Here's all the story -need help- - Motorola Droid and Milestone Q&A, Help & Troublesh

Some days ago I traded a PS2 and some money for a Motorola Milestone. I noticed that it already had CM7 installed. All works fine, exept that it is locked to Orange Romania. I ordered unlock codes on multiple sites, they didnt work and I asked them to refund. There's a strange thing: 2 of the sites sent me the same codes -that must be the one- but when I enter it, it's the same error "The code has failed to unlock the network". I thought that it's a good idea to wipe my SD Card, and I did it from recovery menu. It worked fine, but now, recovery won't open, it just shows that exclamation sign and the phone near it for about half a second.
So, there are 2 problems: the one with the recovery, and the unlock code.
I cant use the phone until it's unlocked because I have Vodafone RO.
I bought the codes with multiple sums of money: 10$, 7 Euros, 5 Euros
The service shop of Orange RO said that it costs 30 euros to unlock the code - too much- and the closest unlocking shop don't even know how to unlock it (I went to them and they said: "Oh, we don't even know how to unlock this phone")
I can say that Motorola Milestone gave me the biggest headache I've ever had, with Optimus One I unlocked it, installed ROM for myself with no problem and all of it's features still work fine.
So, here I am, with a very good unusable phone, begging for help on this site. Maybe some kind of "prince" will save me and my new phone.
If you read it all, thanks.

for the openrecovery, you have to copy it on the sd car again. the openrecovery folder and the update.zip .

where should I put the update.zip?
Edit: Copied to root, recovery works again. Next problem, I waint to return to stock rom, how do I do it?

[Q] Question|unlocking

Hello;
I bought an unlocked Samsung Captivate from Ebay,
when i got the phone it was unlocked and used it for a while.
(got it 9 days ago).
I tried to update the phone once but I forgot to change the
"update.zip" file with the newer that I got from here
then the phone became locked again. I tought it was a problem with the rom so I burnt another room on it(cogniton 2.2 with hebrew on it). The phone is working but its unlocked. I tried unlocking it with the software named "terminal Emulator" and got 8 digits codes (numbers only) I wrote it down. then inserted my simcard and tried the code twice (it said that the unlocking was unseccusfull. I stopped trying to insert the code
(I heard it can get bricked but i didnt know how many times do i need to try untill its getting bricked). I got no idea how to open it up. please help me,
Thank you.
for any other questions that might help you... post it and i will answer. (I live in Israel and I cant get to At&t's lab to fix it)

if you search in the Q&A section of the forum, there is a thread devoted to unlocking captivates. This is the Dev section, devoted to development of new roms/kernels/etc. I was literally just looking at the thread moments ago, I just don't have the URL handy. go to Q&A and search unlock and you should have all your problems solved.
I don't know the answer, but you might be more successful if you poet questions in the Q&A forum. Good luck.

No.The Rooting/ROMing is not the same as SIM/Network/Subsidy unlock.
I have had good sucess with codes from GSMLiberty.net.
Process:
1- Buy an "unlock code" (you need the network the phone is locked to as well as the phone IMEI number (look under the battery).
2- Put in NEW SIM
3- At code prompt, type the number that gsmliberty.net gives you (or another site, I am just speaking from experience).
Voila! Unlocked phone. You can then keep the stock ROM or move on to rooting/installing a new ROM if you want.
Wiping the phone and installing new ROMs has no effect on the unlock. You are OK.

[Q] Help! Device Locked Due to Abnormal Factory Reset

Hi all,
I am in desperate need of help with this AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 that I found in abroad. Before I get chewed out with accusations of theft, I found the phone in a restaurant and gave to the staff who returned it to me after 3 days an no one had come to claim it.
Anyway, I have been trying to unlock it for use in Canada. I'm a bit of a noob, so please be patient Started with a commercial unlock code to SIM unlock. I received a "successful" message, so I assume it worked. However, I was told that AT&T locks other SIM cards from working on their firmware, so I began to try to flash and install a custom rom. I went to geohot's towelroot page and clicked the lambda. I think it did something. For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to do factory data wipe from the volume down+power+home recovery screen. Now, I can't get past the initial setup which is asking for my original Samsung login ID, which I obviously don't have. In addition, I can't flash the rom with Odin or install off of external SD card.
Please help!!!
Thanks!
AK

No SIM unlock prompt for HTC Desire 510 (Sprint), please help.

