mango zune on hd7 freezes - HD7 General

OMFG
zune on mango is bugged
answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-wpmusic/zune-on-wp7-freezes-between-songs/e862bde0-fd1f-471e-9822-5c7a44746390?page=1&tm=1317933043062
there is a f***** way to resolve this f**** problem that freezes the phone every time i listen music in random play? or i have to downgrade TO NODO !??!??!?!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!?

Did you force the update? because I had this problem on the Dev Preview, but with the official update and HTC Firmware update it is fixed. You need the HTC Firmware update.

i forced the update through zune with the internet trick, my update is official! i've done the same thing with nodo!

THIS IS INCORRECT. MANGO DID NOT BUGGER UP ZUNE. STOP SPREADING HEARSAY.
I've had this problem since April (bought phone in March) with original HD7 firmware. It's related to WMA and/or Zune Pass DRM content. The problem continued through both NoDo and into Mango.
Deleting the Zune Pass Subcription content and redownloading fixes the problem. Been problem free since doing this 2-weeks ago. No problem. Works perfectly for hours, without usb power connection.
Note:
DRM Free only content will not freeze (mp3's);
Running device on USB power will not freeze;
If you've ever taken a long flight with your WP7 device, you may have run into the problem -- while in the air, turn on Zune and all drm-protected content refuses to play. Only drm-free content works. MS should look at the way Zune routinely reviews drm certificate or db integrity.

Ive solved the problem
i was using wma drm free 96kbs for put more music in the fucching 16gb
with mp3 128kbs there is no problem. But this is not acceptable

aquanaut88 got lucky - the described fix doesn't work for everyone. Certainly not me.
Also, this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with DRM'd files. It's reproducable with unprotected WMAs ripped from CDs.
onorevole.paolo - you've not soved the problem, you've found a workaround. Plus it won't help with Zune Pass content.

From the Microsoft Answers thread, someone received this response from HTC:
"We are aware of this troubling issue and we are working closely with the carriers to develop a maintenance release to correct it. Our developers are currently working on this and we hope to have an update available for you soon. We do not yet have an ETA to provide for you. To stay on top of release dates for upgrades and new devices, you can follow our social network feeds on Twitter and Facebook, or our official website at htc.com/us. However, you will receive direct notification to your device once this is available for download and installation."

[Q] zune login problem?

I don't know if this is the proper place to ask. Maybe I'm better off getting an answer from Microsoft forums, but has anyone been having a login problem after purchasing a zune pass? I can't login I purchased one a few days ago and have not had a problem loging in till now. It just started happening today. I can't sync my music to my hd7 unless I'm logged in. The music was downloaded using my zune pass.
Zune wouldn't let me log in earlier today and at one point my username/avatar wasn't even being displayed in the upper right corner. May just be a temporary server issue because I've since been able to log in again.
I don't have Zune pass BTW.
Zune and Zune login is working just fine for me. Haven't noticed any real issues. I do not have a Zune Pass though so not too sure what's going on.
I was having the same problem earlier, but now all is good.
yes, all is better now. sweet.
zunesupport on twitter confirmed an issue, it seems to be fixed now
I'm on my third HD7, and I noticed this after i got my second one. I can't sign into my Zune software and I can't download anything from the market on my phone. I'm having this problem right now. Restarted both phone and computer and nothing helps.

[Q] Zune Marketplace issue

I bought some free products from the Zune marketplace through my pc, but they've never appeared.
I connected the phone through wifi to try to install these products but useless.
Three updates appeared, when i try to update them, this message appears:"The Windows Live ID Service is unavailable right now.....".
When you try to install an application through the phone, this message appears:"can't get this info right now check back in a little while."
I have read a lot about this issue and tried to do many steps and things but useless and didnt find a solution that solves this issue.
hint: it was working well before.

