I know there are a number of speed test threads for the Nexus 4 but I want this one to be specifically for mobilicity and wind customers.
I have mobilicity's fake 4g premium data.. network type is set to lte/gsm/CDMA auto
Here are 7 test results with a peak of 10mbps down anyone on wind or Mobilicity will know that the speeds are unheard of.
These tests show an average speed of around 8 Mb but typical speeds are generally much closer to the 3.5 to 4 MB range.

Where in Mississauga did you take these speeds? I'm so thrilled.
Near heartland and about 1 km away from a newly erected tower (Terry fox and eglinton).
Keep in mind these were taken on a Saturday morning between 10-1130 (minimal congestion)

Wind doesn't have a great network, but when you pay $29 a month for unlimited everything you don't expect lightning quick download speeds. I was with them for awhile but I had to switch back to Rogers for reliability purposes. Still, those are good speeds for wind. Hopefully they continue to improve their network.

i dont know if they changed it, but when i had my galaxy nexus before nov 13, i was on basic data and i couldnt get more than 2 mbps, but i did get around 800kbps upload,
i wonder if got the fast speeds for basic data users too now, if not im going to switch to premium data
I managed to get 12 mbps down on wind at major mac and weston thats using Htc One S

I wouldn't feel sorry for me. As stated above, I pay $24.25/month for my BTS plan with unlimited local calling, unlimited text and unlimited data.
Can you find me a comparable plan in the States?
Wind here on HMP (no premium data) $45 Unlimited everything taxes in
3MBPS is my max DL. Home and office have towers within 1km> radius. Good enough to stream Netflix and I can watch Walking Dead with no pixelation. I exceed 5GB of data per month and would love to have 10MBPS but for extra $10 no way. The speed now is good enough for me. It's bearable.
I'm on mobilicity on the BTS (BACK TO SCHOOL PLAN), and I always get at least 1.5 - 2Mbps, (On my lg optimus one), the data's not that great but I love having unlimited everything. Can't wait to get a nexus 4.

Let's not forget the coverage is pretty limited and the network is largely hit or miss.
To the OP, I think you are one of the first people I've seen with actual HSPA+ speeds on Mobi with their premium add-on. On the other hand, having to pay an extra $20 for that add-on kinda ruins the low-price idea of Mobi in my opinion.
To address multiple posts keep in mind that mobile is city is no contract. There is no denying that coverage is shoddy but at 40/month with no lock in and unlimited everything I'm not complaining.
To the previous poster: I actually only pay 40 dollars a month including the premium. I was actually on the friends and family plan for 35 dollars and in order to get the premium data I had to switch to 1 of the new plans which pissed me off.
I got in touch with Stewart Lyons and he personally saw to it that I got what I wanted. Ended up getting the new 50 percent off plans with everything I currently have plus extra roaming minutes and premium data for 5 dollars more than what I was previously paying.
All that said though the speeds are not consistent and I would really love to have 20 + MB/s... not willing to switch to one if the big 3 on a three year contract for that.

LOL that's it? Everything is so F-ing [email protected] here in Canada we're pathetic to be considered one of the top cities to live in the world. We can't even produce an Octopus card for our public transit system. How about capping our Internet? I could go on and on.
I'd still choose to live here over the US though (well, IF I really had to move to the US I'd move to Hawaii).

the most i got was 8mbs, what is the best setting for hspa+, right now i keep it as cdma/gsm auto, to the OP you put lte/cdma/gsm, when LTE isnt supported whats the point
Yea I pretty much can't argue with that.
To previous post there really is no point I just do it on the off chance that it picks up layaway frequency and boosts my dbm.
The fact that I have an LTE microsim just makes it intuitive for me to want to keep it on that setting you never know what impact it may or may not have.

So I've just been notified that i am in the top 5% of data usage and I have been throttled BIG TIME. From getting 8000-10,000kb down to now only getting 150 down. Are you kidding me att?
The kicker is I've only used 2gb of data! Is this att's way of finally trying to make the unlimited plan disappear?

