I was searching and here kernel/rom section there is alot what choose, alot of comments, but nothing good didnt noticed only neon i think. but i want more recomendations from users. You think i only asking and nothing doing...

GALAXIAN kernel for battery life
Galaxian kernel is very popular with the i9000 users. There is two versions gt and EE. Gt is for a faster phone and EE is for better battery life, would recommend it, it also supports lag fix, voodoo and its very stable.
hope i helped
try it and tell me if its better than your current kernel
more info and download from here :

You can always go back to stock...
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium

stock kernel does't have much features like overclocking and other features.

ROTFL.... what stops you from TRYING each of it? Flashing kernel is 5 minutes long...

Here is a link by krarvind for CM7/MIUI kernels
Alternatively , You may try this Rom - MIUI 1.10.8: Nothing Fancy DIY I get around 30-40% remaining after above medium use every day, Oced at 1.3Ghz. No FCs ever and very smooth. Its a non wipe, just format system, wipe cache & Dalvik cache and flash this, you will not lose any data or apps. But do a nandroid backup beforehand, just to be safe . Also its got Voodoo color.
PS : Try this ThunderBolt! v1.3 CWM script with this rom. It markedly improved my phones performance.
Try it and let me know

What ROM would you recommend for my sister?

Hey x8 XDA'ers.
First of all, I'm sorry for asking this kind of question, but Please bear with me man.
I'm looking for a good STABLE rom with stable battery life, good performance etc, for my sister. She's tired of hers Xperia X8 since it feels slow and react so damn slow.
I'm a SGSII user myself, so I dont know nothing about X8, but I promised her to try and improve her phone's performance so I would be grateful if you could tell me which rom's I should take a look at. Since it is my sister he knows nothing about tech-related stuff, so the rom needs to be stable and good for daily usage, since if anything goes wrong she have no clue what to do
I know XDA hate questions like "what is the best rom etc..", but I'm just asking for your personal experiences with the different rom and what you would recommend for this kind of usage
Thank you XDA!
if she doesn't need a lot of features and she's okay with eclair, i'd say stick with stock. or go for any of the gingerbread roms. all of them work great especially gingerdx and minicm7. plus if you install a custom kernel and overclock it slightly, performance would improve drastically. and if you want to go for ics, try minicm9 or isdx. h
MiniCM7 + nAa kernel is the most stable Rom out there.
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
Well, if you want android 2.3 then choose between gingerDX or MiniCM7.
If android 4.0 then MiniCM9.
well, if its about your sister i can tell that she dont need high performance, but an improvement is nessecery.....and this rom must have and some beautiful icons?! am i wrong to somewhere?...no i am not!hahaha:laugh:
first to do, download x8toolbox(here), root, install busybox, install cwm, download gingerdx(here), put it in your sd card, reboot to cwm, full wipe-wipe dalvik, go to "install zip from sd", find the rom you download and wait until its finish, reboot, enjoy!
(i dont thing your sister needs a custom kernel, with this rom she will not have any problem and its a tone more awesome from eclair, so see will be happy)
this is all.
1. Pls use search next time.
2. Is the phone already rooted? Cwm installed? You may want to check our stickies for that.
3. I'm assuming your sis is on stock kernel (locked bootloader). If it's unlocked then that's a whole new ballgame.
Here are some you ay wanna check out:
1. Froyo roms are supposedly faster than gb roms (never tried though, so i can't elaborate on the features)
2. The really popular GingerDX. Smooth, fast, stable, and lots of features.
3. LinuxLx's LinuXperia. Cm 7.1. Great 2d/3d scores (dev is a girl so the appearance may be to your sister's liking)
4. Xperiafan's RCI V4. Haven't used it much but has good reviews.
Hope that helps.

First of all, thank you so much for all those fast answers! Thank you!!
#2
She mainly wants better reaction/performance but an upgrade to Gingerbread or ICS would be great as well. I don't know if it would be good for the performance or not tho.
Thanks, I think I will check out Gingerdx, isdx and miniCM9. I think I'll overclock abit, but I still want it to be 100% stable, how much can I overclock, without destroying the battery life and making it unstable?
#3
Thanks for your opinion, will take it into account.
#4
Uhm, #2 mentioned isdx, what do you say about that?
#5
Hah! yeah probably
afaik ICS has beautiful icons, but maybe gingerdx has as well?
As mentioned, I'd like to overclock abit to increase the performance, so I bet a custom kernel would be good. What would recommend?
and thanks for the quick tutorial, I do know how to root'n'flash tho, since I've done it a ton of time on several other devices
#6
Sorry, I tried to make a quick search in the x8 forums, but I couldnt find a thread about recommended roms for girls
Most ppl recommend GingerDX, so I will probably check that out as well as MiniCM9, since ICS would perhaps be great (If it is stable tho)
She isnt going to play games I can tell for sure, so 3d score doesnt matter I guess. But thanks, will check it out, since it is a girl-made ROM
Amazing fast answers, thanks man! I appreciate any feedback <3
Ics aint stable . I dont reccomand for daily use man. GingerDX or MiniCM7 are just perfect.
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
GDX v22 or VivoPrime or miniCM7!
Froyo pro 2.2.9 very fast...long battery..but low version.. try this...will happy..believe me just try this...for me unbelievelable...good.

