Hello, I bought an expensive SIM-free Incredible S in Egypt a week ago, and I just noticed that 720p recording is @20fps. I also checked YouTube for examples and found that some videos @20fps and some @30fps.
Anyone with Incredible S, could you check your videos and see if you have this problem too.
I also noticed that @20fps the bitrate is ~8M and file size is too high!
and @30fps the bitrate is ~3M and file size is normal.
Here are the details of both videos, mine is the 20fps one (2.3.3 - FW 2.30.415.1).
and the 30fps is from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rOAVocSVFA
Update #1: Got a reply to HTC support ticket, they said "Kindly note that we already investigate this issue and we will contact you soon." So I'm not alone on this. To all people having this problem, Contact HTC here: http://www.htc.com/www/help/htc-incredible-s/index.page?#troubleshooting-guide So they can include a fix before (the should be coming) sense 3.0 update...

You're right...Just tested on my Inc S. A 1 min 38 sec video is 98mb in size and a 30sec one 21mb.
But the quality is not bad at all, I'm really loving this phone.

HTC incredible s is not a cheap phone, and it should record with 30fps as advertised. How come some getting 30fps and others don't!

I'm using the stock camera app, as users who are getting 30fps does.
I also tried lgCameraPro and it's recording under 20fps.
doesn't it depend on the lighting

The videos I recorded was outdoors in the afternoon, I took the same video to compare with my brother's Xperia Neo, and it recorded with 30fps 3min 50mb.
But come on, my incredible s did the same with 20fps 3min 170M!!
I also just got a reply from HTC support ticket, and they said "Kindly note that we already investigate this issue and we will contact you soon."
So I'm not alone on this, and I hope it's not a hardware problem and this can be fixed with next sense 3.0 OTA update.
i think stock ROM have this issue but when i use pyramid ROM sense3 the video quality is awesome and with 8GB in 720p i can record 1 hour and almost 30 min

That's good news, but if you can get us a details from any video recorded with your stock room too, we could know for sure if this a hardware or a software problem?
i sure this is software issue not hardware..
if u flash vu its pyramid ROM with sense3,in option in camera choose 720p and 14MB/PS u can record video with excellent quality
i found a video in my laptop i was recorded with stock ROM but not 720p its 480p with 26 fps..
i report if i found another video recorded with stock rom but 720p...
sorry for my bad english..
I'm using Sense 3.5 room, I recorded a video in 1,02 minutes and it cost 37.9 MB of disk, with 17fps. I think it's bad perfomance
Does anyone know if there's other to fix the FPS issues instead of switching ROM?

VGA And 2MP Option
• Hi guys, I have some news, WE CAN record in 640x480 on the front camera WITHOUT LAGS ! the iso is perfect, the image has a lot of fps...
To record yourself you need to go to camera (taking pictures) and it's called self-recording, my camera was in french (yeah french sucks you will say)... but I didn't knew that at all... and it's correct, hope that in official JB we'll record in 720p with it :fingers-crossed:
• Now I will explain you the problem of the rear camera in record mode :
First of all open your official samsung camera app and go to record mode switch resolution to 176x144 see what shows you your device, and don't move your hands, your body, your eyes and even your device, now switch to 320x240 see what happens, after that switch to 640x480, 720x480, 1280x720, 1920x1080 why it has a so much overzoomed view
• Now comment what you have felt of this experience
• I sent a feedback to samsung to they change these stupid settings for record mode hope these developpers will get what I have said and test it and release correct android JB
I've actually made video comparaison between 176x144 (...) to 1920x1080 on youtube but I need 10 posts to include links O___o

This is a known issue! As long as you shoot at resolutions less than or equal to 720p the full frame of the video is captured. But in case of 1080p it isn't.
yeards porabha
That's what I tried to say
I would like, if developpers can or could, to they edit these bad settings of samsung and put full view for the 1080p mode
Guys, we're on a forum of developpers, if someone is a developper and read this, could you take the zoom file in the camera apk from the 176x144 version and put this field of view in the 1080p mode, like this the camera won't OVERZOOM the image in 1080p mode

Great!!
What about increasing audio quality (also decreasing a bit the video quality -38K maybe is unnecessary high -)?
Maybe, at least at 720p, you could increase audio quality to:
bitrate: at least 125kbps
sample rate: 44kHz

To be honest I don't even bother switching to 1080p, just use 720p most of them,

Those of us that are near sighted can see the difference.
720p is roughly 900,000 pixels (1280x720) total and 1080p is a little over 2mil pixels (1920x1080) total. In essence 720p on a 1080p screen will have a blur at every pixel set. I notice it because I am near sighted.

My experience with FOCAL recording videos at 120 fps. With a resolution of 1080p is video is useless (extremely pixelated) like you said, but I got better results by reducing the resolution to 720p. The only problem is that the audio is not synchronized (sounds at the beginning of the video at normal speed).
However this is the only app that works recording videos to a fps greater than 30.

It does 240fps too in 1/8x mode. http://www.techspot.com/review/759-galaxy-note-3/page5.html
The Galaxy Note 4 does have slow motion as well as fast motion (time lapse) the difference is that the Galaxy Note 3 and 4 have slow motion at 1/2 speed, 1/4 and 1/8.

you sure? The note 3 does 720p at 240fps, it's just plays back at 15fps (not 30fps). Perhaps someone with a Note 4 can confirm.

I asked a user on reddit who has the Note 4;

The "720p" at 1/8 is at 15fps, but is also not true 720p, it's upscaled from a lower resolution.
So does this mean that no matter what....the iphone 6 still take better slow motion video than the Note 4 ?
Galaxy Note 4 Ultra Slow Motion, 4K, 16 Megapixel Camera Test
Note 4 can record 'ultra slow motion' - but then again it can't.
The '240' FPS mode is 120 FPS with a 15 FPS playback, in 720p.

Yes.
The iPhone 6 can do 1/8 speed (240fps) at 720p.
The Note 4 does 1/4 speed (120fps) at something less than 720p.
Perhaps custom camera app will do better. I am sure soon will be hacked and modded
You can always record video at 1080p regularly, and use 3rd party software to "slow it down". This makes the quality of the slo motion video recording on the Note 4 irrelevant. Yes, there is an extra step involved to get the slo mo video, but who doesn't own a computer nowadays? Shouldn't take that long to do in a 3rd party software.
30 FPS do look better than 15.
I even use 60 in FullHD, which looks better than 30 with 4K.
Slow mode looks fantastic on the iphone 6!
I don't get why our Note has issues.
Looks terrible at the crummy upscaled 720p, just atrocious!
Hopefully the Note 4 can be improved.
Looking forward to continuing to record in 4K going from the 3 to the note 4.
Once I scoop up a 4K TV plus an MHL 3.0 HDMI adapter (when they finally becomes available), it's going to be cool reviewing all my vids.
Has anyone come across a review of the Note 4's 4K 30Hz display output capability via MHL 3.0?
