[Q] How much data have you used? - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How much unlimited 4G LTE data have you used in 1 billing cycle?

I used 168 GB last month.

I'm at 96GB and taking it easy, just don't know how far I can push it, lol..

Stupid question. 4G LTE is unlimited with T-Mobile?

Thank you, this is the kind of info I'm looking for

And how is this related to the Note 4?

I avg 10GB. I could have use more.

How the heck? Apparently ain't no one on here got WIFI. Who uses 92GB a month? I use 6GB and my damn speeds are reduced but guess what. My bill cycle restarts the 9th. Ain't after that if my **** is slow and gets slow I will go back I'm paying for unlimited plus an extra $20

964 GBs last month. Torrents!!!!

Hell yeah! Haha haha. To the lames saying this is abusing the data stfu you just mad your petty ass isn't grandfathered on the TRUELY unlimited plan. We pay for our services, we have the right to use how much or little we please

Im currently at 355GB thanks to unlmited data and LTE using my XBox One to download those full 30+GB games and online gaming.

You know....as much as it would seem right to agree with the conservatives, you're right and it's pretty darn hard to argue against.
If you are paying for truly UNLIMITED service (most of us grandfathered in like me) then that means just that. TRULY UNLIMITED.
Last time I've checked, it didn't say FALSELY Unlimited.
For the few of you, quit the b!*#(ing already. UNLIMITED means UNLIMITED. This is TM's bad...don't claim something to entice people then turn around and try to set limits on that. That's called....hypocrite? Well they have...but oh well...at least it's made clear now with the current plans offered....fair enough. Full disclosure. Oh well....
It seems that the ones getting butt hurt over all this are the ones (some) who are not grandfathered? So it seems....jealous?
IMO though, I do think that for those who have WiFi available, to use that over LTE if you can, BUT again...that's the users rightful choice on what he/she wants to do with their UNLIMITED Data.
You have to remember, we're the ones getting robbed here. Not TM. They make plenty of money from those who are on set data limit plans.
Bottom line: Don't advertise something as Truly Unlimited just to get/entice customers and once your @$$ is full from eating, try and turn it around on the Customers.
Long live the Unlimited Data and Kudos to you Data nuts!
PERIOD.

Wow! a $200000 phone bill

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2394939,00.asp#fbid=M227xC8oyTv
A T-Mobile customer in Florida was "shaking and crying" when she received a phone bill of more than $200,000 last month, largely because her younger brother didn't turn off data roaming during a vacation in Canada.

Ohhhh....that had to be terrifyingly devastating to see. T-Mob really ought to drop that, or at least drop it down to where it's reasonable.
I would say even 2500 is just, I can't even put in to words. I would never use them again and I would take them to court over it. ( I never herd of more than a $1500 phone bill and that was a mistake.) I mean 250 would sting, but you could likely pay that and not do that again. T-mob you are just, can't put in words bad.
And stupid crap like this is why the government wants to step in.

If that idiot brother kept texting and using data and was getting the $50, $100, etc warnings like Tmobile said he was getting, it is completely his fault. It wasn't like he just left roaming enabled during his vacation. He actively used the connection without knowing the consequences. I think they should have to pay more than $2500.

Wow...that's a nasty phone bill. About a year and a half ago i got a bill for my landline for over 300 GBP. That's just over 400 USD i think. my cousin and others had been using the phone a lot to make international calls. The bill was for a 3 month period or something like that. Can't remember. But yeah...and i thought that was bad!

Ignoring warnings that you've run up $50, $100, $200, $500 in data roaming is pretty stupid.
O2 sends out warnings at £20, £40, and caps it at 50MB, unless you've agreed more.

It's only recently that UK/Europe has had protection to roaming fees, and it ONLY applies within the EU. In fact, only recently, Watchdog was talking about people who didn't turn off data when abroad and got hit with ridiculous bills.

Wind/Mobilicity Speed Tests

I know there are a number of speed test threads for the Nexus 4 but I want this one to be specifically for mobilicity and wind customers.
I have mobilicity's fake 4g premium data.. network type is set to lte/gsm/CDMA auto
Here are 7 test results with a peak of 10mbps down anyone on wind or Mobilicity will know that the speeds are unheard of.
These tests show an average speed of around 8 Mb but typical speeds are generally much closer to the 3.5 to 4 MB range.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Where in Mississauga did you take these speeds? I'm so thrilled.
Near heartland and about 1 km away from a newly erected tower (Terry fox and eglinton).
Keep in mind these were taken on a Saturday morning between 10-1130 (minimal congestion)

Wind doesn't have a great network, but when you pay $29 a month for unlimited everything you don't expect lightning quick download speeds. I was with them for awhile but I had to switch back to Rogers for reliability purposes. Still, those are good speeds for wind. Hopefully they continue to improve their network.