[OTA Update] T-Mobile USA 5/10/11

Mentioned patching a security hole but nothing else that I saw. Just finished installing, version shows 7.0.7392.0
Fix for fraudulent third-party digital certificates. This update includes a critical fix to an industry-wide issue with nine untrusted digital certificates that were issued by one root certificate authority. These third-party digital certificates are used to access popular websites and email portals. Although this is not a Microsoft security vulnerability, these untrusted certificates may be used to spoof content, perform phishing attacks, or perform man-in-the-middle attacks against all web browser users. This update moves the affected certificates to the "Untrusted Publishers" certificate store on Windows Phone, which helps ensure that these fraudulent certificates are not inadvertently used.

That's all it's supposed to be and is. Just got it too. Glad I did as I needed a fresher backup
According to Walsh it also has other fixes though... I wouldn't doubt Microsoft just threw something in there, after all, they didn't mention a single bug fix in NoDo, though obviously there were some.
Issues with 7392 and phone battery life
I'm reading about some users in UK facing horrible battery life after 7392 update... not sure i want to update my phone.

UPDATE:
Couldn't wait any more and updated it just now... will post back the results tomorrow.
my phone is updating as i type. back up is taking long to finish. probably because i have lots of files in it.
and its eating approximately 3gb of my disc space
is it safe if i cut and save the back up to a disc of a thumb drive?will it make a difference to paste back the files to its directory given that i need to restore my phone to its previous version?
thanks
updating mine now...will post results...

Can someone just explain to me once I have this 7392.0 update installed do I need to update the firmware and radio and boot loader do these change with the zune software update or do I need to manually update them by flashing with a ruu installer, what's the difference between zune updates and the flashing the latest tmobile rom are they the same thing? Does anyone have a link to the latest tmobile us rom for htc hd7.

Was pleased to get the update today... 3 updates in total...
Lovin the new homescreen... :good:
Also, the new colours are great... Even the old colours look better (red/orange)... They really have body, like an amoled without an amoled...
No "Trick", no Tool...
Just go to Zune and ... hey there's an UPDATE.
Love new Homescreen.
And my Lumia 710 just wait for it.
Does this mean the HD7s will get it too?
The relation between this 2 models confuses me and I couldn't find a hd7s specific forum
(Maybe I'm a n00b... Like the ones mentioned in the video haha)
The trick method with zune (pulling out the cable) didn't work for me for the last two days, but I had to do a hard reset on the phone and changed the system locale to English (Canada), and that seemed to get the update done - I had seen a bunch of Canadians getting the update, so I tried this and it worked!
US T-Mobile HD7 upgrade to 7.8
Has anyone gotten upgrade to 7.8 on their phone?
I tried the disconnect method, but no joy.
Use Seven-Eighter, it worked for me.
Don't forget to select all languages you have installed to update.
Spanish HD7 updated to 7.8!
Hi, I just wanna share my experience with you:
NOTE 1: First of all, try a normal update on Zune without doing any special trick, Many people is updating the device without any special action!
NOTE 2: There are some data consumption related bugs. Check them here.
This has been my experience:
There are 3 updates to install, as previously mentioned: 7.10.8779.8 --> 7.10.8783.12 --> 7.10.8858.136
These are the steps to follow on each update, taken from several posts over the net as this:
1) Disconnect WiFi and other data connections on the device.
2) Connect device to Zune
3) Go to settings->phone->update
4) While searching for updates for the device count to 5 and disconnect internet on your computer (WiFi, ethernet, whatever...).
5) Wait about 30 seconds for the Zune response.
6) If "no updates available" or "error searching" or similar response is shown, go to another option in the left menu and then repeat the process from step 3. If "update found", go to Step 7.
7) Reconnect Internet access (ethernet, WiFi...) on your computer (not the phone).
8) Follow instructions to install the update
Some notes:
- I have spent more than 15 tries to make Zune show the update. It depends on Internet/computer response when searching to Microsoft update servers. If 5 seconds don't work for you, try changing the wait time. In my case, started with 1 second, then 2, then 3... 5 resulted to be the perfect one. The second and third update only used 3 search attemps. Using wireshark may help, look at instructions explained by user "medeis" on a comment in this page: here.
- 1st update is very slow, the second and the third is much faster (no backup required as in first).
- Repeat this procedure for every update (3 in total).
It worked for me on my unbranded HTC HD7 from Spain. It runs very smoothly, but nothing special apart from the new tiles (ok, great), accent colors (unnecessary, don't know why I can't choose one from a color picker...) and lock screen (my child is more beautiful thant any bing image...)
Cheers,
xdomingo
i think , removing simcard ! is only thing we need. works for me in first hours 7.8 coming ...