Hello. I am writing this message to this forum after hours of searching. During all that searching, the most promising leads for a solution to my problem kept bringing me back to this forum, so I figured I'd make a post here and hope for the best.
I recently relocated to China. I brought my phone with me, which was a prepay HTC Desire 510 with Sprint. Awhile ago, I rooted the phone by putting TWRP on it. I basically only did it in an attempt to remove some of the bloatware on the phone, because otherwise, I see very little point in rooting the phone. Much to my displeasure, rooting the phone seemed to have very little effect on what I could do about the bloatware due to write protection, but I was able to manage to (barely) deal with the stupidity that is this phone's storage space. I mention this detail in case anyone thinks it is related to my problem.
So obviously the phone doesn't work in China, so I decide to buy an unlock code off the internet for $8.99. I get the code in a few hours, and the instructions tell me to put in a different SIM card, and I will be prompted with an unlock request from the phone after a reboot. However, that doesn't happen. All I got is a message saying "Invalid Card Please contact customer care" and "Invalid SIM Card 4G services are unavailable as the sim/uicc is invalid".
In the instructions I was provided, they did say make sure your phone has been factory reset, but I was unable to do this due to the TWRP rooting. What I instead did was factory reset it from inside the bootloader menu. This did perform a factory reset of sorts, but I still never got any SIM unlock prompt.
I am basically at the end of my rope. I don't want to have to buy a phone here in China, but if I can't get this unlocked, I will be forced to. If anyone can provide me with a stock ROM image for the HTC Desire 510 Sprint, or tell me some method to input an unlock code I am unaware of, or at least tell me if I am s*** out of luck because of x, y z, then I would greatly appreciate it. I think I have read and clicked on every single link on the first 3 pages of yahoo, searching multiple things like "htc no unlock prompt" and "htc desire stock ROM" with no real solutions to this problem.
EDIT: This was the message the people who sold me the unlock code sent regarding factory resets:
--------
Dear customer,
we got the code for your phone IMEI directly from Sprint server and this code is
in 100% working condition, it`s official code generated by the official carrier employees.
Seems like the problem on your side. Here is some useful recommendations.
Very often unlock code is not working because our customers flashing on
their phones custom ROM`s which includes custom basebands. These
changes in the structure of the radio module (baseband) are not acceptable
to unlock and this may be the reason why our code is not working. So
please make sure that your phone using original stock ROM and original
baseband firmware and your phone never was modified before.
----------
So it looks like I need help finding a stock ROM. I tried downloading what I found on this site:
****htc.com/us/support/rom-downloads.html
But it doesn't work in Linux. Wine gets to a certain point, and the program just dies. If anyone has a stock ROM for the HTC Desire 510 (Sprint) out there, I would greatly appreciate it.
Update:
I was able to follow the instructions here to eventually extract the rom.zip image from the RUU, rename it so that hboot would recognize it, and return my phone to a stock ROM image.
But as you may have guessed, this did not ever bring me to an SIM unlock screen.
I am basically at the point of giving up. At this point, I would just like to know why this is impossible. Tampered flag? Relocked flag? Maybe I'm just an idiot and didn't realize something about the Sprint "SIM" card makes it incompatible with a Chinese SIM card (it does refer to it as a UICC card)?
Any suggestions on why this didn't work would be nice. Guess I wasted $8.99 and 10+ hours for nothing.
I am attaching the links for Stock Rom And stock kernel

bootloader unlock request reasons

For the people that have requested and successfully received their unlock code, would you mind sharing the reasons you submitted to xiaomi?
I just said it had vendor rom installed, for a different xiaomi phone, unlock came the next day, the hardest thing is getting your name to work first name only,
I received approval in three days
I told them that I was a Dev and wanted to be able to test my apps on the Mi Mix
Best

Said I had an brick... And need help
I was honest and said I wanted to install custom roms and I was fully aware of the risks involved.

I just said I wanted to install TWRP to do backups
I was also completely honest and said since I was from Scotland I wanted to be able to get rid of the Chinese crap and get a different ROM.
Got a text two days later and my request was accepted.
along these lines - do i need to be using the phone to get the unlock request?
i can't use this phone as my daily without root, so i have my sim in my old phone until i get unlock. any idea?

No, you don't. I'm not getting mine for at least another week but my unlock request was accepted last week. I've logged on to the unlock application to make sure it works and it works completely fine, now all I have to do is get the phone.
I just put 'I want to root the phone'.

Hope I can get away with 2 unlocking codes on 1 account in a week? got some fresh ideas anyway
I was very honest, just said I want to root to release full potential. Fingers crossed!!

Did u get it
I was granted the unlock privilege within a few minutes. It could mean that they don't screen the responses as clearly now or that I just managed to give a reason they agreed with. A fellow Lineage team member got his unlock similarly quick too.
I was the luckiest. My phone was bought brand new sealed, virgin, never been used. I was the first to break the seal.
Point is, when checking the menu, it appears my bootloader was already unlocked and ready to go!
All I had to do was install the drivers and software on my pc and simply flash TWRM recovery followed by any custom rom of my choice...
Was never any need for me to request any bootloader unlock.

That's because the seller opened the box to unlock it and flash the global rom most likely. Most of them do that if you read the seller's description in detail.

The phone was factory sealed in the box when it arrived, however, the ad clearly mentioned:
''Official Global ROM Support OTA Updates''
So it appears you were right. Clever how it was resealed in the box...
I just said that I want a Rom with Portuguese languaje for me the unlock process it takes no more than 30 minutes between to ask permisson into Xiaomi end their response.
