Best Mango rom for battery life? - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running DeepShining Mango and the battery life is great but I was wondering if there was something better.
If there are any Nodo roms with great battery life, please list those as well.
Thanks!

hadn't done any comparisons...
but i have some power management features enabled on intrinsicROM.
also, how long as it been since you flashed?
imo, usually takes about a week for the battery to work 'normally' after a flash.

[Q] best rom for only phone usage

Hi guys, I got this phone for free with bell mobility as my 2nd phone for my business line. I'm going to be using this phone only to make phone calls. No internet, ever. No wifi, maybe some bluetooth once in a while. No games, no apps. I have a Galaxy nexus for that.
Which rom would be the best for good battery life?
Thanks guys
Talking about the battery life and from personal experience,I would suggest using MIUI rom. The battery lasts for at least 2-3 days(for me) with normal use(wifi, music etc),so should go a far way if only used for calls.
Alternatively, if you prefer Sense UI,I've heard good things about the battery life of Android Revolution HD.
Finally,it's always best to just test several roms yourself in real life situations for several days, and then picking the rom which suits you best.
after playing with it a bit I'm not a big fan of sense...
I'll give miui a try, thanks

+ 1 use tiamat uv to - 50 all values
+1 for miui. might just be in my head, but seems to be even more battery efficient than cm7.

What version of MIUI do you use? There are so many I was going to wait for the updated galnetmiui ics one.
I would take the CM7 Nightly#146 and edit the .zip file and remove all the .apk files from system/app that you don't need.
That will give you a very light ROM.

[Q] [SOLVED] High battery drain from 100%, low from less

I find this really weird ....
Basically, battery drains REALLY fast from 100%. After a day off charge (around 8/ 9 hours away from home) it's dropped significantly. This amounts to about...
100% - 70/ 80% in morning from about 20 mins web browsing on wifi. After having it off, in my pocket doing nothing other than (supposedly) sleeping, battery life has dropped way below 20% (it varies). I started charging it after getting home though, but had to leave with it only at 33%. That was at about 6:30. It is still at 33% now .
What the fudge is happening? In the time from being at 30% I even texted and made calls... I even kept my phone on previously at 122- 480MHz SmartassV2 but it was running between 122- 614MHz SmartassV2 from when it was 33% ?
I know there are tons of threads about battery life, but this just stuns me. Please help Main Q: What is happening + how do I fix it :cyclops:
SOLVED: After using LMCFroyo I have concluded that the problem is that Gingerbread ROMs are the cause of fast battery drain for our G1s..... basically stick to Froyo
i'd say u need a battery replacement...
same thing happened to my G1 sometime ago...
battery behavior was insanely ridiculous... unless i'd keep it on charge, it'd shut down in say 5 mins of usage!
get a new battery... they are like maybe 10$ or under...
I think its down to a number of things, but mainly the rom your on. I just tried a gb rom, finding battery drained in 6 hours. Back with lmc froyo now, and back to normal battery drain, with battery draining in 24 hours at least.

I was using tvall's CM7, I'm trying GinSense atm. I flashed LMCFroyo, but I missed all the advanced CM options... could give Biffmod a go I suppose. Thanks anyway.

I tried biffmod but can't remember how the battery behaved i'm afraid.I find lmcfroyo has a nice balance of speed, reliability and battery life. Mine was just a standard install.

hmmm... I still don't think I could live without any advanced options, so I thin kI'd prefer a CM based ROM. I'll see how GinSense performs, but it sounds as though Gingerbread is the problem.
Update: I've narrowed it down to either Biffmod or Froyo by Laszlo (or one of the few variants of this).... I'm also thinking of Dreamteam Froyo because I like tvall's stuff....but if LMC is really that good I reckon I could hold on till ryree0 releases the latest update which he just posted about, plus it's actually up to date and supported.... so what do you guys think?
Personally I find lmcfroyo better than biffmod and fbl, but to be honest battery life and reliability are most important to me. I'd give it a try before any update, as it works fine, plus you'd notice the improvements when there's an update.
Edit: If you do go for fbl I recommend icsfbl, as in my sig. Its a nice blend of looks and fbl speed.

Thanks I'l give LMC another go and stick to it... so the general concencus (that looks wrong whichever way I spell it) is that new Froyo builds are better than old abandoned ones that were good in their time? Oh yeah, and when you say "battery life and reliability" are more important to you, does that mean you think Biffmod + co. are faster but not as good in other aspects? lol, this has turned into a Froyo discussion thread (sorry)

Yeah, i think you summed up pretty well! I can't believe the battery life with lmc actually - thinking about it that's what i like about it the most! I probably have the most basic and miminalistic set up going, so it should work as well for you. Removing hotmail from all my devices also helped i think, but thats just another issue in my quest for improved battery life!

One last q (sorry)
Thanks everyone for all your help, I've just got one last question: I'm thinking of still trying a different Froyo build based on CM, just for comparison, so would you recommend Biffmod or Froyo by Laszlo.... I think the latter is more up to date, but it doesn's specifiy which version it is... thanks for all your help to my problem anyway

U will find 1.1 on page 51 if I remember correctly. If not i just reposted it at the end of the thread replying to someone.

Do you know the term "Your Mileage may vary?"
It applies to flashing anything...only you can determine how battery life affects you and how YOU use your phone..an errant app can screw your phone up as far as battery life and speed, as can a bad flash (dirty vs clean)...so....it is dependent on signal, use, apps, syncs, phone imperfections, and many other factors. Just read through the development threads and you will see many users report many different experiences...if there was a firm formula then every device would have a BEST ROM...which they don't and just for this reason.
Best bet is wipe the phone, clean flash your choice, try it for a couple of days to let it settle, then start adding back apps you use all the time.
Happy flashing!
Might try 1.1

Would Custom ROMs Improve Battery Life?

Like the title says, does a custom ROM improve battery life compared to stock? The "Android OS" has been taking up more percentage of battery than the screen!! (33% whereas my Screen is only 27%)
PS: I'm planning to go for CyanogenMod 5.1.1 or Carbon 5.1.1

Go to virginity's ROM thread & read the features. It said "amazing battery life", blah, blah, blah... Too many advantages & mainly the battery life & customization. It's what you're looking for, right!!? Anyway it seems you're asking which is the best ROM. Read the XDA rules first please, it's not allowed to ask that. You must try them & decide which ROM is the best for your needs. Have fun

Yes. That's posible if the developer adding some tweak when build that's ROM
No custom rom can account for bad use.
If you load tons of apps syncing and waking the system "gona have a bad time"
Your Screen and 3G radio are the biggest pigs.

what happened to the SOT / battery tips thread!?

This was an incredibly useful resource, with loads of tips on improving battery life but it's gone Anyone got any ideas where?
I'm not very happy with my battery life at the moment, and i'm considering rooting to save battery through some of the root options. Do you think it's worth rooting now, I see there are a few new kernels available, or should I wait for a custom rom to become available.
I've not had a phone before where custom roms aren't available but I see nothing yet for Mi9.
Grateful for your advice.
Cheers

Unfortunately the xda member who created that thread has since left, presumably taking it with them!
I would like to see a guide for a better SOT
I've only just rooted to get L Speed working but it's been on my last three devices with the Battery profile. Between that, Greenify and a quick screen timeout you should be looking at well over a day between charges. Invariably, the screen is always the biggest culprit, also consider auto brightness turned off with a low constant brightness too..
I'll start measuring my SOT now I'm on a stable rooted ROM..
