Tethering on HD7 - HD7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated to Mango through Zune a few days ago and I can't find the tethering option. Apparently it should be in the settings menu but I can't find it. I've also tried installing DFRouter but I can't get ChevronWP7 to work. I'm guessing it's because it was designed for NoDo, and I've read O2 support tethering on all handsets.

hello,
i just now install this ROM]ROM_HTC_HD7_FullyUnlocked_and_ISharing.
a tethering over wifi work fine.

Internet Sharing Finally
It seems like Microsoft decides which country and carrier get the firmware update, I think India has gotten the HTC update.
I have an unlocked HD7 in Mexico with Telcel, and yesterday I got the "Software Update" notification (via the cellular internet).
Seems like 3rd world countries are the guinea pigs for the update.
Radio software:
Before: 5.69.09.29a_22.50.50.21U
After: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware:
Before: 4.5.2250.0(129966)
After: A.12.0.D4
"Internet Sharing" is now available in the settings menu, hang in there.

Unable to roam on Three (3g) Australia - Help Please

I have a HTC Touch Diamond P3700 which I think was sourced from Hong Kong. I use it on the Hutchinson 3 network in Australia and am unable to get Roaming (on Telstra network) going. I am currently on hoidays in Noosa and there is no Three coverage here and the phone will not switch to Roaming. I had installed the Hutchinson 3 official Rom (I was able to get this on the phone by first flashing Olinex Hard SPL).
Current Installed Firmware...
ROM Version = 1.93.861.4 WWE
ROM Date = 11/21/08
Radio Version = 1.09.25.23
Protocol Version = 52.51.25.26W
Model = HTC Touch Diamond P3700
The above ROM is Hutchinson 3 Aus with a different Radio version. I have also tried to Roam with the stock Hutchinson ROM.
With the above setup, the only Network Type I can select are WCDMA or Auto. GSM/UMTS band options are UMTS (900+2100) + GSM (900+1800) and Auto. I have installed advanced Comm Manager which enables me to turn off 3G in the hope that the phone would Roam on Telstra GSM. When I do this the Network Type selection is blank.
I have also flashed Duttys 5.2.20764.1.4.3_V4_Full_MSVC [2.03] and was able to view a full range of UMTS and GSM bands and had WCDMA, Auto and GSM as an option in Network Type.
I have also tried the following Radios:
1.00.25.05
1.13.25.24
1.11.25.1
1.09.25.23
1.00.25.06
1.12.25.16 (couldn't get this one to work)
I am not scared to try flashing different items, but am really lost as to why I can't get Roaming (on Telstra network). I suspect the version of my Diamond does not have the necessary hardware to use the required Band.
Can anyone give me a tip as I am now lost and Hutchinson won't help me as I didn't buy the phone through them. Even being a customer (2 phones) for 3 years + doesn't not count (might be time for a new provider).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Paul
I am with Three also, they really suck, dont they?
Have you tried changing the radio to 1.08.25.20? thats the best I have found for use with 3. This should enable the GSM option under network connections. Actually I specifically remember that the GSM option (or antoher) was different for me on your type of radio...
let me know how you go.
I am with Three using an imported Diamond, radion 1.09.25.23 but the official one for Three Australia also worked fine to me. I roam onto Telstra a lot cos not in a good coverage area.
Have roamed across europe and no problems. Is it the data connection or the voice that you need? If the data connection is the problem then maybe download a new connection setup cab and try to update that. Sorry, not much use I know!
Still no luck
Bigruss
Voice is the thing I am after. Still no luck. I have gone back to Duttys 5.2.20764.1.4.3_V4_Full_MSVC ROM and Radio 1.08.25.20 which enables GSM to be selected. Under SETTING|PHONE|NETWORK I have pressed the 'Find Network' button but the phone cannot find any networks yet my wife's iPhone is able to pick up Roaming (Telstra), Yes Optus and Vodafone AU. I find it strange that my Touch Diamond can't locate any networks. I'll keep hunting the fault but it is very frustrating. Thanks for the help. Cheers, Paul

Paul,
Try going to Setting>Phone>Band tab and select 'GSM', then 'Auto' or the apprpriate band for roaming.
Thanks dieselpower89
I have tried all that. Also changed the ROM 5 or 6 times. Radios that and a few more. It is as if the phone will only recognize the Three network and nothing else. It will not pick up any other networks. Very strange.
why u dont give a try to upgrade to the official one(2.03.707.2)?
maybe it wil help u
Albert_betet
2.03.707.2 is not available for Australian networks. I tried to download from htc.com but it rejected my serial number as not compatiable. I have tried the latest Hutchinson ROM which is still current on the htc.com website (Australian) and whilst it works on my phone, the roaming doesn't activate.
might be a sim card prob. im on 3 with a diamond from overseas as well. before i kept losing receptino and it would reconnect when i powered up the screen. and also it would say no reception but i could go on 3 internet and stuff. Just go to the 3 store and they will give u a brand new sim card for free then callup customer care and tel them to transfer your service onto your new sim card. only took like 3 minutes in total.. and the call centre is 24hrs
Thanks JexL,
You're a champ!! My wife's sim card has been roaming in her iPhone so I put her card in my phone and didn't find a network at first. I went to SETTINGS |PHONE and then Network tab and there was another option for either Auto or Manual select a network. I selected manual which then found the 3 available networks here in Noosa. I chose Telstra and then Roaming became available. I turned off the phone and swapped back my card. Turned phone on and Roaming was found immediately. Funnily enough I don't have the auto/manual network selection option. But the phone works so that is the main thing.
Thanks again to all that helped.

