How do i revert my phone back to stock? I purchased it and it has cyanogenmod on it which is fine but I've not had a chance to experience what the stock look and feel is and I'd like to try this first before sticking with the custom rom.
I'm confused as to how to proceed. Is there a fully stock CWM rom somewhere or do I need to flash something using a different tool?
You can download the stock rom and read the instructions on how to install it here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041

In firmware terms, newer is ought to better. The latest is V20L. The dev section has an array of good roms plus fixes outside of LG

Use your phone to download it and flash it do not use rom manager at all like today I used my phone to download cm9 and the gapps as well it tuck me 30 mints to 1 h but I got it downloaded the app called download all files get it then download the rom you need using your phone it self when you go to flash that rom it will be on your phones internal SD card and just to be safe I'm saying that what ever you do to your phone I'm not buying you a new one so I'm not responsible of what my or may not happen to your phone if all on you man

Willis111 posted a CWM version of the stock Bell 2.3.6 (I believe it is rooted) - He posted it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465153&highlight=bell+2+3+6
I think the download link is hosted by rapidshare so hopefully your phone will be able to download straight to the sdcard... good luck!
leersp yes I've done that before but I dont want CM9, i want stock GB, or any 100% functional GB
LazioDroid, thanks so much, I wish I had the bell version, mines actually the Verizon version?
Would that link work, or is there a verizion one?
Or CAN SOMEONE BACKUP THEIR ROM USING RECOVERY (SAFESTRAP) AND UPLOAD IT
and i can restore?
Ah... an XT862... I'm not sure if the bell cwm will work for ya.
I recommend a custom rom (Liberty). Or - others have had really good things to say about MavROM4! Both arfe available here in the Droid 3 development forum

IMO, ROM Manager just causes more headaches than it solves and I recommend ditching it for the D3 at least. As for a stock ROM for VZW, there is a 906 debloated, optimized, etc. ROM floating around here. It was built from the leak, which is the same as the OTA.
Here it is...

Hello everybody, well i finally get this phone and i have some questions, i have been too into developing before but there are some differences with this phone.
Okay, lets start:
This phone has 2.2(froyo) my carrier has just finished the actualization for 2.3. so I NEED THE OFFICIAL LG ROM, WHAT I MEAN WITH OFFICIAL IS THAT WHEN THERE ARE OFFICIAL UPDATES, IT WILL APPEAR IN THE PHONE
Can i flash roms with the stock phone recovery without been root user?
Wich are the best official baseband and kernel for the phone? Does it change the performance?
In case you can help me you have to know im from argentina ( latinamerica ) just in case there are differents roms, bb, and kernels for every part of the world.
Thanks and good luck to everybody

1) you cannot flash Custom ROMs if you are not rooted....
2)Phone Recovery is available only with root and with CWM
3)Different regions, service providers and devices have different responses for BBs. Generally, the most popular ones are V20q, V20C and V20S for the stock ROMs and the corresponding RILs
4)Performance will change with different Kernels, BBs....such as Voodoo, Battery performance, Scrolling etc
If you like the stock based ROM, then I would suggest you to reach out for Django Manouche 1.5beta4 ROM which is on XDA Server...check for the thread....and choose Stefan's , Flix's or Spica's Kernel.....each are valuable in their own ways.
Hope it helps you...CHEERS mate...you have one of the best devices in your hand

Thanks you both but does those roms show when there are new updates?
Also in case I install this one, whats the difference between this one and my 20a? Does it have italian bloatware?
Thanks
I will guess I will root my phome just for backups and chainfire
One last question,if I install this rom and have another bb or kernel? Will it work bad?
How do I install those roms, by cwm?
Good luck

you have to root your phone mate...thats the first step in liberating ur phone.
STOCK ROM usually has a lot of bloatware and Custom ROMs are slimmer by removing unnecessary apps....so you can go for a Custom ROM without worrying about bloatware.
I had suggested you a custom ROM and this does not have any issues with different BB or Kernel...only thing u have to keep in mind....use Kernel made for Stock ROMs.I am using a V20C Baseband with the DJ 1.5beta4 ROM which is based on V20S sources...check my signature and you will have more idea.I am using my own Kernel too.
for CM7/CM9, you can use any BB but the RIL has to be only from Froyo...means V10 series RIL.
Custom ROMs are mostly flashed using CWM. Updates- some of the ROMs are updated by ROM manager....but my opinion is to download and flash manually. Some of the ROMs do not use the OTA tool for updation(honestly....this is better)
IMPORTANTLY MY FRIEND, read through the opening posts from custom ROM and Stock Kernel threads....and use search....you will know more information.
Hope this helps. Thanks and take care
thanks

Why do so many developers suggest to revert to stock ROM before flashing another ROM or a new version?
This is widely suggested and I see no reason for it.
Of course a re-format and all cache wipes are mandatory.
A ROM upgrading procedure is deleting everything as a first step, or?
What i reckon is JB custom Roms were mostly tested to be flashed coming from a previous Android system ICS (and of course ICS from GB). That's the reason why many users experience post installation problems like invalid IMEI and instabilities when flashing directly a JB Rom coming from a GB.
It's always best to follow the recommendation of Developers who built our custom Roms, they know better.

