[Guide] Changing CSC Galaxy Tab 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android Development

Hi guy,
till Apple fights against Samsung the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is not longer availe in Germany. We can oder EU-models but the CSC and region code isn't "DBT" to get right special apps.
So I started to solve the problem by myself. Lot's of result bei google doesn't work for me, so here are the steps I do to get right product code (also shown in KIES )
Before anything, I hope you have an /efs folder backup.
1) Root your device (how-to you can find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239185 thanks djR3Z)
2) Download your CSC you would like to have from this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163 thanks bloodrider)
3) Install RootExplorer from market to copy the CSC to /system/csc
4) Download TerminalEmulator from the market and install
5) Start TerminalEmulator and use the code from bloodrider (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163)
6) At this point you will get a list of all CSC also the one you added before. After that system will reboot an install.
7) After reboot connect you tablet to KIES an show which product code Kies get
Next step for me I flash an older firmware connected to KIES again an update to new version without get lost the new region code.
Do everything on your own risk, for me it works great.

You could also just download CSC Changer for Galaxy S from the Market.
Two clicks and you're done.

If the CSC is already there that could also be a solution, otherwise not

Use US bought Galaxy Tab in Germany
I have another question (sorry if this has been addressed somewhere already):
- A friend wants me to bring him the US WIFI version to Germany. In case of a warranty issue is it covered or is the are Samsung Europe group that would support it (cause its not sold in Germany?)
thanks a lot

Anyone with a nordic galaxy tab 10.1 3g from Telia that can tell me their original CSC? I can't seem to find the right on for that.

That is true but do you know what the CSC actually includes?
I don't think using the CSC from a different device is a good idea.
1. You would change the CSC Version to "I9000OXAJM1".
2. You would flash a different SW_configuration.xml
3. You would flash a different others.xml

Doesnt seem to work either. I still get "this blah blah blah" in kies.
XEE for nordic countries and KG7 version (I know the local on in the stores had this)

Figured it out. To get stock on your nordic GT7500 from Telia do:
1. Get the KG9 firmware from samfirmware.com
2. Flash it
3. Down load the scs switcher from the market, just do a search for samsung scs. Or click
4. Change CSC to NSE
5. Done - you can update to KI1 over kies.

Sent you a PM.
Maybe someone else would like to know the answer my question, Did you still have root and CWM after flashing stock rom, and isent the local SCS nee for denmark ?

Thought I answered it?
Anyway, yes you'll lose root, but it takes 1 min to get it back. After kies is done. Go into download mode and flash clockwork recovery from Odin. Then just push root from there, works like a charm. You can find the root flash thread somewhere in this forum. Pm if you need morehelp then that.
About csc, I thought NEE was Danish as well, but Kies refuses to accept that csc. You'll get some Swedish bloat ware after flashing. Easily removed by root explorer or titanium backup.

The changing of CSC is only temporary because after flashing a new firmware, maybe from europe, you will get the original CSC from the image

Nobody said its not temporary, so whats your point?

Is it possible to change my CSC code on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G from NSE to NEE?
I would like to get the nordic firmware for my tab rather than the Telia one, because Telia has a lot of stupid programs with the firmware I can't use, or would like to use.

Thanks for the guide. I can't find the CSC for Hong Kong, anyone know?

Yes, you can. But you'll need Root and the CSC application from the market. If that fails, just follow what I did on the main page and pick NEE afterwards, then it should update to 3.2 OTA.