I wouldn't feel sorry for me. As stated above, I pay $24.25/month for my BTS plan with unlimited local calling, unlimited text and unlimited data.
Can you find me a comparable plan in the States?
Wind here on HMP (no premium data) $45 Unlimited everything taxes in
3MBPS is my max DL. Home and office have towers within 1km> radius. Good enough to stream Netflix and I can watch Walking Dead with no pixelation. I exceed 5GB of data per month and would love to have 10MBPS but for extra $10 no way. The speed now is good enough for me. It's bearable.
I'm on mobilicity on the BTS (BACK TO SCHOOL PLAN), and I always get at least 1.5 - 2Mbps, (On my lg optimus one), the data's not that great but I love having unlimited everything. Can't wait to get a nexus 4.

Let's not forget the coverage is pretty limited and the network is largely hit or miss.
To the OP, I think you are one of the first people I've seen with actual HSPA+ speeds on Mobi with their premium add-on. On the other hand, having to pay an extra $20 for that add-on kinda ruins the low-price idea of Mobi in my opinion.
To address multiple posts keep in mind that mobile is city is no contract. There is no denying that coverage is shoddy but at 40/month with no lock in and unlimited everything I'm not complaining.
To the previous poster: I actually only pay 40 dollars a month including the premium. I was actually on the friends and family plan for 35 dollars and in order to get the premium data I had to switch to 1 of the new plans which pissed me off.
I got in touch with Stewart Lyons and he personally saw to it that I got what I wanted. Ended up getting the new 50 percent off plans with everything I currently have plus extra roaming minutes and premium data for 5 dollars more than what I was previously paying.
All that said though the speeds are not consistent and I would really love to have 20 + MB/s... not willing to switch to one if the big 3 on a three year contract for that.

the most i got was 8mbs, what is the best setting for hspa+, right now i keep it as cdma/gsm auto, to the OP you put lte/cdma/gsm, when LTE isnt supported whats the point
Yea I pretty much can't argue with that.
To previous post there really is no point I just do it on the off chance that it picks up layaway frequency and boosts my dbm.
The fact that I have an LTE microsim just makes it intuitive for me to want to keep it on that setting you never know what impact it may or may not have.

Wifi Tethering (T-Mobile)

I know most of us have rooted roms and tethering is not a problem but just in case you dont want to circumvent the system T-Mobile now has free tethering with unlimited data plans. At least thats what they told me yesterday and added to my regular No-Contract acct. Call them up and check it out or sign up online and see. I was told its a feature that was just added on for them this month. My boy added it to his Iphone so I know it does work...

Not sure how else to say this but here we go. Yesterday while in the T- Mobile store the rep I formed me of a recent change. Anyone with unlimited internet can now get tethering for free.... Unlimited tethering and not the first 509 as stated on the web by T-Mobile. I am not a rookie and was simply passing this on .Now if you have asked a rep today and they told you different then fine. But if your statements are based on anything prior to today ease refrain til you ask. Now I am simply posting as said prior as an FYI.... There IS a recent change in the fine print language that indeed allows 500MB of tethering on 'Unlimited' data accounts, and I believe this is what the rep was referring to, whether intentional or not. It likely will never be 'unlimited tether' due to the fact of network restraints, and they have repeatedly indicated they do NOT want to be anyone's ISP for home-based bandwidth. Widespread 'unlimited tether' would bring this network to its knees in mere days. Please consider that this rep wasn't completely knowledgeable/forthcoming.

Welp, I did some quick google-digging, and DID come up with an interesting change in terms on all plans BUT the Unlimited Nationwide 4G, which still maintains the 500MB limit:
http://deals.t-mobile.com/unlimited-4g-data-no-contract
This page indicates all other 'Unlimited' data plans (no UN4G) can tether to their full rate...and fall back to 2G when the bucket empties. I'm happy to be wrong, playya! LOL!
EDIT:
Aw man: again misleading..the fine print:
"Smartphone Mobile Hotspot: (Tethering/Wi-Fi Sharing): Qualifying plan required. Plan data allotment applies.; Unlimited 4G data plan includes 500 MB of tethering. No roaming. Use of connected devices subject to T-Mobile Terms and Conditions."
This statement can be read several ways, naturally...TMO really needs to step up and simplify this silly language.

