after getting my gingerbread rom my market gets VERY lag when i open ..and it's seriously considering me to change back to 2.1 ...( phone gets lag when open wifi ) so imma wondering if i can get the 2.1 market back ...the 2,3 market is unbearable and is unstable ..my apps keep crashing

Go to settings > applications > manage apps > all apps tab > find market, tap it > tap "uninstall updates" or something like that.
It's on XDA, and Google. Just use the "search" feature.
It's not just there for show o_0
ohhh thanks ya! sorry irish but the search func din reli searched what i've expected ...( i guess u also meant i created too many threads...sorry ><)

Most probably because 2. 3 is better and faster than 2.1.7

yea most probably..but why does it score higher when it feels more sluggish compared to 2.1 ? at least on my w8

You really just need to mess around with 2.3 for a bit.
e.g:
- Downgrade to the old market
- Choose a theme (?)
- Install V6 Supercharger Script
- Move apps to SD
- Use apps that won't slow. down your phone massively.
- Enjoy your X8! (Or W8 )

Its not advisable but I see that you use Go Launcher. In my opinion Go Launcher lags my phone and its laggy itself. Although its a very nice launcher. I would recommend Zeam Launcher or LaunvherPro for the first few days or week.
And you can downgrade the market. Like me. I just did it yesterday.

crap...
both the mods i tried today are problematic
gingerDX - crashes apps and crashes the OS
Cruzt- prolbem with creating widget , always says not enough space and has a load time when you exit your app which pissed me off ....
what is the most stable good mod out there??

Hmmm,
I'm not quite sure. I've only used GingerDX and FroyoBread (briefly).
I Use GingerDX all the time now. Its my main rom.
Did you try FroyoBread v23b? Its supposed to have great battery life and be very fast. FroyoBread development has long since stopped but you can try FroyoPro (exact same as FroyoBread but its just that someone is developing it a bit more).
- FroyoPro and Froyobread are android 2.2!!!!

Yea, Froyo was great.
No lag. No bugs! Very snappy!
Although its Android 2.2, it has Gingerbread features.
Hence the name FROYOBREAD.

I'd wait til CM6 becomes final. 2.1 IMO just doesn't run well enough on G1's hardware. The speed is there, but apps get killed too easily for memory.

Well, I couldn't run Pandora and then check my email and do gchat. Pandora would shut off when I try to do other things. Didn't have SWAP set up. Didn't have this issue with 1.6.

There is a lot of good custom ROMs. Go check The Rom Bible and look at the ratings of every ROM there. You will find something good.
And I agree that Eclair is usable, but not to fast. You have to set up a swap partition to run it good enough to be a daily driver. However, you will not find as fast 2.1 ROM as stock Donut. G1 has too little RAM memory (processor is good enough). But something for something - if you once see 2.1 ROM you won't want to go back, trust me .
If you're looking for speed - check Dwang, it's very good.
BUT! Very much depends how your son will use the phone. If his gonna do a lot of multitasking and play with the phone 24/7 then he should stay on 1.6 or start reading how to really set up an Eclair ROM to run smooth. If he is really casual user then almost every ROM will be OK for him.

2.1 sucks for multitasking. My widgets update 5 minutes late on average and sometimes they never do and I have to open the app to get them to update. Horrible.

Interesting.
If he's anything like my son, he'll be using the phone for messaging. I would definitely avoid Eclair and Froyo for now. No need to root it - stock 1.6 is fine for most everyday purposes. If he starts to want to install tons of apps, then you can root and start investigating your options.
lol that happened to me my first day having the phone >.<

Wow, that's one MOTHER****** of a long sentence.
You should flash the DOC_KALPIK FROYO JP6/JM6 V6 custom ROM. This ROM is the best I have tried so far. Instructions are on the 2nd or 3rd post and follow them to the letter!
Major credit to Docrambone and Kalpik.

FroYo sucks bigtime for me as well. I've got a fresh jp6 with voodoo and everything still seems slower than jf3 with voodoo. Especially the browsing.. Samsung messed it up, again.

Well benchmark results of oclf are way higher than the ones of voodoo. But voodoo fixes the things u really use. Benchmark is just a stress test 4 ur phone but its far away from really using ur phone.
Did u check repartition while flashing? Coz what ur telling sounds like there is some bad software running in the background. And belive me i know what im talking about i had to do factory reset today after trying to download galerians rom for psx (downloaded @ rombuddy psx) and i wasnt able to locate the malicous file on my phone.
Im on jpm with voodoo and it works perfectly. Psx4droid and all.the gameloft games (asphalt hd, nova and gangsters) are running without problems. Just some psx roms are not but thats problem of the rom amd not froyo.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
so jpm runs more smoothly even with a lower quad rating and yes i repartitioned and lost like a 100 and something apps lol i will try jpm for a bit then see how that runs if its not great ill try the custom jp6 see how that runs. last time i installed jpm after jp3 using "JPM_JPM_U_JPM" as pda it worked but is this the right way.
thnx for your replys
Yes it runns more smothely (in my oppinion) but still ive put voodoo on coz there is some lagging. And jp6 isnt really different from jpm (at least I cant feal any difference between em)
@phandroid
There is a fix for the browser coz samsung really did mess up with that. Just search the forum for froyo browser fix
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I reckon reason why froyo is slow for some is that Samsung put in extra bull**** startup process's. Hence giving you less ram. Disable them with startup manager and install 336meg free ram kernel as froyo comes standard now with only 300 megs readable. Also I am seeing lag after installing jfs lag fix via the universal lag fix kernel. Starting to think all lag fixes screw up after a week. Prob due to fragmentation. I have to reformat every 3 weeks due to data corruption with lag fixes. But without a affix the damned phone is slow as a freakin Nokia phone. Screw you Samsung
Sent from my GT-I9000
Yeah it's a shame that Samsung is able to deliver such great hardware but screw up such a great operating system.
Too bad voodoo won't work with the 340 MB kernel...
Well, let's just hope for another FroYo release.

