized immediately was that there isn't an option to perform a software update from the phone. I checked with a colleague's O2X which is running the same phone version as my wife's and found out that there is indeed a "Software Update" option that can be accessed via Settings > About Phone > Software Update. This option is currently missing and I'm wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
Anyway, my software version info
Baseband Version: 1035.21_20110218
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-dirty
Build Number: FRG83G
LGE Version: LGP990-V10a

I do have the same software version with your wife O2X, but i did not have that problem. There is software update option in my o2X.
Interesting...
I want a version without this option.
Could you upload the Settings.apk from your wife's phone and attach it here?
It is in /system/app/
In return I'll have a look and if it what I suspect it is can probably get that option back for you.

The phone's not rooted so I'm not sure if I can access it. But I'll see if I can grab that .apk for you later.
It's not so important for me to get that option back but rather I wanna find out if it's something wrong with the s/w that came with the handset; and if there are others who has the same issue.

Hi djmcnz,
Here's the file you wanted.
Cheers
This is indeed weird. For me it was the brightness option which were greyed out and only get enabled after I rebooted the phone.

Thanks for this, it's quite interesting. The file you posted is from an early build (10a of course but it seems like an early revision of even that).
The one you posted is about 2MB smaller than the rather more common one floating around and contains far less translations into other languages.
You will get that option, without rooting, if you NVFlash the 10b version of the stock rom that is posted here. However, since you're stock and not rooted you can probably update via the LG Desktop tool because I think 10b is general release now. If it is not it won't be long before it is.
You probably won't get OTA update notifications (do you have a file called 'OmaDmclient.apk' in /system/app/ ?) but the desktop tool doesn't depend on these.
You're not missing much and you will get an official update for sure but you can also do it manually if you like.
Thanks for taking the time to post the file.
Sweet
Actually, I'd like to add to this and say - "sweet".
The LG update system runs on the phone at all times, it consumes about 20MB of RAM and auto-restarts if it's killed. This is the OmaDmclient.apk.
For those running a custom ROM this process is practically useless because it may notify an update is available but it won't be able to download or install it. If you are using a custom ROM you typically get notifications of updates from forums anyway.
Simply removing the OmaDmclient.apk saves the RAM but makes the Settings | About Phone menu force close. I was living with that but wanted to fix it.
Now, having taken some code from the Settings.apk posted here and inserting that into the more recent Settings.apk I can delete the OmaDmclient.apk, save 20MB of RAM and have a fully functioning Settings menu, less the update option I do not use!
20 free MB of RAM is good RAM.
I think I'll release this for others to use.
Thanks again!
Hey djmcnz,
Sorry for the late response. Great find there, I'm glad I'm not missing out much and the file was of use to you.
I just got LG to replace the mainboard for me (not to mention upgrade to the new firmware) and so far I wasn't able to reproduce the old issues I had. But I now have the greyed out brightness option. Haha. I'll plug in my SIM card later and see if that might be the issue.
Thanks for looking into this!

I am having the same problem. No software update option. v10b baseband 405 from India. Any help how can i get the option back?
Check this my own experience about Optimus 2x P990

solution: root it and install a non-stock ROM (CM7.2 or MIUI are great ones). The performance difference and visual improvement is well worth it. And if warranty claims are needed flashing back to unrooted stock is quite easy.

[Q] OTA update - but will not install "Ivalid software pack"?

Hello
Now there is an OTA update avail. when i go into "Softwareupdate". But the OTA update fails to install???
The update downloads fine. But when it will install i get an error saying "Ugyldig Softwarepakke" in Danish. This is something like "Invalid softwarepack" in english.
So an official OTA update will not install on my optimus 2x.
The version on my phone (both before and after the update) is V10a.
Please see attached images.
I am on stock firmware and on the 3.dk network in Denmark.
Does anybody else have this problem?
And are there any suggestions on how to resolve the issue?
Had the same problem ended up updating by use of computer.

