Charging problems? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Forum. I am about to replace the old ****ty blade with an nice cheap little X8, I got it for 5 euros from a friend, the problem is that i can't charge it.
It doesn't show any sign of life. The facts are,
That its about a year old.
*It doesn't have the original battery anymore.
*It has NEVER BEEN MODDED OR FLASHED. So it could not be an brick If I'm right.
*I got an original charger but not usb cable. i use the one that came with my Desire.
I would adore help with this one. since Xda-Member#Racht
made awesome roms for it.

Video.
I made a short Video on it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOwYWZwtrPY

FIXED.
I got it fixed by booting into the Recovery (which i managed for some funny reason) and Flash the stock system. Thanks for the help anyways.

The mini-usb port is dead on my TILT/Kaiser

Hello friends!
I'm in a little bit of a pickle here...and could use some advice.
The mini-usb port on my Kaiser/Tilt is dead, and while I was flashing SPLs and ROMs and what not, I don't think that this is what caused it to die - but who knows, maybe it did.
At the current moment I have HardSPL - 3.29 along with the offical *updated* ROM from HTC's website: RUU_Kaiser_CINGULAR_WWE_1.62.502.0_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.14.09R2_Ship.
What I would like to do is send the device back and get a shiny new one, but I'm slightly concerned that ATT or HTC will discover that I've messed with the SPL and take some action against me...I'm thinking that the worst that could happen is that they would try to charge me the full price for a replacement device.
What do you guys think? Try to invoke warranty replacement with modded SPL and stock Rom? Or no? What's the worst that could happen do you think?
Additional Details about my situation:
1. I have two batteries and a charger, so this isn't death for me. I could use the charger to power up a spare battery and swap back and forth.
2. I have Bluetooth on my PC and can do a PC sync through Bluetooth, or ICS through Bluetooth.
3. Everything else works fine.
4. I'm able to flash via SD Card, so I could still mess with ROMs if I wanted (as long as they work with SPL-v3.29)
5. When this died I was trying to go from SPL 3.29 to 3.56 using jumpSPL1.93
6. I'm eligible for an upgrade in January.
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated...
Are you eligible for, or do you phone insurance??? If the tilt was accidentally smashed I think you would get either a new one or a refurbished one for only the cost of the deductible. (My deductible is $75)
Not that I’m telling you to go bounce it off the pavement like your spiking a football or run it over with your car…. That would be unethical. But I’m not sure the mini-USB port not working will qualify to collect on the insurance.
I bought a refurb tilt off the ATT site for $150 with a 2-year extension on my contract. I’d buy another refurb in a heartbeat!!! Can’t tell the difference between it and a new one at all. Well… except for the fact that my credit card didn’t catch on fire when I bought it.

I feel a bit better now. I may or may not do anything, it's still pretty usuable so I'll ride it out for a while. If all else fails I'll pick up a refurb. Thanks man.

I'd just keep it as well...Jan is only 6mos away and you have a backup battery.
Have you reviewed the "mini usb" pin thread yet?
I had the same problem. When it happened, my phone wouldn't get power through the usb port. What I did was make sure the battery was drained, then took it in and complained about it being dead and not charging. They replaced it without question.
Yea, check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362679
I had mine replaced by ATT. Don't say there's anything physically wrong with the phone. Just say it won't charge.
i had a similar problem. USB pins were all messed up. I brought it in, they tried to plug a USB in, saw that they couldn't and the pins were crooked, and they went right back and got me a refurb, in great condition. they never turned on my phone. that was that.
this was july 12, and i have NOT flashed since. I have stuck only to ROMs.
I am waiting till after the new WM6.1 ROM to flash it at again.
but i am getting less patient.
important to be patient and polity when in the warranty center.

