[Q] GT-I900 stuck at boot - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello people!
I have a problem with my Phone.. When I turn it on, i get that standard screen that says " Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung " And then it starts to vibrate 3 short times and then 1 longer time... And it keeps looping! I already got in the 3 button menu and tried everything but nothing works! (I can still enter the download menu) Can I fix this without reflashing?
Thanks!
Greetz

No chance, reflash a clean version with Odin or Heimdall

Ok ! im now studying the tutorial of odin how to flash, so i think that it will work !
Bought my phone in Portugal so I9000XXJPO Firmware and a 803.PIT file would be ok right ?
Thanks by the way for the quick repsonding!

Update: I flashed my phone with this firmware and bitfile with Odin, it worked fine it said pass at the end... Now the phone rebooted and I got the start up screen and in the end the Glowing S, but now I have a black screen and vibrates irregulary, Does somebody knows if something went wrong ? Shall I reflash it?

Did you check the 're-partition' box when doing your flash ?
jc

If he chose pit "re-partition" was propably enabled
Wysłano z GT-I9000 z użyciem Tapatalk

Yes but sometimes whilst using Odin V1.3 when choosing pit it doesn't always tick itself automatically, thats why they usually tell you to check.
@VivaLaPascal, you should have taken it back to the carrier, as it sounds like this was an problem you did not cause, but nevermind now. Yes reflash the firmware and make sure re-partition is checked. If that doesn't work tell us what happened
BTW how sure are you of your firmware, because that is froyo firmware, did you not update to gingerbread through Kies or anything?

I already found the error, I had used the wrong Pit file . I went to samfirmware and it said that with I9000 XWJS5 I had to use a 803 pitfile. So I did it, in the end it was a 512 XD

The phone was already illegally maked sim lock free/and rooted so I thought I could not bring it back .. The error occured after changing font by some crazy ass 5 * rated app named Jrummy's root toolbox XD I will never use it again! But everything is solved now, thanks for the help anyway!

[Q] Help with phone stuck on Froyo 2.2

Hey guys.
Ok so what happened was that I updated to Froyo and it worked perfectly, had it rooted and installed lag fix. Couple of days later it would boot, go past the samsung logo but then nothing. I would be staring at a black screen and when i press the middle button the two buttons on the side would light up. Now i am not able to go into recovery mode but I can go into download mode. Now I have tried flashing the phone. I tried going stock, stock for other countries and also reflashing froyo 2.2. The most successful is froyo because once I have reflashed and reboot for the first time, it goes into recovery mode telling me it is having problem with a couple of things, one of them being the internal sd card, which is fixed by me doing a sd wipe but the next one is a data error, i think it was called dadata but i am not sure, have to double check. Now i cant get that error to go away even by doing a factory rest and once i reboot the phone, it goes back to the state i mentioned before. Plz can any one help?

Follow this guide.
If you still get error try finding a rom from samfirmware that has pda modem and csc then flash them with odin3 v1.70.
Sounds like you have a bad internal sd. You may have to take it back for warranty

ya so it says that it has some problem with dbdata and that it cant mount internal sd card. Am I screwed?

Ok i have just managed to solve a similar problem on my phone..
donwload the file from this link (it's from samfirmware)
add in all
code file into pda, modem file into modem and csc into csc
and add in the 803 pit make sure repartition is checked.
If that doesn't won't i can't help no more..
Any success?
No my friend, no luck. Thanks for the help though. Any one else have any other suggestions?
I have the same problem with my other i9000m. No amount of flashing with odin with whatever firmware helped. I took it into a local 3rd party repair shop. They have fixed 10+ corrupt sd card phones. They said they needed to keep it for one day which tells me its not just a simple flash job. Maybe they have some sort of jtag setup that allows them to reformat the flash chip or something.
Or maybe they are actually removing the chip off the mainboard and reformating it. Whatever it is they are doing, its worth the $70 to get my phone working again. There is definately a fix out there though. And at $70, it's just for labour. They're definately not replacing parts.

Have one last try with the jf3 firmware with the 512 pit.. again in odin v3 1.7 code in pda..modem in modem and csc in csc there are two not sure which is better i tried oxa..
JF3 Link
If that doesn't work then yer i guess your only option is take it into a shop.. or send it back to samsung to see if they will fix it for you.

[Q] will not boot samsung galaxy s gt I9000

Hi all. (pardon my english)
I've been looking through this forum for a few hours now and I think I couldnt find a solution to my problem. My phone wont boot. In order to make this easy for you guys to diagnose. Ill brief as much as I could remember of what I did to my phone
I followed this instruction on how install froyo from this link androidadvices dot com/update-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-to-froyo-xxjpy-2-2-1/
I have a samsung galaxy s I9000. As I recall before I did any modification it was on eclair AND yesterday I installed one click lag fix which I downloaded from the android market which meant i've rooted my phone.
TODAY, I tried installing voodoo (for the lag fix) and from the link above it states that I need to have my phone to run firmware XXJPY. I installed ODIN and when asked for a PIT file I've entered the one from the downloaded .zip file (which is the wrong file I think!?), still it says "pass!" and after that I couldn't boot
Oh one more thing. What happens if I fully bricked my phone? If send it to the seller, what will the seller do?
I've tried the 3 combo, 2 combo and 2 combo button with usb cable but still wont work. Can anyone help pleaseeeee.......
Looks like you have lagfixed your phone .
I installed one click lag fix
You then failed to remove the lagfix before flashing your phone breaking phone .
Try via Odin reflash with pit 512 and repartition checked .
That fails do the same but use 2.1 Eclair
You cannot have two lagfixes One Click Lag Fix and Voodoo lagfix .
Oh one more thing. What happens if I fully bricked my phone? If send it to the seller, what will the seller do?
REJECT it broken warranty if they can prove unauthorized modifications but that does depend upon the symptoms it shows a dead phone may just get a correct flash from service centre .