ok, first of all take out the battery andd look at the back sticker on the phone(on the phone!!!!!!!!), there will be a number like this 10wxx, 11wxx or 12wxx if it is 11w29+ just forget about unlocking bootloader,so you can not flash custom kernel, if it is 11w29- then look this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24630104&postcount=2 there you will find the links for guides about unlocking bootloader.
have fun!
If you unlock your bootloader and install a custom kernel (Alfs v8a CM7) I'd try GingerZaraki..
Best rom on this forum IMO..

Alfs because team GDX making Alfs kernel too!
MiniCm 7 With Hello Kitty CM7 THEME!
just try Kuyadroid
Kuyadroid is most stable rom,its on stock kernel so you dont need to unlock bootloader !! Its so easy to installing, just need rooted and xrecovery !!
Thanks, I think I have decided to go for GDX with alfs then more opinions are welcomed!
//SGSII\\
Okay, I have a few final questions.
The script to root x8 require ADB, so I need to install that again (just reinstalled windows), was so complicated.
Isnt SuperOneClick easier? ( This method -> http://www.xperia-x8.com/tutorial-how-to-root-sony-ericsson-xperia-x8/ )
How much is completely SAFE to overclock the x8 with alfs kernel and GDX rom?
About 760 mhz..dont set it on boot.
I dont recommend oc.shorter batery life.

your phone will get hot as the cores process heafty info. As said above its quite normal and nothing to worry about. Unless of course you actually mean 'overheating' like you are getting reboots and FC all the time?? If not then its not OVER heating its just getting hot.
Try to change your kernel. I see that you are still using stock kernel.
The best kernel for my device last time I tried to reduce the heat is speedmod. Though you may choose other kernels which suit your device more.
But if you decide to flash any kernel, read the thread you are visiting first carefully before proceeding. All the OP has stated very clear on how to flash the kernel.
Good luck!
edit :
but once again, as what others say... heating in android when you are using for heavy games, is normal.
but when surfing, should not be as hot as playing heavy games.
Sent from the corner of this rounded earth.
I'm on CM9, I just underclock to 1000Mhz and set it to performance so it's at 1000Mhz all the time while playing. Works fine for the games I play. Don't try playing while charging, it gets insanely hot.
You can install any app that would monitor your motherboard temp (or battery temp actually? I notice that they are always the same temp)
Anyways, I use Cool Tool from the android market..
I just noticed that my note reaches ~54-55 degrees celcius when I play GTA III + charger plugged in.. normal operating temp of my note is ~38 degrees..
I know its kinda hot to the touch but I'm confident because I know from my background in electronics that the components are designed to withstand temps higher than that.. :highfive:

it is normal for the phone to get heated up when playing games that uses the full power of the CPU/GPU. Only if you have your phone heating up under normal use, you need to worry. I guess all phones get heated up when playing MC3 or Asphalt. Correct me if I'm wrong.
yes i agree that while playing games note,s area near camera becomes hot and i think it is normal ! but what about the screen my notes screen also becomes extreme hot and it is very hard to play on a hot screen ! Which kernel will fix this problem ? if i flashed a speed mod kernel then how can i come back again on my stock kernel ?

I would agree with the previous posts. If your Note is overheating playing Angry Birds or Chess then there is a problem, but not if you are playing more data intensive games. it's dual core running at 1.4 so it should deal with most things you throw at it.
If you are using seriously data intensive games / apps, you could try a kernel which can be overclocked to 1.6 (Hydracore Extreme is an example). You will find it on Chasmodo's EXCELLENT Kernel Repository. Download the kernel, reboot to Recovery and flash the zip file.
Download the No Frills CPU app from Play Store and you can set the CPU to 1.6. Personally, I cant think of many reasons why you would need that but the option is there.
I hope this helps. Please hit THANKS if it did.