[Q] help me decide plz!

hi guys i seriously need your opinions. so i thought i bricked my phone last weeks. the phone doesnt turn on and there is no battery charging indicator when plug in the wall while off. so i made a jigg, it worked but some how i got d/c from computer while trying to flash stock. then the phone was completely dead. so i called in ATT and asked for replacement, and now i got the replacement and charged my old battery with this refurbished phone. then i decided to plug it into my old "bricked" phone. i tried jigg again and it worked this time! so i flashed stock and everything works fine now.
Question is, so now i have two captivates, which one should i keep? my "bricked" captivate is 1007 model with no working gps but its NEW. the refurbished is also 1007 but with AMAZING GPS. other than the micro usb door is kinda loose, the refurbished phone looks fine.
any opinions?
You know your original phone, you can fix the gps. You have no idea what had happened to that refurb

how do you fix the gps?? this is one of the reason i want to keep the refurb. if i could fix my old phone, i would definitely keep my old phone
Have you flashed roms. Most roms have good gps
IMO keep the new one. refurbished = ?
If you went through warranty chances are it is a refurb. Like someone else will get your phone eventually
so if i decided to keep my old phone, how do i tell the warranty center?

[Q] HTC One eats charger cables

Hey everyone
So, I have a bit of a problem... My HTC One keeps destroying every charger cable I'm using, sooner or later. I've tried about 5 or 6 different chargers, including 3 original chargers, and as you might understand this is getting pretty expensive (especially as original chargers are priced around 20.- in Switzerland).
I'm gonna spare you the details, but there are a few things that might be interesting to anyone who wants to help.
The progress is always the same: First, the phone is charging only when sth. is weighing the connector down (this is something many of my HTC One-owning friends are complaining about, too). Next, the phone will charge only when the cable is bent behind the back of the phone. This will work for some time, until the phone refuses to charge when plugged into the wall and can only be charged by trickle charging it from a USB port (which is what I'm currently doing). Here, the cycle is repeated, only that this time the cable dies entirely.
Curiously enough, this happens with every charger and, as it seems, the deterioration quickens with each new cable.
Also, what usually happens pretty quickly is that the connector doesn't lock into place anymore. I have cleaned the port multiple times following instructions from Youtube videos, but to no avail.
Since my phone is rooted, I unfortunately can't just go to my provider and ask them for a new phone. They'll probably blame it on the software or whatever... Also, I recently dropped my phone and it left a few scratches on the top, which would void my warranty even if the rooting wouldn't already have done so. Just my luck, I suppose...
Hopefully anybody has a similar problem or a suggestion. Lemme know if you do!

Use this Guide to return to Stock and do a warranty replacement
It looks like you have 2 problems. The first one is the microusb port has been damaged. This has happened to me on another phone and it would explain why the wire is sliding out. For this reason, you might consider replacing it under warranty. The second problem seems to be tension in the charging wire. I do not know how you have charging setup, but I am guessing that the outlet is far away and you are stretching the cable to make it to the phone. This could cause the wire to have discontinuity (why you have to bend it to short the discontinuity and resume charging) and the microusb port to get damaged. I would recommend getting a longer wire if this is the case.

ok, where did you buy if from ?
I bought it at Microspot and they replaced it twice...
Both times, I was S OFF, LOCKED Bootloader and stock recovery using a RUU...
The second time I even had a "bülä/näggi" on my phone... they replaced it on warranty...
I had the purple tint camera issue D:
Re: HTC One eats charger cables
Thanks for your response
I bought it at the Orange store in Winti, but if you get any helpful advice or in this case even a new device always depends on the clerk...
Also, I'm kinda worried how they would react to the fact that I noticed the issue already months ago.
Anyway. I'll wait until my current cable breaks down, too. Perhaps in the meantime somebody else has an idea

ok... first, you are not allowed to tell them that you noticed this issue months ago..

they won't notice it but you need some good argument's that this issue isn't caused by software... first go back 100% stock using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
and then test if your phone still eats these cables..., return it to the shop...
use these arguments to convince them if they don't wanna replace it:
I hope you can do something with these informations and if they want to charge you - or even to be prepared - I have a few examples how you can convince HTC that this issue is not caused by you and that this is covered by warranty.

UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER DOESN'T VOID THE WARRANTY FOR HARDWARE SUCH AS THE POWERBUTTON!!! I think it's point 7 in the warranty statement where they wrote that the fault has to be CAUSED by this particular ---- whatever is listed below.