correct me if i'm wrong but based on what i read i don't think he did any unauthorized modification. just tried to go from eclair to froyo.
ok here's an update, I managed boot it to download again and installed the proper 512.pit. Odin says "pass". On tutorial link I given it says
"So, now once you see the above screen with a Green box showing PASS! in the Odin then it means that your device has been successfully installed with the new firmware XXJPY 2.2.1 stock and is now safe for you to remove the USB cable from your phone and now you need to boot your device. Now after successful installation of the new firmware its now time to optimize your device with new firmware so that your phone becomes faster and zippier. First turn off your device, long press the volume up key, press Menu as holding both the buttons press the power button to start."
the difference with my phone is that its switched off instantly after downloading (right after it says "pass!"). When I press volume up + menu + start, it wont start Hope this could do some help.....
correct me if i'm wrong but based on what i read i don't think he did any unauthorized modification. just tried to go from eclair to froyo
Not through any Samsung channels .
As i said looks like you installed a rom with a lagfix enabled and that has broke your update .
Now after successful installation of the new firmware its now time to optimize your device with new firmware so that your phone becomes faster and zippier. First turn off your device, long press the volume up key, press Menu as holding both the buttons press the power button to start.
Dont know where thats coming from at all its nonsense in respect of rebooting an updated phone .
Update via Odin installs pass then phone should reboot if not take out battery for a while then press on button wait until boots .
The forum is littered with the correct instructions but its the lagfix that breaks an update lagfix off before update .
As i said flash to Eclair with repartition and 512 pit should fix the problem .
jje
It might pay you to go back to the forum you got these instructions from .
Or as i said download and flash according to XDA

btw, thanks for the help!
nvm! solved!

Flash it with Eclair XXJM1 with 512pit. Remember the three boxes must be checked. i.e. Re-partition,Auto Reboot & Force Reset Time.
Then Flash with Froyo 2.2.1 (XXJPY) and this time No Pit & No Auto partition.
It will hardly take 15mins for both.
You're done!
I has problem D:

thanks nick
Hey bud, if you think of the galaxy s as a computer for a sec....you have the BIOS right? It sounds to me that your galaxy s "BIOS" is corrupt. Are you sure your flashing firmware correctly? Pit, PDA, modem/phone, csc, also make sure repartition is ticked too, go back to Froyo XXI9000JPU and let me know if you need help OK?

The best thing I can advise you to do then bud is send it off to Samsung, and blame it on kies, that's what I did and they fixed mine for free under warranty, sorry I couldn't be more help bud
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Before you do that try a Darky Odin rom. Some stock roms do not have all the right files (as you do not need them I think with kies and if not re partitioning). Worth a shot. Let us know the results.
also may want to try a wipe and format of the cache and data and db_data partitions from recovery (can you get to recovery?)
Usually you are not hard bricked if you can get to download mode. You may still have a screwed phone with a hardware failure (but not one like any I've seen described) but you're not bricked.
Edit: working on another thread here with a similar situation. Try another version of Odin (like EZ odin) I know I had one that just would not work.

How did you fix problem?
Do you need to check repartition and use PIT file to get back gingerbread bootlouders ?
Odin froze for me 2 days ago for the first time, had no choice but to pull battery, scared as thought phone would get bricked if bootloader was half done. It wouldn't work, but the jig got it into download mode and I could flash, meaning bootloader was OK, phew

[Q] Flashing keeps failing, Out of idea's.

Hello Guys,
I'm quite an intensive flasher and never had a problem ever, running lovely ICS at the moment and my phone is fine. But here's the problem, a friend of mine also has a SGS and hers suddenly got stuck in a bootloop today (she had stock on it, never did anything to it and had no flashing history or something). So I said, let me try to fix, I should be able to reflash the software and it should be working again. Sadly enough, it didn't go as I hoped.
I flashed JVU trough Odin with Pit file.
(Sadly enough I am not allowed to post pictures, goo.gl/28pPX < pic link)
And as you can see, No problems there. Everything went fine. So the phone boots, and then this happens:
goo.gl/D0vnU
This happens everytime, no matter what i try to flash. First time I have ever seen this and I just don't know what do with it..
When I try to reboot the phone it just starts bootlooping again. I'm clueless, so can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks in advance!
Stoux
I would just flash the same jvu but with bootloaders
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Try to flash this rom is one of the best Gingerbread roms, just follow all the instructions there.
good luck
You say : flashed jvu through odin...did you have 3 files(phone , modem ,cscand odin pit file) and have repartition checkbox ticked in odin?? and can you get phone into download mode???

You just have to find a small file called " dbdata.rfs " amd flash it through odin (in pda ) .
Or you can always download a full firmware which have four files .pit, csc, modem, code and flash them with odin and u will be good to go!
Sorry for the late reaction (and the bump of the thread).
I did flash trough odin, like 9001 times. Everytime I would just get into a bootloop, Stock or Custom Rom. I was able to get in CWM but that was just a mess. It had to do with a faulty SD-Card or something, its @ Samsung now. Anyways, thanks for the help everbody!
