I can no longer debug apps in Visual Studio on my HD7. Are there any solutions to the problem?
"the application could not be launched for debugging"
Although it deploys to the device, it does -not- debug. I'm led to believe that this is an interop-chevron unlock problem. Are there any Mango ROM's available without this hacky-hack for developers?
It might or might not be due to jailbreaking your phone.
Because I'm running Mango on my HD7 with ChevWP7 + Interop-Unlock, and can deploy and debug fine.
My summarized config is:
Visual Studio 2010 SP1
SDK Tools 7.1
Project Targets Windows Phone 7.1
You are not getting a detailed error or something? Just a general failed to launch? ???
Yeah, just a failed launch.
Honestly, if it's NOT the unlock then it has to be because I flashed one of Ansar's "Bell" Roms which has changed my device id to T9296(?) rather than T9295, and it changed my firmware #...
I wish I'd never flashed his rom.
Well, I managed to get debug working by installing a NON-Interop/Chevron unlocked vanilla ROM.
So you solved the issue by another flash
Your device ID is the same no?
Yeah, it stayed as T9296 with Firmware rev ID: 2250.21.40501.841
Well this is definitively odd, I will keep that in my mind if I come across this issue

I used the "WindowsBreak" method (credit to jaxbot) and everything seems to work as expected; reboot the phone and try to deploy a XAP with the official app deployment tool from microsoft and no matter what I do, XAPs will not deploy. Is there another deployment solution out there I need to be using?

i was running Win 7 x64 and had to run the deployer in admin mode otherwise it would come up with that message.
give that a shot and see how you got on.
Just whilst your here, im curious, i will be getting a Focus S soon but ive been reading a lot of info saying that the 8107 update via zune should be avoided because it will stop the ability to dev and interop unlock samsung devices.
But ive not found a single post saying that anyone with a focus S has had issues, if you wouldnt mind, have you seen any issues or heard of anything?
I am running W7 x64 as well. Tried running deployment in admin; no bueno.
Try install this program for sideload xaps on to device. It works with x64 and x86.
Remember windows phone only allow to sideload 10 unsigned apps on device but if you have windowbreaked your device there are currently some ways to expand that to a higher number of apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=860964
Remember to apply xaps
- Make sure your device is connected with PC and Zune lauched in background
- Make sure your device not in sleep mode
Hello,
I had some problem while enabling the FS full access with my Samsung ATIV S (OS version 8.0.10211.204).
Here are the steps I followed:
1 - first dev unlock and then interop unlock the device
2- I installed the SamWP8 Tools and I turned on the Full FS access
3 - I followed the suggestions that can be found on the various forum's threads but still I can't get access to the phone's disk (the disk seems to be empty)
Just a side note: I'm working with a Windows 7 OS and I'm virtualizing a Windows 8.1 pro + WP8 SDK - this should be a problem, since I can sideload xaps without any error.
Can someone please assist me with the solution of the issue?
Thanks in advance.
Sandro.
** Update ** I solved the issue by upgrading the OS from GDR1 to GDR2, following @MauzaoFilho and @Randοm Hero's suggetions - the device first downloads and installs the GDR2 than, if you want, it will allows the uprade to the GDR3. Thanks for the help.
Try to update your system to version GDR2, I think this is a problem of incompatibility between the interop unlock with the GDR1 and FS.
Are you running software on the PC that interacts with the phone (eg windows media player syncs, etc.)? If yes, turn that program off.

No, everything is turned off.
My problem now is: can I directly update my device to GDR3 - now I have GDR1 - while preventing the interop-unlock ?
Thanks

I think first you have to update to GDR2, then GDR3 (someone confirm this, please). If you Interop-unlock GDR2, then yes, you can indeed prevent your phone from unlocking, using the SamWP8 Tools & following the instructions in this thread
I have a Lumia 620 with Lumia Cyan + the latest developer preview update and I recently factory reset it. Today I tried developer unlocking it, and it came up with the "IpOverUsbSvc" error. I restarted my computer and got the same error, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and restarted, still same error. I uninstalled the lite 8.1 SDK (I'm on Windows 7), reinstalled it then rebooted, and still got the same error. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
edit: I searched already if you're just planning on saying that.
I seem to have the same issue on two other devices. Apparently you need files from the 8.1 Emulator Update 1 ISO. I have the Visual Studio 2013 with both Update 3 and the emulator update installed, but I too have the same error. Try running the 8.1 Power Tools update on your phone and see if it will actually give you an error code.

