[Q] Question regarding developer unlock - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but here goes; Is there a developer unlock for WP8 that one can attain for free? Before I switched to WP8 I had a full developer unlock on my Omnia WP7.8
I searched the forum & google but I couldn't find anything that helped except for some threads about dreamspark or something in that direction.
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or not so if it is indeed wrong, could an admin move it?
Thank you,
Jelloshot

Try this and tell me what will came up?
I`ve dev unlocked my phone and gained the max 10 app limit trough Dreamspark and i am really curious will this work.
:good:

It's exactly the same process as on WP7, except you need the new version of the SDK and you can now use *any* Microsoft account...

WP7 Unlock/Jailbreaking

Actually, i am at work now so i don't have the usb cable. I was searching for support for right to left languages in WP7 such as Arabic, but i found this topic which confirm that we can install any third party app without requiring a Marketplace developer account. could anybody confirm..?

It doesn't work on my HD7.
I installed the cert, but it can't connect to the phone.
It does see if it's locked or not, however.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
oooops i already have the same at home Win 7 X64. so, i have to try on X32 version.
: )
I tried on W7 Ultimate 32 bit aswell, it gives an error immediately.
On 64 bit I get an error after I click on Update
they have discontinued their developer unlocking tool.
I tried on a 32bit pc, didn't work.
It chucks the error as soon as the program starts.
I also tried in safe mode, but Zune can't connect to the phone.

Unlock issue and fix
I was posting onto a thread a few days ago but it has been locked now so thought Id post the fix I found in the end.
The problem
I bought a t-mobile hd7 from a store in California and wanted to unlock it for use in the uk. Unfortunately htc hadn't published the IMEI code so no website could unlock it.
Solution
I went to allot of different sites recommended on here and eventually googled http://www.cellunlock.net . They also could not unlock my phone but offered to find an unlock for me in 3-20 days. 3 days later they came through with a code and my device is now unlocked.
I hope this helps people!
This code from Crackberry.com will give you a %50 discount by the way - DSC-23
not sure if it will still work but it brings the price down to the same as other sites
3 days to unlock a phone is too long
You can Request a Unlock code from T-mobil because the don't have a international plan they have to unlock the phone for you i take about a Week fro you to get the unlock code just let the tech suppor know that you travel out side the US and they will get you the code.

they told me a week, I had the email the next day (for my hd2, not my hd7).
I am told that if I buy a HTC HD7 on an o2 simplicity 30 day contract then contact o2 to say that their signal is too poor where I live they will unlock it for a fee.
Can anyone confirm this?
I live in the UK in a known poor signal area.
well its workin now. hmmm actually i am planing to explore my device i mean the files, and trying to add other keyboard layout i mean Arabic.
What can jailbreak/unlock do besides the network/sim unlock? Can it provide access to things like in the iPhone to cydia and installous where we can get free apps or is it a WIP? Either way I was looking at chevron wp7 jailbreak tool. What does that do? Sorry abt the noob questions.

it developer unlocks the phone so you can install side loaded unofficial apps. Up to 10 apps at the moment (I think). Right now there are not many unofficial apps out there.

Hi, does anyone know if this is a genuine quote from Julien Schapman, seems to have shelved his jailbreak device manager.
Because I was bored getting hundreds of emails from people asking me to send them WP Device Manager so they can continue to use pirated applications, and because there will be a short term solution for homebrews, I decided not to include my jailbreak tool. I respect other developers and I don’t want to be responsible for piracy, I’ve been contacted by Brandon Watson from Microsoft and I wish to be involved in the official homebrew support on Windows Phone.
Thanx.

Possible interop-unlock for HTC

Hi folks. I know many of us have been frustrated with being unable to run Interop (high privilege) apps since upgrading to Mango (or our phones came with Mango and never could at all). Well, I've got a possible solution. It needs testers, though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354706
This is not HD7-specific (I think) but I know not everybody reads the general dev & hacking forum. Please try it out!
Just a heads up, I have a dev unlocked HD7, and still interop-locked here after the procedure.

