Can't get rsd lite to install on my computer. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Follow the instructions to the letter and nothing.
I was able to use Psouza unbrick script and it got my phone up and running. Thank you very much for your reply though.

use x + power button and go to android recovery
1. press x first then power button
2. when the m logo shows let go the power button but keep pressing the x
3. when triangle shows, press volume up and down at the same time
then the screen will show android system recovery
do a wipe cache first then wipe data/factory reset
then reboot your phone..
if this doesn't work, sbf is the only choice left as far as i know of

Even if RSD lite 5.5 is usually working even on win vista and seven X64, XP is still the better choice to flash phones.
Use it, even virtualized.
I was able to get it running again using the Psouza script. Thank you guys. I keep all that in mind if it happens again.

Is there another easy way to permanet root it, please?

Hello,
I saw the VR with AOR procedure.
Thank you very much.
How would one go about rooting a Telus Milestone with a VR? Which VR do you choose?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12271864&postcount=3
I just did this yesterday to get the telus update off my phone.
The vr sbf is tiny.
I am trying to start the SBF using RSD Lite, but when I navigate to the SBF file and have my phone plugged in, the "start" button is greyed out. I have no way to click on it.
I installed the Motorola Mobile Drivers v4.9 (64-bit Windows) and RSD Lite v4.6.
Help please!
does it show the phone as connected?
If not, set the usb mode to memory card access or portal tools

Power off phone. Press dial pad up key + power button and release. You will be in bootloader mode. Plug in your phone. rsdlite should recognise your phone. Flash the VR.
Once the phone starts rebooting, before it shows the M logo, press and hold the "x" button for a few seconds and release. It should take you into recovery mode. Run AOR and using console type " rm -f /system/etc/install-recovery.sh " ( without the quotes ).
You can root using phone using the option in AOR.
I ended up rooting with Universal Androot. It seemed to work but I can't get to flashing FroyoMod, I explained it more in detail here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011153
If anybody could help me out on that, it would be great!
EDIT: I guess I could also just unroot with Universal androot and try the other methods you've suggested, sileshn?

You got the EOCD error because VR was not flashed. Root is not required for flashing froyoMOD or CM7. VR is the one that's needed. The above method will work for sure.

Try renaming the sbf to something shorter, like VR_90.78.sbf and try.
Alright so I was able to start it but it immediately came up with this error: "Failed flashing process. (0x7100); phone connected."
My bootloader is 90.78, so that SBF should work, right?

It seems to have worked! I'm on the Droid boot animation, not sure how long it should be taking.
EDIT: It's been about 5 minutes that it's stuck on the droid boot animation, is this a bootloop? Did I mess something up? The only thing I did not do was create a nandroid backup, but that shouldn't affect the update, no?

Which animation is it. Just the word Android and thats it? If it's that one, it's hard to tell if it's bootlooping but you would see it flicker if it is.
I got past the Motorola M logo, but now it's been at least 10 minutes that it's stuck on an Android logo, and a green circle around him.
I also cannot turn off the phone by holding the power button.
I am new to the Revolution and just bought a used one. When the phone boots up is there anyway to boot directly into recovery. I do have the revo tools and can get into recovery from the running phone. I just worry I may accidentally muck thing up and will need to boot into recovery to restore my phone from a backup. But not sure if it is possible to boot directly into recovery. I have searched the net but not having much luck.
Thanks
You are rooted right? If rooted just put gingervolt on and it's in the power menu. On another note turn off then turn back on hold power button and volume down through lg logo. Screen will come up that says to erase data click confirm by the power button and it will go into cwm. It won't actually erase the data.

To boot directly into cwm from and off phone just hold down power and volume down. Then press power twice to confirm the wipe. It won't wipe anything. It just pushes you into cwm

Also had a question about this. I used mt's all in one batch to root and install cwm, but I have no revotoolkit in my appdrawer? Is there a way to tell I actually have cwm without risking erasing my data on the phone by booting into it?
Mt's all in one is not Revo Toolkit which is why you don't see it. Everything you need to root or unroot is in the all in one package. If you used the all in one then you have CWM. Long press power button and choose recovery if you are using GingerVolt 1.3.

