Tried to do install (this - tried to link but new members cannot post links; it's SelfKANG7 for the Optimus Black) to my phone tonight, and got all the way to the last couple of steps (flashing ROM and rebooting) without any problems. After installing from zip and rebooting my phone won't move past the CyanogenMod initialisation screeen (blue droid on a skateboard, with a rotating arrow) - hitting the buttons doesn't help, and the only thing I can do to make it stop is to remove the battery.
Has anyone else encountered this problem, or does anyone know how I can restore my phone (made a Nandroid back-up before doing this)? Thanks in advance (and I hope this hasn't been asked already)!
you just pop the battery out when it stuck?
as far as i know, bootloop means stuck on LG screen not Boot screen
you just have to wait a little longer when do a fresh flash
and if it is a bootloop, try the unbrick method that already posted here

To save time, you can use "adb reboot recovery" and either flash SK7 again (wipe everything) or restore your backup. ADB works while in bootloop.

Hey guys i don't know if anyone of you had the same issue but any info/help could be helpful.
I used to flash my N1 A LOT! but today i have this strange issue. I wiped and flashed rodriguezstyle again for a clean start, but i only got the colorful X with the unlocked symbol at the bottom and then just a black screen. i thought I've done something wrong and flashed again, but with the same results.
i changed my sd and downloaded again the rom but still no luck, did a nandroid restore and the phone was working properly. then i got a bit frustrated. downloaded 2-3 more roms but the result was the same.
i read somewhere that flashing with battery <50% may cause some errors so left the phone off to fully charge and tried again... no luck
then i remembered i upgraded the radio and i downgraded it to the old one, but still the same results and nandroid doesn't work... jeeeesh... back to the new radio and to my nandroid, but its no fun owning a smart-phone if you cannot flash it.
anyone with the same issue or any helpful tips/instructions?
Try this:
When the phone hangs at boot, reboot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik-cache and reboot from recovery. Does that work?
If not, you'll need to logcat the boot process and post the log somewhere for us to have a look at.
So, assuming adb is working on your computer, plug in via usb, use adb logcat > output.log and reboot the phone. Continue logging for about 60 seconds after the phone stops.
Post the log to www.pastebin.com and then link back here.
hmmmm ok i will post results in abt an hour. thanx!
hmmmm i think i sorted it out... reflashed recovery. propably i messed smthing in there! thanx for your effort!
Hello everyone!
Weird problem here, too.
I was backing up my SD card in view of a format/cleanup....and when I went to boot into recovery, my N1 was stuck on the black screen with the white letters at the bottom "Build : RA-nexus-v1.7.0.1"... The phone actually boots great, it is just not loading the recovery image. Is it possible that part of the flash got corrupted? If so, I'm pretty much done flashing my N1, right???
I'll post a log asap (if it could help any)...
Oh and btw i tried to re-flash Amon-RA's recovery twice already...Superboot said it was successful....but I doubt it...
Well try flashing stock rom! I flashed it through fastboot step by step and it worked. Also check if the rom you try to flash needs ext partition or if apps2sd is enabled

Hi all. I'm new to Android and in my ignorance i messed up my new phone.
I have a week old LG Optimus Black and i rooted it using GingerBreak and i was messing with Titanium Backup to uninstall some of the LG pre-installed bloatware.
I'm pretty sure i uninstalled something calle LGHome which after exiting TiBackup made the screen white. So if i am correct, i uninstalled the launcher and the whole menu system?
Now when i try to turn on the phone, it's stuck in LG logo and won't turn on. I am able to get it to S/W update screen by pressing volume+ and plug into USB. The LG Update software recognizes it but it says the phone is up to date so it doesn't do anything.
Could someone advise me on what to try next?
Regards.
Still looking for help.
Where could i find the original ROM for the P970?
Update:
Thanks to a fine gentleman over at android . modaco . com (apparently i can't post links) i have recovered my phone LG Optimus Black P970 to a fully working state.
Here is his post for those having similiar problems (can't post links yet, but will update when i can)
Basically, the LG Mobile update software has a built in recovery and if you put in the IMEI or serial number, it will download the original ROM and recover the phone. I just pressed down volume+ and plugged in USB and the phone goes into S/W update mode. In my case i had unintentionally uninstalled the launcher/homescreen, so when the recovery was complete, the homescreen was back to stock, but all my programs were still intact. It did not wipe the internal SD.