Damn... wish I could say I didn't expect this.
If I begin to get throttled at 2GB, I will request a hard copy of the report of all AT&T users Data usage... seems only fair if they can determine I am in the top 5%, that I should be able to see their proof... Plus I assume it would cost them a bt of money to print that and mail it.
Thankfully it has not happened yet.
It may be regional. I am near ny. Point is this. If 3 months ago the top 5% of user were getting double digits in data usage, how the help does that drop so fast when more and more people are getting fast smart phones that use more data.
Something is fishy.
Where are the lawyers on this forum. This is the end of unlimited data as we know it. **** you AT&T
Yeah, unfortunately its not the top 5% of users, its the top 5% of "unlimited" users. All these people that are getting smartphones or have got smartphones in the last almost 2 years cant get unlimited data unless they already had it and are grandfathered in. As people change their data plans for plans with tethering, leave AT&T, or just drop their unlimited data for one reason or another, stop being factored into that number. As the number of unlimited users drop, so will the amount of data that you have to use to be considered to be in the top 5%.
The fields from which they use are plan-unlimited platform-android then they narrow it down to LTE and since there are not alot if LTE users especially with unlimited they do it quick I have a sgs ii with unlimited and I was at 6gb on hspa and 3g and 3 gb on my vivid , guess which one got the throttle message.....
I went crazy on att about this , I got credit but its automated....

You will probably probably see it soon. They didn't even send me a notice telling me that I'm approaching top 5% and I wasn't even at 3GB. I remember it happened exactly a week ago on the 1st of the month, as I watching some clips in the afternoon and everything was just as usual, then later that night when I popped open the browser, NOTHING would load correctly. NOTHING!!! Freakin eh...
At first I thought I had a bad connection, then when I got to an area to 5 bars it was still giving me 150. I switched apn and got hspa speed back and thought maybe ATT is doing some maintenance work or something, they couldn't be throttling me at a shade below 3GB. Needless to say, my billing cycle starts on the 3rd of the month and of course LTE came back on.....THROTTLED!!!!!
If they are going to throttle (not that I agree throttling at 2GB is right, because it is downright RIDICULOUS), at least cap it to a speed where people can still somewhat browse the web, 150 is F*cking stupid. Normally I'm not a person to display extreme anger in forums, but this has gotten me to be pretty pissed at how they are BSing the unlimited customers.
So what can we do about this? Can we get some sort of class action lawsuit going? I dont know how to do any of this but I think we have the right to make a big stink about this.
Face it we are getting ****ed right now!

It's their way of thanking us for being customers of theirs over the years. I was Cingular before att bought them. Gsm carriers that can compete against the titans are not in my area. Sad times indeed
Edit: Does anyone have a few billion dollars lying around or some wealthy investors that would be interested in starting up another US cellular company? Lol. No or sparse competition has allowed this to happen

I got throttled once I hit 2GB too. So unlimited means <2GB at LTE speeds for $30 but you can pay $30 for 3GB. Got to give it to ATT, unlimited data but speed will vary drastically. For me it was less than 100KB. From 20MBps to 100kbps. Pretty sad.

Yup, but lte users can create a HSPA APN and avoid the throttle while using the HSPA network.
Please explain. Becuase I normally use the stock pta apn, but also have the hspa+ one and the wap.Cingular one that I have added in, and all of them were throttled the same for me.

