Here we go again,
Curious to know where your Galaxy Note is made in.
Everybody is having a different experiences as far as issues are concerned, issues from minor to major degrees may be factory-specific.
Do you have a White or Blue (Black) Galaxy Note?
If your Galaxy Note is made elsewhere, other than China or Korea, mention that as a comment below,
Mention--
Purchase Date
Place of Purchase
Made in '_______'
Also, Mention Date of Battery and Where the Battery is Made and Finished In!
To check where your Samsung Galaxy Note is made in, remove the back cover, lift the battery, and on the the sticker affixed to the back of the phone will mention the required details. If your phone is NOT made in Korea, then refer to your Retail Box. There should be a big white sticker mentioning the month of import, manufactured by, so on and so forth.
Basically Mention the Following:
Where is your Phone Made In
Date of Purchase
Battery Information
Color
Issue(s) you may be facing!
It would be greatly appreciated if you can also add pictures!
Mine doesn't say, it just says, "Made by Samsung".
Mine is made in China
Made in Korea By Samsung
Made by Samsung usually indicates that your Note is Made in China
Can any one comment on any quality differences?
There was instance when on the S2 the Korean pieces had major faults, and most of those issues were eventually solved at the Chinese-end
???
I'll throw this question out again. Where are your Galaxy Notes made in?!
A similar thread I made over the S2 forums.

Phone is made in Vietnam by Samsung
Battery is made in Japan, Finished in Korea
Issue: Visible horizontal lines on the screen, very visible in whites/greys/blues and other light colors.
Minor green hue at the bottom becoming bigger over time, reddish bleeding at the top ( only visible in greys )
Screen does not have deep blacks as compared to the S1/S2, looks like an LCD with backlit when viewing dark pictures in a totally dark room.
The biggest plus side is that I have absolutely no color shifting even viewed in an extreme angle.
"MADE IN KOREA"
.. but I'm not sure that how believable that is because the same label also claims the "COLOR: BLUE" --

samsung considers the note to be a really, really dark blue
Made by Samsung, bought on November 14 from Amazon.de, so far absolutely no problems except wi-fi much slower and weaker than SGS2. The SGS2 is Made in Korea by Samsung, no problems except low in call volume, still on 2.3.4 stock UK software.
Purchase Date: November 2011
Location of Purchase: Muscat, Oman
Place of Manufacture: Made in China by Samsung
Model: White N7000
Problems: Mild pink color bleeding on the screen along the right edge and a small pink smear in the top center of the screen when displaying the color grey (like when you launch the Android Market app). Otherwise no other screen issues. No dead pixels, all colors look great, blacks are deep with no light bleeding.
Made on Korea by Samsung, battery made in Japan finished in korea.
Bought from Hong Kong last week.
No issues other then colour banding and shifting black levels which are just software issues.

