Hallo Guyz ,
Lets see what rom is your favorite For Your 2x
(Sorry if i miss any ROM i just wanted to make a poll so i or others can deside which one to use !!)
Also Can You say why you use your rom pros or cons (like speed, stability, performance, battery, look, etc) so the others will know?
I vote for
2) Stock Gingerbread
but with a few mods (performance pack, HP kernel...).
But why you don't make a "real" poll?

Good. I vote for 2) but only with mods.
CM7 - Fast, better battery life than stock, can add themes. The only thing I misses is the stock Music Player.
Screw stock Music player, Google Music is miles better
oh, I forgot abt that. going to install it right away, thanks
i'm using MIUI rom right now..
with modpack from owain and swiftkernel..
I've tried all ROMs.
CM7 is the best so far.
at least until CM9 go out.
I'm currently using miui 1.11.04 and I think it's amazing! Loving it right now!! Currently running stock kernel but upgrading to swift soon

DJDroid LG P990 v1.2.1 Full ODEX By maja
I like this ROM. Battery consumption is real good in this rom. With 3G data enable, playing music and Setcpu App screen off profile, I have 4-6% battery usage per hour. This is real impressive ROM.
Sent from my DJDroid LG 1.2.1 using XDA App
Topogigi rom also not bad. Just the fd bug still remain...
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
Paul's Modaco Gr4 Vanilla. Still the best option for this device.
Guys
Re CM7
I keep reading in various threads that with this rom some things don't work.
Can someone please let me know what probs there are with it?
Thanks
There is a thread on what does/doesn't work somewhere...
The days of no A2DP and FM radio etc are long gone though.

do you know some place to download google music? i cant install from market, it said "not available on your country"
Get Market Enabler from the Market, set your carrier to T-Mobile US.
Now you can get the Music player from the Market, set it to auto-update, then undo the Market Enabler changes. Job done.

I'm not sure why it hasn't been mentioned on XDA yet, but TQ 3.0 has been released:
I'm only putting it out here, so if someone wants to make an official thread then go ahead. I'm amazed no one has said anything here... unless I'm missing something. Looks sweet!

Thanks,
Installed and seems like this ROM is solid....no bug(s) yet....nice
Confused
This is supposed to be a blurless rom, correct? I loaded it last night, and def still has blur in it.... When I get home I'll have to see if it actually deodexed like it promised. Even Contacts are still blur...
I will say that it's FAST though..

All of the current ROMS have *some* level of Blur. Since we cannot bypass the Moto Kernel, there are some levels of base code that just have to be there.
Tranquility, Apex, zapX, and Rubix 0.5 were all built on the 2.3.15 release and then removed as much of the blur components as they could and still have it function.
Fission & Rubix 1.0 built from a base that came out of the Droid2 SDK which appears to be very stock Android and therefore, they are a little more 'blur-less' than others. Which is both good and bad. Time is showing that some of the blur components have some nice functionality that people are missing when they go completely blur-less.
Also,

This is absolutely true and was the same for the D1 except it wasn't Blur, but you can't build AOSP for D1 either without using the extract-files.sh to pull all of the proprietary components that make the phone work.
It's a basic truth about phone firmware.

From what I read you may want to do a sbf back to stock 2.2 then install this.
I am seriously considering installing this to test out but want a little more feedback from users as to any possible issues (mail/pop3 etc..)

Its running pretty damn good for me. And since I have Tasker set up to sync my data every 30 mins, my battery life is great also. I'd imagine it would be even better if I set it to sync every 45 or 60 mins.
Love TranQ3.0, and I never thought I'd be saying that.

So far, I've had like maybe one or two glitches.... sometimes after a reboot the boot screen gets left on the lock screen, so you can still unlock your phone, but you have to guess where the sliders are.
another is that the calendar widget doesn't work.
Other then those two, the rom is FAST, stable, and battery life has been great. Worth it to me in my opinion... It's not an ASOP "experience" though... it's more like a hybrid.
Like it so far though, it's my daily driver.
Edit: Also, this applies to STOCK people (running the 2.2 OTA).... I was odexed, completely stock..... installed this rom with ease: no wiping, no formatting, nada. AND it deodexed my phone for me.... LOVE THAT.
Youtube app and music does not work for me. Mp3 are not recognized by player. I went back to 2.3.8 and everything works fine.

