I/o writes & reads (database) - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I improve the read and write of my database when I'm already using voodoo lagfix...is there a scheduler setting or an app that can that.. I'm already using tregak uoc set to cfq but its worse on noop and deadline
SGH-I897
2.3.5
I897UCKJ3
SAMURAI KERNEL 1.2
ILLUMINANCE 1.1
TEGRAK UOC 1.3 ghz

That only gets better with Lag fix. If its quadrant you are worried about take out external SD or get a better one.

Vellamo benchmark results

Hey guys,
anybody tried the new Quallcom benchmark Vellamo? If so please share your points together with ROM/kernel Version, I/O and CPU governor.
I tried
- Overcome Jupiter 3.0.1 with 3.3.0 kernel at 1.4 GHz, using sio and smartass
- latest Dip7 ROM with Overcome kernel 3.3.0 at 1.4 GHz using sio and smartass
- latest Dip7 ROM with Dip7 kernel at 1.4 GHz using bfq and ondemand
in all cases I got around 755 points after the second run (first run after boot always gives like 100 points less, I think this is due to caching).
I would like to see results from other ROM/kernel/governor combinations, like CM7 and BOCA.
Cheers

[Q] Optimal overclock for Samsung Galaxy S i9000

I'm currently running stock kernel and stock rom on a rooted Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (GT-i9000). The Android version is 2.3.3. and i wish to overclock it as much as possible, to define this I would like to say "as much as possible where i gain a measurable result without any waste".
So i recently overclocked the phone with Tegraks app Overclocking Ultimate, thanks for the app!
My current settings are set to 1.3 Ghz with an output of 1.305 V with an internal voltage of 1100mV. The Io sheduler is cfg and governor performance with scaling-min: 800mhz and max: 1.3 Ghz.
The test results are:
AnTuTu Benchmark 1000 Mhz
RAM: 326
CPU-Int: 596
CPU-float: 153
2D: 275
3D: 1058
Database IO: 250
SD write: 2.8MB/s
SD Read: 9.3MB/s
CPU: 1000 Mhz
Total score: 2779
AnTuTu Benchmark 1300 Mhz
RAM: 442
CPU-Int: 781
CPU-float: 200
2D: 278
3D: 1141
Database IO: 380
SD write: 4.2MB/s
SD Read: 11.9MB/s
CPU: 1300 Mhz
Total score: 3383
Is this really the maximum performance to receive of the device without modifying the kernel or rom?
My SGS
Hi,
in my SGS, it looks like this:
ROM: Slim-3.1.0-OFFICIAL (Android 4.1.2)
Kernel: Devil3_1.9.5_Jelly_Helly_i9000_CFS_BLN_VC .
In this Kernel, I was able tweak processor to 1484 MHz. Using Devil Kernel Config, I set the frequency to 1400 MHz. Then, I set LiveOC value to 106, still got max frequency of 1484 MHz. RAM Settings is "Big Mem 403 MB" (movies in HD work), ZRAM Size is 150 MB and Swappiness is disable. Deep Idle and Deep Idle Stats is enabled. I set I/O Scheduler to "sio" and CPU Governor to "smartassV2". AnTuTu Benchmark v3.0.3 results look like this:
RAM: 813
CPU-Int: 989
CPU-float: 238
2D: 387
3D: 1582
Database IO: 545
SD Write: 6.2MB/s (internal SD)
SD Read: 9.1MB/s (internal SD)
CPU: 1484 MHz
Total score: 4707
So the answer to your question ... I do not think you get a better result without modifying the kernel and ROM change. I got, but not on the stock ROM and Kernel.
If you're happy with your stock rom I'd leave it, unless there's something you really need to OC for.
My phone gets pretty hot playing games with just 111% Live OC, are you doing this for the scores? Or is there some game that lags?

I have installed CM10.1 and overclocked it to 1.2Ghz.
Antutu is always close to 4200.

Stock. running cm10.1 12th jan nightly. Ran the benchmark, the score was around 4200. Cant post screenshot at the moment. Will post it later.
update
You should update to cm10. It relly felt like a new phone when i updated from stock to cm9.1. I had the same version as you 2.3.3 and it sux.
1200 for me, best Antutu benchmark(5000+ no games, ~4400 with games) while not risking to brick my phone.

If you're still on gb try glitch kernel. I once reached 4200 in the old version of antutu with 1.6ghz overclock while the stock kernel gave around 2900. 1.5ghz was stable for me.
AW: [Q] Optimal overclock for Samsung Galaxy S i9000
I got 4700 points on antutu with just 114% live OC.

HI everyone i just overclocked my i9000 to 1.2 ghz
and results was just amazing
before oc i got overall score with antutu =4815
after oc = 5470
i had serious lag with subway surf and its gone after oc

Best kernel, I/O Scheduler and cpu governor for Jellybean?

I flashed the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159519 SuperNexus kernel which is on version 4.2.2 Jellybean, and I'm liking it ^.^
Now, I was on ICS for quite a long time (too many unstable JB roms) and of course, the kernel I should use and the i/o scheduler and cpu governor changed, as I'm on jellybean now. I was using Devil with Smartassv2 and noop on ICS and it seemed to be working great. What kernel shall i flash for the supernexus? It comes with a cyanogen mod one which i don't like, and which i/o scheduler and cpu governor shall I use? Write below, with a reason.
Thanks!
No one, seriously?
You can try this. I'm using it and it's amazing:

Overclocking can fry your cpu. My governor is smartassH3, frequency 245-800 MHz and I/O is sio. for SmartassH3, flash MA6 kernel by @Mardon. Btw just curious, why are you using an old version of cm10.1? there is a final version for cm10.1. here- http://jenkins.androidarmv6.org/job/android/602/

what is the best overclock kernel

Hello Guys !
My SGS is running with Mackay Rom 4.9.7
With the Mackay Kernel, the device can't handle even -25 mv undervolt - it crashes when i load something CPU heavy.
1.4 , 1.3 , 1.2 , even 1.1 Ghz is not running stable for long load, i tried undervolt and even overvolt for all of this frequencies - it crashes and restarts.
Would you recommend me good kernel for maximum overclock of the device ?
I have searched on Google , but i can't find the information that i want - there is no list for kernels, kernel opinions and recommendations anywhere.

For me the only Kernel that looks stable overclocked (1.2 Ghz) is Semaphore. It's a normal thing for your device to crash on high frequencies. The lack of a cooler makes your CPU hot and in order to prevent damage it crashes. At 1.2 Ghz it should work fine without any crashes (as long as the CPU governor is set ondemand)

I use semaphore with stock volt and 1.2 Ghz SmartassV2 - Noop and it work flawlesly
Ehndroix V + Neo Kernel // CyanAOSP + CyanCore
Using Neo Kernel, probably the best kernel i ever used so far.
It bases on Linaro 4.9, while the most other Kernels sit at 4.7 still.
For Antutu it keeps up at its highest preset: 1.32 GHz (Intelliactive) and I/O: BFQ (Stock). Getting impressive 6059 points.
For daily use i have it at 1.2 GHz, had no crash yet.
The kernel runs butter smooth with Ehndroix V.
The Best Kernel for Gaming is probably the CyanCore Kernel, if you use it with CyanAOSP (comes Stock with CyanCore Kernel) its the smoothest gaming experience so far i had on this device after the Legendary GamerzRom..