Well I decided to call Google about the boot loader recovery not working as it should. I was hoping this call would help them to work on another update but they say that's the way its supposed to work. Here's the email Instructions:
1. Power down your device
2. Press and hold both volume keys and the power button to enter
Bootloader mode
3. Press the volume keys to cycle to the Recovery mode option
4. Press the power button to select Recovery mode
5. From the Recovery mode screen, press and hold the Power button then
press the Volume up button.
6. Use the volume buttons to select wipe data/factory reset.
7. Select Yes -- delete all user data.
8. The factory data reset process will now start. Once its finished,
select 'Reboot system now.'
The only option we have in the new recovery is to wipe data. Maybe for those having problems accessing twrp or cwm will be able to a access it with step 5. I don't know haven't rooted yet. So I decided to ask about nvflash and they said they're not going to release any nvflash tools or files.
um, yup. thats how stock bootloader and stock recovery work. lol
whats the issue? if your not even rooted, you wouldn't even know if you have an issue or not with the new bootloader.
Are you saying that you can't flash a different recovery? Or that when you do you still get the same stock recovery? I'm not quite sure what the issue is here, because that is exactly how the stock bootloader, and recovery are supposed to work.
Are you making sure to unlock fastboot before trying to flash recovery. I don't recall seeing or hearing anyone say anything about not being able to get to clockwork mod once its installed.

No. I saw people posting they couldn't get go cwm and could only see the red exclamation point. And I was just saying maybe after choosing recovery then holding volume up and power it would then go to cWm or twrp. I was hoping for someone to try it who is still on 3.41 Recovery. A lot of people downgraded back to 3.39 or whatever version it was

I can confirm that to get in to the stock recovery you hold down 'power' and then tap 'vol up'.
At present I am running the latest CWM touch recovery. This boots straight into it from the bootloader without any extra button presses.
My personal preference to go into CWM is from either QuickBoot or ROM Manager.

When I first flashed TWRP onto my Nexus 7 after that official 4.1.2 OTA update, I wasn't able to boot into it. I then flashed it again via fastboot, and then booted the TWRP image that was on my computer, and then TWRP loaded.
I believe TWRP does work normally now as well (I can boot into it and reboot into it).

Well if I was you I'd just use mskips toolkit, its absolutely epic it'll save you a lot of farting around. I take it that your fully updated? ( Not that it matters) You seem to know and understand your way around adb so just go for it and enjoy.

going to recovery from bootloader works fine after 3.41.....wat r u talkin abt? (i m stock rooted+twrp)
oh yea...u hav 2 remove that recovery stock.p file thingy first.
There are plenty of people that are having issues with recovery on 3.41 bootloader.... Its confirmed some have it some don't.
The issue is that with 3.41 bootloader on some Nexus 7 Devices a custom recovery is unbootable no matter how you try, every time it will try to load recovery and fail at a black screen then reboot into the OS. It does not matter how you try from ADB reboot to recovery or from bootloader with USB attached or not.

In your system folder there's a file called 'recovery-from-boot.p'
Go into a file manager with w/r access and rename it ' recovery-from-boot.p.bak'
When the system boots it reads that file and resets the recovery to stock, by changing the name you remove the problem.

just safestrap and give slot1 all the free space on the inernal memory.. its like 1gb system 3gb data
that should give you plenty of space for apps and just use an sd card for storage..
that way you can reset, reflash, do pretty much anything you want to the system on slot1 and not mess up anything.
So to clarify...I can just factory reset and still retain root?

If anyone is worried, just install safestrap, and make sure you download the flashable zip from the superuser site. If you lose root, you won't, but if, just flash the superuser zip.

Ok so it is repairable, i have read a little about RSDlite and what i get is this (correct me if am wrong):
1. Get RSD Lite 6.14 (recommended version) for Windows only.
2. Get the stock firmware file, make sure you pick the latest ICS firmware file here (7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml.zip) for AT&T.
3. After successfully downloaded, extract the zip file. And edit the 7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml file using notepad, and then remove 2 lines with getvar.step operation=”getvar” var=”max-download-size”
4. Open RSD Lite, open the XML file that you have edited before.
5. Turn off your phone, and then enter the Boot Mode Selection Menu by press and hold the following keys together (Volume Up+Volume Down+Power). Using vol down, scroll to AP Fastboot menu, and then vol up to select it.
6. Connect Atrix HD to PC via USB, your phone will be recognized by RSD Lite as MB886.
7. Now it’s time to hit the Start button, and please wait for about 10-25 minutes.
8. Once the flash process done, your device will reboot. Your Motorola Atrix HD (MB886) should restore to stock and unroot now.