[Q] Restoring product Code

Does anyone know a proven method to restore my product code through the nv_data file in the efs folder? Like many who flashed to Froyo on here, My code is showing as HKKOR and should be back to stock HKOPS (Australia). Or any other way if possible.
If not, will I be able to update to the official Froyo through Kies when it's released?
If you are with Froyo, Flash multi CSC JP3 through ODIN and select your area will set your Product Code. It worked for me.
use root explorer and delete both your nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 files and reboot.
correct product codes will be recreated from your .bak files.
kies checks your product code before upgrading, but there are patcher programs to take care of that, if you want.
both topics have been discussed to death previously, I kindly suggest you do some search before posting next time.
That sounds like it might work. Do you have a link for that JP3 Rom? and does it have to be JP3.
I had just flashed back to a clean JG4 just need to restore that product code.
Sorry, I just see that you're from Australia requiring OPS csc file.
JP3 csc file will not include Australia.
You have to find a multi csc file that include your area code.
Multi csc file ask to choose area amongst several, then when choosing correct area it set this area into the product code.
Hey guys, please, i have one btw question:
I have unbranded and unlocked product code I9000HKDDBT (Debitel,Germany), but i want put firmware XFJP7 with Multi CSC XXJP7 wich have Croatian APN settings...Can I make this without any dangerous ? At this moment im on firmware in my signature wich is not for my prod.code too, but fw work like a charm, and with staying my original product code in nv_data.bin without restoring (original from stock firmware).
Or: Can I put only Multi CSC XXJP7 with Odin (without PDA and MODEM files) on my presents (XWJP6) firmware?
P.S. What i must care, i will not to stay without Download and Recovery Mods (3-comb buttons) ?
Forwarding thanks on answer
Regards

I know, badly. I'm just trying to prepare for the official froyo when it hits. I have a feeling it will be a disappointment, then I'll be back to a rooted JPO or something. I was still on JPK
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

I've got 2.2 XXJPK (KOR), but not root. How do I fix CSC and update it via Kies?

Current firmware version: PDA:JPK / PHONE:JPK / CSC:JPK (KOR)
I uninstalled Kies 2.0.0.11014_49_2 and am now running 1.5.3.10093.82 (no reghacks yet). Obviously neither version of Kies would upgrade the firmware.
I see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=787163
Except the phone is not rooted. The phone is an international I9000 from Europe (not sure where as I'm in Asia and I bought it used outside of Europe). I'm assuming it's originally XEU but I don't know (also I see reports that official Kies flash for XEU has changed the CSC to KOR before for other people and as my phone is not rooted, I assume it had to have been an official Kies update that did this).
I've already installed a bunch of apps and stuff on it, in case that complicates anything.
On the phone there is an "nv_data.bin.orig" in the main phone directory (the phone is not rooted, I installed Titanium Backup which confirmed it wasn't).
What can I do? Can I see what CSC is in that nv_data.bin.org? And revert the phone to that, and then run Kies to get 2.2.1?
Thanks for any help!
EDIT: Damn. I opened that file in Notepad and searched for the string "HKD" and found it still said HKDKOR, so I guess this is a backup of the current version which won't help me
I ran the Registry Patcher 1.7 with the previous version of Kies and it still won't let me update the phone. =\
First ROOT THAT THING!!! And backup your efs folder.
Then change your CSC to something properly.
The old 1.5 Kies was reported not working (somehow blocked via Sammy so you have to use the new one). So your only way is spoofing the new one (which I heard didnt work, just showed the new FW didnt allow to install) or to change the CSC.
Couple of things.
First what rom you have?
Kernel?
3 button recovery/download?
Did you apply any lagfix?
Dont do any of this till you reply to my questions!
1. Rooting with super one click root. This should be relatively safe even if you did something stupid before.
2. Backup efs folder so you dont loose your imei , this is kinda crucial as it happens from to time(on what you are about to do) and since you bought in europe you would be literaly f.cked . (after root use sgs tools or toolbox, whatever is in market) and send the backup to your PC, USB, mail wherever is safe, not just your phone.
3. If you dont wanna go custom and keep the stock. Well choose the best CSC you would like what would fit you. and check if it also has already froyo 2.2.1 good page is http://www.samfirmware.com/ (I changed mine which was IRD and changed it to XEU as that having updates sooner) . since I have no idea which rom you have, it might even work with that old code which is in SGS toolbox /tools or you use the automatic one from the thread you posted in the first post, the method wiht the IMEI and code.
Anyway dont forget to answer the questions before you do anything. So you dont end up with a useless brick
I rooted it before I saw your post using the CF-Root then used My Backup Root to backup all the Apps + Data.
I haven't done anything else yet. I just got SGS Toolbox, it says:
code in nv_data.bin
HKDKOR
code in nv_data.bak
HKDO2U
Okay, I backed up the efs folder.
Should I change the CSC with SGSToolbox and will that lose all my apps/data? And then I can use new 2.0 Kies to update to 2.2.1?
Or should I flash with 2.2.1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12159821&postcount=145