Question for anyone who streams music over bluetooth; how is the sound quality? In previous versions, audio bitrates were purposely crippled in the registry and it sounded awful. Did they fix that? Zune has started to badger me about this update as well, and I'm tempted to update. I'm running a modded firmware just to get around the bluetooth issue and don't want to update if it's just going to get me crappy sound quality again...

[Q] HTC One 64 GB Developer Edition - Google Play Movies issue

I have done searches here and in AT&T HTC One forum, did not see anybody had the same issue, which is sad (well, for me :silly
When trying to play any purchased or free movies or TV show episode, getting "There was a problem while playing [31]. Touch to retry" error message. After few consequent retries movie could start, but if paused, will not play again, also if rewound or fast forwarded, will not restart.
I cleared memory from Google Play, Google Play Movies, Google Play Services, restarted the phone (in long mode too), nothing helps.
Google Play support is useless, their answer is ridiculous: "Please restart the device, if after restart it still won't play, this device is incompatible with Google Play Movies at this time. Thanks, Martin, Google Play support". These guys are just have a robot replying with copypasted text without even knowing what device is in question. Should I tell HTC their flagship device is "incompatible with Google Play Movies at this time"?
If anybody saw this issue before and knows how to fix, please, help!
Sorry, if it was already discussed, I made several searches and read this forum to page 30, till got tired
Nobody else has this issue? That's really sucks

I'm right there with you. I've been playing with my new HTC One Developers Edition for a few days and have the exact same issue as you've described. I fired up my Nexus 4 and couldn't get it to error out even once.
I may just give up on the movies from Google play until HTC can fix this.
I have this same problem. Although, I'm using a tmobile One.

Same issue in the UK on sim free 32gb
Same issue here. AT&T 32 gig.
Ok, at least I see some others having same issue with non-US, ATT. TMO phones in both 64 GB and 32. Means the problem is not isolated to one modification or one operator.
Assuming the issue is with HTC firmware. Maybe (just a wild guess) related to the issue HTC can't recognize (can't see) some files downloaded from network with some tools e.g. ES File Explorer, somehow when the video is being cached the Google Play Movies application can't see it. Need to try something. So far I have one direction.
Since the problem exists even for files I make available offline from Google Play Movies, I am going to download one movie, then find it in temp directory it cached, connect my phone to the PC, and transfer it to the PC and back with USB. Then retry. Will report.
BTW, did anybody try HTC Support? Are they same level useless as Google Support?
[UPDATE] It did not work. Same error even though I checked the movie file is there (\Android\data\com.google.android.videos\files\Movies)
I've heard this is a problem caused by rooting the phone. Anyone here have their HTC One unrooted and on stock that can say they are or aren't experiencing this problem?

This is unfortunately one of the side effects of using the Dev Edition. It also won't play movies and ther content purchased from HTC store. This is related to DRM security. I doubt it can be fixed. See below disclaimer to the Dev Edition from HTC website.
"Special note about the unlocked bootloader: With an unlocked bootloader, some content on your device may also be invalidated and cannot be accessed anymore because of invalid DRM security keys. This includes content that you may have purchased through a 3rd party vendor and through HTC."
I have both the Dev Ed and AT&T version and the latter has no issues playing Google Play and HTC content.

I can play a movie if it starts from the beginning (not always but it will work). If I try and stop the movie and restart from the stopped position I get the error 31. Also I had the Nexus 4 with unlocked boot-loader with root and I did not have this issue.
Also as of July of 2012 Google started allowing Play-movies on rooted device.

Mine behaves the same way. It's definitely specific to the Dev Edition as my AT&T model works fine and it IS caused by unlocked bootloader on this specific model, as stated by HTC. The fact that your Nexus 4 doesnt exhibit the same bahavious is irrelevant. Obviously Google would not cripple their own device by making it incompatibile with Play store.

