My LTE Speedtest Results in San Antonio
Wow. Nice speed there. I'll have to take a drive to San Antonio this weekend just to mess around with my phone lol.
The highest I have seen with a phone in Dallas is 46/14 and with the USB dongle 46/24.
I am more impressed with the latency. It usually runs ~55ms. That really blows UMTS out of the water and makes web pages load *much* faster.
I got some decent speeds in Dallas. Including a consistent 25 and 26 up with one and 2 bars as well as 45 up a few times on full bars.

Gotta love living in the 210!!
LoL I just realized something. Everyone posting in here is some where in Texas.
Yah for some reason they love to deploy it in Texas which I have no idea why? You would think you would deploy this in the bigger cities first. I don't see why Washington D.C., etc. wouldn't be a top priority.

Just a shot in the dark here but... Would you want to create a new product that may or may not work 100% out of the gate in a large or small city?
If they have problems in the beginning, it's much less newsworthy in San Antonio than say New York City.
Make sense if you think about it.
I have created and launched technical products before and I can tell you that the last thing I wanted to do is sell it to a huge customer right out of the gate. Better to mess up in the small cities with fewer customers than to have an Epic fail in a large city.

Oh and I think it might have a little to do with the fact that their headquarters are here in Texas (Dallas) and lots of corporate operations still here in San Antonio.

Dallas is the 4th largest city in the US. And here are my results

WOW!!! Wish I had LTE here... I've been trying to find a roll out schedule for the rest of the country but can only find select cities (all large). Tell me... is your data consistent on LTE? I often try to use data (browser, speed test, insert other random app here) and get NO data connection at all... I have manually put in a second APN which seems to help but it's flaky at best.
Thanx

I've seen my connection drop to hspa+ maybe twice since Monday when I got the phone and even that was only for a moment. So yes the speeds are incredibly consistent. From what I understand, Dallas' lte covers a 240 mile radius.

Do you happen to know where you found this info? I'm looking for something similar for the Atlanta area but can't find it. I know LTE is working about 25 miles north of the city but that's all I know for now.

I was told by a rep at the AT&T store. I was glad I got to talk to him because most of the time I deal with idiots there. He seemed to know his stuff.

Out of curiosity, why did you drop Sprint? I think the coverage is really good around here, and a hell of a lot faster than Tmobile. The SERO looks really good.

I am not a fan of T-Mobile, but Sprint was in a CEO fireing / putting in a new one and for about a year had zero new phones release and no support for what they had. They kept tweeking their billing and website. Since I only do billing online there was a two month period where I couldnt log in to the website because it told me I must register, I had been registered for two years. Called for help and they said just pay the paper bill this month....I dont get a paper bill They said we'll get back to you and never did lol. Ended up spending 20 minutes in a store trying to pay my bill while the 10 year old employees had to figure out what to do, ended up having to call someone for help lol. I can understand stupid / new workers but someone in the store should know whats going on.
When I started with them I was very happy but then in the last two years they just dropped the ball on customer service, support and quality. The network itself I never had any real problems with. Most network issues I had were usually the handset they only sold for a few months and then never supported hehe.
Someday I could go back, however Verizon has it more together at the moment, and I am actually very pleased with the price and help / support I have gotten from AT&T. Ontop of the fact I like just buying whatever phone I want that works on the frequencies and not having to diddle about with the provider is nice. I love the REV-A speed possibilities but HSDPA has good speed which for me at the moment will be more than I need when they roll it out here. Coverage has not really concerned me in the last 3 - 4 years since almost everywhere has coverage of some sort.

My family and I are going to go out of town with my cousins for Spring Break but we don't know where to go. We live in Chicago, IL and we can't fly so we need somewhere we can drive to. Probably like 4 - 5 hours drive from here. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hmm, from Chicago, let me think here.
I hear that Nashville and Memphis have a really fun nightlife.
Cedar Point, although I'm not that big into rollercoasters.
My good friend said he loved Indianapolis, but I don't believe him.
Cleveland and Detroit are dumps.
Pittsburgh is fun, but smaller than Chicago.
I'm sure you've been to St. Louis many times.
No I've just moved here actually... and from Detroit too. Loll. But yeah. I don't know. We have to get away for lik, 3 nights. So idkk.
When are you going? Honestly, if you're into rollercoasters and the weather is nice, go to Cedar Point.
If you're not into that and into cities or beaches...
Beaches...good luck. The great lakes are TERRIBLE places for beaches. Might as well fly to the coast.
Cities...I recommend going to St. Louis, Nashville, or Memphis. All cities, I'd definitely visit and all are said to have a good nightlife and regional cuisine.
I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere and not New York City because then I could stay home every night and watch hockey games via the NHL package. Engaging in that behavior here would make me feel like a loser.
But then I probably wouldn't need an Evo being so reclusive!