To the loosing, you wrote you did the mybackup thing, so you can use that backup (not on system apps and settings, that might go wrong, but apps, your custom launcher etc)
The changing of CSC (or flashing via Odin I think) or even a rom upgrade is mostly connected with the loosing of everything, even if you dont , a factory reset is recommended so there is no leftover garbage.
So if I was you. I would change my CSC to something nice. Like XEU (or NEE) and then upgrade via Kies. (Not sure NEE might be possible, but you can always try).
But its up to you if you do the ODIN or Kies. Not sure if kies will work and never used odin
Do you know if NEE lets you use English (US) for language?
EDIT: Nevermind!
Post number 17 in that NEE thread where you asked . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12135204&postcount=17

[Q] Help me identify / upgrade my GT-N7000

I am in the US. I received a Galaxy Note as a gift. Purchased off NewEgg, sometime in December, allegedly from Canada, but I think that was a lie.
Samsung USA and Samsung Canada both denied the existence of this model.
Version page says: imgur.com/QezuO
PDA: N7000XXKK9
PHONE: N7000XXKK5
CSC: N7000OJVKK2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKK9-CL725676 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXKK9
My carrier is T-Mobile, with terrible, terrible data connection. (No 3G)
Will it be possible to receive OTA updates even though T-Mobile has never heard of it?
Kies says the device is unsupported. Is it possible to straighten that out?
Finally, if I need to use Odin, or some other tool to flash a ROM, how can I do a full backup first?

That's fascinating. Not the sketchiest place it could have come from, but definitely not Canada. It looks like the January update missed South Africa.
So, where does that leave me as far as updating my firmware?
Will it update on its own when S. African devices get the update? Is there any way I can connect it to Kies? Is there any benefit and/or risk to reflashing it to another region?

If you root your Note as mentioned above, you can forget about Kies (which is a piece of ****e, BTW), and flash any stock or custom Rom you like. Just check the Dev section and you'll find a wide choice of both.

Too many choices. :-/
Since I posted this thread, I have:
1. Learned a huge amount about my phone and how it works internally.
2. Rooted my phone using the ZergRush script.
3. Backed up everything on my phone using Titanium Backup.
4. Installed Odin Pro
Now, I have to decide which Firmware to install. I'd prefer a stock ROM, since I like the stock UI and apps.
It sounds like I have to change my CSC code to continue? Since there is only one ROM for my CSC. Will this step wipe my phone?
Are there any reasons to prefer one region's ROM over another? "Open" sounds like a good thing. Does it matter?
Don't worry about changing the csc. Its always an option, but entirely unnecessary unless you want to go full stock and remain unrooted. If your csc matches the csc of the official rom you have installed, you'll get kies/ota updates for that region (with dbt probably being the best one)
However, if you always want to flash the latest official firmware via mobile odin, regardless of region, and retain root, your csc is irrelevant.
It doesn't matter which rom you use from the list. I'm currently on the Germany lb1 rom, and the only difference is that the initial 'touch the Android to begin' screen was in German. There's a button on that screen to select your language from a list.