BUT I can play movies I just have a problem starting the movie again once I have stopped watching it. I'm on AT&T unlocked with root. I can download the movie I can stream the movie. As long as I start watching the movie and don't stop I am fine. But if I want to watch 30 minutes and then a few hours later try to watch the move again I have to start all over. YouTube is fine Netflix is fine.

Some content on your device. I do not have this content on my device. It is being streamed. Besides, if it was due to invalid DRM security keys, it would be not playing. Period. But it is inconsistently playing after several retries, or even from the first time. But does not renew the play after pausing. I am not convinced this is something caused by invalidity of DRM keys. I would rather think something in HTC firmware.

I've got a 32gb AT&T HTC One which is completely stock and I've run into this problem (network error, try again later), both when I try to stream a HD movie AND with a downloaded HD movie (I haven't tried SD). The odd thing is when I tried it just now the downloaded HD movie played just fine; very snappy in fact and almost instantaneous seeking within the movie. I then purchased another HD movie as a test; that one streamed just fine. Although seeking wasn't quite as quick (which isn't unexpected) playback was fine.
Not sure if this helps or just confuses the issue, but that's my experience. I'll chime in again if anything changes (like it goes back to displaying network errors).
PS: the first time I tried this, the phone was connected to the HD Media Link I got w/ preorder. The problem persisted after I disconnected from the media link, but I wonder if the media link is the cause. I'll try hooking up to the media link after my wife gets done watching her shows to see if it works there.
I have the same issue on a 100% stock Developer Edition. After reading the posts in this thread, it seems like, collectively, the posters here have enough information to definitively answer two questions, but not all the information has been posted, so the answers are still unclear:
Several people in the thread have reported this issue on non-Developer Edition phones, but none of them explicitly state whether the phone is rooted or bootloader unlocked (except for the last poster, but he's reporting different error: "network error", not "There was a problem ... [31]"). If we can get confirmation that the error happens consistently on stock, locked, unrooted phones, that would rule out the "invalid drm keys" theory.
At least one poster claimed that Google Play Movies worked for them on the Developer Edition, but did not say whether they could stop and restart playback. Since the problem does not manifest unless playback is stopped and restarted, this is not clear evidence that movies play properly on some Dev Edition phones. In my case, I can pause and resume as long as Google Play Movies was the foreground app. If I switched to another app and then came back, I am unable to restart playback, and get the error 31. Anybody out there able to stop playback, switch apps, then switch back and resume playback on a Developer Edition phone?
Data point: Most or all of the HTC One reviews of the Google Play Movies app are 1 star, reporting that movies don't play back. Maybe this is widespread across HTC One models?
Assuming it really is an issue with DRM keys, does anybody know:
Will relocking the bootloader will restore the DRM keys?
What DRM keys are we talking about, and how are they generated, stored, and managed? The android DRM framework is plugin-based, but there's no way I know of (short of writing an app) to figure out what plugins are present; and even if we knew the set of plugins we wouldn't know what "type" Google Play is trying to use. It would really help to know, e.g., if there's a single set of keys that's mated to the phone somehow, and once they're gone they're gone, or whether you can generate a new set of keys that would at least work for newly purchased content, if not existing content. Are DRM keys invalidated when the bootloader is unlocked because they're erased, or because they're marked invalid somehow? Is the DRM key management fully or partially hardware based, or all done in software? Etc.
There's a notable lack of documentation for android.drm; it doesn't seem like it would really be useable without having documentation for the plugins on any given platform, and that doc doesn't seem to be available for HTC.

Those are good questions. Hope users will be able to answer. So far it looks like there are not much Google Play Movies users on HTC One Dev Edition, so, the problem is not annoying enough people to blow up.
I was not able to get any support on the issue from Google Play neither from HTC. HTC blames Google, Google, naturally, blames HTC (I posted their answer earlier). No help, ho clue, no hope. How expectable from Google and HTC. I have never had good support from either of them.