Thanks, probably had something to do with it being on update 1, but I managed to get it unlocked with that weird Chinese app mentioned in another thread.
Hello people,
I would like to ask for some suggestions before buying my first Windows Phone. (preferably a Lumia)
I would like to buy a WP8.1 phone that can be rooted. I am a little bit confused by all these terminology (flashing, rooting, unlocking, jailbreak, etc...) so let me explain what I mean by rooting:
I need full filesystem access, and the ability to run commands on the phone, install additional software.
The phone is strictly for debugging a certain application, It doesn't matter how the phone looks and such, the only thing matters it need to have Windows 8.1 and I have to be able to root it.
Can you please tell me which Windows 8.1 devices can be rooted currently?
Can you please recommend me such device(s) that is 100% rootable?
No Windows Phone can be 100% rooted.
You can use Developer tools to debugging

Root is a concept derived from Linux. So little Windows Phone users talk about this. For your purpose, the Widows Developer tools should do the trick.
As per my suggestion.
There is Huawei WP8.0 Device. That you can even unlocked Bootloader or can flash custom ROM. (You can update it to the 8.1 or v10)
Other Samsung/Lumia Device (Having SD-Card Support) can be Interop/Capability unlocked to test high-privileges application. (Pure App Developer Mode)
Any WP 8.0 Supports WP 8.1/WP10*

I suggest you a lumia 830, best balance performance and possiblity to hack slot sd card, it's a new series lumia x30 and you can interop ulock it with rom rebuilder or vcreg mods!!
At present, there are no publicly available hacks that I know of for "100% root" on a WP8.x device. Capability unlock - which only requires registry editing - is the closest you can get right now, I think. Interop/capability unlocks typically also mean full file system access - either on-device, via USB, or both - though you may still run into restrictions (for example, you can't edit or delete a file that the OS has a non-shared HANDLE open on).
Samsung phones probably have the most interop/capability-unlock software released for them, but the other options that @djamol suggested above would work too.
theres the developer unlock which gives you more but not 100% root.
as far as is know there is no complete unlock yet for all WP after WP7.
Thank you all, greatly appreciate your input!
I went with Samsung ATIV S !
I am sorry if this is the wrong place or forum.
I have an HTC 8XT on an MVNO of Sprint. Sprint apparently seems to be withholding a firmware update that would allow this phone to update to 8.1, Sprint 8XTs are running 8.1, but not a single 8XT on my MVNO has gotten it yet.
The current firmware I have is 3030.00.10008.651.
According to HTC the latest is 3030.00.31009.651.
I have taken this phone off my MVNO and left it in a drawer for several months hoping that it would roll off whatever database it might be in. I tried to factory reset and then let it update it over wifi (I know Lumias can do that).
It still says no update found. I chatted with an HTC rep online and reading between the lines, he seemed well aware of Sprint's shenanigans. He hinted that ROMS were 'out there' and an updated ROM, even if it weren't the latest, might be enough to trigger an update. I started my Google Fu. Nothing.
Then I read the FAQ in this forum that said if I needed an HTC ROM I was out of luck.
I know enough about flashing and rooting to be dangerous to my phone . This is not my daily phone, but it's frustrating to buy a device that says "ready for 8.1" and then not be able to roam or send MMS. I'm willing to try some warranty voiding behaviors to update it.
All that to say, is there anything else I can try? Again, apologies if this is the wrong forum. I did try a thread search and saw some close topics, but nothing like this.
Thanks
Well, the simple question is "have you tried the Developer Preview program?" because that bypasses the MO gating when your phone gets updated. Developer-unlock your phone (you don't have to sideload anything, the app just checks to see if you're unlocked), install Preview for Developers from the Store (free app from Microsoft), run it, and enable the installation of preview releases. That *should* let your phone get any relevant updates.
If that doesn't work, then I can't help you any further; I'm not a ROM guy.

Thanks for your reply.
I have been enrolled in the Developer Preview and have never gotten an update on this phone. I think I got this phone shortly after 8.1 was pulled from the DP due to the WiFi issue. Then I read on some Sprint boards that those *with* the Developer Preview were having issues installing the 8.1 when it was rolled out, so I wiped the phone. It has been several weeks since I tried Developer Preview on this phone. I thought it was on to WP10 and it wouldn't help me much.
Still, can't hurt to try to install it one more time, but I am not hopeful.
Thanks again for your time.
Edit: I think in my earlier attempts I missed the registration and unlocking of my phone. Trying that now.
Edit 2: Now it seems that sometime in May, Microsoft shut down the process for unlocking 8.0 phones with SDK
You might try to unlock the phone with the Chinese utility, but I am not sure that developer preview program really checks if your phone is unlocked. Is there a new firmware for your model in navifirm?

My phone is made by HTC. Isn't navifirm exclusively Nokia?
