[Q] Wi-Fi Problem. Not scanning, not connecting - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
I have a problem with my Wifi in my X8. I have installed GingerDX v0.19 Rom with the LinuxDX v0.04 Kernel, although this problem has happened to me ever since I rooted and installed my first rom (Cant remember which was it).
Anyway, the problem happens sometimes, and is like this. Most of the time Im connected to a network, but sometimes occurs that I want to add another network, and instead of connecting, it just stays saying "Connecting". After that, nothing happens and instead says "Disconnected". When I leave that place and go somewhere else, I press "Scan" and nothing happens and it just stays on "Disconnected".
This happens from time to time. Sometimes the problem solves itself on its own and sometimes it solves thanks to me pressing one hundred times the button Wi-fi to turn on and off the Wi-fi. Now I havent found the way to solve it.
I reinstalled the rom, reinstalled the kernel and still nothing happens.
Thanks for reading the question, and thanks in advice

You could try to erase all remembered wifi access than try again..
lets see if that work.. it work for me

I had the same problem using the Froyo Custom roms. What I did in order to "unstuck" the wi-fi is to add manually a network and then scan of other networks worked again. You might give it a try.

I had the same problem when i used network i don' t usually use (different AP).
I just had to wipe all remembered networks and it started working properly

Ironicly I got that problem yesterday. Just factory reset and once that's done, download Titanium Backup and backup wifisettings.apk (its not called that but its the very bottom one), if you have the problem again just restore that apk and you should be good to go!
I'm using GINGERDX v019, .

Sometimes it happens when you change rom/kernel.
Try deleting file:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

I forgot to mention that!
My good friend @Quinny898 told me that!

Hey! Thanks everyone!!
The "erase all networks" thing worked perfectly but Im still going to erase the "wpa_supplicant.conf". And IrishStuff09, you reminded me of doing the apps backup with Titanium Backup!!
Again, thanks everyone for answering and solving my question

Did you try to restart it? It happened to me and a simple restart did the trick. However I had to do it everytime I turn off the wifi and want to turn it back on though.

Yeah, I've tried restarting it, booting into WebOS then back to CM9, clearing Dalvik cache, all to no avail.

Try reflashing it with the following wipe routine: wipe cache, format system, and wipe dalvik cache. You might have to re flash gapps, but it should work. Good luck.
Try running FXR Wifi fix and rescue.
I'm in the same boat. I bought this thouchpadb when they had the firebstorm and never had issues till we had to switch routers from att. Funny thing is it would not work when I switched modems but worked after going back to old modem to test. After using the old modem I had to hook up the new modem because the old one looses connection. It worked for a week then started acting up again. It won't even connect in web os. It says authenticating , connecting but never does. I'm ready to eBay it qnd get a nexus 7 but will miss the size.

[Q] disconnecting bluetooth

I have a problem with connected bluetooth devices.
I am using handsfree HF-210 in car for phone connection and Nokia BH-505 for phone and music connection while i am riding bike.
Currently I have installed CyanogenMod-7-20130608-UNOFFICIAL-cooper and both devices disconnecting and connecting again from time to time.
Especially when I am trying to listen to music it stops after several seconds, disconnects and reconnect. It is very annoying and it's almost impossible to listen to.
Sometimes restart change severals seconds into several minutes but problem is still there.
Previous roms i have installed (Giogel port v3 and Glsmt 2.1) has no problem with bluetooth
Any idea?
try flashing another version of CM or give a factory reset hope this works. pls hit thanx if helpd!
Maybe it had something to do with the android version of your rom. I experienced similar problems with my ace on 2.3.6 . They were gone with 2.3.7 (and above).
Hope this helps,
Jan

number disappeared when i complete it and nothing happened. No menu, no action (tried when connected to HF, just enabled BT and disabled BT). Maybe service codes are somehow blocked in this ROM. The only functional i have found is battery status.

what will be the purpose of the toggling app? switch on and off works fine for me, but it just disconnects during using and then reconnect again.
BT is enabled all the time, it is just not able to hold connection. And distance is not the case

The only (Secure) solution is an hard reset.
Do it, or seek the app that will reboot your phone.