First of all I want to apologize to the folks on the XDA site for being so upset over the Google play store issue on launch day, but I am a person who has never been afraid to admit when I have been out of line. Now that I have got that out of the way, I went to my T-Mobile store today and was the first one in line and YES, I now have in my possession a Nexus 4 16 gig model connected to the T-Mobile US network.
It was a $199.00 plus tax with the upgrade which I was going to do anyways because to me T-Mobile is the best bang for buck for unlimited data and voice. I wanted to share my first day experience of using Nexus 4:
My first impression was how nice it felt in my hand compared to my GNEX and the build quality is excellent. The front and rear glass panels are a little slippery, but the rubber edge helps to keep a nice grip on the phone.
Once I installed my Sim card and connected to the network and set the phone up to my Google account using the typical Google OS setup screens, I received a system update from Google which took in few minutes, but was smooth and painless.
The screen is fantastic and I noticed how much more responsive the keyboard was compared to my GNEX. The screen is very responsive when selecting apps and I noticed no lag when swiping between screens, not bad for a stock ROM right out of the box. The colors are crisp and the blacks are much more rich then the previous Nexus models.
The 3G and HSPA+ network speeds are plenty fast for me and the lack of 4G is not an issue for me and I think will suit the majority of users like me who use the device for what it was intended for, a phone and PDA.
The WIFI connected right up with my home and business clients networks without any issues, I haven't tried the Bluetooth or NFC functions because I rarely use them for my everyday needs.
The new 4.2 Jellybean OS is fast and has just enough extra tweaks to make this a worthwhile upgrade, I would still wish they would include a battery percentage function in the display options, but I would think that will be on it's way in a future custom ROM down the road.
I know it's not like the technical reviews like some of the ones out there, but for me the half hour I waited in line with the other 4 loyal nexus users this morning to get the 4 phones they had in stock was well worth the wait. I sold my beloved GNEX to a developer friend of mine this morning for 200 dollars so my new phone cost me nothing for out of pocket expense. It doesn't get any better then that.
Regarding battery percentage. It's in the notification pull down quick settings I thought.

What kind of plans does T-Mobile offer for two ? Do they have a good shared plan like ATT for like $150, unlimited minutes and texts, and shared 4GB.

Yep it's not possible, but in a bright environment, you won't notice any difference in the black levels, and the screen on the Nexus 4 is 2 times brighter which could lead to the impression of richer blacks.
How's your WiFi connection on the new phone compared to your Gnex? Do you get a better signal, better range, and possibly speeds than before?

They currently charge $70 for unlimited calls, texts, and 4G data. Do you have an additional discount to bring it to $60? I'm planning to go with the $30 prepaid plan (5GB of 4G data, unlimited texts, 100 min) because I barely do any calling, and it's such a steal.

They probably meant the 'Unlimited - Plus' data plan with 4G speeds only up to 2GB (slower speeds after, but still unlimited)... that one is in fact $60 for a single line (vs. the 'Unlimited Nationwide 4G' data plan that puts you at $70):
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/Packages/ValuePackages.aspx
The $60 one is the one I'm switching to as well... I don't need that much fast data so 2GB is more than enough for me.

Some people, including myself, have the old Even More Plus plan from t-mobile. Pretty much the same as the $69.99 plan they have now but it's $59.99. They canned EM+ and replaced it with Value Plans that aren't nearly as good a deal because you have to sign a two year contract but don't get any subsidy.

The S3 and its AMOLED screen is nearly impossible to see in any sort of sunlight, so that's where the additional brightness will be invaluable.
so i lost my udp, but now have 12g of data. im curious what size data plans everyone has and what you actually use. having never had a tiered data plan before now im paranoid im gonna go over. with the udp i tethered my phone instead of getting home internet, during my last move i broke down and set up roadrunner.
I have an All-you-can-eat tariff average usage is about 15-20GB per month. But looking at the way you've worded your post I'm going to assume you're in the States? Not sure you guys have tariffs that generous over there.
yea, im in the us. i used to have unlimited data, but my note 2 is almost dead and with 3 kids and having moved a few weeks ago funds to flat buy outright just isnt there. i used to download torrents, tether, run netflix, ect daily. i would average 40-50 gigs a month, but that was with no home internet though.
I'm on a grandfathered AT&T "unlimited" data plan with my Note 2. I use just short of 5 GB per month on average. I get AT&T's throttle warning on the last day of the month many times.
I'm on wifi at work and at home, so data is really only used in the car.
I'm on ATT grandfather plan. I used about on avg 18-20gb a month, throttled after 5gb.
If I wasn't throttled I'd probably use double or so.
Probably the main reason I'm thinking of switching to Tmobile since they don't throttle on their highest plan. But I'm getting pos/neg responses about their services.
Anyone have it in Orange, CA area with advice?
I avg about 16gb on Tmobile unlimited. I have good coverage at home and at work. I live in GA.
Verizon unlimited, I use anywhere from 4-8 GB a month.
Sprint unlimited, between me and my wife.....around 15 - 17 a month. I have a friend though that has T - Mobile and uses somewhere between 30 - 60 GB a month. He also once cause they said there wasn't a limit used 3500 GB.
T-Mobile unlimited and use about 20 a month, also about another 3 of tethering. I had Sprint and could only use about 5-6 because the network was so slow on the Note 3.

