Need Some Help From My XDA Family!! - LG Revolution

Ok first of all, this post has nothing at all to do with Android except for the fact that I used to be a developer for the HTC Eris and am now a themer for our LG Revolutions.
Here's how I need your help. All I need is for my fans here at XDA, to support a very good friend of mine from back home. I can't believe I never thought of asking this before but here goes the backstory.
One of my very good friends from back home, Ryan Andreas, tried out for America's Got Talent. He flew past the first round but for some reason the judges never gave him a second thought. This guy is a phenominal singer! I'm not just saying that because he is my friend. I'm saying it because I believe it. All I need you guys to do is to watch his performance (and his other home made videos if you want) and judge for yourself. If you feel he is worthy of your support, then please buy his album when it comes out! Even if you don't buy his album, then please at least stop by his website and give him some words of encouragement. Here's the video, thanks guys!

Quick question. I used to be over at the eris forums myself and I was wondering what ROM was it that you were working on. I miss that little eris that could.

I had a Froyo build and a Gingerbread build but they didn't get much recognition since Tazz and Shed came out with their builds way before mine. My Froyo build was called FroHicks and my GB build was called TastyBread.

That's so crazy! He was actually one of my favorites! I couldn't believe it when he didn't make it through!

Yeah we were too, I was in the audience rooting him on for his first performance and so mad when he told us they wasn't sending him through to the next round. So I figured I would try to do my best to get his name out there. He should be coming out with a cd pretty soon hopefully!
And I know exactly how you feel, I love Americas Got Talent!

No MDPI love?

im a big fan of xda tv, esp Sam and Azrienoch's shows, and i am currently on an EVO 4G but, the hero over the past few weeks has had some what of a renaissance also i know the MT3G, along with the slide have also had some big developments recently too such as sense 2.3.3 ports which is an even crazier feat than it getting ported to newer devices given the hardware constraints. MDPI phones are still alive and kicking i just never hear about them on the shows. other than that you guys keep me in stitches.
i feel like i will get flamed for this thread but that's just my 2 cents about it
I loved the first Gen MyTouch. Frigging indestructible. Don't follow the forum because my MyTouch wont turn on--think I bricked it. Sam covers high traffic forums, and I for the most part cover portal stories. If there's something outside of those sources you'd like to see on XDATV, just let us or a portal writer know, like you're doing here. Anything in specific you'd like to see about it?

so i have seen some stuff on the portal recently things like the honeycomb hero port and the 2.3.3 sense port to the hero (i was the one who ported the port to it and im not asking for coverage or even a plug) which was then taken over by nfinitefx who did a fresh port from scratch.
but this guy SebastianFM was the first to port a wildfire S ROM to the MT3G which i then ported to the HeroC, that same Rom was also ported to the GSM hero. Also a user in the MT3G slide forum ported a cha-cha rom.
The G1, and the HeroC both have SDK honeycomb ports also which are slow but proof's of concept.
sorry if i came off like a **** in my first post i meant no disrespect just the hero holds that special place in my heart much like your mt3g does to you

Choices!

Does anyone have any idea how development is coming on any NEW roms? Not that im not grateful to the guys that have brought us the two available now, however id like to try something different. None of the currently available roms or themes for that matter really satisfy what im looking for.

Exactly what I was about to ask him. Revolt 1.5 goes above and beyond. My 2 themes (more are coming) look pretty damn good in my opinion. What else does this guy want? Does he think this is the D1 or something?
I have learned to very patient (did I spell that right?) with the development of programs for this phone. I wish it was more popular, but I think given time LG can outshine Samsung. I know they are testing Gingerbread on the REVs, so it shouldn't be too long. It also depends on how friendly LG is with giving developers information. I know its a task beyond that considering LG programming is all over the place, there are files that aren't used, and files placed in weird areas. I would almost expect to see something groovy with in the next month or two. On the other hand, the current Roms for this phone are stellar, and I am very thankful for those who have developed these, and those to come. I was hoping I could get into it, but my work has been very demanding as of late, like wise my family... how dare they want to spend time with me.. damn kids.. damn wife. Keep up the great work boys and girls, and to the others, just wait... the revolution of your dreams is coming.

