I noticed that there is an option in "Call settings" namely "Caller ID Readout".
I use a third party application "Voice Caller ID" but would like to change to the stock one.
The question is:
How can I change what the voice is saying? So that it says something in german (German voice is working).
Thanks for any suggetion.
Can't say I have much experience on this topic, but my guess would be that you go into the contact list, open up the contact you want to change, press the menu button and select Edit. Then, press the down arrow next to the person's name. You will now see some options such as "Phonetic given name" "Phonetic middle name" "Phonetic family name".
Try that and post back your results!
thanks for your suggestion. unfortunately I should have written, that it's not about how or what name should be spoken. Its more about the prefix "Call from". I'd like to change that to "Eingehender Sprachanruf von".
thanks
ahhh, I can see where you're coming from wanting that to be in German but unfortunately that is out of my realm of knowledge. Good luck!
Maybe try changing the Text To Speech from English to German but that would be a system wide setting.
I think it's more like a xml ressource somewhere that has to be edited. But where ...
Anyone? Thanks in advance!

Hello here,
I have lost Autocomplete of Contacts when writing a name in the To: Field of an Sms message.
I have Fun Contact installed, which gives the contacts an iPhone type look, since then it's been playing up. I have since uninstalled this, but it still doesn't provide suggestions of names in my contacts list, when I begin to type a name in the To field.
It's very annoying and one of my favourite features of using Sms on Windows Mobile.
Any Suggestions would be really appreciated.
Regards.
Y.
Does other predictive input work fine with your default keyboard? One more thing, when you try entering a contact name, the predictive function searches only for the contacts with numbers entered in the "mobile number" field. Check if your contact has the number there.
Regards,
Carty..
I lost that feature when I installed touch keyboard + keypad from dutty's collection
but after uninstalling them its fine now
Hey Carty,
Thanks, that's something I hadn't checked. My other predictive imput isn't working either. I have an idea why it might be. I downloaded KaiserTweak and, changed quiet a few things with it.
I set the Autocomplete to suggest me 6 words and this option is not available from the Drop down menu in the settings menu Of WordComplete.
It is not working anymore even though I have set them both to 3 words and after entering 3 letters. I have since Soft reset the device? Help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Found the Answer
As I was saying I had made some changes with the KaiserTeaks app.
One of the changes I had made was to Enable XT9 under the Text Message options.
I realised this just now as I was going through the options and have set it to disable XT9, which is the default and this has fixed the problem
Hope this helps someone out there.
thanks y0u5uf,
will try it out seems like your suggestion is the easiest way out since i installed app like kaiser tweak, touch keyboard+keypad
is there any way that i can erase the words that i have wrote in my predictive text, are they stored somewhere where i can just go into and delete them, i want to start all over??
nvm i got it lol sorry
SMS Input
I have a similar issue. When I enter a character in the "to" field I dont get a list of choices to pick from. BUT, if I hit backspace and erased a character the names and/or numbers pop up.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can fix this?
Hi,
Does somebody know if it is possible to show your outgoing Caller-ID per category?
I know the defaults options for Caller-ID are "all, none, contacts only".
If it is possible to set this per category, has somebody already seen a piece of software which handles this?
I have already looked around in the forum and on Google, but couldn't find something like that.
Some phrase in Google told it could be done with Vito QuickContacts, I downloaded it but did not find such option, maybe it was for other phones only...
Thanks.
I would also like to know this, it would be Veeeery helpful
The "contacts only" option is not working for me, it's the same like "no one". I would like to see at least that option working.
But, Caller ID is a feature from a mobile operator, and honestly I can't see how one can control it via software.
Settings - click on blue Phone icon
select Services tab
select Caller ID
Click Get Settings
wait....
then shows options:-
Everone,
No one,
Only to Contacts
probably the best you can do
You could write your own program to handle contacts for you, and include setting such as these
ok, would somebody provide that program for some of us, not programming saavy.
Is there any software available for TyTn II by which i can change or disable my number to others? Please rep.
settings/ blue phone icon/ services/ caller id/ get settings/ select who you want to see your, some, all, etc... No software required. Hope this helps
Within the UK you can dial 141 before the number.
This way you can set individual contacts as private.

