[Q] Music Player Lags Again and Again - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok. Some of CM7 roms have it. Screen didn't wake up well with music player. When I try to screen off and screen on, music player lags for a while. It's really annoying. Of course I have found the solution but not really like it. It's the Jimdemdroid tweak! It's really cool and it made that bugs gone away. But when I try it on some roms like ShockgensMod and rDroid. The rom is very laggy than usual and auto brightness is gone
Can somebody explain me what to replace files to fix that? And alos, I want answers to FroyoPro, too. Because FroyoPro got that lag, too. Please help me.

Well thatd because x8 have a low memory so I suggest get a ROM that has a less eating RAM so far most of the JB roms offers that minimal and butter feel. Also consider other apps eating memory in the background and themed ROMS also affects performance

and dont use to many apps that always eating ram
like whats app, line, facebook, etc
kill or freeze unused apps

I use ONDEMAND and I use it in every roms. Seems like some roms have much ram than GDX and it doesn't even have DSP but still lags. I think our answers are not right
Something has to be fixed. DSP wasn't a problem and CPU too. Something wrong in some roms. I don't know :/

DSPManager is mentioned as a feature in the FroyoPro thread. Are you sure it's not present in /system/apps?
Also, are you overclocking? And if so, by how much?

Why dont u try Gingerdx with poweramp(paid app) or u can try HAKA's PrimeHD from version 6 to 8.... i suggest u to not use DSP as it is memory hog...use BEATS or MEGABASS modules... :highfive:.

Best advice is full wipe, stop using swap, faster sdcard , 300mhz of CPU should be free for music player, SD speed tweaks may help or not (try)

I didn't say FroyoPro is not present DSP manager! Some roms like rDroid doesn't have DSP manager! That's it bro! But still got that lag and that rom have even more free ram than GingerDX. And also ShockGensMod is very great and smooth and have more free ram than GDX but it got that lags. I think ram is not the problem! It's just the screen wake up bug. :/
I don't overclock! I never overclock! It's just lagging. I tried everything and I also mentioned I've found the solution but not like it! JIMDEM Droid bro

Guys Guys! It's not helping me out! PowerAmp PlayerPro anything doesn't solving me out! I use all those it doesn't solve.. It's just screen wake up bug.. I know all the way like those basic knowledge.

v2.5 << yeah! Start music player! And screen off and turn it back on! It lags a little while! Screen doesn't wake up instantly also.
That bug can be solve a little by odexing framework by bro puppet13th script But that lags still exist :/
I don't know why.. Some CM7 roms can be fix I said! But not like that solution because it makes the roms even worse although it fix that bug
Cheers!

Are you talking about slow scrolling speed? Lagging? Because if so, the latest version of CM7 has a true DSI-fix and not just a workaround.
Yes, its laggy, but only half of the screen. So the last version of CM7 doesn`t have this bug anymore ?

If what you're describing really is the DSI-fix, then no. You should update to the latest version of CM7, I've heard good things about it.
The bad thing is that bug is present on TheFROYO MOD too. I don`t know what to do, i mean that bug is really annoyng for me!

That's because the only ROMs that have the true DSI bug fix are eybee's MIUI, latest CM7 and HO!NO!. The others have the old work around which causes screen tearing.
Today, I installed the CM7, and it doesn`t have that bug anymore, so they really work at DSI-fix.
Thanks skadude66 for the support.

You really just need to mess around with 2.3 for a bit.
e.g:
- Downgrade to the old market
- Choose a theme (?)
- Install V6 Supercharger Script
- Move apps to SD
- Use apps that won't slow. down your phone massively.
- Enjoy your X8! (Or W8 )

Its not advisable but I see that you use Go Launcher. In my opinion Go Launcher lags my phone and its laggy itself. Although its a very nice launcher. I would recommend Zeam Launcher or LaunvherPro for the first few days or week.
And you can downgrade the market. Like me. I just did it yesterday.

I'm not quite sure. I've only used GingerDX and FroyoBread (briefly).
I Use GingerDX all the time now. Its my main rom.
Did you try FroyoBread v23b? Its supposed to have great battery life and be very fast. FroyoBread development has long since stopped but you can try FroyoPro (exact same as FroyoBread but its just that someone is developing it a bit more).

[ROM-port] Miui Android (4.2.2) 3.11.8

This is just a port for the vibrant because I don't think anyone is keeping up with one.
Use the gapps in this post as it was published by miuiandroid for the rom.
Note: I did this one as a multi-language that is why the file size is a little bigger.
You should know the flash sequence by now but...
Backup
Wipe data (if on any rom other than this)
Format system
Flash rom
Reboot (don,t skip this reboot)
Flash gapps
Reboot
Setup & enjoy
ROM down do to errors
Gapps
past releases
Rom link up

Battery sems to be good, 17hrs and I stilll have 22%(117% OC, cfq, bigmem, wifi almost all day, data) so I guess phone is doing well and is going to deep sleep. gmail works really good, I had some trouble with candy crush facebook login, but it is working. I haven't tried the gps yet, I will today. I usually have between 125 and 150mb of free memory, I assume that is why it is a little bit laggy. Whatsapp and facebook works well also, No bugs yet to report.

