[Q] Urgent problems please help. - Nook Color General

So I LOVEEE my nook but alas some how the sd card slot just randomly broke. I completely mean that too, one moment the sd card was inside the nook and the next it decided to pop out and will not go back in. The new plan is to use my warranty and get a new one, but I'm running cm7. Is there anyway without an sd card to return to stock?
edit: found solution but in case anyone else had this problem here is a perfect thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1188513

I did the same a month ago or so. Had to physically hold the card in while I restored the stock ROM before I sent it back. This is why I tell people not to excessively swap their cards in and out. Run CM& internally or set the card up with dual boot. Mine card slot failed and I had not touched the card since June.

[Q] SD Card won't Stay In

Alright, someone has had a similar problem but not exactly this one. I went to begin my book tonight only to get "SD Card not Found." I turn around my Nook, notice the SD Card has popped out, I try to shove it in, it makes the clicking noise but pops back out... I repeat, it pops back out ...any suggestions?
Edit: Tried 2 different SD cards

Yeah, kind of confirmed what I already knew but didn't want to admit to myself. This should be fun returning to stock.
If you're running any of the rooted stock roms(1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.1.0), and if I remember correctly, there should be a way through adb to set the nook up to self-reboot 8 times and kick in the factory reset. Without you having to touch it. Try looking through the development forum and nookdevs, I know it's in there somewhere.
restore using the stock images using a bootable SD card and 1.0.1 image and just hold the sd card in with your fingernail (or your girlfriends if you don't have any). It'll mean a slightly achey and tired finger but it works.
I had exactly this problem with my first Nook 2 months ago. I didn't notice that it had popped out until after a failed rooting (autonooter) attempt. I was convinced that I had bricked my nook.
A bad microSD slot is a deal breaker. You NEED that slot to work. Take it back while you still can. (The gargoyle at the WalMart that I returned to scrutinized the serial numbers intensely, but didn't even turn the thing on)

[Q] Bad SD Card or Bad SD card slot, or Defective NC, or Bad operator?

Yesterday I used autonooter 3.0.0 to try to root my NC 1.1.0. It would not boot up or turn on at all. Today when I go home from work, I plugged it into my PC and was told battery was too low to boot. I charged it to 100%, then it booted up. I checked, and to my surprise I was still on version 1.1.0. So, it was not bricked.
Today I tried autonooter 3.0.0....same result. My NC won't turn on...and when I plug it into my PC. I get a "RNDIS\Ethernet Gadget" found message, then the "Found New Hardware Wizard" opens up.
Is my sd card flaky, is the card not properly seated in the NC, or is the NC card slot bad? I tried booting a CWR card to restore my NC, but get the same messages.
I plan to wait till tomorrow and hope the battery drains, so that after a re-charge I will be back in 1.1.0. Then, I plan to take it back to B&N for an exchange...unless someone knows what my problem really is.
Autonooter does its thing with the screen off. It sounds like one of your boots was Autonooter working, because it was installing drivers for ADB. Plugging it in, w/ Autonooter in SD is what starts it. Maybe you just keep booting from the SD card, and only by plugging it into the computer was it able to do what it was supposed to.
You may be right, but right now the NC won't turn on.
Any idea if a HARD Reset will solve that?
I followed the instructions to a T. I even downloaded a new Autonooter 3 file. After writing to the card, I was able to view it and saw the 4 files and file sizes...very similar to those show in the instructions. I inserted the card in the NC, plugged it into the PC, .......black screen. I waited 30 minutes, but it never booted. I disconnected and removed the sd card. The NC would not turn on..........again. Failure # 3.
With the card out, I plugged it in to the PC again, and to my surprise, it turned on. It was still at v 1.1.0.
I transferred some mp3's, and all is good. I'm at a loss to know what to do next. I feel sure there is a problem with the sd card or the sd card slot. Since I am within 14 days of purchase, I think I will take it back to B&N, and try to exchange it for another new one.
Not sure how Autoneooter 3 is but the original 12.25 works great every one I did. Just go 1.0.1 full restore and then do the original autonooter and then the 1.1.0b through CW ZIP.
Most of what you posted didn't sound like anything was really wrong at all.
I do think wonky cards do mess it up though. try it for a while with a different card or no card to find out. You can also take your card and do a full format.

[Q] 15.73MB TOTAL storage Shows in "ABOUT"

there are four problems in my HD7:
1. After I setup Zune, and connect my HD7 to MY PC,but my PC still cannot find the device.
2. In "About", the total storage shows 15.73MB. and 10.12MB can be used.
3.every time I run application in HD7, it always indicates storage limit.
4.After I hard reset my HD7, the screen stays in the flahing and in the middle shows HTC. It has lasted several hours.
who can help me?!!! Save my HD7, save the World. SORRY for my poor English.
I would say, go to service, seems you got a bad sdcard in your hd7
I agree. Either replace the SD card yourself (if you want to try that), or take it back to your store and get it replaced.
I am having the same problem as the OP... I am going back to T-Mobile tomorrow
Happened to me as well, hard reset fixed it...
i had that problem with my brand new hd7, all i did was take the lower back part off and pull the sd card out a lil and push it back on and it worked perfect after that so i guess it just needed re seated.
Bad SD card is more possible. You can search for a SD card changing tutorial and swap a new card into it (and OF COURSE you can swap a fresh good 32GB card to it to give it more room.)
My advice is to send back if it's still under warranty.
Mine was like not in warranty so I will swap cards.