Which Rom did you have installed previously? I hope it was CM7, if not, READ THE discription
you can either use adb, to reboot to recovery (search adb for your mac)
via moving to the adb folder in a console/terminal
and then typing adb reboot recovery, if you had a custom ROM installed.
If not, make a virtual machine in your mac (google it) install windows and then recover it via B2C.
yes, i was using cyanogenmod 7, i used your method, but doesn't work for me, now it stuck on the welcome screen of the carrier (telcel)
im using windows right now

reboot is freezing the phone and then restoring old data and settings... HELP !!
Hi All.
I need little help with my Android phone (LG P970). The story is the phone is working as much as I can call and text but the system is not stable. It's freezing a lot and then it's trying to reboot but after every rebooting my phone freeze on LG logo... the only way to run it again is taking out the battery and then system is starting ok but it's loading with all settings and data from few days ago... I have try to flash it with Smartflash tool... whole process whas without any error then phone rebooted automaticly and I find out that after rebooting my p970 sterted with the same old and notstable rom with all the call list and messeges from few days ago.. then I tryed to do the emergency recovery of my phone with LG software. Application asked me to type the model and S/N of my phone so I did that and again the whole process of recovery was ok (with no errors)... Then the phone rebooted on the end which is normal and again started with no effect of recovery.. it was the same ZEUS 7 rom, not stable and with all the data and settings from few days ago... I decided to use Titanium Backup to uninstall all the apps and I was trying to instal ROM MANAGER and run the recovery mode but in the middle of my work the phone freez again and then rebooted and then again freeze on LG logo... I took out the battery and again turned it on and when the system was loaded I find out that all the programs which I have deleted with TITANIUM BACKUP was restored somehow... EVERY time I try to restart in normal mode, reboot in recovery mode or even after flashing system is restarting automaticaly, it freeze on LG logo and the only way to run it again is to take out this battery... then system restoring all data and settings for some reason... can you help me with that?? maybe some of you know whot software i should use to do the FULL WIPE and get rid of the old borken system?? and by the way I'm realy sorry but my language is not perfect Thanks in advance for help
I was fiddling around with ROM Manager and installed the touch recovery, when I tried to reboot into recovery my phone just hung at the LG boot screen. I am at a loss on what to do with it, is there some type of software I can download to fix this?

Well, i wanted to change my rom, CM 7.2, with DjangoManouche 1.2 and used the rom below..i backed up, and when i started flashing, it said that"this is not a ROM"..i..kind of panicked and after a minute, when i seen "nothing moves" i removed the battery. When i tried to start the phone, it only shows the LG logo..but does not boot(i waited for just 1-2 minutes..). I hope someone could help me.

I recall reading something about using NVFlash to force the stock rom on and allowing to recover from a bricking.
I'll defer to someone with experience in fixing bricked phones though.
Thank you...now..it wont even start, even when i plug-in the charger..it had pretty low battery..i am pretty ducked..
You have to reflash it with KDZ recovery method. Look up google and you'll get it working. I did this the first time too (what a bad joke to say "this is not a ROM")...
I'm sure you can still enter Cwm if you hold down volume- while pressing power button until it the Cwm menu appears.

First of all, don't worry, O2X is pretty unbrickable...at least in the level you're messing with it!
If you have recovery installed, you should be able to reboot into recovery : press and hold vol down button, then power button until you see blue halo of LG. before that, download another ROM and put it in your external SDcard. Flash that ROM.
You can also download and flash the original firmware of LG by using smartflash. You can find those in ANDROID DEVELOPMENT section!
Also check KDZ recovery!!
Thank you..it worked with recovery mode..i had back-ups. I got a bit scared because when i pressed vol_dwn+ shut down button..after i release the 2nd button, it turned off...but i menaged to make it. Again, thank you for help.