I regret to inform you that LG will never outshine Samsung when it comes to phones. Sorry.
I do agree that with times, things get better.
I agree, an miui theme would be awesome. And with all due respect, i do appreciate the effort however the themes i have seen on this forum at least look pretty amateur. Again, like i said, i do appreciate the effort but they just dont do it for me. Take offense if u wish, im sure u will, but beauty is subjective, and if u want no criticism, dont put ur work out to be judged.

I'm sorry I haven't done good enough for you, and made it pretty enough for you. Next time before I release anything I will contact you for your approval. You are more than welcome to contact me through pm and I can teach you what I know so that you can begin putting out something more "professional" for us all to enjoy. I still don't know what you would like to see implemented into the rom.
I was ok with it all, as more would be better, until that last smart alec comment you made. If you don't like it, that is fine, don't flash it. It may not be for everybody, sorry if you don't like.

Actually I'm not offended by your stupidity at all. Look guy, I've made 2 themes for this phone. Iconic HD was my very first theme EVER. I've never made a theme before Iconic HD. Maybe that's why they look a little amateur. However, I'm pretty damn satisfied with both of my themes and I'm sorry you're not. So how about I just stop making themes all together and let you be happy with your ugly LG theme. I can accept criticism, but what you are giving is not criticism. Do you even know what that is? Criticism is saying you don't like something, but giving a solution or suggestion to correct what you don't like. All you're doing is complaining like a woman on her rag and giving no suggestions on what to fix or how to fix it. An old saying goes "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." You my friend unfortunately are part of the problem. So here's what I'm going to do for you. I'm about to start making 2 more themes tomorrow. After those are done, I will post everything I know about themes and you can try to make one yourself. Keep in mind that I've only owned this phone for 3 weeks and have already pushed out 2 themes, with 2 more coming.
Now to be an a**hole. Do not EVER act like you know me or act like you know how I'm going to react to something. I NEVER said, or acted, like I didn't want criticism. In both posts for my themes, I ask people to say something if they don't like something, or if I missed something. Your post only shows your ignorance and shows how self centered you are. NO ONE is going to make a theme specifically for YOU. It's about making something that EVERYONE likes. If you are the only person out of 100 that doesn't like my theme, then there's no way in hell I'm going to change it just for YOU. You obviously know nothing about developing or about themeing or you would just say "Hey I don't like anything this guy has put out, so I'm going to to make something myself." As mtmichaelson said, if you don't like it, DON'T FLASH IT!
It's really hard to keep my cool but I'm trying my best here. Suggest something you want to see, or do it yourself. Until then, keep your noob mouth shut and stop showing everyone how much of a self centered idiot you are.
Now I'm going to stop bashing you because I'm probably going to get banned for this post anyway. If I do, then hopefully I can come back eventually and finish these 2 themes. If I don't get banned then they will be out very soon (like tomorrow). Maybe you can come up with something by then.
Sorry to the mods about this post. I apologize for my actions but I am still going to post this due to being sick and tired of ungrateful people that only want to complain about something and not offer any help on the subject.
I like the screen shots of the themes that were made. Some people are just ungrateful little punks that like to make waves. To the development of the LG roms and themes for this phone keep it up. I was looking at rooting but I can't figure out the downgrade part of it. Seems that my computer is not compatible to do it for some reason.
Keep up the work on these phones. I for one love this phone and like to see the development of it get better and better. Hope to see one day a one click root like there was for the Eris and be able to root V6 or Gingerbread when it drops.

Expression of ones opinion does not make one a troll. If someone does not like something you do c'est la vie. Move on. He also makes a valid point. If you do not want feed back or criticism on your work, do not release it to the public. You cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time. While his statement lacked a little tact it does make a point. Beauty is subjective. You have to take 2 things into account... 1. It is the internet... 2. It is the internet...

What do you believe to be a good reason to get a tattoo?

I was arguing this with my professor. I cannot find a good reason to get a tattoo! I did jokingly say you could get one to cover up an embarrassing tatto lol. What do you guys think?

A good reason? Okay. An evil villain has taken over the world and is destroying everything and killing everyone. An old tattooist does tattoos that give the person super powers. You get the tattoo and save humanity. Plus the tattoo is sick and you get tons of b***hes.