I have bought tasker aS well (the stock rom doesn't let the os sleep when gps is enabled so I bought it to turn it on and off for all my apps)
Now I like your idea of syncing every 30 but I use google voice exclusively. And the voice app. Does that mean if I turn off my sync I won't get my messages in a timely mater?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
This rom also doesn't seem to sleep when wick is on. Am I missing something? Anyway I do see how this can save a lot a battery with the screen dining and everything. I had to wipe my phone to get it to work. Last time I tried when I booted every system app was force closing. I feel like this is a little slower than rubix but way faster then stock. Could be too the drawer just doesn't feel right. Too bouncy for me to use quickly. Ill probably go to pro launcher. But if I don't want to how do I customize the 4 apps at the bottom? Its driving me nuts

I noticed that the Atrix supports GTalk with video, so I've robbed a couple of files to test on my O2X.
IT WORKS
So I've put them in a handy CWM .zip for you.
Tested it fine by calling someone in a browser, although the little window on the phone that shows what they see is upside down (which was fixed in CM7 #98). Not a big deal at all.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/d0orhj0jucrhdzi/gtalkvid-signed.zip
Or as a modified Temasek GApps pack (for 2.3.5): http://www.mediafire.com/file/ptwkbhjtkqy1k61/gapps-gb-20110727-gtalkvid-signed.zip
Only for Gingerbread
Yessssss !
Thanks a lot Rusty
Nice finding, don't forget to share with Paul!
Also please add that this only works on gingerbread, before people brick there devices!!

Yes, and again please put in big red letters only for 2.3.4
There's also a market installer if you'd rather not flash a zip; it has a couple of features like version selection:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brainwashstudio.talkinstaller
As far as I know, the Market one doesn't actually work on the O2X, hence this
It's to do with the Tegra's lack of NEON.
Quality work rusty !!
Any chance of this being bult into the next cm nightly?
Zero chance, CM doesn't include GApps remember
But once it's installed, it's persistent.
..almost there..
I tested it with the latest CM 89 / BB 218 / RIL 218 / Over wifi just now and it works much better..
..Except for my picture being upside down. The receiving picture is fine. Turning it upside down or sideways didn't help. :-/
Yeah it's odd that, you'd think if one was wrong, they both would be.

I'm using it fine, I think you're getting it confused with the Skype with video support which uses NEON instructions.
No, the original GTalk 1.3 wouldn't do video on the O2X which is what I was basing that on. If the one in the Market does then it's been modified, and if I'd known I wouldn't have fiddled around packing this up
Talk isn't on the market; the app I was referring too is a Talk 1.3 installer. I'm pretty sure it grabs the same modded apk.
Yeah that's the thing I was talking about (as you posted a link it's hard to get confused )
I tried it on my LG O2X and it works well but I have the video upside down but i hope they will fix this!
Once LG will release a 2.3.4 official then we will have all features working!
Stop thinking that, LG releasing 2.3.4 will be of no benefit to CM.
Also, commits overnight have fixed the upside-down-ness. I'm uploading a kang as we type...

You really just need to mess around with 2.3 for a bit.
e.g:
- Downgrade to the old market
- Choose a theme (?)
- Install V6 Supercharger Script
- Move apps to SD
- Use apps that won't slow. down your phone massively.
- Enjoy your X8! (Or W8 )

Its not advisable but I see that you use Go Launcher. In my opinion Go Launcher lags my phone and its laggy itself. Although its a very nice launcher. I would recommend Zeam Launcher or LaunvherPro for the first few days or week.
And you can downgrade the market. Like me. I just did it yesterday.

First, sorry in advance for the noob questions..
I am a first time Android phone owner. I ended up with the Revo because SWMBO said I could upgrade but only if it was free. Since it was the only 4G phone I could get for free (through newegg) other than the Stratosphere that's what I got. Otherwise it was the Galaxy Nexus for me.
Overall I am quite pleased with the Revo after dumping the stock ROM and installing Gingervolt 1.3. The only thing I don't like much is battery life but I understand that is fairly common among android devices. I suspect the ebay app is not helping but we'll see how it goes.
My last phone was a Blackberry Bold. I gotta say that the Blackberry has it all over android when it comes to email push. I don't much like gmail but yahoo's android app does a pretty good job, so I'm satisfied with it even if it does have to pull the email versus getting pushed. Also, copy/paste is far superior on the blackberry due to the trackball. I really don't like the way GB copy/pastes. It's a PITA.
However, after reading all 86 pages of the GV1.3 developer's thread, I see several references to supercharging.
I am assuming supercharing refers to the ability to overclock and/or underclock the processor. Is this possible with the stock GV1.3 ROM or is there an add on I have to install? I see there are apps in the market to do this. Is this the same or is this something different? I would like to overclock it a bit to see if that resolves the sluggishness the phone sometimes experiences and also see how bad it affects battery life.
In addition I tried to reinstall the stock LG weather widget by using ES File Explorer to put the .apk file back into the system/apps directory but it doesn't work. It won't show up in the list of widgets, etc. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Michael

1. Thank you so much for being dedicated and reading up on what you did to your phone.
2. Supercharging is a script. I believe it is built into the rom already.
3. To over clock the cpu download the blitz kernel and flash. Then download either cpu master or setcpu from the market.

