ICS Boot Animation - Epic 4G Themes

Found this on Android Police. It's the boot animation for the Nexus Prime. I haven't tested it yet, but it should work with these steps:
1) First you have to be rooted and have a file explorer like root explorer
2) Find the boot animation you like, download it and place it on your sdcard
3) Using root explorer, or what ever you use, move the bootanimation.zip to system/media and reboot
Enjoy!
Edit: OP updated with the correct resolution. The previous one worked but this looks a lot more clear.
NOTE: Use the bootanimation.zip for EC05. Use the sanim.zip for any Gingerbread Build, such as EH17. If you are on EH17, make sure you have a kernel that supports boot animations, such as EH17plus.

Think you could show a video of it? I have yet to flash a kernel, so I can't use bootanimation.zip boot screens, just .qmg ones that nubecoder has found.

No dice on my EH17 build. Looks like the zip file is being intercepted by bootani.qmg
I've also tried extracting the folder and putting it in system/media/video next to the shutdown folder. Still no luck.
Any ideas?

[MOD] Bootanimation.zip for Eugene's Froyo Rom

Hey all. Since Eugene's Froyo Roms support bootanimations.zip, let the bootanimation mods begin.
The one i am using now, is R2D2, ripped from a Droid2 in this link:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/09/08/download-official-r2-d2-droid-2-boot-animation/
The original DL link is dead so you will need to use this one.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K03CII0G
It says it is tweaked to work on the D1, but it works like a champ on my vibrant.
enjoy
Not my fault if this kills your phone.
How to:
1: Find and download the bootanimation.zip you would like to use.
2: using root explorer(or whatever you want) go to /system/media/ and either backup/rename/remove bootanimation.zip
3: place the bootanimation.zip that you want to use in /system/media
4: reboot and watch the animation goodness.

[SHUTDOWN ANIMATION] "Nexus S -like" CRT Effect

Did my best to replicate the Nexus S (Gingerbread) sleep animation. Don't complain if it's not exactly the same.

Extract the "shutdown" folder from the zip file and copy it into your /system/media/video folder.
You should backup and/or delete your current shutdown folder to prevent the folders from merging.
Thats pretty cool but just remember the CRT animation is for putting the phone to sleep on the Nexus S which is what people really wanted for the Captivate. GJ though!
Looks good. I will try this out soon.
@flashman - there is no way this can be put as sleep animation. That animation in 2.3 is pretty deep inside the framework and very hard implement on 2.2 (at least for now).
How exactly would I insert this. I'm using droid explorer and managed to back up my previous Shutdown folder. But when I try to then delete my old one it doesn't delete. It wont let me delete the old shutdown or add this animation to the system folder. Am I doing something wrong?
nvm, got it done through root explorer, great work!

Uhhh, yeah. I know that. I was merely stating that people want the CRT as the sleep animation. I have followed the request thread and know that is pretty much a dead thread.
Not to step on your toes...but here is the crt shutdown I madefor the Phoenix rom. This was my prototype without the Phoenix logo. This can be flashed with cwm, however you will want to go into the system/media/shutdown folder and delete the previous files. If you don't you will get the remainder of your previous shutdown when this is finished.

...and just let me know if this is thread hijacking and I will remove link if op desires.

Hello guys this is my second Bootanimation and hope you guys like it.
Download:
MediaFire: Download
Installation:
1. Copy bootanimation.zip to the root of your SD Card
2. Move it to /data/local/ or /system/media/ and replace existing one using root explorer.
Reboot and Enjoy!
If animation is to fast or if you need it to work on your older phone, open attached desc.txt file and just modify the the resolution values based on your device screen size (high end devices 480x800 (width x height).
Example: if your resolution values are 320x480, your txt file should look like this in the first line:
320 480 12

[BOOT] Kitty Cat Animations (EC05, EG22) | 8/11

Kitty Cat Boot Animations
This is my first break into boot/shutdown animations. I put these together for my wife, an adamant cat lover. We stumbled upon Simon’s Cat videos on youtube and it just made her think of her fluffy cat. That’s all it took, so I put these together as a surprise to bring more cat joy to her phone! The look I went for was to have the cat clean itself until the phone is shut down, where it finally stops to look at the screen. There is a separate flash-able for EC05 and EG22 because Gingerbread uses sanim.zip instead of bootanimation.zip. You will require a kernel with boot animation support. While the boot animations should appear just fine, I have not actually tested the shutdown animations yet and am simply assuming how it will appear. Enjoy!

About Flashing Shutdown Animations:
Shutdown animation exists as a sequence of PNG files in /system/media/video/shutdown so this zip will simply copy the image files there. HOWEVER, since this is not simply replacing one file like the boot animation, if you currently have a shutdown animation this zip you should delete the folder using your root accessible file manager of choice (unsolicited advertisement: Root Explorer does very well with read/write permissions and is totally worth the purchase) or adb the folder out of there. If you flash over an existing PNG sequence it may be prone to weird flashing and stuttering.
DISCLAIMER: ALWAYS have a backup of your system BEFORE you flash. I am not responsible for anything bad happening to your phone should you choose to flash these files.

I figured it out after trying to push the folder manually. There was no cfg file included so I made one. Also for some reason all the png suffixes we capitalized which didn't seem to work so I changed those and it works now.

Full credit for the boot animation itself goes to JaeKar99 over at Rootzwiki. I just changed and cropped the image sizes to 480x800.
NOTE: This was originally landscaped, but I'm not a big fan of landscape boot animations on my phone so I upped the image size so that the height was 800 then cropped it down to only 480 width. This results in only capturing the middle of the actual boot animation, but I think it turned out pretty darn good.
I can easily up the resolution or change to landscape if anyone is interested... just post the resolution and portrait/landscape and I will be happy to oblige.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Step 1: Download a boot animation using a link below
- Step 2: Copy the boot animation to your sdcard
- Step 3: Use a file explorer (I recommend ES File Explorer) to navigate to your current bootanimation.zip
* If you are using an AOSP ROM this should be /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
* If you are using a Sense ROM this should be /system/customize/resource/VZW_bootanimation.zip
- Step 4: Make a backup of your existing boot animation file by copying it to your sdcard
- Step 5: Delete the boot animation file from the system folder
- Step 6: Copy the custom boot animation file and paste it to where the original boot animation file was located
- Step 7: Rename the file exactly like the original.
- Step 8: Reboot the phone

Ugh that's weird.... which ROM are you running? I'm on Skyraider Zeus and it is working fine. I've heard of people having issues if the permissions are not correct. Can you please check to be sure they are set correctly? Mine are currently set to User, Group, and Other having Read and Write permissions checked.
Sorry for the issues.

Currently giving gingeritis 3d a spin.
I changed permissions to match yours the 2nd time around. Still not getting any luck with it. =l
I know you've set the bootanimation up correctly, so it must be a problem on my side somewhere along the lines.
It's okay though, I have the galaxy nexus jellybean bootanimation you posted up a few weeks ago and I still love it
Thanks for your work!!

Glad you're diggin the other one Sorry this one isn't working. If you want to test further I can try swapping out the images on the the gnex jb animation and sending directly to you.
Thanks again!
If you want to try that, I'll definitely give it a shot. I'm not trying to make you do more work though. Lol.

I have gotten a thumbs up that this has fixed the issue from someone who was also getting the black screen on Rootz so I went ahead and updated the OP.
Please let me know if this fixes the issue for you as well.
Thanks!

Glad it works! I think it's an issue with some ROMs not allowing the use of jpg files... I went back to good ol png's and all is well.
Thanks for letting me know it worked!