I don't think there is such a thing as a "best kernel", it's really a matter of personal choice. Speedmod, Franco, Chainfire and Hydracore are all excellent on Stock based ROMs, depending on your personal preference. I would recommend flashing each one, see how it suits your own requirements and then try another. Hydracore is accepted by many as the "Universal Kernel" so why not try that one first then gauge the others? You will have a wider selection of Governors and Schedulers to "tweak" the kernel according to yur preference. Personally, Hydracore underclocked to 1000, on Wheatley Governor gives me the best performance and battery for my needs. Ultimately each person will have different uses and therefore different preferences.
I hope this helps. Please hit THANKS if it did.

Abyss is a Gingerbread kernel so not compatible with ICS or JB ROMS. I don't believe there is such a thing as a "one size fits all" solution. I haven't found any kernels to be "battery killer". Screen, GPS, 3G and WiFi kill the battery.
The joy of 'droid is the customization.

Please read the Kernel Repository to make sure you are comfortable with what you are doing. Hyrdracore is a Safe kernel, I would recommend trying the Standard version first (not the Extreme version). As always, you flash at your own risk. Please read before you flash.

P.S. : I have also tried the stock! It is not at all good! :silly:

ICS or one of the custom JB (leaks based)? I prefer TW roms, dont like CM (due to lack of features)
TW ICS - custom: CleaNote, Alliance ICS final; stock: XXLRT (or DDLR9 is the same but for india),
TW JB leaks - My top 3 are: Alliance xxlsc, BurtRom and GloryRom
I use Alliance xxlsc since it is realeased and for me it is the best one (it requires minimal effort to adjust it for yourself, but when its done, it is just amazing). Other two are also great roms, but i like to use rom on 240dpi, and robbie has realease that mod, so i am sticked with alliance
Important tip before/after flashing new rom:
Flash safe kernel, be sure to wipe cache, dalvik, data, then go to advanced and format: cache, system, data, preload , then flash your rom.
When you flashed new rom, dont install thousand apps (because that some of the apps will for sure cause the wakelocks and battery drain)
That is pretty much it, I always go with these steps and never have any problems with any rom, everything always work as it suppose to work. For me choosing the rom is only matter of personal taste
hope that helped

[Q] Best ROM/kernel for gaming

Hey guys, i'm newbie to these parts. I have galaxy not N7000 stock, but the graphics quality on Real Racing 3 sucks. AND it's a bit laggy (maybe 18fps or so) so what's the best ROM/Kernel to use?
I'm on Gingerbread 2.3.6.
And i want ROM that have working camera and Wifi..
Battery consumption? As long as it's the same as default, i'm fine
Thank you so much

Hey Bro, I would advice you first update your device to Jelly bean.. it increases your performance.. maybe you should try the stock rom first which you can get from sammobile.com, and then if it still doesn't work then try XXLT6 rom by Thaidai. That's the perfect one.
Hit THANKS if I helped

Yes buddy it is.. you get a lot of fluidity...
a performance boost too..
if you want I am providing you the link where you can update your note.. the full procedure..
http://techtactics-by-rbhk.blogspot.in/ use this blog..
and try it once..
Thanks
I reply not only because of naming my XXLT6.
XXLT6 is removed from my list of Roms, so you will not find it (it only made problems for me and other members).
And if you want to try to upgrade to JB you are at the right place here in XDA - no need to switch to other websites.
Use Dr. Ketan's standard thread for updating your Rom with one of the available JB stock Roms.
Or switch to a Custom Rom of the "color and taste" you like. Look in to the two development forums here and always follow the installation instruction of the specific Rom.
You'll get some nice features with JB (many of them I personally do not use).
But: I'm not convinced that you get increased performance with JB, I still think GB is the one to choose.
But 2: you have to check and compare this yourself.
But 3: I do not talk about battery life. My only answer to a reduced time of battery life is always: buy a new one.
If your device is too slow you could also try with a factory reset in GB and start with a clean device (after saving all your important data).
Well thank you very much.. i'm looking for the Fastest ROM for Gaming, f**k the colours, i'd rather play Windows 2000 with GTX titan card, rather than windows 8 with bad graphic card. I hope you get my point
So, any suggestions which ROM has the fastest performance?

Hey Bro, I would advice you first update your device to Jelly bean.. it increases your performance.. maybe you should try the stock rom first which you can get from sammobile.com, and then if it still doesn't work then try XXLT6 rom by Thaidai. That's the perfect one.
Hit THANKS if I helped

Hey, believe me, dont try to upgrade JB on gaknote, its look like a sht, i was on that. It make a laggy-performance in all sides, gaming, graphics, tasking, etc. Keep your galnote running with ICS at max. I really so regret with a JB upgrade right now.

