Hi folks. I know many of us have been frustrated with being unable to run Interop (high privilege) apps since upgrading to Mango (or our phones came with Mango and never could at all). Well, I've got a possible solution. It needs testers, though.

This is not HD7-specific (I think) but I know not everybody reads the general dev & hacking forum. Please try it out!
Just a heads up, I have a dev unlocked HD7, and still interop-locked here after the procedure.

Right, I have some serious development-related questions.
Firstly, has anyone managed to compile AOSP for the SGS yet?
If so (and assuming that they are not willing to share their final efforts), then how have people gone about setting up the dev environment? I'm no coder, but I want to try rolling my own build if nobody else is willing to give it a go. All I need is to know how to set up the environment to build something that will work on the SGS (even without the proper hardware drivers, if need be) and I'll go from there.
Are Samsung's drivers really encrypted? I've heard conflicting reports on this.
I'm not seeing anything that is blatantly preventing people from rolling custom ROMs; the bootloader is (apparently) unlocked and unencrypted, and the drivers are (again, apparently) open-sourced. Granted, the SGS is a brand new device and thus we shouldn't be expecting the amount of ROMs available for it that the HTC Dream/Magic has, but I can't see a reason why it shouldn't get there soon.
I'm posting this thread because as far as I can see, there's been no serious talk of custom ROM development for the SGS. Every thread is just "lulz, where r the romz?" or "where can I get ringtonez"? or threads of equal use to those.

And the time table.
It seems someone for the samsung S vibrant has already started working on a cyanogen mod for their phone. Wonder if it will be able to be port over to our phones?
I have moved his over to the appropiate section and copied and pasted my question.
I am new to this forum and apologize for my noobness in advance as i wasn't sure either to post this here or in the Android Software and Hacking General section and i appreciate any comments as i understand i am new here and have contributed nothing to this forum. Here is my dilemma, i recently purchased a t mobile g1 from a friend about two weeks ago because i was interested in the android OS. Being in the UK it is locked to the T-mobile network which my existing sim is orange. I understand that there was a developers ROM that was released (codenamed holiday (adp 1.1)) which allows other networks to be used on the g1 e.g orange etc as its a developer version. I was wondering what compatible ROMS for the g1 (htc dream) that would allow me to use my orange sim. Again i really do appreciate nay comments and help i receive and understand i have not contributed to this community and it is highly rude to ask for something when given nothing.
Changing the ROM on your device will not unlock it so that you can use it on any network. You need to get an unlock code for your device. T-Mobile US will give these out to their subscribers but I don't know about your carier. If they don't you can get it online too. They will need your phone's IMEI to generate the code. Just put in the new SIM and it will prompt you for the code regardless of the ROM you have.
isnt there such a thing as a hardware unlock though if i use a custom rom?. I brought this phone from a friend so i doubt phoning t-mobile will help get me a code.
p.s. cheers for taking the time to comment
No, I'm fairly sure the only way to unlock this device is what I posted above.
i thought you just needed a t-mob sim to login and then you were free to choose after this whole rooting/flashing thing.
its already a long time ago, so i might confuse a lot and its only that what i think to know. nothing sure..
i wanted an android phone and my friend was saying i culd get his off him and i thought that be a perfect time to get into the android os and stuff, i wasnt ure if i coulld by rooting/flashing that id be able to use another network thats why i wondered if i flashed it to a deveopler rom the adp1 one i could us another sim, i will look into the method beav_35 put but im not sure on any reputable sites to trust to do this method.

Yes. The Guys From Xda.cn have posted 2 videos showing it working. the 1st shows an SD card error and no wifi or cellular radio.
The 2nd one however shows all this working.
The DarkForcesTeam have made RSPL's so android can run on the phones (this being all HTC WP7 Phones) so my guess is that they are working on doing something like their MAGDLR for the HD2.
The guys from xda.cn have apparantly stated a June release, so just wait and see, You've just got to be patient with this, its a huge job to port it.
I understand its a huge job and I appreciate it. I was just wondering because I've looking everywhere and I just want to know if am going to get android eventually or not on my hd7. do u have any links for the videos ?
By the way how is that going to be effective who are (claims) that they making android when the developers from wp7 are aboutt to give an update of MANGO?
Does this mean the developer who are making android for htc hd7 have to re-start again because WP7 has a new interface MANGO about to be release soon ?
Just wondeirng either theres going to be any interference with the making of android vs the new MANGO about to come soon. Due to the fact some settings may be different from what WP7 is know to what MANGO will be next and try android on that. Confused.
Mods please lock this thread, original poster, read the Android on hd7 thread you will get all your answers, DavieGee props for your patience on answering the same question that everybody asks, Sandra really? You are going around in circles in three other threads with the same comments, unneeded really one thread is enough one question is enough, do some research.
Yes... Matter of time...

Hello!
I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but here goes; Is there a developer unlock for WP8 that one can attain for free? Before I switched to WP8 I had a full developer unlock on my Omnia WP7.8
I searched the forum & google but I couldn't find anything that helped except for some threads about dreamspark or something in that direction.
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not so if it is indeed wrong, could an admin move it?
Thank you,
Jelloshot
Try this and tell me what will came up?
I`ve dev unlocked my phone and gained the max 10 app limit trough Dreamspark and i am really curious will this work.
:good:
It's exactly the same process as on WP7, except you need the new version of the SDK and you can now use *any* Microsoft account...
Hi, Myself Amol Baikar.
I'm from India.
Im new on this forum. today i hacked windows phone 8.1
and want to submit post in achievement section.
so plz guide me as soon as possible, i'm waiting. and very excited to post Windows Phone ethical Hacking for Nokia Devices.
i'm first in the wolrd who hacked wp 8.1 lumia device.
Unless you have some reason to avoid sharing it, you should let us know what you did so we can properly appreciate it and ideally give us a tool/app to do it ourselves and start making use of it! Explaining *how* you did it is not required, although I personally nearly always do so; it's a good way to build trust.
Having 10 posts will let you create a thread in the Development & Hacking forums, which is really the proper place for announcing a successful hack, but there's nothing terribly wrong with posting it here instead.
Depending on how good your hack is (interop-unlock? full-unlock? bootloader-unlock? arbitrary code execution with full trust?), whether it's specific to Nokia phones or not, and what it requires (special hardware? a particular regional ROM? hard-resetting your phone?) we may start using the hack immediately; any time you sit on it is time we can't even get started. So, let us know what you've got!