I know there are a number of speed test threads for the Nexus 4 but I want this one to be specifically for mobilicity and wind customers.
I have mobilicity's fake 4g premium data.. network type is set to lte/gsm/CDMA auto
Here are 7 test results with a peak of 10mbps down anyone on wind or Mobilicity will know that the speeds are unheard of.
These tests show an average speed of around 8 Mb but typical speeds are generally much closer to the 3.5 to 4 MB range.

Where in Mississauga did you take these speeds? I'm so thrilled.
Near heartland and about 1 km away from a newly erected tower (Terry fox and eglinton).
Keep in mind these were taken on a Saturday morning between 10-1130 (minimal congestion)

Wind doesn't have a great network, but when you pay $29 a month for unlimited everything you don't expect lightning quick download speeds. I was with them for awhile but I had to switch back to Rogers for reliability purposes. Still, those are good speeds for wind. Hopefully they continue to improve their network.

i dont know if they changed it, but when i had my galaxy nexus before nov 13, i was on basic data and i couldnt get more than 2 mbps, but i did get around 800kbps upload,
i wonder if got the fast speeds for basic data users too now, if not im going to switch to premium data
I managed to get 12 mbps down on wind at major mac and weston thats using Htc One S

I wouldn't feel sorry for me. As stated above, I pay $24.25/month for my BTS plan with unlimited local calling, unlimited text and unlimited data.
Can you find me a comparable plan in the States?
Wind here on HMP (no premium data) $45 Unlimited everything taxes in
3MBPS is my max DL. Home and office have towers within 1km> radius. Good enough to stream Netflix and I can watch Walking Dead with no pixelation. I exceed 5GB of data per month and would love to have 10MBPS but for extra $10 no way. The speed now is good enough for me. It's bearable.
I'm on mobilicity on the BTS (BACK TO SCHOOL PLAN), and I always get at least 1.5 - 2Mbps, (On my lg optimus one), the data's not that great but I love having unlimited everything. Can't wait to get a nexus 4.

Let's not forget the coverage is pretty limited and the network is largely hit or miss.
To the OP, I think you are one of the first people I've seen with actual HSPA+ speeds on Mobi with their premium add-on. On the other hand, having to pay an extra $20 for that add-on kinda ruins the low-price idea of Mobi in my opinion.
To address multiple posts keep in mind that mobile is city is no contract. There is no denying that coverage is shoddy but at 40/month with no lock in and unlimited everything I'm not complaining.
To the previous poster: I actually only pay 40 dollars a month including the premium. I was actually on the friends and family plan for 35 dollars and in order to get the premium data I had to switch to 1 of the new plans which pissed me off.
I got in touch with Stewart Lyons and he personally saw to it that I got what I wanted. Ended up getting the new 50 percent off plans with everything I currently have plus extra roaming minutes and premium data for 5 dollars more than what I was previously paying.
All that said though the speeds are not consistent and I would really love to have 20 + MB/s... not willing to switch to one if the big 3 on a three year contract for that.

LOL that's it? Everything is so F-ing [email protected] here in Canada we're pathetic to be considered one of the top cities to live in the world. We can't even produce an Octopus card for our public transit system. How about capping our Internet? I could go on and on.
I'd still choose to live here over the US though (well, IF I really had to move to the US I'd move to Hawaii).

If you don't travel much then it doesn't matter.
the most i got was 8mbs, what is the best setting for hspa+, right now i keep it as cdma/gsm auto, to the OP you put lte/cdma/gsm, when LTE isnt supported whats the point
Yea I pretty much can't argue with that.
To previous post there really is no point I just do it on the off chance that it picks up layaway frequency and boosts my dbm.
The fact that I have an LTE microsim just makes it intuitive for me to want to keep it on that setting you never know what impact it may or may not have.