Gotcha...correct info is more important than right/wrong. I just recall several months back a thread where users were bemoaning paying for Unlimited Nationwide 4G and not getting ANY tethering...even when they wished to pay extra for it...it simply wasn't offered (assumed too abusive to the network). Even I was shocked they changed and allowed 500MB on that UN4G plan. Cheers!
I have the $30 pre paid 5 gig plan and you can add tethering for $15 a month. I have used it though with apps just during power outages. I never had an issue but I don't come close to using the 5 gigs anyways.

I just added it to my plan. I chatted with them first to confirm that it could later be canceled without affecting the basic plan. They prorated the first monthly fee because I'm already in middle of the billing period.
It annoys me that they make it so hard to find exact terms and conditions. At the moment, the blurb on the signup page doesn't say anything about limiting the high speeds to the first 500 MB, just says "Plan data allotment applies." The allotment is first 5 GB at up to 4G speed; time will tell if I get that with other connected devices.
How would they even know (sorry if that's an ignorant question)? Truth be told, I've been tethering all afternoon since my DSL went down. I decided to make it "official" when I found out it could take a couple of days to get my regular DSL back up again, but I didn't have any problems throughout the afternoon tethering a laptop and a tablet. Other than suddenly seeing a surge of use, how would they know I have tethered devices?

They randomly check user agent strings. I started getting the warning texts a few months ago (was on value unlimited which doesn't have a tethering allotment) and then they blocked me from accessing Internet Explorer from my laptop via mobile hotspot (but could still use Chrome or my iPad). One phone called they switched me to Simple Choice and kept my contract term so I didn't have to pay a migration fee.

I just switched to unlimited 4g a few weeks ago and I've occasionally gotten rerouted to a page that says I don't have tethering or I've reached my data limit. Disabling tethering and reloading the page works to bypass the page I'm using native android tether, and that's the only problem I've seen so far.

Will they force people off the Framily Plan? From the looks of the new plan, there will be only one bill like the other carriers.

I wouldn't think so... But once you upgrade you may have to change plan. Not sure yet. Sprint's going through plans so fast now-a-days I can't keep up!

I have a good deal so far at $25 per month.
It seems like a good plan, although after 2015 you will need to pay $15 per line. The price could skyrocket pretty quick.

It would also seem like you would have to know the people if I understand it correctly because it'll be one bill.
I'm still on an older Everything Data 1500 family plan with 27% discount with three lines

I'm still on the Everything Data 1500 family plan as well. They let you stay on it if you buy your phones off of sprint.com rather than in a store.
I pay $300 a month for 5 phones on the 1500min family unlimited data plan w/ Sprint insurance on 4 phones, extra 200min on one line, 27% discount, free mobile to any mobile and my brother pays me $120 for two phones, should I just stick to the plan I have?

$80 tmobile unlimited plan

I tried in the Note 3 forum but it's a cluster fu.. over there so I am gonna try here. Does anyone or has anyone used this plan? I want to switch to this one so I can use my phone as a hot spotfor my computer when I'm at home but I don't want to hit some fine print limit. So I'm hoping someone here has done the same in the past.

That will give you truly unlimited data from your phone, with I think 3gb of native tethering.
Do a search and you'll find a lot of answers on how to acomplish what you're trying to do.
Keywords: WiFi tether router
Hope this helps.

Thanks For The reply but that's not quite was I was asking about. Getting around the tethering limits is relatively easy I was curious if I use say 100gb playing like Final Fantasy 14 plus my normal usage will t-mobile come at me and say I've used to much data you know?

No, you will be fine.
Like I've said, do a search and you will see that people here are using hundreds of gigs, some even 1tb+. Truly unlimited is truly unlimited.
I do 300+gb a month and never experienced a slow down or anything of that nature.. Blast for it..

