Stock Email Program Not Working - LG Thrill 4G

I am having a hell of a time getting the stock mail program to work. I have it set to sync every 30 minutes but it just doesn't. The only time it pulls in emails is when I manually launch the program and click update. I have sync on and no task manager/killer installed. I'm missing important emails because of it. If I can't get it to work, I'm gonna have to go back to an iPhone 4 that the email app actually worked.

I guess I'm headed out in the morning to get in line for a iPhone 4s and gonna return my Thrill. This is ridiculous that the email program doesn't even work right and I lose 10% per hour of battery life idling. I guess I rely too much on getting email on my phone when I'm away from the pc. This phone is actually causing me to lose business because I'm missing emails. I wish everyone the best of luck with their Thrills, but I'm headed back to the iPhone side.

About to exchange the Tilt but don't want to. please help !

I posted a thread below concerning xpress mail not working, and it's a big hassle. I'm on the verge of going to the ATT store and returning it but need to know if there's an easy way to uninstall the "Comm Manager" app I installed from this site, and have the default one come back ? Thing is, if I go to the corporate store, and they have a look at it to troubleshoot, and see the hacked Comm Manager, they might just tell me to take a walk because whatever went wrong is likely my fault.
I'd really rather have a nice working Tilt, but it just seems to be getting worse and worse every time I pick it up ! Here's a quote from a different forum explaining:
I'm no longer receiving mail, and I'm not able to add any new mail accounts. When I tap on add new email account, it simply brings me to the yahoo inbox. Then, if I hit Menu>Tools>new account, it goes nowhere. Or if I go to options, and hit the new account option, nothing happens at all.
What the heck could I have possibly done ? I don't recall making any system changes that would do this ? As said earlier, I only installed comm manager and Kaiser tweak. Could either of those programs have changed the nature of what is happening now ?
I'm pretty much on the verge of taking the Tilt back today, because this is the biggest hassle I've had with a phone. I thought that the power behind WM 6 would be a bonus on top of having a good phone, but it's not looking that way. I was willing to tweak it to hell, but if I can't get to the bottom of why the phone is acting this way (hardware, or software issue ?) then I'd rather not waste the rest of my 30 day evaluation figuring it out, then having it be too late to exchange it.
So it's either the Treo 750, the Centro or the iPhone. And if I find out that I'd be able to change the SIM on the iPhone when I travel over seas, I'll likely just get that, despite the lack of cut/paste and some other stuff.
Sorry if this is technically cross posting or double thread posting etc.. I really need some help here !
Doug
Perform a hard reset and see if that clears up the issue. Then install one thing at a time and see if that thing breaks your mail.
Thanks, but I've done several hard reboots now, even followed directly by soft boots, and nothing has worked at all. I'm literally about to head out to the ATT store to see if they can help, and if not, it's getting exchanged.

[Q] Seriously.. this shutting down thing is pissing me off

Seriously..
what is the deal with the phone just randomly shutting off. I've read the posts and am on my THIRD phone!!
I thought I had one the "Captivate Lottery" because it wasn't shutting down for a few weeks... then one day, BAM!
Then the next day, BAM... now it seems like it may go for a few days, then shut off a bunch again, then go for a few more days then shutdown again.
Now, I'm happy if it doesn't shutdown 3 or 4 times a day.
I'm past my 30 days.. what the hell should I do?
I understand your frustration because it is, in fact, a lottery. I won on the third try, but it obviously will take you more effort.
The only app that has caused problems for some is SetCPU. I suspect that certain settings were mis-managed by the users and that the app itself is o.k.
What should you do? If you purchased your unit at an AT&T corporate store, see if the Warranty Department will permit you to once again exchange the phone at the store. If you have multiple stores in the area, try another one. Maybe their batch is more stable. Under any circumstance, do not settle. Get a unit that works to your satisfaction.
Thanks for your kind words... I have a co-worker that has the same phone and his has NEVER had a shutdown.. all 3 of mine started shutting down after a couple of weeks.
My next question since I've had to return/reset this phone so many times I am sick of having to re-download/install/configure it over and over again.
What is the best/easiest way to restore all your settings and apps again after returning it?
I think you will have to call ATT and ask for a replacement. Since you are past your thirty day limit, you will be offered a refurbished phone. This is the process im going through right now. I went to an ATT store and they told me since im past my 30 they cant do anything. Only way was to call ATT warrantee

You're in luck. Download Titanium Backup from the Market. After that's accomplished, you need to understand that the default backup location for files is internal to the phone. The Catch-22 is that you'd be returning the phone...along with the backup! Here's how you can backup everything and retain your "stuff" for restoration to your new phone (you'll need to purchase an external SD card if you don't already have one installed. Inexpensive.)
Goal: Instruct Titanium Backup to automatically store your backup files on an external SD card so that restoring the backups in the event you need to exchange your phone becomes a convenient task.
Resolution: In Titanium's preferences change the backup folder name to sd/TitaniumBackup, as the default TitaniumBackup folder is, by default, internal to your phone. Then create your "portable" backup now to be domiciled on your external SD card.
Using Titanium Backup:
First, go to Settings, Applications, Development and check USB debugging. TB needs this.
In Titanium Backup select Backup/Restore then press the menu button. Select Batch then the "RUN" button you'll pick is the one that reads "Backup all user apps + system data." Then press Select all, then press Run the batch operation. After it completes the job use a File Manager (like Astro) to make sure that the backup is, in fact, on the external SD card.
Remove the external SD card and await the arrival of your new phone. Once received, install the SD card in your new phone and restore the backup.
Maybe I've gotten very lucky - I started getting "Sleeping Death" a few days after I have received the phone.
Rooted, Applied the Voodoo Fix (which uses a vanilla kernel I believe?) and it seems to have fixed it.. Hasn't done it in a week now.
So I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is software and not hardware related.
Nice Jack! You rock!
I'll think I'll follow your advise. Maybe then I wont be as upset when I return my phone for the 25th time..
I hate to say it, great phone when it works but this is the buggiest hardware I've seen. Imagine if this was going on with the iphone, we'd all be getting new phone's and there would be some huge news media about it.
I wonder if all the people with the custom ROM's have the same issue?
Got my replacement in the mail, it looks brand new to me. So far so good for the day, installed LauncherPro, AIM, MSN, and probably installing games later. It has been fine. The old phone I am sending back shut off pretty much every time I tried picking it up to check the time about 8-10 times a day.