That was a really cr4p reason until the final sentence
Military pride is a legit reason. To this day, if I see an older man with a wrinkly Military based tattoo, he gets much respect.
Good reason? You're really drunk on a Saturday night, and it seems like a really good idea at the time.

I designed and drew all of mine. Full sleeve on one arm and randoms on the other. I thought it would be the best way to show my work.
Good thing too, because all the original drawings were destroyed in a fire a few years ago. I'm glad I went through with getting them tattooed.

That's behind every tat on me. It's gotta mean something and you've got to believe it will always mean something,
Good and bad are not quantifiable things. You can't measure goodness. There is no such thing as a "good" reason. There are only reasons. So anybody who has a reason has a "good" reason. It's not done for you to agree with it.
I don't see a good reason. When I see people with tattoos, I don't think of them in a good way. It just looks stupid. That's just me though.

My humble opinion...
There's no real answer. My first tattoo was a giant 8-bit pixelated Mega Man on my leg. I got it because when I was a kid, my pops lost his business in Boston and we were stuck moving down to Florida where my grandparents lived. We moved into their 2-bedroom "manufactured" home in the middle of a retirement community. My folks saw that my brother and I had no kids in the neighborhood to play with, so they got us an NES and a copy of Mega Man 2 for Christmas that year. I played that game for months on end, well past the point where my parents were obviously annoyed with the music in the game. For that first few months until my family got back on its collective feet, Mega Man was my best friend. Fast forward almost 20 years later, I decided I wanted to get a tattoo, and the Blue Bomber was my choice. I was actually a little afraid that when I went back to visit my mom, she was going to freak out about me getting inked. But instead, she immediately recognized it and even thought it was a great tattoo to get.
The moral of this story? The only reason that matters is the one you rationalize yourself. To most people, a Mega Man tattoo is a silly and nerdy thing to do. To me, it's a silly and nerdy thing to do that reminds me of how much my parents cared about my happiness as a child, no matter what. I'm happy with it, and I couldn't care less if the rest of the world doesn't see or know the reason for it. Every tattoo I have means something to me, and I'm the only one who needs to know it.
I personally cannot think of a reason I'd get one. Other than the military pride that was mentioned because of the whole brotherhood the army gives you. I just don't see myself getting one, but I've heard quite a good amount of reasons for others.

I think there is no good reason simply because it's hard to remove a tattoo if you don't like this tattoo any more.

Twenty years on and i hate my tattoos now. Given the choice i would still have tattoos in the same places, but they would be different tattoos. Therein lies the problem though. Your tastes change from year to year as you yourself change, but tattoos are permanent.
I agree with Card83 and a few others that have said, it's should mean something to you, not just something that is cool at the time like a barb wire arm band because you will come to hate it.
From my Elegancia powered Sensation
Well ive always said i would only have my kids names on me.
And when my son was born I had his name tattooed onto my chest. And if i have any more kids then i will be putting there names on my chest aswell.
But apart from that i will not be having any other tattoo on me as anything else wont mean anything to me apart from "looking nice"
A friend of mine got the name of his best friend tattooed inside his wrist when said best friend took his own life two years ago. As a way to remember, and a reminder. They were very close.
And there are always more practical reasons for tattoos. You just don't always consider them. There are a lot of soldiers who get their data tattooed on various bodyparts, just in case. IED's really don't care if you want to keep you bodyparts attached, and thus the tattoos makes IDing easier.
Personally I don't have any. I'm not on good terms with needles.

Personally Ive been here since 2004-05. And basically since its started when it was hard to read the texts on my razor and this was basically Htc only.

Bro please stop that before you get banned! youre affecting the course of this thread. Im investigating abut how old is this thread and how long its been effective on the people. I think a great part that since 2003i the % of people buying smartphones has grown from a 20% to 90% has to in great part to forums like this. specially this one. people started to know about hacks and how they affect they to bennefit the costumer rather that the company.
Xda has been the pioneer when people started to know about roots and other methods of hacking the os of their devices. making them better. and having features locked by carriers. Xda has been there to keep this idea forward. and I want people to start talking about xda's evolution. and the we could take this info and make it a news letter for people to continue the tradition which we started years ago!