Basebands Reviews

I made this thread so users who tested basebands to provide some useful reviews (battery backup, performance, bloatware, etc) for every user who want to know which baseband, new or old, has what he`s looking for or the baseband just came up and it`s new and he wants to know about it.
I tested MBM-XXLQI from Macedonia recently and all I have to say it brings nothing new about battery backup on the contrary it seems worse than DDULP8 from India or XXLQG-ITV from Italy, and in addition it has a lot more bloatware too.
I am going to test the new VSLPA from Argentina(moviestar) to see what it brings new as it has the latest build date and changelist, and I`ll provide a review in a day or two. You are free to do the same as we may have different opinions.
I am using VSLPA from Argentina from 1 day now and I have to say it provides the best battery backup till now, only 1% consumed over the night.
About performance, it`s pretty much like the other firmwares, tough i notice that lag is slightly reduced in this one or it may be placebo effect, don`t know yet.
Go try it yourself and report back to see if you have a different opinion from mine
I take my words back VSLPA is the best build by samsung for our device since they released Jb for us. I rooted, flashed cocore8.2, removed some bloats, instaled no-frills, set pegasusq+sio, powersave and I drained the battery till it shut down. After I let it charge full I powered it up and I couldnt believe my eyes how fast it was and still is, this build is LAG FREE, the dial pad opens in instant just like cyanogenmod. At first I tought that maybe it's just an one time event but not it still does that and is insanely fast, stable, smooth maybe then most of custom too (no offense to any dev). I know it is hard to believe but please try it for yourself and you'll be surprised.
I'll provide the list of bloats removed when I have time if it is of any use
Sry for the way I express myself but english is not my native language
Goodluck and don't think about it just flash it and see for yourself

I did. I tried it after a reboot too and I also it is ok with heaving gaming too. I tried asphalt 8 with interactive+sio and with powersaving and everything was smooth.
If you don't believe me give it a go and try it yourself

This is as if you were explaining you saw a ghost.
Are you sure about this? Cause I heard similar things for previous FWs before, even though they all lagged like hell.
And 7 hours ago you were saying the opposite, how's that possible? What exactly fixed it, when it was the same when you first tried it?
Anyways I'm on GB now, got burned once and now I want to be sure if it's really lag free before I upgrade.
in sammobile, some of the firmwares are made for some particular carriers. Is it safe to flash that carrier basrd firmwires??

If your device is network free(meaning that another carrier sym is working) you can flash any firmware you want for our device with odin. Juat download it from samsung-updates, unrar it, put the tar file in pda section of odin and hi start.

@TheBeast I told you all the steps I have made. I don't think it's so hard so you can't flash it yourself

Upgrading isn't hard. Downgrading is a pain in the ass.

First of all GB and JB are different in every aspect so you can`t compare one to the other. First time it was just after I flashed it then I did all the things I said ( root, flash cocore kernel, changed governors and I/O etc. ) and after that i used it till it shut down and then while it was turned off I let it full charge, after that i booted into recovery wiped cache and dalvik cache and reboot and that was all.
But you should never expect that JB to be like GB.
If you don`t like stock i suggest you to upgrade from gb to jb then flash CM 10.1 from Team Canjica or if you want stock based Roms try Harshjelly or SamiOS.
Before you do all the things read some guide about how to flash with odin, how to root jb shaan`s guide and some more if needed.
If you do some research before you should not have problems
Goodluck

Why would you want to downgrade? First read guide about Odin and then go and read Harshjelly thread first then flash his rom and from there on should be easier to learn about governors,I/O schedulers, kernel etc. After you think you have a good knowledge base and you`re still not happy with you`re android you can move on to CyanogenMod 10.1 of Team Canjica(19.10 nightly is the most stable version).

Thanks, but been there, done that. All I'm saying is that I doubt it's lag free, I did try various firmwares, kernels and stuff but 5 sec delay when opening apps and lag in games, videos, UI is so bad that it's unbearable. That's why I had to downgrade, which is a much complicated process which frankly I don't want to repeat. That's why I want to make sure the new firmware is lag and delay free before I upgrade again.
And I'm pretty sure JB isn't supposed to be that bad, despite the fact that S Advance isn't much of a phone.

In cyanogenmod you wont encounter any kind of lag. So you can flash VSLPA via odin then flash cwm temporary make a backup then root it play with it a day or two and see how it goes and if you dont like it restore from backup then flash cyanogendmod 10.1 and i guarantee that you wont encounter any kind of lag there.
And btw id you want to thank me for any help just hit Thanks button and I`ll know