Someone had an issue with a sunk powerbutton, like me:

Now, send them an email and tell them that in the warranty is written:
ONLY if it's CAUSED by external action, warranty is void for ONLY the part that got influenced by this cause! And also tell them that it is ridiculous and that they can't be serious saying that a few scratches and a unlocked bootloader caused a sunk power button! Tell them that this is against every human logic! Tell them that you have the right to use this warranty because the powerbutton sunk under normal usage! And this is definitly a production problem and not your fault! Describe them that you use your phone the way it has to be used!
But remember, be friendly and try to comunicate.. otherwise they won't deal.

Try to give them your perspective.. how you experienced the sunk powerbutton. I said that from time to time it sunk deeper and deeper. And because I was afraid of destroying something I even pressed it softer and so on.. But once the point was reached that this ESSENTIAL part of the HTC One was unusable, so I felt forced to send it in on warranty because this is definitly a hardware fault and not a user fault! Try to give them your perspective!
This is almost everything. Be rethoric(Ask questions so that they must answer Yes! Ask questions that already include the answer) For example, Isn't it ridiculus and totally against every logic thinking that you say a unlocked bootloader is the cause of a sunk powerbutton?
As long as they are humans, they have to say, yes... this is the only answer... otherwise they would be ridiculus.

holy crap, say them they HAVE to, or are they willing to see a BIG article in a popular newspaper with your problem and their answer... ask the shop assistant if he wants his name to be published etc... PROVOKE! FORCE them to repair it on warranty.. say them that a friend of yours also got the phone fixed for the same issue

Awesome Response
Holy sh*t, take my thanks
No, seriously, great and elaborate response, I'm gonna try that.
I bought a new charger cable today (just as a last test) and it won't even start charging on AC current. Guess it's really the phone's fault. Oh well, hate to wait for the replacement, but better than a broken phone, right?
Thanks again and have a nice day

Battery Issues (Please Save My Fone)

Okay, okay, im being a litte dramatic but the situation is actually very serious.
Since a year ago I started using custom roms on my thea xt1078. Thats when my problem began. For some unknown reason everytime my battery gets to zero, my fone doesnt charge.
Yeah, it get stuck on logo screen eternally, and does't charge even on fastboot. Ive tried 3 or 4 different roms and the resut is the same. The only way to make my fone work is going to a friends repair store and "shocking" the battery, also charging it outside the fone. This situation its getting me a little on the edge since i use my fone heavily for work.
I'm now using the CMW with ViperOs and a custom bootlogo.
Guys, please, please give me a hand here ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

you should replace the USB charging circuit. Moto G phones are known for charging circuit issues.

Xiaomi Redmi 4x 0% won't charge

Hi.
Well this is a longer story. I try to tell the thumbnails.
The phone got (ocean) wet but didn't show problems for about a week or two then it stopped charging "normally" meaning charging got very slow and drained fast. Figured it was the little usb panel on the bottom. I ordered new one but putting it back together a screw stuck between the battery and the metal backplate. Pretty lame huh? I disassembled it fast so I thought sigh no problem. (the battery was on fire after i got it out and threw it on the ground in anger)
So I bought a new - not original - battery too. All ran fine again like it was before.
Then suddenly The phone turned off and looked like it was a bootloop.
Here's the interesting part because I don't remember if I already unlocked and put custom recovery / image on the phone before or only at this ponint. Mark this point.
After this, the phone only turned on while on the HP laptop's usb port with the little thunderbolt on it. Must have some tremendous juice or something. The phone shows 0% drained, not charging.
I switched cables, the usb part and battery again but still the same with both batteries, cables etc. Factory reset naturally.
My question is basically if this can happen because of a faulty/bad version/whatnot bootloader (I think i use TWRP) or this is a motherboard failure then? I don't have a HP laptop and have to search for one in case you say it does worth a try.
Thanks

if there was a warranty on it, that'd been the first thing i'd done. naturally.