Only one way, Don't install unnecessary apps like widgets, battery saver, antivirus softwares. and if possible use custom debloated ROM (caution :it'll void warranty).
I think we can get our warranty back by resetting the binary counter and flashing your country's FW again and unroot.

If you're playing games on your phone, moving them to sd will make them lag. Not faster. You can limit background process though for better multitask if you're having lags and not wanting to root.

Moving app to SD card will only increase loading time.It won't give increase performance.
In addition, you can try not to install many chat apps (ie: viber, line, wechat etc..) cause all of this always running in background consuming ram space and battery. Just whatsapp is enough. Well good enough for me though.

But there're no debloated stock roms, only some customs with heavy theming.
Correct me, if I'm mistaken.
or you can root and de-bloat it yoursel, then un-root if you really want to keep it stock only.
Debloat by yourself mean to unninstall the apps that you dont need.
For example, i have only 98 apps from over 160 apps who came stock ROM.
Its only your choice what applications choose to erase from stock.
You have a guide in my signature with debloating ROM safe.

the phone is good and a great value for money after the recent price drop...
all games run quite nice with occasional lag and hiccups and thats due to lesser ram in the phone...if you are heavily inclined towards playing high end games i would suggest you to not go for this one buy a phone with atleast 1gb ram...
and one more disadvantage (not for everyone though) is that this phone is not really developer friendly and apple of every developer's eye out there due to chipset...
see for your priorities and make the decision..:good:

But dude read! This thread is not for buying advice! You can do enough research about this phone's performance if you would just search the forum.

[Q] Persistent notification apps getting killed

Hi everyone, so during multitasking my C5303 LTE on stock .257 kills everything in sight, including supposedly unkillable apps that are in the notification bar!
Any idea what might be causing it and how to fix it?
- Installed unmodified Sony rom over carrier-modified rom (Orange France) using flashtool.
- Rooted the phone using doomlord (problem appeared before rooting).
- Bootloader remains locked.
- Ram Manager on "Hard Multitasking" and Autokiller Memory Optimizer on "Moderate" do not help.
- My 2012 Nexus 7 has pretty much the same widgets running and number of apps installed without problems.
Thanks in advance!

run v6 script.
choose option 16 (the one for bulletproof apps)
it will list the ongoing processes, so type the name of the process, and follow instructions
Thanks a lot sarkar.
I must say I'm disappointed in Sony for coding such crappy settings. It takes A LOT of work to go back to a state of normalcy, I've never had another Android device prevent me from listening to music or blind me by killing lux while I'm simply browsing.

hey bro i have bulletproofed lux, sonyericssonmusic, soundenhancements and viper4android. Just one more uestion as I don't know much about supercharcher thingy. everytime i reboot, do i have to run the script(s) to make it start it's ram management work? or no need of that?
P.S: after restart looks like walkman and viper4android have become bulletproofs indeed!!

I really don't get it.
Just create a SManager widget for the /data/bulletproof_apps.sh and one for the supercharger settings. That way you just click them once on reboot and you are good to go.
Btw, just use chrome for some time and see whether Walkman still gets killed? Just dont open a video or anything that has sound in it.
My 2 year old Nexus has much better RAM and OOM management. Unfortunately, I damaged the device and had to buy the SP.

Well, then it may have been killed because the temple run, which was active needed more memory and the walkman was the one that was killed to give it space.
Wait for the next update, I hope Sony fixes these issues.

CM 10.1 had some lag issues on their lockscreen and systemui stutters. But they would still solve some of the major blunders on this device. However, until Sony releases some sort of AOSP project on this I can see nothing being developed for this.
FXP still does not have this device and being a mid-ranger, I see none of the devs taking too much interest here. Its really a very sad situation here.

i think i figured out why walkman got killed while playing the game.. it's not because of the game, mate, looks like it's because of the mail notification that u have quoted me on XDA!! (notifications do not sound while playing walkman somehow, just pauses the music for a second for some reason). but while playing the game, the expected pause is actually killing walkman!!
Would it be possible / beneficial to install an unmodified jellybean rom?

I couldn't, though to be fair I was only asking if it was possible. Please forgive my noobiness.
Here's hoping we get some good will from Sony.

no problem man. I was just a little curious. :good:
However, I believe a little vanilla JB would do SP some good!
So do we know if the latest update addresses the RAM management issues?

YES IT DOES!! :victory: I see great improvement. Yesterday I tested with walkman and it didn't get killed with google chrome running 5 tabs at once or with running temple run oz tried it multiple times but couldn't get the app killed like before

Made the update, it's much better for sure but I still get apps to close when browsing heavy pages. Oh well, at least there's progress.