I hate how some people take advantage of *unlimited data. Eventually they will do away with it because of this type of use

Some of these people who use it as a dedicated internet shouldn't advertise it.
this is not how T-mobile setup their plans.
$80 unlimited is phone only data. The plan included 5GB tethering over t-mobile hotspot app.
I hope carriers block the abusers and not punish us all

Agreed. We already went from $70 unlimited to now $80 unlimited.
??? Self-limited or Communty-limited, Unlimited Data ???
Why should someone who is paying for an unlimited data service, not utilize it as to their own prospective needs, or be punished/restricted for doing so???? Anyone urging the same for anyone elses say, TV usage??? Or HULU views??? Isn't it at all feasible, in this world of tolerance (haha), that someones legitimate needs might just be different from someone elses???
Wanna punish someone??? Why not suggest say, the Service Provider, who makes BILLIONS (in profit) annually, providing a service that CLEARLY does NOT cost what is charged, by any reasonable standard?!?!? And I'm OFF my SOAPBOX!!!
Sorry for the rant as well...

Consciously using and abusing versus using subconscious is different. Like me I don't monitor what I use. is use Wi-Fi when I can, etc. I don't rely on my MOBILE phone for my internet. Why don't they get an ISP for heavy use. If you use 100gb pm on a cellphone in a billing period, you must not work and thus you should have access to a WiFi network. To brag about using high amount of data is duh mm .. Learn the game! I'm thinking of the future I don't want them to punish all of a for a few defiant couch potatoes

This is America ...... EVERYTHING is over priced. That's a moot argument. My argument is on principal and moral. I'm not defending the business at all. They all can lower prices. But I like the idea when I use my LTE I don't have to count !megabytes, when people use LTE on purpose because they feel they can now we risk losing unlimited

I can see both the points. Eventually the "abusers" will lift the already high prices to an even higher point. That being said - we, as Americans, get absolutely raped on the cost of our service. Not to mention we are among the slowest in the world when we take what we pay into consideration. So part of me is saying "**** these corporate criminals..." Another part is saying "easy does it...don't ruin a relatively good thing..."

Im REALLY sorry NOW... That I said ANYTHING lol... Why didnt I think of those points to make?!?!?
The point of he T-Mobile network isn't about coverage it's about data that's what they advertise is the "data strong " network they have set up their network to handle the amount of data that is being used unlike the other carriers that have capped data

First of all jack ass I was throwing an arbitrary number out there. I have no idea how much data a MMO pulls. Secondly what's the difference between using a cell phone for my Internet and using Comcast besides I can get similar speed for a much better price using T-Mobile. I am only home for maybe two hours after work and that's enough time to eat mess around on the computer for a bit and crash so **** off with your generalizations. It'd make zero sense for me to spend an extra $100/mo on Comcast just to use maybe 20hrs/wk. If you want to pay my bill then I'll call them tomorrow. If not piss off.

not saying the companies don't make a lot of money, but you do realize that its not 100% profit, setting up 4G LTE and LTE+ speeds for networks is HUGELY expensive.
That being said, competition will always drive prices lower. I sell phones/activations and trust me, 95% of people use 1 gb (or less) each month. we are such a minority that it doesn't matter how much we use.

You're absolutely right. It can go both ways, but at the end of the day truly unlimited is truly unlimited. No matter what the nay sayers may think, their opinion can't over rule the fact that truly unlimited is what it is. Lol...
TM, pushed the whole truly unlimited campaign like mad angry birds head on first. Now that customers are utilizing a service that they signed up for, doesn't give TM any right to try and take that away. Truly Unlimited Data is what customers are paying for.
So for them to even complain now is called: hypocrisy.
It also seems that the ones complaining are perhaps jealous or can't afford the $80 plan or maybe jealous of those who have a grandfathered unlimited plan? Who knows. ..
The fact remains, no matter how you tip the scale, documentation will beat conversation any day.
Truly Unlimited is Truly Unlimited. Pretty black and white to me.
And for goodness sake, what's the difference of streaming 1080p Netflix on your phone vs your 1080p TV? ROFL....

If someone uses 10000gb in a month or 10gb a month the infrastructure cost doesn't change.
I use on average 15-20 GB a month. T-Mobile is flat out the best carrier with the best prices for what they offer. If I'm paying for unlimited data, regardless of whether I use 20 or I use 200 it shouldn't make any difference. T-Mobile makes it a point to advertise that truly unlimited means just that: truly unlimited. They expect people to switch to their network for that very reason. I don't see the person using 300gb a month as an abuser; he/she is taking advantage of a service that is being paid for. They aren't doing it in an unethical way or cheating the system.