Sorry if this has come up before or been addressed in another related thread.. But I have just put in my Girlfriend's Galaxy S for repair (as the glass was smashed) - but the replacement screen colour seems degraded.
The actual digitizer/led was fine this morning (edit: Before I took it in for the repair) and I'm aware this all gets replaced as part of the job, but now the colors look heavily graded as though the displayable colours have been reduced to 256.
Having googled around and checked here it seems to have been confirmed that SAMOLED screens are no longer produced for the i9000, could there be a compatibility issue with a new SLED screen?
My assumption as of now is that the repair company have used a non OEM display, and consequently as yet I have not yet accepted the repair - if this is all that's available from samsung then so be it but if so the picture quality has taken a big hit and I can't imagine how other threads here have reviewed the SLED as comparable or even okay...
Anyone have any experience/ advice on this?
I just received my new Galaxy Note international version. I bought it from Amazon, and it was listed as 1 year US Warranty, now they changed the title to International Warranty. The seller is "WorldWide Distributors", and they said it has a 1 year international warranty, but has no US warranty.
Anyways, when I opened up the box, there was only one sticker on the bottom of side of the box, so I didn't have to tear off any stickers to open it. Inside, the phone had some fingerprints, and I noticed that maybe the seller just checked it out before sending it to me.
After searching for rooting, I learned that there is a "custom binary download" counter so I stopped and just decided to use stock rom for now without root. Then I found out when I did "vol- home power" to go into odin mode, it shows "Custom binary download: yes (1 counts)", with "samsung official". Does this mean the phone was flashed by somebody and it is a used phone?
The seller charges 15-20% restocking fee if I want to return it, and the warranty part is really fishy. I already ordered the $1.50 usb thingy that resets the counter, so I'm not really that concerned, but it's just that I feel bad for paying $660 for a supposedly a brand new phone when in fact it might be a used one.
Some more information:
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: N7000XXLA4
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLA4-CL886827 [email protected]#2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXLA4
Now, my 5 hours usage review--
I feel the phone is slow. Maybe I feel this way because I had a Nexus S with custom ICS ROM (1.2GHz OC, single core). It feels like I came back to Windows XP from Windows 7. Everything is kind of sluggish, and I have ADW launcher with minimal effects. There are no updates for the ROM when I checked, so I think it's most up to date. The screen is kind of ugly too because the damn pentile shiity thing. One thing I didn't like about the Nexus S was the pentile screen, and now Galaxy Note is kind of the same way when I make the letters appear small. Of course, this can be overcomed by using larger fonts since Note has a larger screen. On the back where the battery is, manufacture date is Feb 2012. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Quadrant scores 3598. Reviewing pictures in QuickPic is very sluggish (maybe from the high res screen?).
I hope ICS will solve the performance issues.
Okay. You've got a used Note. If you purchased via Amazon, you won't have to pay a restocking fee. The bottom line is that you paid for one thing and received something else. Amazon has you covered. The seller can't do anything about that.
Second, if you'd quit reading text on your Note with a magnifying glass, it would look fine. If you're not using a magnifying glass, then the only reason you know it's a Pentile® display is because you read it somewhere. All text looks like crap when it's so small that each letter is rendered by a whopping two pixels. An RGB stripe won't look any better.
Bend the seller over. Get yourself a new Note... and just enjoy it!

Thanks for your reply! So, +1 on the count means it is a definitely a used?
The Pentile is noticeable, and I learned this word after searching for why the text is not so clear when I had Nexus S. It's not because I read it from somewhere.
The black text on white background is not as sharp as I want it to be. The small text on webpages or even thin black lines are not made of clear lines. That's how I know it's Pentile display. Actually, it was confirmed after searching about it.
Compare this with any other regular LCD display, or iphone4 or ipod touch 4th gen, and you'll know what I mean. The large screen kind of compensates the lack of sharpness for small letters because I can make the fonts larger, but I was hoping to see it sharp even for the small fonts. I have a good eye sight, so that may be another reason.
I don't make much phone calls, so I like the form factor and all. I also have a wacom tablet, so I know the limits of the pen. But not having a stylus calibration is kind of odd.
Anyways, I guess I should send the seller an email about this since they open M-F, and it's already Friday evening here.
I have an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 4S. The lack of sharpness is due to the Note having lower pixel density than the Retina display. I know you looked it up when you had the Nexus S. And I know small text isn't as sharp as you'd like it to be. The point is that it's as sharp as it SHOULD be. If the Note had an RGB stripe display, text would still be subject to clarity loss as it's reduced in size. The reason you're noticing clarity loss has nothing to do with the Note's display matrix. It's because you allowed your eyes to adjust to the 320dpi display on the iPhone 4/4S. Trust me... your eyes will adjust to the Note. Mine did. That being said, the Nexus S doesn't have the pixel density that the Note does, and you CAN see the Pentile® matrix on it.
As far as your used device concerns go; yes, you were sold a used device. Moreover, you've been sold a used device with a voided warranty. Not only did someone use your phone, at some point, they flashed it with a custom kernel or OS. File a complaint and get a new device or a refund.

+1 count means it was flashed once with custom ROM. And naturally samsung / retailer won't do this.
So sure it has been done by some user.

