Hi guys,
So I loved Twidroyd when Ubersocial hadn't messed it up. Now I've tried Plume and Tweetcaster which are too ugly for my liking. Also tried twicca which is sweet except for their system of notifying about tweets without downloading them first. Is there any way to get twicca to do that?
Or alternatively, an elegant twitter client or one with decent customizability in terms of appearance would be nice too.
Try fiddling with the Tweet Caster theme. Functionally rich and a great twitter client.

are there other options besides the 4 choices included in the app? couldn't find any on the market
Try Twicca
like i said, i hate the way twicca tells you about notifications without downloading the tweets mentioned.
plume seems second best to twidroyd so far. ubersocial just plain sucks
How about tweetdeck??

so you want it to tell you have a new mention and actually show the mention in the notification panel or something?
ive tried all the twitter clients and twicca is by far the overall best - atleast to me. it has the cleanest interface as it not being all cluttered with extra unneeded stuff on the screen and also being able to color code your followers is nice too. after twicca i would say tweetdeck would be in 2nd.
Those are pretty much it for Android twitter apps, gonna have to suck it up.. I personally use Twicca & Seesmic... Best bet is to learn how to develop apps and make one to your liking
i just use the twitter app?? it does everything fine.

i settled on plume premium. it works. what i meant was that it should have updated the app with the new tweets when it notifies me of updates, not wait for me to click on the notification, then load the app, then load the tweets.
plume premium comes close to what twidroyd used to be before ubersocial killed it. (damn you ubermedia)

what is the best twitter for magic??thanks for sharing
Rumor has it twitter will be looking to buy out whichever twitter app is the most popular, and THEY are looking at "twidroid". personally I really like it, or tweetcaster. Both are very nice.
I prefer Twicca over the other free twitter apps.
My favorite is swift or seesmic.. there are a lot of good twitter apps out there
Twicca is still in beta but I prefer its widget and setup much more then Twidroid. And even in beta it has more setting and customization.
Tweetrides Is A Nice Simple On That Doesnt Take Up Memory And Still Looks Great.
I Stuck With This Over Twidroid Seesmic And Swift.
Twitdriod-Free Version Is To Limited
Swift-Didnt Keep Up With My Tweets Well
Seesmic-Just Got Boring TO Look At
i switched from twicca to Touiteur. I just like the look better.
I currently have the widget Blue Notify for Facebook notifications, which is ok I guess but instead of the FB notifications just going to the notification bar it would be much better if there was a widget like the Launcher Pro Plus Facebook newsfeed widget that just listed notifications, does anyone know of such a thing?
I'm contemplating just getting a RSS widget and using the RSS feed of FB notifications but that isn't a very elegant solution. I really wish Facebook would give their native Android app the love that it needs especially surrounding the news feed & notifications, plus not linking outside of the app to view certain things!
I wish they would design it like the iPhone app (yea I said that dreaded word here) I miss being able to filter out groups and just be able to see my friends and family updates again

Its been a LONG TIME since Ive used an iJunk so I cant say that I remember the facebook app on it. What I can say is that (unfortunately) I did own a Motorola Backflip. I hated the phone, but the facebook widget on that phone was great. I havent seen it on any other phone, but would love to be able to use it on my Captivate. Does anyone know of a way?
I remember a thread on here a while ago where people were theming to get the Windows Phone 7 look. There's now a launcher on the market called Launcher 7 that does most of the work for you, you should check it out.

Definitely. If there's one thing that I'd like to see more of on the Market, it's more "alternative" launchers like this. Launcher Pro, ADW, Go, etc. all have their differences, but they're more or less the same in that they're all plays off of the whole multiple homescreen and a dock thing. It's nice to see new ideas out there. I remember a while back there was a launcher that showed all of your texts, email, facebook notifications, etc. in kind of an agenda view. It never really took off, but it's good to see devs think outside the box about the homescreen.

Because thats the core of how android to this point is intended to work. I like Launcher7, its fast, smooth and functional so I play with it here and there but the tile UI is comparatively bland and boring even with widget support (and the custom ones I've seen that arent bland and boring are WAY too busy). I'm gonna put it on my wifes phone since she'll love the big ass simple tiles concept.

without using custom images those 2x1 and 1x1 tiles (and the headphone/camera images) are all there is. I'm not going to spend anytime importing images because I like my android phone as an android phone and it wont get any use anyway. I was basically showing how the UI looks unmolested.

Good find! THNX
Awesome find! Thanks for posting!
I am loving TweetComb but having both is definitely....WINNING!
been waiting for this for a while, great update by levelup
this puts TweetComb into serious catch-up mode

No problem here, logged in and validated account fine. Nice update
Just started using it and looks great so far. Excited to see what seesmic does as it is my default client of choice on my phone. Androidcentral.com had a preview of it and looks to be very similar to plume
great find, finally a decent scrollable twitter widget for my xoom.
I just knew plume would nail it. Love it on my phone, have been tolerating it on my xoom before now. Now my tablet experience is 1 major step closer to complete.
They did a great job with this. I Love it on my evo as well
I like Plume overall but for some reason it doesn't refresh like it is supposed to. I have it set to refresh every 30 minutes and sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Dang, I've always loved Touiteur. Excited to try this!

IMO this beta of plume just set the standard for twitter clients for honeycomb. Its the first in its class. It not only has a beautiful functional interface but it also has a great set of functional widgets. It's too bad for tweetcomb because that developer had the ability to create one of the best twitter clients for honeycomb but he lacked a widget. With one beta from levelupstudios they have pretty much won the battle.
Great job levelupstudios.
they literally lifted up one leg and pissed on EVERY twitter app out there. I am pissed i bought tweetcomb now. FML

+1. I bought Tweetcomb in the morning after reading Droidlife's review, then later that same day found out about the plume beta. I'm also pissed they changed the app return policy to 15 minutes, but that's another beast.......

What I did was, uninstall ALL versions of the application (even the premium key apk), reboot your tablet, then install the Beta, open it, login. Then re-download the premium key from the market and it will work..
I have been using it since then. Works like a charm. Widget is perfect too.
Plume Update in market! HC Support.
I guess it is out of beta.
What's New
What's in this version:
2.5
Honeycomb tablet support with optimized interface, black theme, lot of small improvements and bugfixes, hide avatars, saved searches
2.51
Lot of bugfixes
Hey the widget scrolls and doesn't freeze on me anymore. I'm happy

Just a suggestion, but the new Gmail and Google Calendar themes are a beautiful example of clear styling and simplicity. Very much like the original Picasa themes, actually, but have never seen anything like it on Android.
This is obviously a suggestion for a system-wide Android theme that looks like Google+ (ie, the clarity, soft greys, and clear blocks of colour), not an attempt to theme Google+ itself...
Would do it myself but can only draw stick people, and badly at that!