T-Mobile Unlimited. Normally under 20GB a month. No house usage though as I have 50mb/20mb business connection at the house.
I am grandfathered into the ATT Unlimited. I grow angry every time I hit 5gb....the throttling is horrible. I use my phone for the GPS daily and I hit some high data marks. Its frustrating. I actually call and ***** about the throttling everytime I hit it. It makes me that mad. Unlimited, yes, but I need full speed for all data I use. Still happy with ATT, but that one think may make or break it after 10 yrs.
Verizon unlimited. I'm anywhere from 30 to 80 GB a month depending on how many ROMs I download. ☺
I have the sprint $60.00 unlimited everything, most I have used is 50GB. This month I have used 20GB.

I pay for my unlimited. Period. I travel a lot and do not have access to steady WiFi all the time. I don't care what you think to be honest. I'm about to hit 300 gigs and it's only the 7th.
356gb.. All data

Hell yeah! Haha haha. To the lames saying this is abusing the data stfu you just mad your petty ass isn't grandfathered on the TRUELY unlimited plan. We pay for our services, we have the right to use how much or little we please

Im currently at 355GB thanks to unlmited data and LTE using my XBox One to download those full 30+GB games and online gaming.
You know....as much as it would seem right to agree with the conservatives, you're right and it's pretty darn hard to argue against.
If you are paying for truly UNLIMITED service (most of us grandfathered in like me) then that means just that. TRULY UNLIMITED.
Last time I've checked, it didn't say FALSELY Unlimited.
For the few of you, quit the b!*#(ing already. UNLIMITED means UNLIMITED. This is TM's bad...don't claim something to entice people then turn around and try to set limits on that. That's called....hypocrite? Well they have...but oh well...at least it's made clear now with the current plans offered....fair enough. Full disclosure. Oh well....
It seems that the ones getting butt hurt over all this are the ones (some) who are not grandfathered? So it seems....jealous?
IMO though, I do think that for those who have WiFi available, to use that over LTE if you can, BUT again...that's the users rightful choice on what he/she wants to do with their UNLIMITED Data.
You have to remember, we're the ones getting robbed here. Not TM. They make plenty of money from those who are on set data limit plans.
Bottom line: Don't advertise something as Truly Unlimited just to get/entice customers and once your @$$ is full from eating, try and turn it around on the Customers.
Long live the Unlimited Data and Kudos to you Data nuts!
PERIOD.

Negative. I never liked any of the GTA games. Currently on Titanfall and COD.
I tried in the Note 3 forum but it's a cluster fu.. over there so I am gonna try here. Does anyone or has anyone used this plan? I want to switch to this one so I can use my phone as a hot spotfor my computer when I'm at home but I don't want to hit some fine print limit. So I'm hoping someone here has done the same in the past.

That will give you truly unlimited data from your phone, with I think 3gb of native tethering.
Do a search and you'll find a lot of answers on how to acomplish what you're trying to do.
Keywords: WiFi tether router
Hope this helps.

Thanks For The reply but that's not quite was I was asking about. Getting around the tethering limits is relatively easy I was curious if I use say 100gb playing like Final Fantasy 14 plus my normal usage will t-mobile come at me and say I've used to much data you know?

No, you will be fine.
Like I've said, do a search and you will see that people here are using hundreds of gigs, some even 1tb+. Truly unlimited is truly unlimited.
I do 300+gb a month and never experienced a slow down or anything of that nature.. Blast for it..