Seriously I don't understand peoples obsession with Korean made Samsungs and Finnish made Nokias and such
no matter where they are made they have to adhere to the company guidelines and quality checks so it doesn't really matter does it ?
why would the companies deliberately create sub standard products ? Won't that hurt their reputation and goodwill if they do so?
I understand that cheap products made in China aren't often Upto standards but you are taking about the flagship device of a giant electronics manufacturer , Samsung does have some standards
But for your piece of mind I suggest getting an insurance on top of the warranty

not really, had note made in vietnam and had those problems ;D
IMO, Vietnam would produce something better compare to the China but I believe we can trust Samsung to it.
I completely agree with itsrijo... Where ever the product is manufactured the machines and instruments used for manufacturing and calibrating are made in one place and by only one vendor. For example a die for making outercase will be manufactured by same vendor that we cannot indulge two for big investment like this ( because cost of a die worth upto millions). And we cannot get the similar output.
The only difference is people who manages the output quality ( initial quality study also called IQS) may have different level of standard which may result in different Level quality. I own many Chinese manufactured products (branded) and most of'em working good without any trouble.

Mine is Chinese and works great and never had any issues, we'll it did have an issue with the Franco Kernel but that was due to hardware revisions.
Several years back I had simular situation between VW Golf's, I Brazilian made or right next to it was a German made one. I chose the German one. Wasn't much of a choice though since at the time, all TDI motors and transmissions were German made. 220K miles later, it was a good choice.

Mine also is white. And my feedback would be: color banding in skype, xda app and other app are 100% software related because i have ics and no banding at those app, with gb i had color banding in skype, xda. Talking about black color clipping, hmmm hard to say, i had black note made in vietnam and it had huge black color clipping and now i have white made in korea, black color clipping isnt so visible. In shinny days it is impossible to see black color clipping, at night you can see a little clipping but it doesnt bothers me btw my old one black note had much bigger black color clipping
Here in India i have compared all the makes from china vietnam and korea but vietnam is comparatively performing better.china had overheating issue, koreans had bluish tint on the display but vietnamese has only these clipping and banding issues which also exists on the the other two,i guess its a software concern and samsung will be addressing the issues with ics update.and ya guess what i found is smoled might have great contrast ratio but the display on htc one x is a stunner, you must see it to believe it.it was a bit more costly so i went for note

I don't think the blue tint will bother me (perhaps). What else problem have you incurred on Korean makes?
Hi everyone. I did search the forum for Make of Samsung phones but the ones I could find were the V/S or differences etc between Made in Korea/Made in China.
I have read (here and on other forums too) some people praising Made in Vietnam Samsung phones and some bashing it with the color banding issues (and no other issue). Whereas couldn’t find much hate for Made in Korea. Although majority had Korean versions.
All I want to know is that which make out of the two is better, in terms of the one which doesn’t have many issues. I do understand that the company has strict policies and all factories have to adhere to it to make the products uniform. Having said that, but not to forget, Samsung has also mentioned that their Vietnam factory gets the least number of returned phones.
People who have owned and have experienced the two makes, please respond here.
I expect people who own neither of the two, not to respond, as bashing will do no good to anyone. Although positive criticism is always accepted.
Thanks.

Sorry what I meant was there's this calibration issue with the pen , when I draw something it appears off by about 3 mm unless the pen is perfectly horizontal.

I have tried the s-pen myself with 2 units. What I found was that you need to hold the s-pen in, say between 45-90 degree angles. If you hold it too low, say somewhere around 20-25 degree angle, the pen won't work properly. (As in it won't be accurate)

go for the note made in Korea!!!
my mom has a note made in Korea and she doesn't have any problems except slight banding and clipping which can be fixed with future software updates..
i have a note made in Vietnam and it's loaded with issues!!
1)pink spot on center of screen visible in white or grey background
2)red colour bleeding from right side and bottom on grey background with low brightness
3)s-pen problem..the s-pen registers touch without actually touching the screen..it registers the touch even when the s-pen is 3cm away from screen.. :banghead:

but like others have said if ur buying Samsung i would always buy Korea. .
not important
Samsung phones are usually made in Korea but it does not matter
if it is made soemwhere else.
I am sure there is no difference