You were supposed to. Let me explain:
It's always a good practice to start clean when flashing new Roms (unless the Rom developer doesn't specify otherwise). So, the usual procedure before flashing new Roms is:
1. reboot to CWM recovery
2. factory reset
3. wipe cache
4. advanced/wipe dalvik cache
5. flash Rom zip
When you flash a Rom over another Rom without a full wipe (the little procedure above), you may face issues like FCs, old Rom components still present, random reboots and whatnot. I'm not saying these problems have to happen, but they may.
I actually just wiped mine. I switched the CSC to match the ROM I'm using. I was hoping this would get Kies to talk to it. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with making things work as the manufacturer intended!
Restoring stuff now.
Well there are no apparent benefits with KIES recognizing your device and force updates on them, coz doing so would "unroot" your phone.
So if you want to keep root, just download the stock ROM and use CWM manager to flash it. And this definitely is not how the manufacturer intends it to be, because he never wants you to be "root" in the first place.

Yes any GB rom for N7000 will work
lol, people
your on gn, first find product code, use the google search. The one that brings up sell code.
Now you have your pcode, that tels you what device
then dial and note your emei
*#06#
then with your emei
*#272*yourimei#
Now you have csc.
Whatever you do. If you root or plan to flash roms, backup your efs, on and off the phone.
Dont wipe on ics/jb because of brickbug. This includes changing csc, factory reset etc

Updating problems (Stock GB to Stock ICS)

I recently went from custom ICS roms to stock gingerbread. I am having troubles trying to get the phone to update through wi-fi and Kies. When I try to update on the phone through wifi it says there is "no software update available". When connecting the Note with Kies it says "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies". Anyone else had this problem?
The ROM I flashed via ODIN is:
N7000XXKK9 ------ 2.3.6 2011 November------- N7000OXAKK9 -----------------Germany (Debitel) -------------------
I know I can just update via ODIN but I would like OTA updating to work.
Download OPEN Germany from three followinf link and you will have no issue with OTA
just flash 4.0.4 direct...since you are already on GB
do you need root? If so then instead flash the pre rooted GB rom on the same page... and yoi can use mobile odin then to wipe flash the 4.0.4 with everroot and supersu... That is what i would do...
Be sure to use a safe kernel if you plan on doing any wipes on ics

Well I read your preconditions and am not sure if I have everything correct. All I've done is flash the 4.0.4 stock ROM with Odin and still get the problem with Kies. Is there more I need to do?
why dont you keep updating via odin, Its faster then Kies.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
I'm currently trying to sell the phone and the buyer may not want to do it that way. Rather than through Kies, I'm hoping to just get updating through the phone to be working. But I could just tell them to update through Odin if no solution is found.
Anyone have a solution to this problem?
Go by them one by one and eliminate them. If you cant figure one out, then ask
preconditions for update ota/kies
No root(for ota it doesnt matter)
All codes intact (imei, pcode)
All components installed of same rom and version of rom that was distributed through Kies or ota.
Rom csc must match the installed rom. Most updates aren't available because for phone csc there is no update. This is the csc obtainable throught dialing *#06# for imei then dial *#272*yourimeihere#. Note changing csc triggers factory reset, so do from save kernel should you like to change.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
have you reset your counter binary ?
Okay, now I feel dumb. Guess every problem/fix isn't always so technical. Believe problem was the wrong country/region was selected on the Samsung agreement and hadn't changed until I did a factory reset.
Okay, so I guess that wasn't the problem. A Singapore ROM had just happened to work while the others did not.
Edit2: Dudes remember do resets wipes only on safe kernels... Best done from gb.
Edit: made a way that could work for yah. Checking preconditions with some of the how to is a must. It saves following procedure. Anyway if you get stuck, follow this advice.
A way to get updatability functional throught Kies/OTA.
Restore efs backup of condition when first bought phone.
If none made, root phone and make one now safe multiple locations. (of the phone)
Then, if you know csc phone came with, download a rom for that csc, earliest gb possible, one that was distributed throught Kies or Ota. See www.sammobile.com for that. it shows a kies logo next to the rom in the firmware section. That is the one we are looking for. Should have in the zipfile a single tar file.
Now get a standard pit file and flash throught pc odin the rom with the pitfile. See dr ketans thread in sticky section development for that on how to do it. Do this all without external sd card or simcard in phone, never select clear efs in pc odin.
If phone doesnt reboot head into recovery and factory reset and clear cache. Reboot. After phone reboot dial *2767*3855# for ultimate factory reset. Do not change anything to the rom, no cf or modded kernel or different modem. You will lose all data.
Now after this completes,
Check imei, check csc as described earlier. All intact and inline with rom? Good, if not, select the csc of the rom press instal and let phone reboot.
Now check pcode:dial *2767*4387264636# this should be same as rom, and filled in. Pcode correct? Good.
Now you dont have root, codes correct, and an updatable rom.
Hook up to Kies and or ota update it!
You might need to check with different versions of roms(preferably gb to be safe). I found some weren't directly updatable, dont know why.
Notes
If imei is gone, reflash efs backup,
If nulls on entry with keyboard select the tar file in pcodin in cache and flash)
If pcode different, you can change, but search on how to edit it on computer with hex editor. Pm me if this is the case. I hope not. In the end its easier to start over with a rom matching that pcode that is there and selecting the coresponding csc
ps I have done this multiple times, all based on experience and countless hours figuring out how to fix it so I have way back should I want to sell phone in working condition.
All at own risk, I am trying to help, but can't guarantee anything, what worked for me may not work for others