The most common developer's advice is to first flash a stock GB rom and afterwards load a new JB ROM.
I still see no reason for it. Once a new ROM is flashed everything (what was before) is wiped, or?
The only reason I see is to make it safe for the ones which do not follow the fromat/delete all caches procedure...
Still silly to me....

I've never seen this advice. Mostly it is the exact opposite, namely flashing CM9 first and then going to JB AFAIK.

Elitemovil reccomends this. I'm running this ROM and want to upgrade to new version with new Partition layout.
Anyway, we are loosing the point here - I still see no reason to make any "intermediate" steps before flashing the ROM which I want.
Anyone knows the answer wha there might be problems from swithching ROMs immediately?
Hey guys and gals,
Noob here, only installed 1 or 2 ROM's in the past, but I would now like a hand deciding on a suitable ROM for my needs on my Galaxy Tab P1000 (UK/European)
I would like a ROM that is nice and responsive, has good battery life and is fairly customisable, and I guess most come already rooted? I would prefer it to be ICS or JB too I have looked about and seen a few CM10 ones, some MIUI ones and various others but I am lost for choice, I have no idea what ones are best.
I want everything to work (all wireless connections, camera etc...) don't mind things like auto brightness or similar as that isn't major. The main reason for wanting to change from the stock gingerbread is because I find it unresponsive and boring.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section, thought Q&A was my best bet.
Thanks,
Cam.
Actually your best bet is to try them out yourself. All criteria are subjective.

Hey again,
Quick question,
For the MIUI v4 ICS ROM, which I like the look of alot, it needs a "restock" and install Overcome or a CM9 guide to be followed. (ROM link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613842 )
However, do I still need to do this as I haven't already installed any custom ROM? If I do can you give me a feint idea how I can approach it? Or can I just wipe cache/data etc.. and install the ROM?
Sorry if I am being a pain, not had to do any of this before.
Thanks,
Cam.
Many has your problem.
The thing is, newer ( well, post April 2012) ROM use new MTD layout, which need you to come from stock, or from same layout.
If your custom ROM were GB, no issue. They are stock BML partition, which the new rom can convert upon install.
If it were cm9 or 10, watch the mtd layout. The installer isn't made to convert older mtd to new mtd, so need restock.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Ok so as I have no custom ROM at all I need to restock to new layout. No problem, just wanted to know if it was necessary for me to do it.
Thanks for your help,
Cam.

Think I have got it, can someone please confirm my steps to make sure I am doing it right?
1. Flash latest CWM recovery using Odin
2. Make Nandroid backup using CWM
3. Flash GB-stock-safe, then flash Overcome kernel 4.0.0.tar using Odin for both (do I do these separately or is there a way to flash them together?)
4. Place MIUI v4 ROM and GApps etc.. on Tab's SD card.
5. Boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe data and flash ROM.
6. Flash GApps and patch's etc...
7. Reboot into ROM
If it doesn't reboot into MIUI I need to reflash the ROM as the first flash converted my Tab to MTD? Is that correct?
Hopefully I have got it,
Thanks in advance,
Cam
Actually, am I right in saying CWM isn't fully supported on P1000? What recovery should I use?
Sorry for all the questions again,
Cam.
Cwm is contained in kernel.
If you are willing to forgo backup, must start with GB stock safe v5
Then overcome kernel.
By then you have a cwm recovery.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Got it all installed/flashed last night. Went all ok and I worked out that the kernel included overcome cwm after reading a guide from the link in your Sig.
I suppose its good that I love the ROM too
Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

I would like to replace my GS4 with a phone that I will be able to flash AOSP roms on. The LG G2 looks like an awesome phone, but the software and LG's version of Android looks freakin' ugly ... kind of like TouchWiz.
Is there a way to flash AOSP ROMS on the LG G2 with the latest firmware update? I have read the LG G2 threads and haven't been able to find a straight answer yet. I assume some flashing is possible since I see ROMs in the Verizon LG G2 threads, but are these for the latest baseband version?
Thanks for the help.

Yes there is. If they do not have a method of using the most recent firmware version you can just flash an older version using the LG flahing software. It can be found here on the Return to stock thread. You flash an older version, root, install TWRP or CWM, then download and flash ROM of your choice using custom recovery.

Thanks for the help, that is all I needed to know. I am going to get me an LG G2 and flash an AOSP ROM on it ASAP! LOL
It seems like rooting and installing a custom recovery is easier with the LG phones than it is with the Samsung phones.
Its definitely easier then my SGS3 was. The return to stock thread makes it ridiculously easy. Just be sure to follow the right set of instructions.