As mentioned, you should try updating using LGMobile update application.
Thanks, got it to work trough my PC as suggested. However I still think that it should work over WiFi.
(Now i have v10b - but I have not yet noticed any major differences in that from v10a. So still waiting for 2.3 like everybody else)
1: I have got V10a and can not update through LG‘s mobile updater as it claims my phone is running V10b which is a lie
2: I find it very stupid that you can NOT check for OTA nor download them unless you are on wifi. That's the most stupid thing ever. My HTC would do OTA over mobile data.

1: Only solution for you is to flash the V10b firmware using nvflash. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032896
2. I agree with you.

[Q] Moto X XT1092: 5.0.2 System update getting failed.

I am not sure why it is happening with but i am not able to install 5.0.1 (12 MB) update on my Moto X 2014. I have unlocked bootloader and phone is rooted running on 5.0 Lollipop firmware.
Baseband Version:
MSM8974BP_4125.184.08.27.01R
VICTARA_EMEA_CUST
System Version
22.21.19.victara_reteu.retailuall.en.EU retin
It downloads the update file.
Reboot the device.
Goes into recovery and show me that it's installing the update. Half way on the progress bar the phone reboots.
After booting I see message which tells me that System update installation is failed. It does not give an error message or reason.
I tried installing it multiple times but same results. Any help will be appreciated.
To add Motorola Device Software updater shows me that my firmware doesn't have any available updates. Whereas i am getting regular notifications to run system update.
I attached screenshot of Motorola Device Software updater.
You should be happy, i had exact same config, and had soft brick when trying to upgrade. I believe you can't do the update if you are rooted. So you must flash stock back and then update.

My phone keeps displaying that i have pending system update. What is the right way to get the update without bricking your phone?
After your update i am not going to try any workaround methods to force upgrade. But this is something that should be well explained by Motorola or Android community somewhere on internet. I think need to wait till the time more helpful resources are available.

i think just flashing back the stock system partition using fastbot should do it. I haven't done this myself though, i needed to completely reflash stock

I am facing the exact same problem.
I am currently on 22.21.19.victara_reteu.retailuall.en.EU and the update notification I am getting is for 22.121.1
I have an unlocked bootloader but the phone is not rooted.
I do not agree that OTA update doesn't work when phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. The Android 5.0 update got installed on my phone when it was already rooted (I lost root access after the update).
Still looking for solution for "OTA installation failed" problem though...

So far My 5.0.1 update never got downloaded and i was not able to update the phone using Motorola update. Therefore i flashed Cyanogenmod 12.1 which has latest Android build. This way i stopped annoying alerts of system update on my phone.

LG L90 Android system updated this morning? Not 6.0?

Am I the only one waking up to a system update for the LG Optimus L90? I've just downloaded and started the installation process so I'm not sure what version it is but my current version is 5.0.2.
Keeping my hopes up that it's Android 6.0! I'll updated this post when I know more. :good:
Update-
Don't know why but it updated to 5.0.2 again. I was prompted to update my system this morning with a 70mb system updated and I'm not sure why it turned out to be 5.0.2 again. Anyone know the reason for this?
Its probably the stagefright patch if it is anything. I don't LG could be this fast in bringing 6.0 to us. It has only been about a month since the source was released
If I had root, and etc, Would this wipe that off? I only ask because I'm thinking about flashing to stock with a KDZ and re-updating to Lolipop and getting this update. I've got bad relations with my carrier.
:/
Yeah it would get rid of root. You should install brossovitch's modified stock ROM if you want to keep root.
Lock the doors, disable ota, immediately!

LG G4 LP to MM stock upgrade

I just bought a used phone from Amazon and it came with LP. I have tried the OTA check for updates and it says my phone is up to date. I also tried using the LG Bridge tool and it states that it cannot check the software version of my phone. I then tried using LG UP and it states that I don't have the DLL installed for H81110n which I know I don't as I was last using it for a version of MM with my old phone. Any suggestions welcome.

if you are on LP 10n then thats antirollback V2 you can update it to 20i.. if you go upto 20o thats V3 and will be stuck there.
heres the link for 20i MM and dll is used on TOT files.. LGUP only uses KDZ.

Actually the error I get from LGUP states that I don't have the proper DLL installed for H81110n. This doesn't surprise me as I was working on MM the last time I used LGUP and installed the 8994 DLL from the msi installer.