I don't recall Samsung EVER saying that, and that sounds like an assumption.
And forget about quadrant. It doesn't test realistic workloads. You might have a I/O write speed of 6gb/sec, a read speed of only 1mb/s, and for all we know, Quadrant might treat them equally (even though the phone might barely perform any writing at all). Use it as a guide, but unless you know EXACTLY how it tests the hardware, and the workloads you need, the results can be deceptive.
Also, I messed around with an iPhone 4 2 weeks ago and it was laggier than my SGS even without lagfix in JPM. Sure the scrolling was smoother, but switching between apps was a joke.
Give JPO a try, and wait for stock mods. But personally, I recommend against using filesystem conversion mods.
The ram is a problem for some people I guess, but I'd imagine it depends on what you are using your phone for..

im using the free app from the Market called taskiller
i also did try juice defender did not see any real improvement using this app
2. Im ok with the original 2.3.4 but im getting the screen startup lag
ie when i press the side button to start the screen it takes a few secs for the screen to come on any solution for this
kindly do advise on the above & thanks in advance
then it means you are not on official update of csl mi 410 available in India .. did you downloaded it from the spice global website or what... you can try rooting your phone and setting cpu to some sort of profiles which actually saves quite a bit of battery life... try first updating to the official rom which can be downloaded from here

after that you should root your phone so that us can overclock and under clock the cpu and making profiles for it really saves tones of battery lol

Normally it is that Android 2.3 in general handles Multi-tasking very well compared to previous versions and even though the programs which seems to be open and are in background doesn't consume any battery power so you killing them and android starting them again will only suck more battery power.
Hope it helps

Hallo Guyz ,
Lets see what rom is your favorite For Your 2x
(Sorry if i miss any ROM i just wanted to make a poll so i or others can deside which one to use !!)
Also Can You say why you use your rom pros or cons (like speed, stability, performance, battery, look, etc) so the others will know?
I vote for
2) Stock Gingerbread
but with a few mods (performance pack, HP kernel...).
But why you don't make a "real" poll?

CM7 - Fast, better battery life than stock, can add themes. The only thing I misses is the stock Music Player.

Just tried with enabler and comes up with zero results
Ok. Some of CM7 roms have it. Screen didn't wake up well with music player. When I try to screen off and screen on, music player lags for a while. It's really annoying. Of course I have found the solution but not really like it. It's the Jimdemdroid tweak! It's really cool and it made that bugs gone away. But when I try it on some roms like ShockgensMod and rDroid. The rom is very laggy than usual and auto brightness is gone
Can somebody explain me what to replace files to fix that? And alos, I want answers to FroyoPro, too. Because FroyoPro got that lag, too. Please help me.

Can somebody explain me what to replace files to fix that? And alos, I want answers to FroyoPro, too. Because FroyoPro got that lag, too. Please help me.

Well thatd because x8 have a low memory so I suggest get a ROM that has a less eating RAM so far most of the JB roms offers that minimal and butter feel. Also consider other apps eating memory in the background and themed ROMS also affects performance

and dont use to many apps that always eating ram
like whats app, line, facebook, etc
kill or freeze unused apps

First. Which governor are you using?
Second. Try getting rid of DSPManager.

I use ONDEMAND and I use it in every roms. Seems like some roms have much ram than GDX and it doesn't even have DSP but still lags. I think our answers are not right
Something has to be fixed. DSP wasn't a problem and CPU too. Something wrong in some roms. I don't know :/

Yeah some roms have errors so you must be on trial and error mode until you get satisfied

DSPManager is mentioned as a feature in the FroyoPro thread. Are you sure it's not present in /system/apps?
Also, are you overclocking? And if so, by how much?
Why dont u try Gingerdx with poweramp(paid app) or u can try HAKA's PrimeHD from version 6 to 8.... i suggest u to not use DSP as it is memory hog...use BEATS or MEGABASS modules... :highfive:.

Best advice is full wipe, stop using swap, faster sdcard , 300mhz of CPU should be free for music player, SD speed tweaks may help or not (try)
# I recommend you a mokee os ROM for smooth music playback:thumbup:

I didn't say FroyoPro is not present DSP manager! Some roms like rDroid doesn't have DSP manager! That's it bro! But still got that lag and that rom have even more free ram than GingerDX. And also ShockGensMod is very great and smooth and have more free ram than GDX but it got that lags. I think ram is not the problem! It's just the screen wake up bug. :/
I don't overclock! I never overclock! It's just lagging. I tried everything and I also mentioned I've found the solution but not like it! JIMDEM Droid bro
Guys Guys! It's not helping me out! PowerAmp PlayerPro anything doesn't solving me out! I use all those it doesn't solve.. It's just screen wake up bug.. I know all the way like those basic knowledge.

Yeah Yeah.. I know all those dear bro It doesn't help me out! Try FroyoPro in stock kernel and you will know it
v2.5 << yeah! Start music player! And screen off and turn it back on! It lags a little while! Screen doesn't wake up instantly also.
That bug can be solve a little by odexing framework by bro puppet13th script But that lags still exist :/
I don't know why.. Some CM7 roms can be fix I said! But not like that solution because it makes the roms even worse although it fix that bug
Cheers!