HOT FIX - 3G Connectivity Problem after Radio + ROM Update

Hello,
There are lot of HTC Shift owners that after changed the Radio version with the Thaihugo Radio 1.27 get in 3G connection problem. This happen when the HTC Shift is not an US version and is some Italian, UK or other countries version.
I have my old HTC Shift which is US version and after changed the Radio with v1.27 and the ROM with Thaihugo Light ROM I don't get any issue.
With few days ago I received my friend HTC Shift (Italian version) and changed the Radio with 1.27 and then the ROM with Thaihugo ROM and get the 3G connectivity problem. I tried lot of Radio versions and nothing working... every time sound noise or WM freeze and no phone functionability.
After 2 days of tests I found the solution... Simple and unexpected easy and good for everyone which changed the Radio version with 1.27 and get in 3G Connectivity problem:
1. Restore Radio version 1.27 if was somehow changed with other Radio version (doing tests as me).
2. Click on "Phone / Menu / Options / Band" and be sure that both options are on "Auto" mode. This will allow 3G/HSDPA if your GSM Provider support it.
3. Go to "Settings / Connections" then click on "Connections" icon, go to "Manage existing connections".
4. Select your existing GSM Provider connection name and click on "Edit". Click "Next" and EMPTY/DELETE "Access point name:" even if your GSM provider give you an required "Access point name" this should be BLANK. Then click "Next" and "Finish".
Now your Connection will be connected on 3G/HSDPA without any issue.
My GSM Provider is Vodafone and with this solution I finally fixed the 3G connectivity issue forever and this using Radio 1.27.
Hope this will help anyone wich have 3G Connectivity problem and search for wrong solution as different Radio version.
Good luck!
Dont work this solution on my shift.

First I assume that your HTC Shift was Liberated and HardSPL'ed.
Second be sure that your HTC Shift Radio was changed to Radio 1.27
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DMWZBMQ6
Then be sure that your ROM is one of the Thaihugo Light ROM or Age of Beauty ROM or any other Custom ROM based on this Radio 1.27 version.
Now if there is 3G connectivity problem just apply my solution.
If still don't work for you then the reason is that your GSM Provider require "Access Point Name" for the internet connection. There are some GSM Providers that require the "Access Point Name" for internet connection else the connection will fail.
The issue with this Radio 1.27 is placed somewhere at the point of "Access Point Name" so switching to an 3G Provider which don't require "Access Point Name" as Vodafone on my case then the issue is fixed and your 3G connection should work.
I'll try and comment later. Thanks!
No way, man. I have the same loop as ever (3g-edge-g), but no hsdpa. I have an Italian Shift with h3g operator. Thanks anyway mate.

My new HTC Shift is also Italian version but I use it with Vodafone RO (Romania) as I am here.
First I Liberated, then HardSPL'ed, next changed the Radio to 1.27 and finally changed the ROM with Thaihugo Light ROM. Everything goes fine and the Phone and GPS works as expected but no 3G/HSDPA connection. There was always the H from HSDPA in the left of the signal but when try to connect every time failed.
After changed over 10 Niki Radio versions modded to match HTC Shift I finally tried to change something on connection settings and once I removed the Vodafone RO access point name (internet.pre.vodafone.ro) and left that info BLANK, my HTC Shift goes on 3G/HSDPA in seconds and works as expected.
Maybe your GSM Provider don't allow connection without the "Access Point Name" defined! This should be the issue as for me works!
Yeah, maybe... I'll keep try; if I found a solution for H3G operator I'll post there.