That would be to easy. Don't you have a more complicated solution, or maybe some over priced software you know of that would work?
My phone doesn't have those settings.

They probably need to be enabled via a reg edit or advanced config
depending on the net work there is a code that you can dial in front of the number that would block your number from showing up on the caller IDs of other phones.
ex
for t mobile is #31#
for att is *67
for sprint its normally blocked by defualt
verizon i believe is *67
but if there was a program that would allow you to change or spoof your caller ID among other people it would be nice to have

Software to change your number ...
NO .... but there are services you can use to change how your number appears to others. "It's called Spoofing"
Software to disable your number .... (where are you located?)
No need for software .. chinese chicken's "how to" is correct (if you live in the states.) You also have the option to press the "green dial key" as though you were going to make a call, then "Menu", then "Options", then "Services", select "Caller ID" and hit "Get Settings", and then select either "everyone", "no one" or "only to contacts", and ok. soft reset to ensure the settings will stick. Hope this helps
I know this can be changed, and to my embarrisment I cannot find it on here anymore on how to do this. Could anyone please tell me the reg value I need to change to not have my TD show surnames first (who tought up this idiot setting to begin with?).
you can change it, go into contacts, edit and change it in "file as"

funny enough, that doesn't really matter. At least not with the built in BT carkit in my C4 picasso. It will still show firstname/surname.
If there is indeed a registry key to change this, I would like to know. Perhaps that DOES give the result I am hoping for.
how i writr my contacts is as follows ( works in outlook contacts aswell ) where you have to put first ,name ,middle ,last, etc just write the full name in the first name column e.g you would write the name John Smith ,with john in the first column and smith in the last colume ,but just write john smith in the first column and it should be ok .hope you understand.
This is a way of entering/adding NEW contacts to the phone. As I understood, sjaak1234 wants to change this display mode for the contacts already in the phone. Manually editting of each contact is not a good way to follow...say you have 400 contacts...edit each one of them? Gee...I event don't wanna think about it.
An easier way (as I did it in the past since I couldn't find another way) is to export your contacts from Outlook into Excel, than concatenate the two text strings "First Name" and "Last Name" into one single text string (under "First Name" for ex) and import back the file in Outlook. Then, by syncing you should get the adress book properly sorted and displayed. It should take no more than 10 min.
That's in Outlook But that setting does not exist on my phone

If you want your Contacts to be displayed as First name then Last name, use this cab else this one for the reverse.
Regards,
Carty..
That's great,
thanks a lot

Patrick

Thats a standard feature, you don't need to install anything to get that.
In that case I realy don't understand what installing the cab has added

Is there anyway I can make my MDA Vario IV read text messages? I had a program that did it on my N95, and TBH, I miss having it.
I've done a search, but it didn't really come up with anything.

I already posted this in the other thread you started. Please dont start new threads....search and if you are unable to find anything (which is rare) then post new questions here if you need help rather than starting a new thread

Does your MDA not have Voice Command preinstalled? If so, it's already capable of this...
Go to SETTINGS (from Start menu) --> PERSONAL (tab) --> VOICE COMMAND
The checkbox next to "Enabled" should be checked, then scroll down and check the one next to "Messaging" in the list.
Now, tap on "Messaging" to select it then tap "Options" on the right. Deselect the "High Priority Messages Only" checkbox, and ensure the "Announce New Messages" is selected. Tap "OK".
Finally, tap "Notifications" and choose the radio button that best fits your situation. I personally have it set to only announce notifications through my bluetooth headset, but that's because I get some pretty risqué messages that I would never want read aloud through the phone's speaker (especially in public!) I also don't have "Only during free time" selected, because if it's going through my headset anyway, it won't be a distraction in a meeting because the headset will be off, thus no voice notification.
Anyway, hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply.
I've just been into the settings like you have said, and I don't have it. Is the Voice Command the MS one? If so, i have it on my laptop but haven't put it on the phone yet (I downloaded it because I liked the way my N95 spoke the name of the person calling me).
I'm going to try installing it now and see what happens.