1: Yes, I do try to read first before asking dumb questions. Even then I still end up asking them. Thanks for your patience.
2: How do I access it? I've looked all over the place in all the settings on the phone with GV1.3 installed and I haven't seen anything like that.
3: Where do I get the blitz kernel?
4: Fair enough. The instructions I read simply said to put the file "weatherwidget.apk" in the system/apps directory and don't try to install it. But from there I don't know what else to do.

Don't be afraid to ask questions around the revolution forums, we're a pretty friendly bunch and there are always lots of people willing to help or do their best to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for that. As you well know some forums are not nearly so friendly.
Okay so let me see if I've got this straight:
GV 1.3 already has V6 supercharger included, but how do you access it's settings? Or are there settings to access at all?
To upgrade V6 supercharger to the latest beta I need to follow the directions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379564 right?
To overclock I need to install the blitzkrieg kernal available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371022 and then install CPU tuner to manage it?
How do you calibrate the battery? I read this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11803458&postcount=10 Is that how you're supposed to do it? It looks like that was written for a Motorola device
I also found this thread regarding tweaks and scripts? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269 I'm not really sure how to use any of these or whether I should use any of these.
Another note: I'm typically not a habitual tinkerer when it comes to my phones. I get them setup the way I like them and then leave them alone.
And while I am at it, since it's highly unlikely that LG or Verizon will upgrade the revo to ICS, do you think it will get done by someone here?
Thanks,
Michael

Yeah Gingervolt 1.3 has the supercharger already included, but there's no real way of actually accesing it. You might want to try downloading script manager from the market and see if you can find it that way. But if you want the latest version of the Supercharger, then ya go to the V6 supercharger thread in general and download the latest version. You'll need to uninstall the Supercharger built into the rom first then install the new one using Script Manager. The V6 Supercharger Thread should have all the instructions.
For overclocking, yes that's what you need to do. Blitz will overclock it to 1.5GHz but you can use the CPU apps to change it to whatever you like (1.5 or less).
To calibrate the battery, all i did was download the battery calibrator app from the market. You charge your phone to 100% then hit calibrate.
For tweaks specific to this phone, I would suggest looking at this thread instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420199
We're all hoping MT, the one dev we have, can work some magic and get us ICS but we just have to wait and see i guess lol.
Hope this helped.

Yes it has, thank you.
And mega thanks to MT for all of his hard work. I would have sent this phone back if it weren't for him.
So this is the order I plan to do this. Please chime in and let me know if I am wrong. Hopefully soon cause I am starting now.
1: CWM backup
2: Install blitz
3: Install CPU tuner
4: Install script manager
5: uninstall built in supercharger
6: install updated V6 supercharger
7: Perform whatever build.prop tweaks I think I need to do
8: Calibrate battery
9: Marvel at the new found goodness that is my LG Revolution.

Thanks. I was on irc until the SO high jacked me to go to cold stone. Now she is pissed at me cause I won't get off my phone.
Lots of setting up to do in cpu tuner. Blitz and newest v6 supercharger installed. Phone is running nicely.
When i find work and actually have some money I am most definitely sending MT a donation!
Oh! And my honey bought me a present. Verizon store has the 2900 extended battery on sale at 50% off - $25.00.

No problem at all man. Haha ya there are a lot of things to play around with especially with a new phone. Good to hear it's working well for you.
Yeah MT has definitely done an awesome job. I just wish we had more devs to help out.
Haha very nice. The extended battery is definitely gonna come in handy with this phone.

My first impression when I got my extended battery was how much bigger and heavier the phone felt. BUT, I love not worrying anymore about the battery. I haven't ever considered going back to the little battery!

Just want share an thread (not app, its not mine or warrez) , if you are like me and instaling pure cm7 on your devices and then modified it by yourself, this is a good app , pardon, great app that consists all in one tweaks, for managing your rom...iv testing it for day so, it works perfect...
CAUTION! do not use every single option in that app, for me bootloop when i tried to change boot anime for exmp...so, play with it, but if you find something that you dont know what is for, google it!!!
Now its beta phase, a lot things added