[Q] Network problems with I9000 bought in Singapore, using in Canada

Hi everyone,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (16gb) in Singapore and was using it fine on Singtel's network (signed a contract with them). Now I have moved back to Canada and brought my phone with me assuming that all would be ok to use it with the network here. However I'm having big problems with this one network I just signed up with (Virgin Mobile).
85% of the time I cannot connect to it: voice calls and SMSing won't work nor will the data work on it, the only thing it says is "Emergency calls only". Then at other times everything will seem to connect and work fine - I can make calls and use data.
Virgin Mobile will not support me much because they're thinking it's the phone's problem, if I use the phone they gave me (a lower-end model) it works fine.
Here are some details of my phone:
Firmware version
2 2
Baseband version
I9000DXJPA
Kernel version
2 6 32 9
root (at) SE-S604 #1
Build number
FROYO DXJPA
If I check out the status, it usually says this:
Network
Unknown (switches to VIRGIN when it does work)
Mobile network type
UMTS (switches between that and HSDPA and GPRS)
Service state
Out of service
Mobile network state
Disconnected (switches to connected when working, and even when it's not working sometimes)
I have Network mode set to auto mode (GSM/WCDMA). I've tried to switch it to GSM only but that didn't seem to change anything.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of configuration settings I still need to do with the phone? I'm also wondering if it is the network I'm with right now? Virgin Mobile isn't one of the bigger telcom companies here and I'm thinking that if I switch to one of the bigger telcoms, will it work better?
Something else to add - before I signed up with Virgin I was using my phone with a pre-paid service (called Chatr) for voice only and it was working fine.
I'm sure this phone can support the GSM frequencies here.. can't it?
I also still have the Singtel customizations on the phone. Will it help if I remove it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Ryan
You can always try flashing a different MODEM (Radio) .. And you might as well upgrade to a 2.2.1 firmware, if not GB.
hmm.. do you know where I can learn how to flash my phone to a different (and more appropriate!) modem? also where to find an update to the firmware?

Just search in these forums. It's all there. You can easily flash a new radio package using ODIN. Better yet, try one of the custom ROMs from the I9000 Android Development section.

No connection to Windows live id through 3g

When I had the original rom from t-mobile I could not download apps from Market through 3G. Only on wifi. I could search through them, but when it comes to download there is a no no.
Now I have a mango 7713 from here. Still the same but now I also get "Windows live ID service not availible" on the bing search page. But still all work ok on wifi.
Also I live in Sweden and browsing the web on IE Works fine
Try a different SIM card from another operator. If it works your operator blocks some ports while using 3G. If not the phone radio ROM might be defective so you should try to flash a newer version of radio ROMs.
Hope that helps.
Cina.

[Q] Samsung Ativ S T899M.003 LTE Settings

Hi,
I have done some searching on the forums and found related questions to this, but no answer that fixes my problem.
I have been using a Samsung Ativ S T899M for about 2 years now, originally a phone from Rogers Canada that my work bought, imported into the US on AT&T through Expansys. I actually live in Canada though and use it on Rogers.
We bought these phones with WinPho 8.0 on them, and configured them originally to use the APN WAP.CINGULAR and they connected just fine to Rogers Network, showing 3G, 4G and LTE connectivity for the last 2 years. When I go to the US for work, I switch it to 'Automatic' network connection and I get connectivity just fine. Even through various updates to Windows Phone 8.1, including the Developer Preview.
I recently reset my phone due to formatting issues with an SD card, and reset everything, restoring from a backup:
OS Version: 8.10.14176.243
FW Rev: 2212.12.11.2
HW Rev: 15.3.1.0
Radio Software ver: <blank?>
Radio Hardware ver: <blank?>
I reset the phone, and only 3 days later was I prompted to update to the above versions, although I checked for updates shortly after the reset.
Now to the problem: I no longer see LTE as a connectivity option when connecting to Rogers Network, AND I don't have Internet connectivity, even when choosing 4G. (I realize this might be 2 diff problems)
In the Settings --> 'Cellular+SIM' --> 'SIM' menu, I see only 2G, 3G and 4G in the highest connection speed..no LTE as there was before.
When I search for networks, I see Rogers at 2G, 3G and 4G, no LTE.
I have the APN set to WAP.CINGULAR and have also tried fast.t-mobile.com as advised in some other forum posts, with no luck.
I have the diagnostics app installed (*#634#) and have dialed into the Test Mode menu using *#0011# and tried to follow the codes to get to the UTMS mode menu, but it does not work. Tapping Back twice does nothing whatsoever.
Does anyone have a similar experience? Am I missing the Radio drivers I need? How do I correct this?
Any help / advice / tests are appreciated.
I have this phone as well. Its unlocked from Bell Canada. I made the same mistake and upgraded it to 8.1 DP, I since bought a Nokia Lumia 635 that I use as my daily driver, as there are soo many bugs with the T899M now using the 8.1DP. When I was using it I noticed that missing LTE from the settings as well, but every now and then my phone would tell me I was connected to LTE in the status bar.
I really wish there was a way to restore this phone back to the original factory firmware 8.0....well I'm sure there is, but for some reason there simply is no ROM online to do so. Very unfortunate for us T899M owners who did the 8.1 DP update.
The missing radio HW & SW lines are because Samsung needs to update the firmware, some of the hardware is missing proprietary drivers (radios/camera, etc), unfortunately everytime I contact Samsung they tell me the same thing. "You cannot downgrade, it is not possible. We will let you know when an update is available".....basically the're no help.
Alls we can do is wait....one day it maybe updated...who knows when though...apparently not Samsung.
4G is LTE. I set my highest setting to 4G and in the top corner it shows LTE. 8.1 DP latest