Did you dropped your unit or accidentaly bump it? Coz this might be the reason to make the micro sd loose a bit.

[Q] Nook color power off loop for cm7 and froyo sd installs

A couple of days ago my dad got my sister and me nook colors. I installed honeycomb which ran off the sd card on both and rooted both. I was tired of not having YouTube flash and many other apps so I tried out froyo and cm7. After about 50 unsuccessful installs I have decided I must have a hardware problem because they will run on my sisters nook.
The problem is that after the install, it boots off the sd card and loads android completely but when it asks to complete with setup wizard or
Default action it freezes up for a second and shuts off. After I boot again it just says "Powering Down."
I don't know if I should try a native install or go return this one. I already restored it completely to factory conditions so they won't be able to tell. I have searched everywhere and cannot find this anywhere else (problem or solution).
I just find it so strange how it works on the other nook color but not mine. Even setting it up on hers and moving it to mine produces the same issue. I probably will return it unless someone can help me but I'm more curious to what the problem is than how to fix it, since I can simply go get a new one.
Any help is appreciated!
****bump****
Thats certainly a new one. I only have one nook so ive never tried them side by side. Ive never been able too successfully boot off an sd card and have it stable. I eventually just decided to go to cm7 internal and never looked back. I wonder if theres something different in the nook in how it reads from the sd card.
are you overclocking the image? or running it stock?
you said you set it up on your sisters nook then move it to yours and you have problems. did you try taking her good, working build and moving that sd card to your nook and seeing if the problems go away. Ive read alot about sd cards and different quality's of cards. maybe theres something up with the sd card you have.
I have problems no matter what. If i put it on hers to setup, it still has the problem. If i set it up on mine, still has the problem. I just tried phiremod v6.1 and it also had the problem (i expected this because it is still cm7). I probably will return it but i wish they would just update these things to android 2.2/2.3 and maybe even full honeycomb when it comes out and save all of us from these issues.
The image is the normal one. I have tried installing directly to the sd, using the "SD CARD TEMPLATE" files that you install and then boot from to install cm7, etc.
They all work on the other nook but mine is being stubborn for some reason.
I am at the airport getting ready to fly home and i might try installing it internally tomorrow. I just don't want to have this problem again and have to spend a bunch of time reinstalling the stock rom to return it.
I completely understand your frustration, especially since you have 2 and are not seeing the same thing on both. Are you experiencing any other problems with the device. based on what your telling me i would have to assume there is something wrong with the sd card slot.
but if you forget about your sisters nook for a min, what you are describing is exactly what i experienced on my nook. that's why i went for internal. I started with the dual boot, but found that i stopped using the stock rom pretty quickly, and with the slow ports of cm7 to dual boot, i just scrapped dual booting all together, and now im full cm7 and its great.

I tried the internal install, but it is doing the same thing. I am recovering the stock image right now. Thanks for the help, but I am just going to take it back and get a new one and not root it or anything and just install it to the sd card.
I have the same problem too.

[Q] SD Card makes 5830i **** laggy.

Hello everyone,
Today, I just received the dreaded "blank SD or unsupported file system" all of a sudden from the stock Samsung 2GB Micro SD Card. Everything gone, Card Fried.
But then I tried to put in a separate memory card into the phone. It's a Kingston 2GB. But the moment I even put it in, the whole phone freezes into oblivion. Only when I take it out and wait 5 seconds, will the phone run at normal speeds again.
Another issue is that I am unable to format the aforementioned Kingston Card from the phone. When I try to do so, the phone just says Erasing... then it stops. When I try to press the Mount SD card option, phone just freezes, until, of course, I remove the card and wait 5 seconds.
All this suddenly happened today. I have been owning this 5830i for about 2 months now, no problems, and suddenly today...
Any insight into these issue are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
To help give a more visual approach to this problem, I have decided to take some time off to create a video.

Hope this clarifies things.
OMG what is this shenanigans? I just put the KINGSTON card into the phone and waited two hours, and the phone had the cheek to work normally again. Yay its solved, but I still find this issue to be very strange. Fickle phone, I guess.
I just found a solution to the Kingston Card Lag Problem.
Go google Panasonic SD Formatter and Format the SD Card using a card reader. Then put the card back in the phone and the Card will work normally again.
umm umm. lol?
