Please go through this article to falsh CM7 without any problem... It also has got solutions to most common problems user get while flashing...
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2011/09/flashing-cyanogen-mod-710-in-samsung.html
Also, make sure you don't copy the zip file inside any folder. Copy it to /sdcard/ and everything will be fine...

Re-“Stocking” system

Hello everyone, I am new on forum and this help urgently so I have to ask this here..
I was updating to gingerbread following this tut and had problems with last step which is "Re-“Stocking” Yer System…". The actual problem is that I transfer my .zip to tab and later in Recovery mode I can't find it "“install zip from sdcard”.
Is there any other way to do this or where's the problem cuz I am pretty sure I know that I've put file there lol
Did you put the zip on internal or external?
Why dont you just use odin/heidmill to flash the stock gb

First step is "install zip from sd card" then "choose zip from sd card". in the last step even if it is on the external sd you will be able to find it. Done several times with the zip on a folder I created on the external sd called downloaded.

It's on internal and I see other folders (like on PC) there but no sign of my .zip ...
It's my first touch with Android so I am not sure what do u mean by that
EDIT: Sorry guys for bothering u for such a stupid thing, I found out what the problems was.. It wasn't .zip file, it was .rar... Ah, I really shouldn't do such things tired at night. Thanks guys anyway, from now on I'll look better

[Q] can't find install zip from sd card

Hi,Please help, after push 3 buttons 3d,volume down, power.so my phone go into CWM,but I can't see " install zip from sd card ",my phone is rooted.Help please .Thanks
Refer to this thread to properly flash CWM recovery. If you have trouble doing so, you may have to manually move the file from your SD card to the system file where it goes. (I had this problem)

That's your problem right there, you installed Clockwork Recovery with ROM Manager, this has been documented to kill Thrills, you're lucky you didn't outright hose the phone. Here, follow the instructions in section "1. Recovery Manager" to get a PROPER Clockwork Recovery installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870

Mobile Odin Pro can Recognize Zip Files?

I can't see the Zip file in Mobile Odin Pro
If we are talking about stock ROM, unzip it. It contains md5 tar files.
Also I don't think you can use zip with mobile Odin.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
You need is to flash zip with CWM.

you have a CWM file that is flashed via recovery NOT a standard stock/odin rom flash
just go in recovery mode
choose "install zip from sd card"
choose "internal sd card"
then choose the .zip file
press yes and wait

Rooting SD card for Nook - image unzipping

Hello,
I am so new to this it is not even funny. I have been relentlessly trying to root an SD card for my nook. I am following the thread on this site that gives step by step instructions and all links - ([ROM][CM7] [v1.3] Size-agnostic SD Card image and CM7 installer for SD Cards.). When I download the "image" at the beginning of the steps - the one you have to unzip- my computer downloads it as a .bin file and nothing, and I mean nothing, I have tried will unzip that damn image. I have burned through 2 SD cards trying. I do not know what to do. I have downloaded every unzip utility on both Mac and Windows to no avail. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Something is wrong with your PC. It should have a single file in the zip that ends in .img. Try downloading with your nook or a different PC. (Also some PCs hide the .zip ending from you, which I think really sucks.)

OKay so I used a different computer - Windows this time, I use a Mac. and I burned the image to an SD and all necessary files. When I loaded it into my nook I got the penguin and the blue script, but then it says Initial install files not found please download from nook.linuxhacker.ru
Any ideas what that is about?

Yes, you need to rename the rom zip file with update- at the beginning. CM changed their naming standard to cm-. You obviously did not use my image or that would have been fixed. You will have to rename the zips everytime you flash a new one.

Okay I see what I did. I used the wrong file - I had yours and the old one saved and like the dork I am I used the wrong one. I dont know how to add the extension update- to the file, it will not let me make changes to it. So I downloaded your file and I was wondering if I am supposed to unzip them? When I do unzip them I get two files that my computer doesnt recognize and one is named uRecIMG and one is uRecRAM. What am I supposed to do with those files?? Sorry to be a total bother I am just totally clueless. Thanks

Yes, unzip them. Just put the card in your PC and copy those two files to the SD. They will replace the two files that are there. That's all there is to it. Next time you boot to sd recovery it will use those files instead of the old ones. And it will recognize the new file names for the rom zips.