Okay, so I guess that wasn't the problem. A Singapore ROM had just happened to work while the others did not.

I have been able to update from kies 3 times now, but last release just doesn't work.
My original CSC was ZTA, then I changed it to DBT when it was on 2.3.5 (GB).
Kies let me update from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 to 4.0.3, then to 4.0.4 (I am currently on XXLRK, CSC DBT).
Now, kies says:
Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies.
Current firmware version: N7000XXLRK/N7000DBTLRK/N7000XXLRK/N7000XXLRK (ZTA)
How does it know my device was originally ZTA?
Why have I been able to upgrade via Kies so far and last update Kies says I can't upgrade?
Thanks in advance.
Kies has an update of itself as well from time to time and it retains and detects your very original copy of your ROM in its system (before you change your csc to DBT- Germany?)
Comparing it with the initial(checksum) and with your latest ROM upgrade, KIES sees some anomaly on your latest ROM (since its not on the right tree path), therefore its telling you now, your latest ROM is not supported anymore.
You were able to fool the software before.. but it's not going to be fooled second time already. Either you can revert back to your original CSC and upgrade it again thru kies (on the right tree path) or the second option would be to use PC /mobile Odin from now on to upgrade (to the firmware/ROM of your choice).
Or you can clean install kies, take out all registry keys files etc. But thats to much hastle

Go by them one by one and eliminate them. If you cant figure one out, then ask
Rom csc must match the installed rom. Most updates aren't available because for phone csc there is no update. This is the csc obtainable throught dialing *#06# for imei then dial *#272*yourimeihere#. Note changing csc triggers factory reset, so do from save kernel should you like to change.

Hello All, Just would like to share ... I just bought a 2nd hand note, later I found my note is german rom ie; N7000XXLPY/N7000XXLPT/N7000OXALPY is 4.0.3, because when I try to update through kies ..it saying not support....
So I try to change CSC ..there are many and I dont know which one work ..got EXU..., after change one CSC ..then plug in PC run kies .. finally until I changed DBT ..it show got update .. So the above statement is right ...
once I update it to 4.0.4 and would like to change back to KOR (I think mean for asia), all the CSC code gone ... now there are fews icon which is not supported but everything is fine.
I hink if you have open rom ..better dont update through kies .. it will wipe out all CSC .. Now I have to find my country stock rom with CSC to flash in.....

yep that sucks good luck!
Kor is default csc for I think Asians rom, or Korean. If csc of phone is not present it defaults to a default csc in rom. Its funny.
Messed up many times. Be safe
You can select your choice csc rom tar file in cache in pc odin, flash and then its selectable, be on safe kernel or gb rom just in case