When I first got my third phone (the stable one) my heart skipped a beat each time I looked at it, worried that I'd find it turned off. After a while you learn to take it for granted that it's "solid." Hope your good luck continues.

Thanks, hopefully it will be fine. Luckily somehow I ended up with 7 screen protectors (3 from ATT, 2 Bodyguards, and 2 from Stealth guards when they were giving them away + shipping cost) I will put one on it later today maybe and since I have so many, it won't really matter if, hopefully not, I have to send it back later or take it off.
I was all happy for awhile but that ended. Now its about 6 or more times a day.
I am tring different settings and now a different launcher to see if its something to do with the stock software installed.
I am intrigued with the voodoo hack but I am not sure I want to go that far yet. I respond if I find anything that is successful.

Don't waste your time. It's hardware-based. Anyone going down the road of trying to assess which software is causing the shutdowns is playing with themselves. Well, at least you don't have to look your best.
Exchange it. Your other alternative is to...exchange it. In other words, (well, you get the picture).
I agree, trade it in. I have had this new one for a week and no shutdowns.

Congratulations. Wise decision, positive result. Can't ask for anything more.
Well, This is interesting...
So after my rant on this exact topic, I decided to give one last thing a try.
I changed my default launcher to launcher pro...
Its been almost a day with no shutdowns (it was doing it 6-7 times a day).
If I make it through today with no shutdowns, I'll post again.
Wish me luck!

[Q] Mail sync

Since yesterday, my phone started to get slow about syncing my mails. Before, it only took a minute before it notified me about a new mail. Now it could take more than half a day for it to notify me if I don't sync it manually. I haven't changed anything so I am confused.
Any ideas?
Are you talking about Gmail? It is the same for me. Push does not work any more. I have to refresh manualy and it takes loooong before it loads.

[Q] Is there hope in my calander-Samsung Captavate

I will enter a date or appointment and with in a few minutes it is gone! This has happened several-MANY times, even after I have removed the battery, and sim turned the phone on and off..Have any of you had this problem and how to correct it? Thank you,
Are you syncing with another application? Which?
Do you have bluetoothe syncing enabled - and - is it active in your calendar sync?
Does it happen randomly or only when you enter a date or appointment?
Has this happenned from when you first bought your device - or - did it begin after an update or an additional application addition?
Peace-
calander
My apts are always entered as corp. apts for my corp exchange account. This acct is set to sync every 15 minutes during the day. This is how I keep track of my time and post it to my server for accounting and billing. This didnt start happening until I had had the phone for about 2 months. Now it occurs randomly. My sync is via wiFi or At&t data link. I dont use Blue tooth. Things will work fine for several days then one day decide not to for a while. I had sat there and entered a service call 3 and 4 times only to watch it dissappear within 5 minutes. Turning the phone off, taking the battery out might fit it or might not. Then it will start working again. The next day it will work for sure. Phone has been replaced once with the same problems. I have very few apps as this is mostly a phone and time keeping tool for me.
Thank you for your help

PLEASE HELP

i need some help and i do not know where to go.i think my ex is in my phone. my phone will randomly shut off on its own. certain settings that i have turned off will turn back on by themselves. bank apps and social media apps will be signed out when i wake up in the morning. one time i found a video with my pictures and it was a video of me sleeping. video was all black so all you heard was me sleeping. deleted photos that has been deleted for quite some time re appear and there always pictures of me and him. my son also requested my data from facebook and there was a device listed that was name OnePlus which i have never heard of. Also i decided to grab an older phone of mine to use. i signed into snapchat account on my older phone and it did not log me out of note 8. both phones were active at the same time with the same account which i know should not be possible. i also get a ton of random texts from fake email address or numbers and the message is always some obscure message with a bunch of symbols and numbers. and they always come in right when i leave my house or when i am out and about. also every now and than i can be using my phone and right when im using it everything just stops. i cant access apps at all. i can open them but i have no network connectivity. even tho on the top of my phone it will say i have full bars and i have 5g working. and itll stay like that for sometimes 30 mins to an hour. what can i do? should i replash my firmware? to take out what ever letting him remotely access my phone? im so lost at this point. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!!
Lots of solutions...
One is to factory reset and start fresh with a new PIN.
what you can do is inform your family, friends, employer etc. that you have been hacked and it's possible they receive messages from you you actually have never sent in person. ask them to call you instead of texting.
besides that, I recommend digital detox. is your phone really that important you can't even leave the house without?