I for one part started to love this place when I had my Razor. I started to know about firmwares and hack. and every time I searched the web I ended here. there werent the hacks I needed then. That led me to my first account. but it was good to know this was there. and to read about people doing amazing stuff.
This led me to buy my first pocketpc-smartphone. a Treo 750 which I bought from second use and I still have it running a custom wm 6.5 rom with titanium.
Then I bought an Lg incite (wm) which kept me here but most of my time on lg-incite.com
the site grew and my fasination for htc too. not to be surpriced as most of the hacks where make for this devices.... check the history of the first diamond with manila. ( what we call now Sense)
So it led me to buy a Diamond 2
this was another revolution. I was a moderator on the htc-pure forums. but kept my profile here. and was as always morw and more in love with this site as I continued to know that the hacks came from here.
Now on the Dhd I had a bittersweet relation. many forum memebers dont like to keep tradition. But this continues to grow fast. Proof of this is the compact view.
We shall continue making history!

Since there will be a lot of new faces in the N5 section, and of course a lot of love and hate affairs will be taking place in the next year I find that when we put a face to a name there seems to be more friendly communication. I have done this in another device section on XDA and it turned out to be really successful and extremely fun as well.
If you guys are interested and the admin are okay with it then let's get it started and start posting up some pics of yourself, family etc.
If everyone prefers to be incognito here then we can just close this thread.....
I am 37, married with one kid and live in the US, North Carolina. Grew up in NY though.
My smart phone journey started years back with a Windows Pocket PC phone PPC-6600 if anyone remembers that. Started out at Sprintusers.com and then moved to PPCGEEKS.com for all my needs. I used to be scared of XDA. It was the place where the big boys hung out. Man, it was intimidating. Then I slowly built up the courage to check out XDA for myself and slowly worked my way in here.
Now we have so many different levels of users and while some might think that is a bad thing I think it's great. We all have to start somewhere and seeing people transition from noobs with not a clue to the ones helping others and some guys even taking on development themselves, it is a great community we have here!
Well you can see me in my avatar. I'm a mom of 3, love technology and looking forward to coming home after work on Tuesday to my brand new Nexus 5 to replace my S2.

Yo! This is a really good idea-- have never seen it before.
Anyway-- 20 year-old, in college, studying CS. Can't wait to get my Nexus tomorrow. Previously owned, HD2, One, i9300, Nexus 4 among others.
Will post a pic when I use my desktop-- none in my lappy.
Cheers dude!
Edit: Strong selfie in Frankfurt last summer

Hey guys! Here's a photo of me and my boy, and my grandpa photo bombing us like a boss.
Taken this summer on my son's first trip to Disney World. We were waiting in line for the Toy Story ride.

Nice, was that the one in Florida? Were taking our son there for the first time in December.
hell yeah, why not? That's me, the pic was taken at ocean front in Barcelona, but I live in Switzerland.
I'm looking forward to my first Nexus (after a Galaxy Note 2), to quicker access to the latest Android goodies, and to not have to remove unnecessary bloatware.
You can see me from my avatar and came from a Xperia Z1 and loving this phone so far.

Yeah that was in Florida. December is a great time to go! The weather is awesome there during that time of the year, plus all the parks get a Christmas makeover.
I don't know how old your boy is, but mines two and there was plenty of stuff for him to do. He had a blast, he still talks about it to this day.
You guys are going to have a good time!

Once you go Nexus, you never go back.
The great thing about owning a Nexus you won't care about what the other guys are doing you will just care about the next Nexus.

It's hard for a kid to not enjoy Disney World. As a parent, I got a lot of joy out of seeing my boy's reaction and excitement to everything.

Coming from am N4 I am mostly looking forward to the 5" 1080p screen. A 4.7" screen is nice if there weren't soft keys on the screen so a 5" should be just the right amount of real estate with the soft keys.
I know you can remove them and use other options but I like my keys usable without any other actions.

Yeah, the reason I wanted to have this thread here is for everyone to see the wide range of people there are on XDA from teenage kids to parents to grandparents.
It will also help when communicating in the other threads as you might think twice on how you react to people when they ask certain things. They are not just a punk teen hiding behind a nickname...They are an old guy, acting like a punk teen hiding behind a nickname. Lol

Good stuff bro. It is easy to get sucked into that life. Glad to hear things are good now. It's much harder to get out then to get in. Stay strong! Cool Android tat. Amazing how phones bring so many different types of people together.