It's really frustrating when Mobilicity caps my $600 Note 2 at 2 mbps. $25 is a great deal though.
So I guess this is more of a rant than anything but I am SO damn pissed off about it. I have had Sprint a little over a year and half and unfortunately made the choice to upgrade early so my contract is still quite long at this point. Anyway, I live in Albuquerque New Mexico and am SO fed up with the slow spotty service, not having any data 80% of the time and the other 20% being SUPER slow 3G/!1X. Is there anyway to get out from under the contract without paying the ETF? I mean I drove 10 miles the other night re-sending a text because the service is just that bad in my area. Good friend of mine has T-Mobile and gets a super reliable 25 mbps down with 4G while I'm lucky to get .2 mbps on Sprint's 3g. End rant!
Oh OK ?

No way of getting out of ETF, trust me I tried. They told me as long as it shows you have coverage where you live and all that there's no way out without the ETF. You could just stick your phone on roam only and torrent a bunch of crap. Eventually they'll get tired of the data you use while roaming and kick you off I believe.

bvang89 is correct. This is what i'm doing, have already gotten the letter in mail saying if roaming doesn't stop they'll drop me. If LTE shows up in my area like it shows on their map, roaming will stop.
We've had terrible service in our area for about a month. First rep told us that it would be fixed in 72 hours. Second rep told us that it was literally just fixed, a week later. Third rep told us that the towers were still being repaired and that they didn't know when it'll get fixed, but they'll take a comparable credit off our bill (10%, real ****ing comparable). Her supervisor told us that we were lying, that our problem had been fixed two days after the initial call, and that our phones had 99% to 100% functional.
Sprint can **** off.
Same crap in Minnesota. I will switch to t mobile after my contact is up. The service may be just as bad,but at least it will be cheaper.

File a complaint with the BBB, you will get a phone call in about 3-5 days and tell them you are done. They will waive your ETF.
They told me the LTE upgrade will be complete in my area in January. And they offered me a hefty discount on my service until then. I also have it set to review the same case in the end of January and if its not better I'm out of sprint as well.
This is a bad year for anyone to be in sprint but I monitor service trender every day and all across america they truly are working on the towers. Pretty much all of them. Its called network vision. Things will get a lot better for most people and in the meantime you can easily get an airrave device for free. Works great. We have tons of customers that's been getting the device recently due to all the upgrades and say it works perfectly. It won't get you out of your etf but it will give you service in your home. You can also call retentions and they WILL give you credits on your bill because of this. I had several call and one got as much as a $200 credit and all he said was "I'm dropping calls and I rely on this for work". They even overnighted an airave to his home
Retentions: ( 888 ) 273-9460
Airrave: ( 855 ) 405-4098
Both those numbers are direct numbers to a live person. Be nice at first. Explain the situation. If you don't like what you hear at first explain more thoroughly the importance of the matter and if you still can't get your issue resolved then threaten to cancel port to another carrier on your next day off from work.
In the meantime watch or listen to "cell phones and flying" by Louis CK

South florida for the most part has pretty decent LTE service, though I will say that I've tested all over my area (West Palm Beach), and have gotten a high of 31down/13up and a low of 6down/3up while showing LTE service on my device. I will offer one caveat...it's usually hit or miss INSIDE buildings.
I've complained to Sprint when I couldn't get a phone I bought for my daughter to hands free activate properly inside my house due to lack of service. I was asked about an Airrave device, but it seemed more that they were looking to SELL it to me than GIVE it to me. I honestly should demand it, as I routinely drop calls inside my house or have to walk outside to continue talking. I must say that even though the service I get with my discount through my company isn't extreme given the number and type of devices I have and the data we use, I still sometimes feel like I'm not getting a very good value.

I'd never use VZW or ATT.
VZW is the choice of my ex-wife, hence they are the devil and are to be destroyed or at least avoided at all cost.
ATT screwed me over back when first gen IPhone came out....after 2 months, I decided the device was stupid and sold it to someone for the exact same $300 I paid for it (sucker)....called ATT and cancelled the line....well, they left it open for 5 more months (of course not sending me a bill so I would KNOW this), then sent me to collections for the $300 bucks. Hence, they are the devil and are to be destroyed or at least avoided at all cost.
