As I understand it, backups created in Rom Manager are stored on the sdcard. Backups created in Clockwork are stored on the sdcard-ext. Rom Manager will not, at this time, look at the sdcard-ext. You can copy and paste them to the sdcard though.

Not sure....

not sure where to post this question, sorry if it isnt in the right place.
Am I correct in assuming that the ringtones and notification sounds are packaged in with the individual ROMs? And, if so, how would I add to or remove individual sounds? Thanks
If you download the rom, open up the zip and extract the system/media/audio folder they should be in there
thanks. i guess what i'm trying to figure out is how to alter those ststem files once they are on the phone

Using root explorer, select mount r/w and go to the folder mentioned in the previous post. You can copy, paste, and delete ringtones in your current rom.

im not sure where to post this question too (Sorry guys)?
Is there a way to have 2 roms in the same phone? rom switcher or something like that?
I believe you can use clockwork mod Rom manager. Or just keep your nand backups on your SD card and restore at will.

I highly suggest not using clockworkmod rom manager, I've heard it doesn't play well with the eris. I would go with the nand backups.

Just make sure if you restore that you are on the same rom that you backed up.
Will do. Is there options rather than restoring? I cant seem to find a "recycle bin" of sorts for android but I am betting I can find some type of revovery program that if I dont make file changes should be able to recover them. Going to look at that but will take suggestions if anyone has a better idea or a program that will work. Freaking sucks, such a stupid and careless mistake.

the trash is generally a hidden folder called ".TRASH" in the respective folder/directory

I have looked for that and I do not see it. I deleted them from within the gallery app. The files were stored both on my external SD card and on the internal in the starndard DCIM directory. No .trash folder exists in the locations I have looked. Would you know a specific path?

no settings for cm7 mms.apk?

I installed the mms apply from the latest cm7 droid incredible nightly, and it works fine except for the fact that I can't access any of the settings. any way to fix this or do I have to be running full cm7 for them to work?

CM7 full build will not run on Droid X because of the bootloader, however, does not mean you can not take out certain parts of the CM7 build.
Did you try installing the app on your Droid X? I have tried doing this with other device with SOME success. However, the package apps with CM7 are built into CM7's framework. You would have to pull other apk's from the framework, ie. "settings".
I know the full CM7 is not loadable on the X (obvioulsy), find the full framework of the CM7 build you pulled the messaging app from and search through it to find other related apks, zips, and files that you might also need. If you are infact trying to insert them into your Droid X. Good luck!!
Post up if you succed!!
EDIT::
you best bet is to find a freind or something that is already running the CM7 build you want the messaging app out of. Access Root Explorer, search "mms", hard press each file, zip, apk, etc. extract or copy each file (if you extract a new folder will appear on the SD card for them), DO NOT "go to extracted" click "stay here" take those files off the SD card, and try to match them up with whichever ROM you are running and replace. No guarantee that will work, but its your best bet. Its what I had to do. MAKE A BACK-UP of your current ROM first AND do this with the full knowledge you may not be able to boot up again, so make sure you have a good recovery installed and the back-up of your ROM on the root of your SD card.

[SOLVED]Slow Nandroid backups on bootstrapper?

Hey, guys. Haven't used an android for months since I let my DROID X go. I could have sworn I came across a thread with a solution to slow backups on bootstrapper but can't find it. Anyone have the solution? Thanks.
To slow them down or speed them up? To speed them up flash the newest ClockworkMod Recovery from Rom Manager after flashing the Bionic Bootstrapper. Then go to the Clockworkmod folder where your backups are saved (either sD or sd-ext) and place a file named ".hidenandroidprogess" without the quotes in that root directory of ClockWorkMod. That is .hideNANDROIDprogress not Android. Nandroid. Should speed things up drastically.

Thanks! Going to try that tomorrow. The backups take way too long.
Okay. I created a file in that backup folder like you told me but I'm still getting slow backups. ".hidenandroidprogress" without the quotes of course. And a period inserted before. I flashed the latest clockworkmod recovery as well. 5.0.2.5
Not the backup sub folder where the files are. It needs to be in the SD-EXT/CLOCKWORKMOD/ folder. Not sd-ext/clockwordmod/backup/ folder. Assuming thats where you write your backups. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

Got it. That's exactly what I did. Backups are much faster. Thanks for that.
Make a folder, or a file? If its a file, just a text file and name it .hidenandroidprogress?
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using xda premium
Correct. Make a blank file, like a .nomedia file, and call it .hidenandroidprogress or just copy a .nomedia file in there and rename it to .hidenandroidprogress. CWM will then stop showing you progress of Nandroid backups and restores. You just get the four or five main steps listed (backing up system, data, sd-ext...etc) no file listings and proggess bar as it goes. DRASTICALLY speeds up the process

I didn't notice much difference at first, but I am now. This is EXTREMELY helpful.

What's funny is that my nandroids have ALWAYS been like this on the Bionic. I've been using cvps bootstrap since I first rooted (day of bionic release).
I wasn't sure what people were talking about so I put a hidenandroidprogress file in that folder and it slowed my nandroids waaaaaay down since it was showing every step...
Not sure why mine was backwards, but I was just reminded of this so I just checked and I don't see the file in my sd-ext/clockworkmod folder... Guess I need to do another backup and see if it's fast or slow again...

After I create the file in file manager, I can't see the new file that was created. Is the .hidenandroidprogress file a hidden file to begin with?
Yes. Anything beginning with a period denotes that the file is a hidden file.

Anyone know if this technique works with TWRP used in Safestrap 3.x?
No idea. Only use TWRP on my Xoom. And I don't have a bionic anymore. Sorry

TWRP Restore Empty

Hi all,
I am trying to restore a twrp backup that I made, but when I go to twrp and click restore I get a black screen where it should show me the backup file, yet I can navigate via the pc to phones internal storage to TWRP/BACKUPS/2013-06-19--12-07-12/ and all the win files and md5 files are in that folder, tried making that folder into a zip and flashing like you would a normal rom install but it just fails. Please help folks!

Sure I just figured it was me being stupid and most people would know!, for some reason, twrp was only reading the sdcard but the backup was actually stored in /data/media/twrp/backups (no idea why it started doing this, I actually have 2 HTC ones both being sent back to vodafone and never had this prob on the first unit), anyway, I downloaded a app called root explored which enabled me to copy the backup file from data/media/twrp/backups to the sdcard/twrp/backups folder and then I could restore
I am sure there is a reason why I had this problem but I wouldn't have a clue as to why! But anyway that's how I solved it, I am sure there is an easier way tho!

It does this with 4.2.2 I think it sucks actually because if you want to copy a back up to/from your computer you have to use adb push or copy it over to your sd, then move it into /data/media