The common mistake for new people is that they restore entire nandroid backup after flashing ROM. CWM doesn't have option to backup DATA only, so you have to restore DATA from nandroid backup using Titanium Backup etc.
Try this:
1. Restore into fully functioning ROM(+data) if you don't have already
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Format /system
4. Flash new ROM
5. Clear cache and dalvik cache
6. Check if phone successfully boots
7. Flash Gapps if needed.
8. DO NOT DO ANY RESTORES AFTER STEP 1!!
9. If it doesn't work out, try another ROM. There may be some error with the file!!
Hello.
A couple of weeks ago I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick. Then I had to travel to the military and I've been here since then, and just a few days ago I downloaded Clockwork ROM Manager thing from Google Play and flashed CWM Recovery to my phone. Then I downloaded DjangoManouche Guestekernel 1.7, rebooted to recovery, wiped data and cache, proceeded to install zip from sdcard. I got to the aroma installer, chose all my settings, but the aroma installer stops and goes back to CWM Recovery after like 30 seconds. The Aroma installer is in the meantime stuck at 0%, but it does show a lot of files at the bottom it is going through. It stops at a different file everytime, stopping for 2 seconds before it goes back to CWM Recovery.
Now it refuses to reboot. It displays the LG logo shortly, screen goes black, comes light back on the screen, then goes black again, then displays LG logo for a while. Then it does that same process again. How do I fix this?
I am headed out of this camp on Monday, and I would really, really appreciate it if someone could help me get my phone working before then. I don't wanna travel completely isolated from the world in case something was to happen.
Thanks a lot if you bother to answer - and please, don't just skip this thread! This is really, really important I get working. Never had problems with this before so thought it would work, but unfortunately it didn't. Bad timing of me, I know.
Appreciate it!
Tried 2 different ROMs, one the DjangoManouche SpicaOC as it does not use Aroma installer, as well as temasek unofficial CM7 Kang.
Both get same message.
"Installing update...
E: Error in /external_sd/InsertRomName.zip

I googled this error and found I have wrong update binary. How do I change this? I want to try install CWM again but I can't do that as far as I know without USB debugging or booting into Android. What program can I use to fix this? Please guys, I really need your help...
Tried following an NVFlash tutorial I found for the Optimus 2X but not sure whether it was successful or not. I followed this guide: (I was unable to link it cause I dont have 10 posts, it's called NVFlash Setup Instructions + Drivers on Modaco.com)
When I then proceed to run the nvflash.exe I get a cmd window pop up with some text for a 1/100th of a second, rendering me unable to read it. Tried print screening it but with no luck. How do I get this to stay for a little longer? Is there any other way to fix this? And what would I do after I NVflashed my phone?

with the nvflash method.....read it carefully....u just need to double click on flash.bat file and not nvflash.exe file
Hope it helps/....if you need more help let me know mate
EDIT: I would suggest that you use the same method but use this file with the same procedures of nvflash method...this ROM is pre-rooted with CWM clean stock R with the latest Baseband and good features....you can also use a custom ROM after that....dont forget to complete the initial setup if you want to use it
HOMERO'S ROM all credits to Homero2
Thanks a lot for replying! I read a lot about how I should use the .bat file, but there was no .bat file accompanying my download of NVFlash. Using CMD and cd command I got to do that sync command. Now downloading that Homero ROM of yours, but not entirely sure how I flash that file onto my phone? I have no .bat file in my NVflash so where can I find one if I need to to flash that ROM? Does it come with the ROM download maybe?
And currently quite happy as it appears I will get my phone working before I go travelling. Then I can fix it properly with DjangoManouche when I arrive.
EDIT: With the CWM recovery I get from this flash, can I use that to install DjangoManouche guestekernel with aroma installer? From what I understood the version of cwm recovery I had was what screwed it up, so it may work now?
With Homero ROM you will also get ripped and with CWM.you can then make a factory reset and then flash DM ROM by carburano.I have been using that for more than one year....best stock based ROM till ics arrived....
Still waiting for his magic in ics
Hope it helps you