Nothing exists for the Lumias as of now. Looking through the top threads under Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking, you'll see that same question asked.

You're making the assumption that there's devs actively trying to do it... I was the first one to perm-root the Garminfone (Android), simply because nobody else was trying
trust me, there's a lot of people trying. The samsungs are easier because they've got the built-in registry editor.

hacking lumia phones look to be very hard.
sometimes i think about switch to Ativ S but i love my L920
If someone could tell me how i can get in to the system of the lumia windows os i could try messing with it and maybe find something out!
... I don't even know how to respond to that. Have you read *anything* about our work hacking this OS? Assigning reasonable meanings to "get in to the system" and "find something out" (because you were incredibly vague), no we can't tell you that; the whole point is that we don't yet know how to "get in". If you just meant read-only access througg, there's the webserver (limited permissions but runs on a retail device) or the ROM image (which you can mount and browse at will, but it's not "live" in any way).
I asked that coz they have obv got into the device or else there wouldnt have been the inteprop unlock...i just wanted to know how..

go look at the forum that explains how interop unlock was achieved on the ATIV S. If you've read enough to know that a wp8 phone is interop unlocked, you'd know the reasoning why it was possible for the ativ s and not the lumias right now. Just wait until someone releases a thread detailing how to interop unlock the Lumia devices. Until then, you'll have to use your phone as.... A normal retail wp8 phone.

Thanks snickler ur one of the devs right?..
Well does anyone know why sideloaded games dont work but apps do?...i have a dev app and i tried the to sideload games which just startup and automatically shutdown...whereas apps work fine
Lumia 520 Reporting ---|||---
I'm going to go wayyyy out on a limb and guess it's because your dev app is a legitimate development version of an app, whereas your games are not?
Yeah...this sounds like he's wanting advice in terms of piracy. This community isn't for helping you get your cracked apps/games working on your phone. If you want games and apps to work, BUY THEM LEGITIMATELY AND SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS.

Just remember
there are no such things as stupid questions, just stupid answers
every geek started as a noob
maybe you can find some answers here in these threads

Oh, I disagree. Questions in the abstract are nearly always good. The implementation of seeking an answer to the question - for example, starting a new thread to ask something on a forum with multiple threads already covering that topic, to say nothing of the rest of the web - can certainly be quite the opposite of valuable.
Also: I think that when a "noob" asks a question on which there are many answers on various forum sites and network, if you just answer it directly, you are actually misinformed. It is much better to make him see, so friendly, you should get some. Sure you will find not only what you wanted at that time if not many other useful things ...

What's your Network carrier?
Sure..If your Nokia Lumia 520 is network locked you can easily unlock it using the unlock code. There many ways to get the code from service provider,Shops,Online third party and so on..You can try at this site OnlineGSMUnlock.com here specify your Network provider,Country,IMEI..After they will send the permanent unlock code with free instructions through your E-mail..Then you can use this code to easily unlock your mobile..
If you're long-time AT&T customer with good standing on the account, then goto AT&T device unlock portal to file the request. Use Google to find the link, I am too new to post it.
If your request is approved, then you will get the unlock code within 48 hours. It is completely free. It can take up to 5 business days to consider your request.
unlock code
you can also pay for a unlock code. id did that to. but still waiting for it

[Q] WP8 Software SIM Unlock???

So...I apologize if this isn't in the proper section, as I was unsure of where to start this thread and have not really come across anything on this subject other than dealing with Android.But...... I've been searching for a solution to SIM unlock my Lumia 520 weather it be free or cheap. Apparently the Lumia 710 method will not work for this. So during my searches and attempts I got a few ideas...most have been forgotten lol but something that just hit me was the curiosity as to if there was a permanent software sim unlock that is in the works or that nobody has found or nobody is talking about. SO...with that said...does anyone know of such a program? i suppose we are halfway there when you consider the Dev unlocks...maybe this could even bring a solution for unlocking the bootloaders also...
Anyone?