Wifi doesn't enable anymore

Hi all,
I'm running custom roms for almost 1,5 years on this phone and never had any problem.
But since a few weeks, i cannot turn my wifi on anymore.
I usually use 3G, but once I need to download some larger files (updates for example) I sometimes enable wifi. As I don't use wifi that much, I can't really then when this problem started.
When I try to enable wifi (swiping off -> on) it goes to on but the button stays "grey". Once I exit the settings menu, and reopen it again, it shows "off" again for wifi.
Turning it on via another menu doesn't make any difference too.
I already updated my roms, but still no luck. Tried difference modems as well, but no luck.
Bluetooth works the way it should, so it's only related to wifi.
I already tried renaming the "/data/misc/wifi/wpa_suppliant.conf" file, but after a reboot the system doesn't even recreate that file.
Also took the battery out for some time, but that didn't any effect at all.
Anyone that has some ideas what could this problem?
Thanks!

Try another kernel. Try reflashing your ROM too. BTW it's not modem related.
Smack that thanks button If I helped!
Always make a nandroid backup before trying anything risky.
I do respond to questions (most) via PM.

Any kernel recommendations?
The phone is currently running AOSPA (Pananoid Android) 4-ALPHA, but without any difference when it comes to wifi.
Current kernel:
3.0.64-CM-g7fc3ce7

Go back to a stock rom and check. Wifi is kernel dependent.

Can't flash stock ROM, phone show only S/W Upgrade

A month ago I've upgraded to V20B using KDZ with this excellent tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723, and everything worked fine till yesterday, when suddenly all mobile connectivity lost, as if there was no sim card installed.
I tried various solutions from the web before flashing my phone to CM-10.1.3-p880, which was great for me, but alas, still no mobile networks and data. I then tried to flash back to Stock ROM, again using KDZ update, and I don't know what went wrong, the outcome was that now the device shows only "S/W Upgrade" screen and no more. I tried to flash several times using also Lg Flash tool, but every time it fails after 10% of the download process. I also tried everything on a different computer.
Plz help..
Thanx
You can try recover your phone with LGMobile support tool, without kdz flashing. In LG program in options you have entry update recovery, click it and follow instruction. I hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply.
It didn't fix it either.
Failed at 10% of the upgrading proccess.
i've seen like 3-4 people in the past month on the forum have this same problem (its like imei gets wiped), and all have issues reflashing. quite strange indeed. i don't have any tips for you other than to try reflashing via kdz flasher/another tool again and hope for the best
Try on another computer, this might helps. Do it on PC not on laptop on rear usb port.

Happened to me something similar today, but with the difference that I still have my IMEI and that I still can surf the web using 3G. Also my baseband version shows LGP880AT-00-V20a-234-XXX-MAR-26-2013 and right now I'm on latest CM11.
My problem is that I can't make calls, when I try to do so, I get "Mobile network not available". Also people can't call me and I can't send or receive SMS (haven't tried MMS btw).
I've also gone under "Settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Operators" and when I choose my network operator or select "Choose Automatically" I get "Can't connect to this network right now. Try again later".
Strange enough, in the quicksettings tiles I can see my network operator's name and the bars are full.
I was on Vanir 4.4.2 when this first happened. I have flashed already a few ROMs (like cm10.1.3, Zaiben, CM11) trying to solve this problem and all of this happens in all of them (clean flashed every single one of them). Also tried to restore with CWM some nandroid backups that were working previously and all of them are giving me this same error.
In "About phone -> Status"
I do have a signal strenght, which makes me think the antennas and the sim card are working correctly
Mobile network type: UMTS (I'm in Portugal)
Service state
Voice: Out of service (I believe the problem is somewhere hidden here)
Data: In service
Mobile network state: disconnected (this seems weird to me too, regarding the fact that I have data connection)
And like I said before, my IMEI and all the rest are correct.
I haven't tried flashing a KDZ due to all these reports of "soft bricking" their devices.... Don't know what to do... Any ideas?
Don't know If I shall provide a logcat or a dmesg... If so, when shall I take it?
Thanks in advance and sorry for crashing this thread...
what you described seems like ril crash issue, and ril doesn't connect you to network properly after that. the link in my sig may help you
edit:
just re-read your post, you are 100% sure it also happened on stock-based rom (zaiben)? if so, it may be that something different is wrong. try toggling airplane mode on and off when your issue happens and tell me what happens then