Like he said, they are both manufactured under strict standards with
pre made parts. It is just assembled in different countries.
So no differerence.
I have a 4 month old vietnamese made samsung (not a note) and its nothing but a lemon. Been giving problems from day 1. Got MB replaced once and now needs MB replacement again.
To give some back round I first bought the Galaxy S6 Edge 128 gb Black Sapphire from ATT direct.
As you can see from my posts no matter what I did I could not get the batter life under control.
Another thing was the screen had a pink cast (the whole screen). I returned the phone back to ATT.
I then continued to read these forums as saw that there was a good majority of people getting
very good battery life. I decided to give the SGS6 another shot but this time I bought the
regular version NOT the Edge. Ordered from the same source ATT online. 128 GB Black Sapphire but the regular version.
Received phone and I can say that there is a night and day difference. First off the screen is perfect.
NO pink cast or banding. Now this phone was set up exactly like the one I returned. Both phones had the
latest Google Services in case you were wondering. The battery life on this phone is amazing! I could
not be happier.
I have to think that there are some phones out there that are defective. I cannot believe the difference
from this phone to the Edge version. I do not think its an Edge problem as just phone by phone basis
but it would be interesting to see if the majority complaints on battery life are from Edge users?
All in all I can say this phone is absolutely amazing, I love it. Thanks to all the posters who made me see the light
and give the S6 another chance.

I had a similar situation. First bought an S6 Edge 32GB from AT&T. Used it for a week...battery life was horrible even after doing the things recommended on XDA to improve it. Phone was very sluggish, apps crashed a lot...and my palm would accidentally touch the edge screen sometimes, which irritated me so I exchanged it for a non-Edge 32GB from AT&T.
COMPLETELY different phone, it's nice and fast, no lag...I get at least 4x the battery life out of this one as I did the Edge. It surprised me, actually. So yes, I'm pretty sure there ARE defective ones out there.

Don't get me wrong but I thought they were all made in Korea since Samsung is a Korean company could be wrong.
There are definantly more regular S6 that had the Pink screen problem than edge variants. But mostly it seems the S6s in general that came out of Vietnam were problematic to say the least and the US got alot of those expecially poor T-mobile. and speaking I have a Gold s6 Edge and its flawless, I get about days use out of it and achieve somewhere around 3-4 hours playing video games on it off charger. The only problem that really been edge exclusive is the Fast charging Frying the Oriantation sensors. but even then I really wouldn't use the fast charger out of absolutely needing it like on the move or at work where your not gonna leave it on the charger... ie use a slow charger to charge it up when you sleep. < you'll be doing the longevity of your battery a favor.

I got the 128GB S6 (white) for AT&T via Best Buy -- seems to have been manufactured in Korea. No screen issues -- battery life is OK (could be better it feels like) -- I'd concur that I generally get about 1 day worth of use out of it. This seems like one of those things that generally get improved after a couple of firmware releases -- though, I could be wrong, time will tell. So far -- after about 2-3 weeks of use -- it's showing about 14 hours of (estimated) life, on average.
Of course -- once power save mode kicks in and those cores cut off, general responsiveness / app switching seems to take a significant hit.
I bought two from AT&T yesterday. Both had perfect screens and buttons. No issues whatsoever so I guess I was lucky. Both units were made in Korea as well.

The second one had issue with its home button making clicking noises without really pressing it, but just touching it (really annoying).
I have a Korean made black 128gb model purchased from ATT online. Screen is beautiful. Battery life is about what I expected - typically get around 16 hours off charger with 3 hours screen on and some phone calls.
Its just the luck of the draw what phone you receive.
Silly question. How do you guys know point of origin? Im sure somewhere on the box it says, however if I did a warranty claim and they sent the phone only is there something in the model number or about phone list that would indicate?