I hate how some people take advantage of *unlimited data. Eventually they will do away with it because of this type of use

+1
Some of these people who use it as a dedicated internet shouldn't advertise it.
this is not how T-mobile setup their plans.
$80 unlimited is phone only data. The plan included 5GB tethering over t-mobile hotspot app.
I hope carriers block the abusers and not punish us all

Agreed. We already went from $70 unlimited to now $80 unlimited.
??? Self-limited or Communty-limited, Unlimited Data ???
Why should someone who is paying for an unlimited data service, not utilize it as to their own prospective needs, or be punished/restricted for doing so???? Anyone urging the same for anyone elses say, TV usage??? Or HULU views??? Isn't it at all feasible, in this world of tolerance (haha), that someones legitimate needs might just be different from someone elses???
Wanna punish someone??? Why not suggest say, the Service Provider, who makes BILLIONS (in profit) annually, providing a service that CLEARLY does NOT cost what is charged, by any reasonable standard?!?!? And I'm OFF my SOAPBOX!!!
Sorry for the rant as well...

Consciously using and abusing versus using subconscious is different. Like me I don't monitor what I use. is use Wi-Fi when I can, etc. I don't rely on my MOBILE phone for my internet. Why don't they get an ISP for heavy use. If you use 100gb pm on a cellphone in a billing period, you must not work and thus you should have access to a WiFi network. To brag about using high amount of data is duh mm .. Learn the game! I'm thinking of the future I don't want them to punish all of a for a few defiant couch potatoes

This is America ...... EVERYTHING is over priced. That's a moot argument. My argument is on principal and moral. I'm not defending the business at all. They all can lower prices. But I like the idea when I use my LTE I don't have to count !megabytes, when people use LTE on purpose because they feel they can now we risk losing unlimited

I can see both the points. Eventually the "abusers" will lift the already high prices to an even higher point. That being said - we, as Americans, get absolutely raped on the cost of our service. Not to mention we are among the slowest in the world when we take what we pay into consideration. So part of me is saying "**** these corporate criminals..." Another part is saying "easy does it...don't ruin a relatively good thing..."

Im REALLY sorry NOW... That I said ANYTHING lol... Why didnt I think of those points to make?!?!?
The point of he T-Mobile network isn't about coverage it's about data that's what they advertise is the "data strong " network they have set up their network to handle the amount of data that is being used unlike the other carriers that have capped data

First of all jack ass I was throwing an arbitrary number out there. I have no idea how much data a MMO pulls. Secondly what's the difference between using a cell phone for my Internet and using Comcast besides I can get similar speed for a much better price using T-Mobile. I am only home for maybe two hours after work and that's enough time to eat mess around on the computer for a bit and crash so **** off with your generalizations. It'd make zero sense for me to spend an extra $100/mo on Comcast just to use maybe 20hrs/wk. If you want to pay my bill then I'll call them tomorrow. If not piss off.

not saying the companies don't make a lot of money, but you do realize that its not 100% profit, setting up 4G LTE and LTE+ speeds for networks is HUGELY expensive.
That being said, competition will always drive prices lower. I sell phones/activations and trust me, 95% of people use 1 gb (or less) each month. we are such a minority that it doesn't matter how much we use.

You're absolutely right. It can go both ways, but at the end of the day truly unlimited is truly unlimited. No matter what the nay sayers may think, their opinion can't over rule the fact that truly unlimited is what it is. Lol...
TM, pushed the whole truly unlimited campaign like mad angry birds head on first. Now that customers are utilizing a service that they signed up for, doesn't give TM any right to try and take that away. Truly Unlimited Data is what customers are paying for.
So for them to even complain now is called: hypocrisy.
It also seems that the ones complaining are perhaps jealous or can't afford the $80 plan or maybe jealous of those who have a grandfathered unlimited plan? Who knows. ..
The fact remains, no matter how you tip the scale, documentation will beat conversation any day.
Truly Unlimited is Truly Unlimited. Pretty black and white to me.
And for goodness sake, what's the difference of streaming 1080p Netflix on your phone vs your 1080p TV? ROFL....

If someone uses 10000gb in a month or 10gb a month the infrastructure cost doesn't change.
I use on average 15-20 GB a month. T-Mobile is flat out the best carrier with the best prices for what they offer. If I'm paying for unlimited data, regardless of whether I use 20 or I use 200 it shouldn't make any difference. T-Mobile makes it a point to advertise that truly unlimited means just that: truly unlimited. They expect people to switch to their network for that very reason. I don't see the person using 300gb a month as an abuser; he/she is taking advantage of a service that is being paid for. They aren't doing it in an unethical way or cheating the system.