Thank you so so much for all your help. Unfortunately my SD is only 2GB and it says there is not enough room to place to the new files on the SD. I guess I will have to buy a larger card when I can (which sucks I was sooo close). I just wanted to make sure I thanked you for all the help and advice and walking this noob through it. Again thanks I really appreciated it

Something is very wrong there. Those two files are tiny. And they are replacing files already there so should take no more room. You were probably not taking the card out and putting in your PC. You were probably plugging in the USB cable. You need to do the first thing. Put card in PC.
Edit: Something is really wrong with your Mac. First it will not download or read the zips right, then it will not let you rename the rom .zip and now it will not let you copy files to the boot partition. It is your Mac that is the problem, not the card size.

I was placing the card into the PC. Also I didnt use my Mac for the card, I used a Windows PC. I followed all the instructions from verygreen when making the card and used Winimage to write it. When I insert the card into my computer I get two different files a boot that contains the boot.bin file and the ram and image files. And then there is a seperate file/drive on the sd labeled SD cm7.
If I make a new SD card, do I use verygreens' image file and then add your two files or do I use your two files only or is there another file I am missing? I might end up paying the 40 for the SD card already done, though I really hate t spend the money if I could just get it right.
Anyway thanks for everything....again!!! and I am sorry for my incompetence
(continued from above) I am attaching screenshots of what the SD card contains when i plug it into the computer.

If you are going to start fresh, use my image zip file. Follow verygreen's instructions but use my image file. It is on the same post you got the updated files. It already has the updated files on it. Then it will install the rom zips that have the new naming standard (cm-).

If I pull the card out does it go back to being a nook??
Again Thank you soo much
Yes. But to get back to stock to just run it, press the n key while the cyanoboot logo first shows and the boot menu comes up. Then you can choose to boot to emmc, which in your case is stock. Or just take the card out.

You put it on the root of your sd card and just use TWRP but you have to be on version 2.8.6.0 if you want to flash images which is what that is.

Well after you're done downloading that extract it first but you should have a program on the computer to extract with... I use winrar because it's easy and does everything... After you extract it you need to get it onto your SD card but make sure it's in the root of the SD and not inside of any folder and then go in TWRP and wipe system dalvic, cache and data and then go back and restore/install the stock rom you're downloading now.

You need to get that whole file on your sd card but first let's try to just drop the entire file you downloaded the ".rar" and wipe the system like I said and go into TWRP and click install and see if it installs if it doesn't come back and let me know.

I figured it wasn't gonna show the rar file so do this one.
The next thing you should try is this... Use your computer to navigate inside of your sd card and look for this and click TWRP and then click Backups then you should see a folder similar to this FA48XSR09828 (but not the same as mine) click into that one and then take the entire extracted folder this one "cricketstock2014-12-22" and copy it in there and yes it needs to be in this folder so you need to somehow get it in there..

After you get that entire folder into your TWRP backup folder go back to wipe and wipe the thing's I mentioned and then go back again and this time click restore and you should see the cricketstock2014-12-22 folder tap to install that.

Alright do this then... Put your SD card back in the phone, boot into TWRP and then click backup and then make sure it's NOT set to try backing up to your internal storage make sure it says SD or ext_sd and then backup the broken system you have because this will then create that backup folder you need on your SD card that you can't find since you never made a backup up before after it creates the folders go ahead and copy the cricket folder in there then go back to the main screen and tap restore and then you should see the folder you copied in there as long as TWRP is set to external storage if it says internal again then change it back.

just make a backup the normal way. Just go into TWRP and tap backup and go from there until it's done backing up the messed up system. You only need to do this so we can get the stock recovery into the backup folder that you can't find.
